First time at this location. It's a nice spot in downtown Oconomowoc. No street parking here, but there are a couple of public parking lots close by. A couple of small café tables out front. Big glass windows let in lots of natural light. Inside, there are tables for small groups along with a couch. It has a nice, casual feel. Came with a friend early in the morning. Got a friendly greeting from the barista. Ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, extra foam). They don't serve drinks in mugs, so I had to settle for a paper cup (not my favorite). They have a large assortment of croissants to choose from -- I picked the Blueberry Cream. They didn't have other bakery items (no muffins, no scones). There was only one person working, but they did a good job keeping up with the slow stream of customers. They seemed to handle the rush just fine, with a pleasant smile for everyone. The drinks and pastries were very good. Most people who came in got their drinks to go, but a few stayed inside. Tip....make sure you get there early: we arrived about an hour after they opened and they were sold out of the chocolate filled and plain croissants. I was totally bummed out as I really was looking forward to a chocolate filled croissant with my coffee. Instead we got the goat cheese croissant, prosciutto croissant and a baguette. Our favorite was the goat cheese croissant; unfortunately, there was not much goat cheese in the croissant with the entire one side missing goat cheese. The croissants are light and flaky. They are quite large and easily shareable amongst a couple of people. The outside does not have a sign, so it's easy to drive by Fresh Baked (we did several times). There is no parking in front, but there are several public parking lots close by. Fresh Baked also serves Valentine coffee. The space is pretty tiny, but they do have a table inside and outside to sit at. read more

My boyfriend picked us up coffee on 4/6/24- after taking a sip I realized there were aunts in my coffee. Further investigating there were over 10aunts in one cup of coffee. I proceeded to call the store to let them know they have this issue and need to take a further action due to serving customers coffee containing aunts. The sales associate immediately said "oh yeah. We've been having an aunt issue this week" and offered to have me come back to pick up another cup. I would not recommend anyone going to this location. The people are very nice, however seems to not be concerned in the slightest they ARE SERVING AUNTS IN COFFEES. read more

This is my new favorite place to take my friends to in Oconomowoc. The pastries are very delicious. Not super sweet and sugary like typical American pastries are. They are flaky and have a perfect balance of flavors, in my opinion. The coffee is great, they have the best decaf espresso in oconomowoc. The shop itself is small with only three small tops and one 5 person table and it's a little tight inside. But they also have a few tables outside that you can sit at in the warmer months as well. This is definitely a place to stop in if you are visiting for a weekend and want a memorable, unique and tasty breakfast. read more

Incredibly horrible customer service. I was walking around the area with my daughter and stopped in for a croissant after already getting a coffee from another business. We sat down outside to the eat our croissant and an employee (man with a French accent) came out and said we couldn't sit there with our coffee because it wasn't purchased there. We went back again last week to try their new location. First it was very hard to find. Neither their website or social media has what was the correct address. Actually their Instagram had no address no website or no phone. Who doesn't have that? Walking in it looks chic ok catering to a certain summer crowd I see. Looking over the case I picked several all different kinds for book club friends. The lady at the counter seemed nice but not friendly. She disappeared after the order. What I don't understand is why they don't have boxes to put larger orders in. Instead they put them all in smaller bags then packed them on top of each other. I had picked tarts that were on the bottom with the fruit covering the bag. And back to the tarts the filling looked and tasted like canned pie filling and the dough was so cooked it was dry and crumbled when you touched it making it a mess. For the price you are paying over $6 it better be hand made rather than looking like it was purchased at Costco. There was one fruit vanilla thing that had crumbled outside but raw inside. So I don't see an improvement at all and one was over $7. Yeah no! This is so not worth any price. Very upsetting that I paid over $40. If you want to waste money go for it. One word. Well, at least one that I can share. @!$#* delicious! Ok, how about "foodgasm"? A single bite of the simple apple fruit tart, crackly, crispy, and sweet, and I knew I'd found my favorite treat in the area. I've yet to try the plain croissants that they are quickly becoming famous for, but you'd better get there very early or call as they sell out immediately. To be fair they have many croissant flavors that are equally wonderful, so take your pick. You can't go wrong. This will be a gem that I will definitely share with family when they visit and for the occasional special treat. The service is also great and owners are very friendly! I suppose for the US this isn't terribly overpriced, but compared to similar pastries in Europe this place is quite expensive. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place since they opened last week! We are so excited to welcome such delicious pastries to our small lake town. I waited outside with our puppy while he went to pick out some some goodies. I would say that as a week old business they performed as expected, meaning there's still room for improvement. I'd recommend looking at the wait times, and looking at the set up of the space and bakery to make sure it's operating at min times. Overall the pastries (which, let's be real. Are the REAL reason why people are wanting to travel so far to check this place out) are 100% worth it. The chocolate croissant was a delicate mix of sweet and salt. The brioche was melt in your mouth. Anyone who is in town or driving by needs to check this place out!! Hard work is put into those flaky handful of goodness and you can taste it! read more

