All vents and the surrounding ceiling tiles look like this
Wendy G.

Loved Friendlys growing up & enjoy coming back for the nostalgia. Great menu. Something for everyone. Team is nice and quick. My only complaint is how dirty the air vents and ceiling around them are. Not many look up but if they do they'll see all vents like this. This was a turn off for me when I noticed them. Other than that, I'd come back

1-19-26. The infamous "fishamajig" sammie. Sometimes..... it's just what you need! Tastes like a McD's filet-o-fish....but better.

1-19-26. Somewhat decent food. I ordered the infamous "fishamajig" melt sandwich. Which I believe is a fried codfish patty served on toasted bread with some cheese and tartar sauce. I'm certainly not saying it was life changing.....but every so often, it just soothes the soul. Also ordered a bowl of chicken soup which tasted like it came straight out of a can of Campbells .... but hey, I like Campbells soup. The ice cream (in my opinion) is obviously the star of the show here......and you really can't go wrong with any of it. OK food, fair prices and pretty decent service. It's not going to win any awards but every now and then it just hits the spot.

Probably the worse service I've experienced at Friendly's, and I've been going for over 15 years. My family and I came here after a very long sad day of grieving the loss of my grandma. My Dad was excited about coming here because they don't have Friendly's in GA, so he makes it a point to stop here before going home. As we walked in we weren't greeted initially (there was a person cleaning the table in the front, they didn't even acknowledge us), until one person walked by and said welcome. We were seated and it just felt like the server wasn't warm, or inviting. It felt like we weren't important and they didn't seem like they wanted to engage with us at all. The place also had a weird odor which I noticed when I walked in. They were wiping down tables which is good. So it was fairly clean, but didn't smell good. We just came for dessert, which was actually good. Overall, disappointing experience. Hoping others will have a better experience, but this will be my last time at this location.

I am trying to figure out a way to explain what the Friendly's experience is for those who have never been. The best I can come up with is imagine if a diner and Denny's had a love child. Friendly's has been around for years. I used to love going to it as a kid. I arrived at this one at about 5:00 on a Saturday. It was pretty crowded. The parking lot was full. As I look around, I see a lot of middle school, high school and families with children there. So it seems like the tradition of an attracting younger taste buds still holds true. A big part of that is they are known for their ice cream, although I used to love their burgers. With that in mind, I ordered the fish and chips. I know, who orders fish and chips at a Friendly's? ME! . The other order at the table was a kid's meal. I think it was a great value. For $7.99 a grilled cheese sandwich, french fries, a drink and an ice cream hot fudge sundae was all covered for that price. Keep in mind those items are interchangeable because the child can pick from a menu of what they want. For example instead of french fries, broccoli could have been chosen. Are instead of grilled cheese, a quesadilla could be ordered. It is also kind of cool that the child menu comes in "sizes". They have one for smaller children and one for bigger ones. That's pretty cool The fish and chips were not the highlight of my visit. The fish came out very hot which is great. However, the texture is a little hard to explain. I was expecting a light and flaky bite. The fish was more "chewy" and it was salty. I put generous amounts of the provided tartar sauce on it. I also ask for extra lemon. I did eat it all, mainly because it was $17. But I will probably not ever order it again. Speaking of the price. I expected a higher grade of fish for that price. Additionally I recall the french fries being better when I was younger. These french fries are the thinner variety almost shoestring like. Unfortunately they get cold rather fast because of the small mass. The kid's plate seemed fine. That makes me happy because this is the kind of place that belongs in your childhood memory. Eating with your parent and just having a good time. The meal came with an activity book and a spoon that changes colors based on the temperature of the food you put it into. Not sure if I'm putting that into my child's mouth, but we may use it for science fun. Keeping in mind that this establishment isn't known for the meals more than it is for the ice cream, let's talk dessert. The kid's meal allows a choice of three different ice cream creations. The classic hot fudge was chosen. And I was told it was very good. I ordered the large sundae. Came with three scoops and three toppings. I had a hard time choosing. I ended up with a mocha ice cream, cookies and cream and chocolate chip. I topped it with hot fudge, cookie dough and marshmallow. At almost $10, it definitely filled me up. It was very sweet and satisfying. I definitely enjoyed the dessert and would come back for that. I definitely still see this as a place for the high school and college crowd. I also think it's a great option for parents who want a simple establishment to take there children to. The charm of Friendly's is its still very old school. No fuss. It's not fancy and you can get a good value on a child's meal. And I don't know any child who's going to complain after eating ice cream! Slight Update: I returned to Friendly's with my son. I ordered the tuna fish melt. I know, again with the fish from friendly's . I don't eat red meat give me a break. Anyhow, that sandwich is the bomb. I bet it's a sleeper on the menu. I enjoyed the tuna fish and fries. If you want to kick it up a notch, get a side of coleslaw with it!

I haven't visited friendly's in over 15 years, and It felt great to be back. I was in the area, and couldn't believe I stumbled across friendly's so close to Brooklyn. Nothing has changed (in a great way). Upon arrival I still got that old school diner feel. There is plenty of seating and fast service. They also have lots of weekly meal deals , in which I'll be coming back to try . I ordered the m&m and Butterfinger friend z for my husband and I . They were soooo good, and still tasted the same as from my childhood. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this friendly's and will be visiting more often .

