The bread is fresh all day and the sandwiches and pastries are delicious. Good service too!

Fresh Baguette - Sunny side croBagel ! Def recommended! - Bakeries Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Quaint little French bakery on the corner of Wisconsin and S St just on the edge of Georgetown. The ambiance here really can't be beat you legitimately feel like you're ordering pastries at a little cafe in France. There was even a French radio station on over the loud speaker at just the right volume along with an offering of packaged French groceries like Lu brand Biscuits. The inside is dominated by a large glass countertop/display with a wide assortment of just about every French pastry imaginable. Four white tables set up for 2 if you'd like to eat in store. Self serve bread area with a lot more variety than you'd expect for this little store front. Service was friendly and didn't take too long. read more

Chain or not, I like this place. The service was very friendly and the pastries were delectable. I had the ham and swiss croissant, and the wife had the everything bagel croissant. Both were so buttery and flavored to a tee. We stopped another day and got some more little tarts and chocolate mini torte. All items are delicious. You can confidently stop here and get anything you would like. It will be awesome. I call this the rich man's Dunkin', and I am good with that style of life. read more

I always have a wonderful experience at Fresh Baguette in Alexandria. The atmosphere is lovely, but the highlight of every visit is the exceptional customer service. The staff goes out of their way to be warm, attentive, and helpful, making sure every customer leaves with a smile, especially Efrata and Jeanine; Whether they are busy or not, the genuinely good service never falters. It's a wonderful spot that I can't recommend enough! read more

Delicious desserts and welcoming atmosphere. The shop is small, but is cozy. Two desserts was $14.50 before tip, which is on the expensive side. Overall, experience was great. read more

Those baguettes sure were fresh! This bakery was a bit of an uphill trek from Georgetown but was totally worth it. Inside they have a handful of seats but it's pretty quaint. I stopped in on a Saturday morning and they had a great selection of pastries and bread. I got a whole wheat sourdough and it was nice a crusty with a great flavor. Most of the loaves were ~$8 which I thought was a fair price! I also got a kouign amann which flaky and sweet. Overall, would definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're in the area! read more

Great customer service. I visited on 7/31 in the morning. The two young men who were working were some of the nicest I have encountered here in DC. I wanted a mini baguette for my daughter for breakfast. Was greeted as soon as I walked in. They only had full size so I said "ok" and started to leave but then the young man said "I can sell you a half". I asked if they had butter. "Yes!" Was the answer. He nicely packaged up the butter and bread to go and my daughter is now enjoying a very fresh half baguette that she has devoured. She said it was "REALLY good". This is from a bread snob. lol. Highly recommend at least for the baguettes. There others items looked great too. Made me sad I had already bought a croissant from Starbucks. ‍ read more

Let me start by saying this has always been a favorite of mine-- from the Crogels to the sandwiches (croissants are okay). But what happened this weekend was frankly unacceptable. Please let this review serve as a warning for other guests to always ask for a receipt. Or to stop coming because of the despicable ill intentions of this cashier. When we were checking out, the cashier did not list the items before using the electronic tablet that already asks for tip and tip swipe or tap to pay. Because this has never occurred to us before, we simply paid. When we felt something was off about the number, we asked for a receipt while we were waiting for our food, and the cashier looked annoyed and perhaps purposefully confused when we asked why the total was not what was on the menu. He handed over the receipt silently, and we pointed at how there were two additional Pelligrino's at $3 each ($6 total) that were added to our items! We were very calm in pointing that out, and the cashier didn't even apologize, almost like he was caught with his tail between his legs. And proceeded to click on the tablet. After a long while, he said he refunded us. Okay? For the entire meal as an apology or just the two expensive drinks that should've never been charged? When we asked after he left for a while, he said just the two drinks. We learned our lesson this time and asked for a receipt, instead he said he couldn't give it to us... Of course, in the grand scheme of things $6 overcharge is not the end of the world for my partner and I. But it left such a sour taste in my mouth. First, the $6 felt very purposeful where it's not high enough to be noticed (and I genuinely doubt I would've caught it if not for my partner who does math quickly.) Second, the absolute lack of shame for overcharging customers is hard to comprehend. The cashier was not regrettable or even slightly apologetic at all! There was zero shame, perhaps developed through habitual scamming habits, and I can only imagine the countless of other people that is getting ripped off at this store. It really is sad I have to end my relationship with a bakery which I have enjoyed for so long, but I just don't see how I can frequent a business that has lost my trust completely. Extremely disappointed, and can only hope others stay alert if they must go here. read more