I've been here a few times. The chocolate brioche are fabulous and there are some tasty items there to explore. The new location is better and has a nice atmosphere. Regarding service, when the owner is not at the register, all is well. However, I have not been happy when the owner is there. Simple questions such as "do you have a good supply of plain croissants today?", should not be answered with "of course, we are a croissant bakery". Or, when I ask, "Do you take Google pay?", don't respond in a snotty tone, "of course, we live in America". Just say, how many do you need and yes, we take google pay. Also, I must say, for the price ($4.25/croissant), you're better off getting them at Costco for $.75/croissant. I spent $35 for 8 croissants that cost me $12 at Costco. They are just as good when crisped in a toaster oven, and without the attitude. read more

High quality French bakery. Most will tell you the chocolate croissant is the best but I preferred the Nutella croissant. Get to the bakery early as they have sold out of items both of my visits. Prices are slightly high but not once you figure in quality. Just moved to Oconomowoc and am sure my Wife and I will be back here many more times. read more

Good but not great. I had higher hopes after reading all the reviews. My husband took me here for breakfast after a friend recommended this place. I ordered the chocolate croissant and the chocolate brioche bread. The croissant was good but hardly any chocolate inside. And reading the awesome reviews of the brioche bread I was disappointed. For Patrons who want to support people who have the need of a service animal, I implore you NOT to patronize Fresh Baked Cafe. I was immediately told upon entering the shop that my service dog could not come in because of health code laws. I tried to explain that under ADA law, my service animal could accompany me in the shop but I was not listened to. I was told my service animal could wait outside the shop while I placed my order. What the owner does not realize is that federal law prohibits this kind of discrimination. Furthermore, federal law supersedes local health codes. The only reason I could have been asked to remove my service dog is if he had been out of control or he posed a direct threat to the health or safety of others. Neither of those conditions were even remotely in evidence. Not all disabilities are visible. If a person has a service animal, it's because they need one to navigate daily life. NO croissant or pastry is worth the humiliation of being told to leave your service animal out of the shop. read more

I visited their new location in Brookfield. It was a fun treat and made us feel like we were traveling overseas to get croissants. The croissants were flaky. We got the Nutella, chocolate and raspberry filled croissants. They were amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out. It is a hidden gem. read more

Disappointing. They are not set up to be a real retail business. The bakery may be good but poor business operations skills made it an unpleasant experience. Arrived Saturday morning at 8am, their sign and web page state it opens at 8am, the owner tells me they are not opening until 8:30am but they have a stand at the farmers market. i walk down to the farmers market and they do not have a stand so I walk back to the bakery. It is 8:15am, they are now open and there is a line out the door. I wait for 30 minutes in line - not sure why they are so slow to serve customers - and get to the front of the line to learn that they are sold out. We are informed that there are items in the oven which will be ready in 20 - 30 minutes. There oven is a dorm size 4 shelf oven. Clearly, they are set up to be a farmers market vendor, not an actual bakery. read more

I was excited to give a new bakery a try and felt annoyed when I left. You can tell they are new and you'd think they didn't know how to run a bakery business. Very disappointed. We came from Milwaukee and went 25 minutes out of our way to go before we went on a road trip. Worst decision. They didn't have any self serve coffee left min morning and didn't have one ready when that one ran out and they said it would be at least 5 minutes. I'm sorry, but that's not acceptable. It's appreciated that they wanted to give us a refund, but we just wanted the coffee we ordered for our road trip. We would have ordered a latte, but there weren't any flavors to add to the latte. Weird. This is common sense if you know how to run a bakery to have your self serve coffee ready with a back up. I ordered a heated up quiche to go. It was luke warm at best on the corners and cold cold in the center. If I wasn't hungry, I would t have bothered eating it. We took the time to support this new business and will not go back again. Hopefully they can get it together soon. Nice people, so I hope they see this as a lesson learned. read more
