Our first experience at a Fresh Chef and unfortunately there probably won't be another. We had dinner at the new Denver location to celebrate a major life event. There were four occupied tables on the bar side where we were seated. There were several waitresses moving among the tables doing waitress things. Our waitress took our order but immediately after leaving the table she was placed in the witness protection program. The other tables each had a waitress and they were constantly checking on the other diners. A sympathetic waitress took pity on us and kindly asked if we needed anything. She refreshed our tea and eventually brought our check. My fiancée ordered the Cajun chicken Alfredo which was ok. I ordered the chicken Marsala which was not. I initially asked the waitress if the pasta was fresh. She told me she didn't know but after some inner dialogue she revised her statement and said everything was freshly made. It was not. When my highly anticipated dinner arrived, the chicken cutlet was not noticeably breaded and was whiter than a Canadian spending February in Myrtle Beach. I rotated the bowl a few times to see it in a better light but, alas, it still appeared to be a bowl of plain pasta and chicken straight from the kid's menu. After a determined search I finally found some sauce hiding beneath the pasta along with one and a half thinly sliced pieces of mushroom.......are the tariffs impacting the mushroom trade? ....... The sauce had no flavor but somehow managed to be lip coating greasy.....probably because of the layer of some indeterminate type of oil coating the bottom of the bowl. If I were a fan of Chef Boyardee the pasta would have been perfect. I was not yet ready to give up on my highly anticipated dinner so I flagged down a waitress (nope, still not ours) and requested more sauce. Seemed like a fairly simple request. A bowl arrived. It appeared to contain Marsala sauce. It did not. In the spirit of true adventure I tasted it. It tasted like a straight up glass of lukewarm Marsala wine with a salt chaser. Not even a rudimentary attempt at reduction but, hey.....it had THREE slices of mushrooms!! The sweet tea was good but I think you have to pay extra for ice. read more

I dont often seen change when we post about unpleasant things but this time was so different, it deserved to be mentioned. Was not a fan of the old manager but this time it was she she was a different person and was actually very nice. Glad to see she took advice and it can only help the restaurant. I would give a zero if that were an option. Our server Zach neglected to come back to our table for our entree orders. We waited for over 25 minutes. We were the ONLY customers in the restaurant at the time!!! Needless to say, my wife and I abruptly left after only eating and paying for our appetizer. We are uncertain if our ethnicity had anything to do with it. However, watching the treatments of others that later entered the building did make us somewhat feel slighted. Sadly, upon getting up to pay at the reception area our server said bye to us. My wife pointed out that our neglect could be considered so extreme that he did not realize he never provided us with a check. Thank God we are honest people. We could have just stormed out in frustration without ever paying a thing. We had high expectations. Now, we are never returning back to this place again. read more

Kale salad. Just wanted to put that out there. It seems to be a crowd favorite, and after dining at Fresh Chef, I see why. I ordered the special that night - some kind of salmon cakes. They were absolutely delicious. Not dry, not too fishy, and perfectly seasoned! My husband ordered one of the burgers on the menu, and he also really enjoyed his meal. What I liked about this place is that you're eating "normal" food, but everything tastes so clean and healthy. Are burgers and fish cakes healthy? No, but when they're prepared so wonderfully, they feel like they are! We will definitely be back to try other options from the menu! read more

Disappointing. Having visited the Mooresville location first, this location definitely falls short in some areas. For starters this restaurant is much smaller and seating is open as is the kitchen. The servers are on the young side which isn't bad, but you can notice the inexperience. On this particular day there was a lot going on, managers or owners gathered at a table and not much customer service going on as with the Mooresville location which was excellent! The food was good, however there were some inconsistencies. In the Mooresville location they serve their pasta with two delicious pieces of garlic bread which compliments the meal perfectly! At this location they serve it with a plain, bland, boring piece of white bread. One thing that annoys me is when I feel rushed, and these young waitresses were rushing us as they brought out our bill without offering us any dessert. I'll typically skip dessert when this happens, but I really wanted a slice of their Key Lime Pie which is actually very good. I definitely won't return to this particular location and instead take the farther trip to Mooresville. It's worth the drive. read more

