We stop by last night waitresses were at the counter. Four as a matter of fact. We stood where it says wait to be seated. We waited there for about 5 minutes waiting on the waitresses to finish talking then we just sat at the bench in front of the wait to be seated sign. A white family came in and the waitress went straight to them to wait on them. The man of the family said wait they been here first. All four ladies saw when we walked in and watched as we stood there BUT no one waited on us. She said she didn't know what we was gonna do cause we sat at the bench. We told her we was waiting on them to finish talking. We ended up leaving. It was a few minutes after 10 we just figured they were ready to go. I know all Friendly's not like this one off of 48 St but I wouldn't refer anyone to them. read more

Breakfast at one of my favorite "diners" from my childhood. Breakfast menu was good size and not overwhelming with choices. Both my husbands and my eggs were perfectly cooked. The pancakes were a little dense and crumbly for our liking. The flavor of the pancakes was good though. Fast service even though our server was training another server as a "shadow." One of the people in our group wanted to go to Friendly's because it was a childhood memory for her. We don't have any in our area. The restaurant sits in front of a fairly nice hotel. The restaurant wasn't even half full but it took them a long time to seat us. It also took forever to get our drinks. The menu is big but basic-burgers, sandwiches, salads. The ice cream menu was almost as big as the food menu. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that came with fries. We put our order in and waited for the food. When it finally arrived we were missing someone's order. It took at least 15 minutes for our friend's meal to come and when it did it was incorrect. My burger was flavorless. Definitely nothing to write home about. They had put so much mayo that it was dripping off. . We ordered ice cream to go. Let's just say that it looked nothing like the pics and they got one of our orders wrong again. For 5 people our bill was $68 and that was after they took the one meal off because it arrived so late. Want a great dessert? Friendly's has the best ice cream, milkshakes, and sundaes in all of myrtle beach. Plus they are open till midnight. My girlfriend and I come here after a long day and get the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Sundae. All of the desserts are good. It's delicious! The service is great. Went to this Friendly's for my sons 6th birthday. He loves the food and has seen hem sing happy birthday to other kids. I asked if they could sing to him and waitress said they don't do that anymore. Said she would ask manager. Never sang. Never gave an explanation or apologized. Deeply disappointed. We had to sing happy birthday to him (our table) ourselves. Real nice. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. One is way too high of a rating. I go to the take out window to order and the woman tells me she can take my order inside. I go inside and she sees me standing there yet begins talking to another customer who is having a problem w his order. So I continue to stand there. She finished w the guy and still ignores me. So the she says oh you want take out( this is the same girl that told me she could help me inside). So I tell her I want a large hotfudge sundae w sprinkles and m&ms. I also ordered a small hotfudge sundae w rainbow sprinkles and Reese's pieces. When these get done being made a guy hands them to her and she stands there like a deer in headlights. I finally say I believe those are for me and she looks super confused and says oh yes. Then I ask for spoons and napkin and she walks away from me. I asked Another employee and they gave me what I needed. I get home start eating my sundae and discover there is absolutely no hot fudge In either sundae. I was so looking fwd to a hot fudge sundae as I haven't had one in awhile and I get five scoops of ice cream whip cream and sprinkles no hot fudge. I can not express how incompetent this girl was. I can only assume she never enters them in as hot fudge sundaes because she struggled entering them in I had to repeat it several times. She understood me but just couldn't enter it in. Now I know why Friendlys is a struggling chain. It is a shame because I have fond memories of Friendlys as a child. This isn't the same Friendlys. It's a Friendly's. so I'm not going to go into detail about the food as if it were Tavern On The Green! The food was good, but what made this one stand out to me was the great waitress we had!! At some point, I'm going to have to start remembering names of servers so I can give them credit. She was super nice and helpful. Made an ordinary meal that much more enjoyable!! Great service, good ice cream. The sundaes were yummy but overpriced for the amount of ice cream we got. I think my daughter ate her two-scoop sundae in less than 30 seconds. If I had been at home, I would have just gone to the store and made my own. I was also disappointed that I saw an advertisement for a free sundae on your birthday at the register and when I showed the employee my ID to show him it was my birthday (and how excited I was to see I was going to get a free sundae), that you don't actually get it. He said you have to register for Friendlys club first. I said I would fill out the card but he said they have to be mailed off and take several weeks to go in the system. IF I COULD GIVE THEM NO STARS! It was only after driving around north myrtle beach for an hour to find a place to eat, did nostalgia steer us toward Friendly's. I grew up going there for ice cream. I warned my husband not to expect much In the way of entrees. I wish that had been enough for him to drive right back out of the parking lot. The restaurant looked dirty, and that should've been the next opportunity to turn around. Sadly we didn't. It took several minutes to be seated. Then quite a bit longer for anyone to come to our table. This was a trend. Which was puzzling, there were no less then 8-10 people in uniform wandering around, but only 2-3 seemed to be working. IT TOOK FOREVER FOR OUR ORDER TO BE TAKEN. Once it finally came it was ok. But the tables around us were all experiencing issues. The waitress blamed it on the manager, and gave a curt "sorry" as she was laying down the bill. I'm guessing that this location depends heavily on transient customers, that are only in town on vacation. Surely no locals patronize this place....... More than once. read more

