Oysters
Brooke E.

The menu is very limited (which I knew in advance). We got the oysters (pictured), they were just ok. Shrimp Cocktail (again just ok) and the Crab & Chorizo Croquettes (they were the BOMB). Service was actually phenomenal! He was great! He was very attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu and had the best personality! The restaurant itself is small so be prepared you will be seating extremely close to other people. Also the bar area is small as well. I would go for apps again but not for dinner.

Unbelievable, food and service. It is seafood-centric but not 100% seafood. For example, one of the specials the night we went was a braised lamb shank. The table next to us got the shank and said it was delicious. My wife got a trigger fish in a lemon butter, caper sauce special, and it was amazing as well. This is one of those stick your reputation out there places where you can confidently say, just go!

A cute and cozy spot with a lot of warmth Our servers were very friendly. They even sat down with us and were very enthusiastic about the food which was delicious, well seasoned, fresh, flavorful and creative. It hit all the right notes. We had two small plates (crab chorizo croquettes and charred eggplant) and two entrees (scallops risotto and sablefish -that succotash is divine). All of it was great! The BTG wine list is small, but well curated with excellent options. Dinner is expensive but worth it for the memorable food experience.

Didn't have a chance to take a picture of the beautiful presentation of the lamb shank. Husband devoured it!!

Seaboy restaurant....on our top 3 now!! Maybe #1.... We love the vibe, the music, the staff and the food is exceptional!!! Everything has its own unique and delicious flavor!! We ordered 5 apps last night! Want to try everything!! All were super delicious!! Preston got the lamb shank! Probably the best he ever had! Presentation with everything is beautiful! Our second visit and it was consistent! During the week you MAY get lucky to get a bar seat. Only seats 8 or so. Reservations are required...this is a small space. We love sitting at the Chefs' Counter. Watching the chefs...a well oiled machine. Very upbeat place! Just a really feel good place to enjoy a delicious dinner!!! I got a slice of carrot cake to go. I love carrot cake and this was one of the best I ever had!!!! Yum!!

Oysters on the half shell, Happy Hour special

We popped into Seaboy for an early, unplanned pre-Valentine's Day date night as we'd been wanting to try Seaboy. And wow, what a wonderful experience! At 5 pm, the restaurant was already humming and nearly packed with patrons enjoying the Happy Hour oyster special from 4-6 pm. We were lucky enough to grab a pub table between the bar and front porch which gave us a wonderful view of the kitchen as well as soaking up the atmosphere! Our waiter was Tom, a seasoned and well versed man, that truly made the experience top notch! He took the time to walk us through the menu, explaining the experience the owner, chef wanted his patrons to enjoy while there and did they deliver! We took advantage of the oyster special, and had a dozen on the half shell. We settled on a few appetizers, including the phenomenal crab dip, grouper cheeks and crab and chorizo croquettes that were all unique and out of this world delicious!!! Then we shared the branzino, grilled to perfection and tasted beyond delicious! They had a wonderful bar staff, Dana, a local favorite was slinging drinks offering both NA and alcohol based options. My boyfriend had a delicious NA beer while I tried a bourbon drink and then a gin drink crafted by Dana. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out on this local gem!!! We will definitely be back!! #supportlocal #supportsmallbusinessowners