Ok so I was in town on business for a week and I found this place and wow.... what a find. I ate here everyday for lunch. This place was beyond great. The food was spectacular and the service was just as good. They work as a team here so you are never left hanging. I had the swordfish tacos and the scallops here and I could have ate them over and over. The food going to all the other tables looked delicious as well. I really wish I had one of these next to my house. This place does get pretty busy so if your going around lunch time I would recommend going a little before 12. I highly highly highly recommend trying this place out. Great service, great food, and a clean facility! read more

Love this place. We were there the first night it opened and have been back many times since that day eight years ago.

At first it looks like it would be a regular chain restaurant but it is not. The menu is short but all very good. Shrimp and steak dishes are very good and would definitely recommend. I was confused by the "black and blue" steak names thinking it was the style and temp it was cooked, like Pittsburgh style. Was still very good. Shrimp and grits was very good and not overwhelming with spice to mask the shrimp taste, because this place actually has good seafood. Stopped in driving from Charlotte to Mooresville looking for a healthy salad and was not disappointed! I recommend the Hawaiian chicken salad. We ate lunch at Fresh Chef on Sunday and it was fabulous. We had the herb shrimp salad and grill salmon salad. The service was excellent, the staff made recommendations that did not disappoint. We told the staff we were first time dinners and they provided samples of kale salad and chicken salad. Everyone was so friendly. read more

This place might be my new favorite restaurant in the area. The service is so fast and attentive and the food is great. Prices are very reasonable and most dishes are big enough to take home leftovers! We got the spinach and artichoke dip, Alfredo with shrimp, and chicken stir fry. Great lunch spot. I come here often during the week as my office is close by. My favorites are the black and blue wrap, and the chicken salad sandwich. The fries are great, and I love fries, but the Kale salad is one of the best side options I've ever eaten at a restaurant. It's tender and so flavorful. My wife and I had an early dinner here tonight. We have been here a couple of times already, and have always loved it. Tonight when we walked in, we were greeted with a "Welcome back!", and were promptly shown to our table. The service is always friendly, they get the food out quick, and it's always DELICIOUS. I'm always looking for a place you can get a great steak without breaking the bank, and this is now my go-to. The woman who appears to be the manager is super present, always checking in with the customers to make sure they were completely satisfied with their experience. First timer here. And they earned five stars from right of the bat. Like the name says, food was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent also. We arrived at a busy time but seating was quick and we enjoyed a glass of at the outdoor seating area. I had the ribs, and my girlfriend had the Hawaiian chicken. Both where great. Had 8oz prim rib No way the meat was prime. Spinich was good I went way over my 80 year old budget because this was my semiannual treat. I guess I'll never have another slab of real prime meat. I didn't complain because feedback from old folks just isn't taken seriously. So, I'll just continue to some small bbq place and Take my chances at a far lower price. read more

All of the servers help each other so you are never waiting for someone to fill your drink or bring you something you need. I'm not sure where to start. Lol lets start with when I walked in. It's not clear if it's an order at the counter or wait for a table type situation. I walked up and asked for a table. I started with the smoked salmon bites. These are really good and are really just bites. Four came in the order and didn't last 2 mins. For my entree I ordered the Cajun pasta with grilled chicken. It's a huge portion so be prepared. It tasted delicious!! Very creamy and just literally perfect. The service is quick and the food is quick but taste as good as homemade. It is a little dark in here but I'm not complaining because I just came in off the lake and the less people see of me, the better. Haha. Now that I'm about to leave, I do notice someone greeting everyone as they walk in. Maybe I walked in when she was busy, no biggie. Overall, I recommend this place.