We ate at Friendly's twice during or recent week at the beach. We really liked the way the menu was arranged. We chose to order from the "senior" section. The entres included two-scoop sundaes. The fried clams were tender and tasty. The white fish sandwich was delicious also. The choices of ice creams and toppings for the sundaes were wonderful. The servers were knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and the service was quick. A great choice for families. read more

We went for dinner and ice cream of course. When we walked in I felt like I walked into a place that should have been closed down years ago. It was not busy at all. We waited 8 minutes to be seated. We sat for 15 minutes looking at menus and each other. At the table next to us was an old man who was hacking up a lung and ready to die( if he did I'm sure it would have went unnoticed by staff for at least a couple of months). After waiting a while to be seated Sheena seated us and with her great personality made us forget about the wait. She was personable, efficient and knowledgeable. Went here because my wife and I used to work in one 30 years ago up north. Walked in and was not impressed. Seemed like the carpet was original. But it smelled clean and looked crowded, so those were good signs. Got seated right away, but read some reviews about slow service, and got worried when our server was a no show for 3 minutes. But after that moderately slow start we were off. My wife road our server like a race horse, but the nice girl took it like a champ. Our food was prepared just like we ordered and arrived piping hot. The server checked back every 4 minutes, and gave us our check without needing to be asked. A very nice experience, and at a good price. read more

We arrived around 6pm and the place was mostly empty. The hostess tried to seat our party of four in a two seater booth. When we asked for a larger booth she had a major attitude about it. She asked the server at the larger booth right beside us if she could take us and she flat out refused. A really nice waitress then offered to serve us. The hostess moved us but wouldn't even look at us and was just plain rude. Over an hour later we still had not received our food. The two tables seated after us had already been served and eaten and placed their order for ice cream. I asked to speak to the manager and she apologized and took 30% off our bill which was nice. Our waitress was really sweet and the delay in food was not her fault. The hostess and waitress who refused to serve us should be fired though. It's not ok to treat people that way when we were as polite as could be about the situation. read more

We are traveling. We walked from our hotel to the back door of the Friendly's in the parking lot of the premises for breakfast. Upon entering, no special board, so we inquired about something with two eggs. The response was, "there are more options in the main menu. In there, larger plates, more expensive, just too much food. She said, take it with you! After getting our food, to our surprise, we overheard a customer also ask for two eggs as well. Their waiter said yes there is a special with 2 eggs. Upon checkout, we asked about the special. We're told, "oh yes, there is a mgr special, but we don't tell people about it, it's on the marquee." We asked how much was it, $3.99 she responded. She got the mgr, Jennifer Grady. We we're told the same thing, it's our policy not to mention it, it's on the marquee, which is at the front of the restaurant. The mgr actually said "Too bad", then charged us the full $26.70! The food went to waste. They are totally unethical. We are seniors. Buyer beware! read more

Dirty, Dirty and then Dirty. I know we came in at 10pm for ice cream and I'm sure they had a long day but there was trash EVERYWHERE... The floors were covered with trash. Stained ceiling tiles, greasy booths, wall paper peeling off, blown light bulbs out over table and a hostess who just could not smile once or say a kind word until we were leaving. Friendly's is your typical Denny's like restaurant with the benefit of having some really tasty icecream. Our waitress was kind of forgetful but she was "friendly". My food was pretty tasty but you can't go wrong with some eggs and meat covered in cheese...lol! read more

My party of three waited fifteen minutes before being seated. Once we had actually been seated, we waited for a good twenty minutes before we had to call over a server, who wasn't even our server, and they had been helping a party that was seated after we were. Once our actual server was called over, they claimed that they had "forgotten" about our table, yet they had walked by multiple times and glanced at us sitting there waiting. Finally, after we had just gotten our ice cream, we overheard our server saying that they never put our order in, meaning that if someone else hadn't done it for them, we would have been waiting for much longer. Stopped for lunch. Food was just ok. My daughters loved the ice cream concoctions though. The server was nice...when they showed up. The overall service was the slowest I've had in any restaurant in years...over 1 1/2 hours to eat a simple 1-course lunch after being seated. And they didn't seem busy at all.