I've been here once and would like to return to be able to give a more thorough review. However, the one time I went, I was seeking a quality French bakery that sells (you guessed it) quality french baguettes. This location claims to be in Georgetown, but I'd say it's more in Glover Park (just to know if you're planning on making the trek up Wisconsin from M St). The interior is pretty cute: simple and small, but cute. The employees were very nice and helpful as well. I ordered the organic traditional baguette and a cappuccino. The coffee was good, and the baguette was fine. It didn't necessarily blow my mind, but it did the trick. I will say the pastries that they had on display looked phenomenal, so I definitely want to return so I can sample some of those. read more

Saw this place on a tiktok and was craving a croissant so we stopped by. It's a small bakery/cafe and everything looked delicious. The baked goods were pricey, but expected in that area and high quality. Mainly wanted to try the Cro'Gels, which are croissant-bagel sandwiches. The bacon/avocado one was delicious, large, and filling, and my girlfriend loved her lox one as well. But my favorite part was definitely the chocolate croissant. Not pictured because it was gone quickly. read more

Happened upon this French cafe while doing a little shopping on Christmas Eve. This location is newer than our go to Bethesda cafe and offered all the baked treats that we're accustomed to. Staff were helpful and pleasant. We ordered the Norwegian sandwich, flourless brownie (taste just like the traditional ones), an eclair, and brioche buns. Everything was extremely fresh. There are a few counter seats available, but most patrons ordered their coffee and food to go. So stop in! There's "Something Delicious Inside". read more

Fresh Baguette - Cro'Gel Sandwich Norwegian - Bakeries Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I stopped by Fresh Baguette a few weeks ago when I was in Georgetown after a bakery I had intended to visit had a line too long for me to wait. The service at Fresh Baguette was great, but I didn't love what I ordered. My raclette tart was less tart than bread roll with raclette on top, and my canelé was fine but seemed just a little overdone. I also had a drip coffee (there's a self-service table). They have quite a selection of pastries, as well as some French items for sale. The shop is plain and simple, but quaint, with one table and some bar seating inside. Overall, it was nice, but the food just didn't hit the spot for me. read more

i am sure many cultures would consider this an abomination but to whatever culture i exist in this is holy - this bakery is so far up wisconsin I was basically sweating by the time I got there but I deem it worth the half marathon - meet a crogel, a bagel and croissant fusion. I will always swear by a pure bagel but the textures of this made it so light, flakey, and fluffy that it was perfect with the mayo and fresh veggies. - I don't think with plain cream cheese this would fly but with a dessert cream cheese or this turkey breaat avocado lunch vibe it certainly did - also since I ordered online as a first timer I got money off so this was $7! not too shabby and definitely a must hit deal read more

I LOVE FRESH BAGUETTE! Easily the best bakery in DC. The bread and croissants are made fresh daily. The baguettes are great take aways for picnics or to bring to a friend's house as a host's gift and are only like $4. The coffee isn't great but it is made fresh. The stars of this place are their croissants- they KNOW what they're doing!! Flaky and buttery and tender- ugh! So good. Can't go wrong with the chocolate, almond, or plain croissants. I always get them for when loved ones visit. Also, they have a croissant shaped like a bagel called a crogel and they make it a sandwich!! The tomato pesto crogel is one of the best things I've ever eaten and I crave it constantly!! This will always be a fav of mine. Fast service, great food, and when the weather's cooler there is nice outdoor seating on R street. LOVE!! read more

I've walked past Fresh Baguette on multiple occasions and final decided to stop by! Located on the boundary of Glover Park and Georgetown, this cute bakery has many many pastry options as well as some beverages. I wanted to take advantage of a Postmates coupon, and placed an order of the ham & cheese croissant, Nutella croissant, and the mini lemon meringue tart. I had also placed an order of the Suisse croissant but that wasn't available so they gave me 5 madeleines to make up for it since I had already paid through the app (I was given an option of getting a refund, or choosing from 3 other pastry options that were available). I especially enjoyed the Nutella croissant, which had a very distinct Nutella taste! All of the croissants tasted very fresh and were also fluffy and warm to the taste. The madeleines were also very light and tasty, I had to try not to finish it all on one go! The ham & cheese croissant tasted a little plain, however, and I think that it could have used a little more of a sauce since it was a little dry, or maybe the cheese could have been a tard bit meltier. And the lemon meringue tart was quite small in size, but I guess it was a mini serving. But in general, I did enjoy my orders and will be happy to stop by again to try some more pastries! read more

Best croissant in Georgetown. The crogels (croissant bagel) are especially great brunch item