My husband and I have visited Seaboy three times now, and we've vowed to return at least monthly. We are fans of tapas with big flavors, and Seaboy is so good that they deserve to join our regular rotation. The restaurant itself is small, with only ten tables in the back room (reservation only) and eight tables outside, along with several tables/seats in the bar area (no reservation required). Because they are so small, we are glad they offer earlier reservations (starting @ 4pm) for us early birds who enjoy eating when restaurants are less crowded. We've been able to get seating in the bar without a reservation, too! We have tried seven of their dishes, and here's how I'd rank them - Repeat Dishes (in order of favorites) * Lamb ragu - This dish is a favorite, and it's gotten better each time we've had it. If I came with friends and only got one dish, this is what I'd get without a doubt. * Tuna crudo - Definite repeat, and probably the best tuna crudo we've had anywhere, especially because of big flavors imparted by the Asian chili oil. * Sea bass cheeks/crispy skate wing - Definite repeat with whatever fish they have on rotation. We love their homemade tartar sauce, the light and crispy coating, and the quality of their fish. * Shrimp Skewers - This dish is full of flavor! * Scallops with Rock Shrimp Risotto - Our only large plate, this dish was served with three large scallops and perfectly cooked--and seasoned--risotto. On the Fence * Candied beets - This was a large portion for sharing and tasty, but it could have used more candied walnuts. Skip Next Time * Crab and chorizo croquettes - These were large and well-filled. However, we preferred the other dishes we discovered over this one. Seavoy's drinks are well-prepared with great care, and if you request something off the menu, you'll likely get a special creation by the mixologist. The Bulletproof Boulevardier & jazzed up French 75 were some of the best we've ever had! Service has always been impeccable, and the dishes were timed well enough that we never had more than one at one time. The plates also looked like a lot of care was factored into the presentation. They gave us fresh plates after our courses, which I really appreciated. I do wish they offered tableside payments via Apple Pay--or at least via a QR code. However, that won't deter us from being regulars! They have recognized us each time we've had a repeat visit. I love their attention to food, service, and hospitality, and am so glad we have such a great restaurant close to home!

We have been eyeing this restaurant from across the street for months. I'm so happy that we finally made a reservation and gave it a shot. This restaurant has such a cool, funky vibe. The hostess was so welcoming and projects an era of we've got you and you're going to have a wonderful dining experience this evening. The menu was just a page of the most delicious, memorable attention to detail options that will make you want to come back and experience all of them very soon! The entire staff assisted us with water, filling wine glasses, setting, cleaning plates and serving the most delectable dishes that we had chosen. We visited with another couple and opted for 3 appetizers and 2 dinners. You know it's a great place when you're talking about coming back as you're exiting the restaurant and not even off of the front porch yet.

Sherry for birthday - sweet gesture

Can I give this 10 stars? We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and had the best experience. We sat at the counter, which I highly recommend. It was so fun and impressive to watch the chefs cook, communicate, and work together -- you can tell they love what they do. We tried the grouper cheeks, lamb ragu, swordfish, and octopus, and everything was absolutely delicious. Every dish was packed with flavor and so fresh. The banana bread for dessert was amazing too. We both had Old Fashioneds and they were perfectly made. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and Johnny, the owner and head chef, was right there in the mix making sure everything ran smoothly. You can tell this is a special place run with real passion. Can't wait to come back!!

Amazing scallops and risotto. Perfectly cooked, perfect texture and perfectly seasoned.

What an amazing experience. The service, the food and value make this place a true find! I will be back as much as possible to support this local spot. Ps. I live in FL Simply WOW!!!

Wow! We ate at Seaboy for our anniversary and it was worth it! Since moving from out of state, we have struggled to find good food in Charlotte. This is a top spot and we will come back. The oysters are the closest you can get to being in New England territory. We also had grouper cheeks, the mushroom toast, and split the steak. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The spot is so cool. It feels like you should be at a beach, yet it's still warm and cozy, and romantic. The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended a great bottle of wine and we had several people bring our food and/or check in on us-but it wasn't too much. 10/10. I love a handwritten card. I keep them. See photos. I will be keeping this little "card" that may have felt like a small little gesture, but it meant a lot to us. Bonus points. 15/10.

Mocktail - our server Joe asked what I typically like and don't like in a drink and the bar created a delicious mocktail off of that.
Erica B.

This is one of the best meals I have ever had! When we got there, we were greeted so nicely by the hostess. The restaurant was busy, nice vibe and decor. Our server joe was outstanding! He educated us on the menu, and let us take our time and was also extremely attentive during the whole meal. The Caesar salad was amazing. GET THE LAMB RAGU- It was absolutely fabulous! I had the scallops which were so amazing and the shrimp in the risotto were great. My husband had the swordfish and he loved his meal. For dessert we had a delicious lime meringue treat which was light, great texture and delicious. Also, the bill was reasonable for all the high quality food and drinks we had. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Chef Jonathan putting the finishing touches on the Yellowfin Tuna dish. What a great show!
Joe M.