Took my daughter to Friendly's as a little treat after her first day of kindergarten. The service was good and the lady helping us was very nice. I'm not really an ice cream person myself, and the ambiance isn't my favorite, so I probably wouldn't come here on my own. But my daughter loves their ice cream -- it's usually very good -- and she was happy and enjoyed herself. That's all that really matters, and for that reason, it was a nice visit.

Ready for our ice cream.

Is there anyone out there who is not familier with Friendly's? Year's ago they littered the neighborhoods and today there is just a few of them. The good thing is that they still serve 'awesome' in a ice cream glass. We were six people coming off off of a great sushi dinner. When we finished a friend suggested Friendly's. The perfect combo. We went to one of the few remaining shops in the area and were greeted with a great smile and escorted right to our table. The waitress greeted us in seconds brought water and took our order. I will only speak for myself here. It was a double scoop of chocolate walnut ice cream with swiss chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It's been years since I ordered this at a Friendly's Here is the complete summation of the sundae: AWESOME-AWESOME. Make sure you visit Friendly's when your in East Meadow. Pay no attention to those crazy one star reviews.... Someone had a bad day. KUDO's to the team at Friendly's.

Stopped in for a late lunch with Mom. Friendly service from Sam. We enjoyed our Vanilla Fribble with a triple combo appetizer (mini mozzarella sticks, chicken quesadilla and chicken tenders) while we waited for our main course. I enjoyed my favorite, the Fishamajig platter. My wife liked her double Cheeseburger with bacon platter. Mom thought her hot lobster roll was lacking in flavor. We all split a Caramel Fudge Brownie Sundae dessert. Overall, it was a nice experience thanks to quality service and food. We will be back.

The dining room is anchored by an olive tree that rises improbably from the center of the floor, its branches catching the light from a constellation of milk-glass globes. Along the bar, bottles glow against whitewashed brick, and the marble counter is set with striped linen napkins. The effect is part farmhouse and part supper club, and it is more inviting than either would be on its own. The menu favors familiar dishes executed with care. A glazed salmon arrives lacquered and deeply caramelized at the edges, resting on wilted spinach and a bright hash of corn, peas, and shallot, all bound by a butter sauce worth chasing with a fork. The fish sandwich is a study in restraint: a well-seasoned, pan-crisped fillet, a soft brioche bun, and a tangle of slaw, with a plump pickle and coleslaw alongside, as tradition demands. Dessert is where The Shed allows itself some indulgence. A dense, fudgy brownie, dusted with powdered sugar and set beside a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting into chocolate sauce, recalls childhood without apology. Notably, the restaurant takes its non-alcoholic drinks seriously. The mocktail list is broad and thoughtful, a welcome gesture of hospitality toward diners who would rather skip the spirits without skipping the fun. Service, led on this evening by a warm and unhurried server, matched the room. Tables linger here, and no one seems to mind. The Shed isn't trying to reinvent anything. It simply does the familiar things well, in a room that makes you want to stay for another round of dessert and another hour of talk.

I believe our first visit was almost two years ago, and we've continued coming back ever since. Nestled inside Eisenhower Park and connected to the former Carlyle wedding venue, The Union feels a little tucked away--which is part of its charm. The menu has everything you'd expect from a higher-end steakhouse, but what sets The Union apart is that they also do sushi--and somehow nail it just as well as they do a filet mignon or roast chicken. On our most recent visit, we noticed the menu had been updated. Thankfully, all of our favorites are still there, with just a few tweaks. I also love the new cocktail menu design, which features photos of the drinks along with descriptions. They make a terrific smoked Old Fashioned here, which is generally how I start my meals at The Union. They have a great raw bar along with a huge selection of appetizers. The slab bacon is awesome, and the French dip sliders could easily make a meal on their own despite technically being an appetizer. There's a great selection of steaks, including a couple of dry-aged options for two. Steaks are generally à la carte, but the sides are reasonably priced, mostly in the $10-$15 range. The duck-fat potatoes are excellent, and I'm a big fan of their creamed spinach. Then there's the sushi. Their signature Union Roll is the standout, but honestly, we've had great luck with all of their specialty rolls. Now, do your best to save room for dessert because I'm going to spill the beans on one of The Union's secrets: they have some of the best ice cream I've ever had in my life! I realize it's a little ridiculous to rave about classic vanilla ice cream, but just wait. Take that first spoonful and I guarantee there's a good chance your reaction will be: "Damn, that is some tasty ice cream!" Even the whipped cream is ridiculously good and almost gives the ice cream a run for its money. Expect to leave The Union very full--and usually carrying some leftovers home. The setting is another big plus. Outdoor dining overlooks the golf course and makes for a beautiful backdrop, and when the weather gets cooler, the fire pits on the back patio make it a great place to hang out with a drink. The wine list is solid as well. Valet parking is another nice touch, especially since events at Eisenhower Park on weekends can sometimes make parking and traffic a little tricky. After nearly two years and multiple visits, The Union continues to deliver. Steak, sushi, cocktails, a beautiful setting, and apparently life-changing vanilla ice cream. What more do you need?

She was incredible from start to finish -- attentive, sweet, charismatic, funny, and just genuinely made the whole experience that much better. We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.
