OK, first of all, we went on Father's Day, and Hyannis has the car show so I understand it was crazy busy all day, so I am cutting them some slack. But we also sat down after the crowd had considerably lessened. There were plenty of empty tables when we were sat, both inside and out. We sat down, took a little while to see our waitress, but not terribly so. Drinks arrived relatively promptly. We ordered some oysters as apps, and I had a fried fish sandwich, and my wife had a salad with grilled shrimp. And then we waited. And waited. Finally got the oysters, they were small, and poorly prepped, lots of shell mixed in with the mangled oysters. Eh, it happens. And then we waited some more. And some more. Second round of drinks took a long time to arrive. Finally got our entrees, and the sandwich was cold. The tater tots were hot, but the sandwich was cold. So it wasn't the server's fault the food was cold. The kitchen did a terrible job timing the meal. Hot side, hot shrimp, cold fried fish sandwich. Again, not busy anymore at this time. It's very frustrating to wait 45 minutes for a meal, and part of it was cold. The server said she was very sorry, and asked if I wanted a new one. I certainly did not want to wait even longer. I just dealt. They could've comped me something on the bill, but they didn't. No big deal. But all that said, I think it might be not a bad place on a normal busy day, not a crazy busy day. Like 4-star, the recipes were decent, and the food was fresh. Service was OK, but again, it had been very busy, I'm sure they were trying to get their sidework done after the rush. read more

I don't think the lunch crowd has found this place yet...we were greeted by a friendly host and promptly seated. There was only a couple other tables with guests when we arrived at 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon. The menu has a nice variety of options and we started with clam chowder which was thick and creamy. We all chose something different for our entrees: fish & chips which was a filling portion and cooked perfectly, salad with grilled chicken that could've easily fed 2, a Reuben which was also delicious and a chicken wrap that was quickly gobbled up! We all enjoyed everything and believe me , we are picky I'll definitely return when in Hyannis! My reason for 4 stars; the place seems like a basic small town beach restaurant and nothing Wowed except for the lobster tank at the front door that had some crazy fighting lobsters which was captivating! read more