Although the pastries and breads looked delicious, their taste was lackluster. We picked up an Organic Superseed Baguette, Cro'Gel, Danish Apple, Mini Plain Croissant, and four Plain Croissants. You would expect a place named Fresh Baguette to sell better baguettes. The crust was so tough that we had to yank with our teeth to get a bite. Due to the dryness, it was hard to chew the bread. However, the earthy flavors of the seed mix brought a good flavor profile to the bread. The plain Cro'Gel was our favorite item - it was flavorful and buttery. We would be interested in trying a Cro'Gel sandwich. The other items (Danish Apple, Mini Plain Croissant, and Plain Croissants) were crispy and flakey. They felt buttery but did not taste buttery at all. The apple caramel center was good, but not remarkably better than something that could be purchased at the grocery store. In my opinion, they were not worth the price. read more

Overall: Very good bakery with all fresh pastries - well staffed, and easy access to the store (on a weekend when the bank across the street is closed). Highly recommend! Tastiness: Very good - for the croissants there is a nice balance between buttery and crispy/flaky. We tried the mini croissant, the almond croissant, a pumpkin spice pastry (similar with a croissant in texture), and a baguette. We had the artisanal baguette, which was a little too crispy, with a pretty hard shell. Presentation: Traditional presentation with pastries visible behind the glass. Service: Quick and on-point. Ambiance: This is mostly a pick-up place where you get to select your pastries, coffee, maybe pick-up a jar of chocolate-hazelnut spread (a version of Nutella) and get going. They do have some window seating and large windows to enjoy people watching. Cleanliness: Neat store and the staff was wearing the appropriate gloves for serving and handling trays (in/out of the oven too). Price: $16.71 for the above mentioned products. Well worth it. read more

Great small shop to buy freshly baked bread, pastries, or grab a cup of tea /coffee to go with a slice of quiche for light breakfast or lunch. I made two visits, both times I had Ham&cheese quiche that I asked to warm up. It was light, with a thin base and a crispy crust. Excellent to my taste. On my first visit in late afternoon, I also tried eclairs and a hazelnut& raspberry pastry which were ok but nothing outstanding. Staff are wearing masks, there is a posting in the door restricting the number of customers inside to 3. Much appreciated read more

I was strolling around Glover Park when I came across this little cafe and pastry shop. I was torn between getting a cherry croissant, a raisin bun, or an apple turnover. They also have a pretty decent selection of cakes and pies. I could have gotten all three, and then some, but I decided on the turnover. I also ordered a medium coffee to go along with it. There were two employees who helped me, and they have some good teamwork going on here. There were only two tables situated outside, and only a couple more inside, but I was fortunate to find a spot along the long table by the front window. The pastry was mad delicious, and I was tempted to order a second! Now I will venture on down Wisconsin Avenue to Georgetown. read more

I go out of my way for good bakeries, including hiking all the way to Georgetown. At first impression, the shop smelled divine, of butter and freshly baked bread. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the counter looked absolutely amazing with fully-stocked pastries and viennoiserie. They had loaves of bread on the shelf, which were still warm when I arrived!! I got wholewheat sourdough and it was delicious. Very good crust and mildly sour. I also picked up a cinnamon bun which looked more Swedish than the American version that's drenched in icing. It was ok. The dough is puff pastry instead of brioche so pretty light and airy. The flavor was subtle and not too sugary or cinnamony. read more

About a 1-1.5: I was pretty excited to check out Fresh Baguette, as it seems to be a newer addition to the Georgetown/Glover Park area. They have two other locations in MD (Bethesda and Rockville). Their menu includes seasonal and special items (such as galette des rois, fig baguettine, and pear almond tarts), various breads (traditional baguette, sesame baguette, poppy seed baguette, etc.), sandwiches, salads, pastries, sweets, and beverages. Seeing some of the bakers baking and bringing out fresh baguettes/bread and putting them on the shelves was a sight to see! However, the positives seem to just end there. What was super off-putting was that while there were several employees behind the cashier/bakery case, there was no greeting and no offering of any assistance. Mind you, this place is not even that big and is literally a corner bakery, and patrons who are entering and exiting the premise is very obvious. I thought that the items would make up for it, so we ordered the Ham & Cheese Croissant, a Kouign-Amann, and a croissant. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy each of these. The Ham & Cheese Croissant didn't seem fresh and it was chewy, rather than buttery and flaky; I wasn't a fan of the type of ham that was used, and there seemed to be minimal cheese. The Kouign-Amann was not tasty, and, again, tasted as if it has been sitting out for a while - it didn't come close to comparing with the bakeries in Montreal and in NYC. The croissant, thinking that would be straightforward, was forgettable; it was also cold. If there was some effort in offering recommendations, the option to warm the items up, and/or just being receptive in general, I think that could have made somewhat of a difference? The level of customer service was just a tad embarrassing. Either way, I was glad I was able to check this place out, but would not return. +underwhelming pastries +non-existent customer service +limited residential parking read more