Perfect as always! My 7th or 8th trip and perfection every time. I tried the flounder this time and it was terrific. The meringue topped lime cream desert is also a favorite. Every experience here was perfect in food, service and ambiance. If you get the possibility get one on the 4 seats at the chef's counter and watch magic happen!

sorry I didn't get any photos of the food

What an incredible experience! I wasn't sure that seating at the chef's counter was the right choice for my group but I was wrong. The drinks were amazing, watching the chef and staff cook was freaking incredible, and the food, wow, excellent! We have one of everything from the small bites section of the menu.

The bar was a big attraction, they also had great outdoor seating in the front and a really nice patio off to the back . Inside seating also nice. Big red couches were super cool ! The menu is awesome ! So many cocktails and ones I can't find in a lot of bars that I love . Brownie points for that! The food menu is great too, small plates and larger and nice bar food not your usual greasy fare. More Mediterranean vibe on the food. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were cool and laid back and engaging without being overly so. We had the Bijou and the vieux carre cocktails which I find hard to find in most really good bars. Here they were and made really well too. I know they require ingredients not all bars carry or can get in NC. We also had the Naan app which comes with tzatziki and the naan had a nice layer of zaatar spice on it . Went well with out drinks. I loved the Bijou . Such a good spirit forward drink. The bartender gave us a complementary shot of a bijou based drink. Had a little cinnamon to it but was good ! Nice touch as we were leaving ! We had a great time here before our next spot. Loved everything about this place, will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, this latest menu feels like a big step back. So many longtime staples are gone: no fries, no Brussels, no burrata, no flatbreads, and even the steak has disappeared from the mains. What's left feels repetitive, with multiple dishes centered around the same basmati rice and salad combination. We also tried the two new "for the table" additions, and neither felt worth the price. The "caviar" is simply roe at $25, and the deviled eggs with roe at $17 were underwhelming. Unless some of the old favorites return or there's more variety added, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, aside from maybe Flight Night.

The extensive menu of shareable plates offers something for every palate, from the tasty Fettucini with Roasted Duck Ragu and flavorful Braised Short Ribs to the amazing Oxtail Empanadas. Service was excellent on our visit and prices were very reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Parking is free and super-easy, but reservations are highly recommended -- especially for weekend visits. My only gripe was the tightness of the space, which makes intimate conversation a bit challenging and the tables a bit crowded -- especially when you order a variety of plates. Chef Erick + team take every measure to prevent cross contamination for those with allergies - whether seafood or gluten. I also love the way their set up is: order your drinks from king canary, order your food from the Marlee Jeans side. It's perfect for gathering with a group as they give you a number tent and the server/food runner brings you the food as soon as it is prepared. In my opinion, this prevents food from sitting in the windows and getting cold cause "it's not my table." The concept of gathering your own utensils (not plastic) is spot on as it allows those who only want to drink and sit and socialize not feel pressured to order a full sit down meal, thus washing cutlery that's never been used. For this most recent visit, I took advantage of their snow-weather special: $30 for 1 dozen raw oysters as well as their lobster Mac and cheese. Coming out hot and bubbly with a cheese crust, I had to wait for the Mac and cheese to cool off to eat. I sat at the raw bar and watched Chef Erick personally shuck my oysters. I am a Lobster Roll enthusiast, I have eaten Lobster Rolls from every north east coastal state and everywhere else I go - if there's a Lobster Roll on the menu there's a good chance that's what I'm getting. Unfortunately this one was one of my least favorites. There was no hint of sweetness, it was bitter and overly seasoned. The lobster meat itself was fine although I had to pick shell out of my mouth 3 different bites, and the flavors were just off to me. The roll was good, but we all know the star of the show is the lobster and it was just not doing it for me. The wings were dry. That's basically a deal breaker right off the bat, if the chicken isn't tender and juicy it's hard to enjoy them. I also had multiple flats with broken bones. I got the Cajun dry rub which was pretty good, but on a overly cooked dry wing it ends up overwhelming. You need a juicy wing to complement a strong seasoning. My first experience was right after they opened maybe a year ago or so, so I wanted to give them another try. Maybe they do good stuff with other dishes based on the reviews, but my experiences have been underwhelming.