Unfortunately both were just slightly warmer than luke warm, which took away a good amount of the enjoyment. I'll sum up the review in a couple words, almost perfect. We were looking for a spot that was open a little later in downtown Hyannis, since we were first coming off a whale watching charter. Word to the wise, when trying to figure out where to park as you approach the restaurant, do yourself a favor and drive all the way to the venue regardless of how busy the street looks. They have their own adjacent parking lot. Alright, on to the food and service...and why it was almost perfect. The ambiance is nice, a middle- to upper-class local dining feel. The approach from the waitress was almost instantaneous. She took our drink orders and off she went. By the way, Bloody Mary was pretty decent, but if you're going to order their special one, emphasize that to the waitress and mention it by name. My ordering the Bloody Mary while pointing to the actual item on the special drinks list wasn't enough. I got the plain one. Back a short time later with our drinks, she took our appetizer and dinner orders. Unfortunately, it appeared the kitchen was a little backed up. I watched probably about three trays of food come out over about a 30 minute timeframe. Unfortunately, none of them were ours. It was a Monday, but this restaurant is seated in downtown Hyannis during peak Cape tourism season. When the food did get to us soon after that, the appetizers hit the table less than 5 minutes before the meals did. Fortunately, that's where the criticism stops...the food itself was pretty amazing. The lobster roll might have toppled my favorite place, only 15 minutes away, right off the top of the charts. This one was full of claw meat with no fillers and just the right amount of butter. I'd estimate about a half pound of lobster! The lobster bisque also was well prepared, not too sweet and extremely flavorful. My wife raves about the salmon and, since my son didn't finish his food, I tasted the chicken tenders. They were probably the most amazing chicken tenders I've ever had. Well-seasoned, crispy, and the chicken was moist and tender. As an added bonus, the place is kid friendly and even has a dog menu, if you're into bringing your furry to eateries. I have never seen that before, but as a dog owner it was certainly noteworthy. Definitely plan to hit this place for one of your meals. Here we were back again at Fresh Ketch for lunch, this time celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and my husband's 60th Birthday! Our waitress Maggie gave us excellent service and recommendations. I began with my favorite Lobster Bisque Soup, Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, Fried Seafood Platter of Calamari, Cod, Clam Strips, Shrimp and a glass of white wine. The blueberry lemonade was good but a tad too sweet for me but my company enjoyed it. The Cod Reuben was really good and an interesting spin on a regular Rueben. Went to this place on a Friday at 8 pm in September and there were only 2 people in entire restaurant. Was a little concerning but we gave it a try anyway. I had the sea scallops and he had the smash burger. We had long neck clams as an appetizer. Apparently different than the kind at home. He loved his burger. I loved the sea scallops. Since covid, I will say that the Cape has done some great alterations for indoor and outdoor dining. On Main St in Hyannis, you will notice that the two lane, one way road is now down to one lane, and the other has been sectioned off for more pedestrian walking space and outdoor tables. We stopped here for some apps and drinks and while most of the food was good (the chowder, fried pickles and thai shrimp).. the service was at a snail's pace. We had I think only two rounds of drinks bc each took 20+ mins to get to us. We also had steamers (not good and quite sandy) along with meh oysters. This was one of my 1st restaurant experiences during Covid's craziness. We ate outdoors and the staff did a great job of making everything feel clean and safe. All staff had masks on properly. The tables felt safely distanced from each other AND I saw 2 different larger parties that were separated into 2 tables to adhere to limited party numbers. Instead of regular menus the hostess had plastic placards with QR codes that were wiped down in between guests. With all of these new rules and regulations in place the staff was still friendly and attentive. The overall dining experience still felt normal and pleasant. Tiffany and I are good for finding some awesome happy hours, but the entire state of Massachusetts presents a problem. There's some silly law that doesn't allow the discounting of alcohol at any time nor any form of "unlimited" serving of alcohol, such as a Boozy Brunch. So... to make up for it, places have what's called "Appy Hour". This is when the appetizers or some of them are discounted. So basically it's a happy hour without discounted alcohol. Not all hope is lost... This is the first place we came on Monday and even came back again the next day for an encore! Atmosphere/Appearance: On the right side of the one way Main Street lies this gem. It has its own private parking lot so there's no need to leave your car on the street, unless you plan on bar hopping. You'll have to move it then since the lot is only for this restaurant. There's plenty of outdoor seating given the weather with umbrellas to block the sun. Inside we sat at the bar both times and it was fairly quiet since we were there right at the start of Appy Hour. The bar is hexagonal shaped and centered around a TV while the counter is made of very light woods giving that sort of "island feel". On Tuesdays they play a movie at the bar of their choice, typically it's Cape Cod themed or was supposed to have taken place in Cape Cod. Pretty cool. Service: I forget our bartender's name, but I think it started with an "M". Michaela maybe? I could be wrong, probably am. Anyway, she sort-of rubbed me the wrong was in the beginning, but I warmed up to her sarcastic personality. Lol. No hard feelings. She was very attentive, took great care of us, put up with me and made awesome recommendations. It felt more like she was hanging out with us rather than just serving us. Food: We may have tried everything that wasn't fried on the Appy Hour menu since we came here twice and it was 2 of us. I shall begin! We tried their chicken wings in the buffalo sauce and also with the sweet & sour chili sauce. Tiffany and I both LOVED the sweet and sour sauce. So much we came back here specifically for those wings the 2nd day. Next up was their Buffalo Cauliflower. Absolutely delicious! A great alternative to having some fried wings! Dip them in some bleu cheese and it's like you're eating the real thing! The Scallops & Bacon were very good. Crisp bacon with a soft scallop on the inside went very well with the tangy sauce they're served with. Of course we couldn't pass up those delicious shrimp cocktail! Firm, not too soft, not too hard, great taste. Last, but not least were the oysters. I'm not a fan of oysters at all, so I can't speculate, but at least we tried them. Lol. Perhaps I could try some of the other things on the main menu, but with Appy Hour as good as it is, I don't see myself straying away from it anytime soon. Value: Sunday through Thursday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Fresh Ketch offers "Appy Hour". Twelve of their appetizers are offered at 1/2 price with local oysters, Cape Cod Littlenecks and shrimp cocktail being offered at $0.99 each. The wings were $5.49 for a pound which could be anywhere from 5 to 7 wings. Buffalo Cauliflower is $4.99. You get 5 scallops wrapped in bacon for $6.49 and I already mentioned the raw bar deal. I loved this place! It was cute and serves up some good deals while being within walking distance of some other cool bars. Don't forget to stop in and check this place out! read more

Those came out quick. The second round was about 15 minutes late and came out with our entrees. One of the entrees was cooked exceptionally rare instead of well done x2 so it was sent back. I paused to wait a few minutes so we could maybe eat some together and it turned into 15-20 more minutes. The manager was very understanding and allowed us to leave. The service is even worse and to make matters worse they add in a gratuity of 18% on your check. This experience did occur in August of 2013 but it is a meal that is unforgettable in the worst way. The steamers were disgusting. It was not fresh and was filled with sand. Whoever runs this place should be ashamed of themselves. I did complained and the manager did not care. As an main course I order a Broiled Seafood (cod, shrimp and scallops). Unfortunately, my scallops were not cooked all the way. I must note that I indicated that to the food was not cooked all the way and they took it back and prepared my dish again and cooked it right. Throughout the meal I still did not comfortable with the meal. I would not recommend this establishment.
