Vegetarian or vegan, yes! Gluten free options, yes! Frederick Social has something for everyone, even gluten removed beer and non alcoholic beers, yes, more than one to choose from. I love the self-pour taps too! I can go down the line and have a sip, a pint or anything in between! They even have milk bottles for a larger pour, or water. We enjoyed our food greatly as well. My darling had the tacos with vegan chorizo added, and I pigged on hot cauliflower bites and chips with two dips. They have lots of dips, including a tasteful variety of hummus, and there's a secret level of heat you need ask for if you want your bites to be extra-hot. The venue is clean, and it's actually suitable for a wide variety of ages, from tots to teetering old farts like us. We parked over by the pool park, and we took full advantage of the two hour limit. There is also a parking garage next door. The owners were there and did the meet and greet thing, very personable and the mister gave us some great tips for Maryland breweries to try. I hope we can go back before we migrate in October, otherwise I'm going to make my darling park the RV at the mall so we can hit them on our return trip in the spring! read more

This is the first yelp review I've ever written and I was only inspired because this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. My party didn't drink here, only got food which took nearly 50 minutes to arrive. We got the tacos, the bison cheeseburger bowl and the okie dokey artichokey bowl. All order had at least one request that wasn't honored. The worst was them not honoring my gluten free request to remove croutons, and when they were removed they forgot my chicken which was an extra 2 dollars. The food was very sad. My salad was literally spinach tomatoes and artichokes with a small lump of pesto. The cheeseburger bison bowl, nearly 17 dollars, was cold and had a small spoonful of meat. The tacos were ok. The real kicker was the fact the foods was served in plastic bowls from target and when I asked for a fork they said they were out. How do you run out of forks??? Also forgot to mention it was so loud I couldn't hear what my table mates were saying. All this was blamed on them being very busy. Frederick Social is a great addition to downtown Frederick. This fun place is a spacious gathering spot with indoor and outdoor seating areas and a great variety of beer and wine as well as food offerings. I was very impressed with the appetizers we ordered and the beer and wine available to try. So- let me first start by saying the criticism in this review is bc I see the potential and want to see growth, not bc it's a bad spot. When you enter Fredrick social you need an employee at their front desk who will open your tab and provide you the card used to access drinks. Someone reached you the proper use of the equipment and you're off! The variety for drinks is excellent. On tap cocktails, wine, mead, ciders, and of course BEER. I went for the Hidden Hill Chambourdin Red Blend (wine,) I'm a wine club member there and clearly pretty partial! Obviously if you're already into supporting local, this place has all the micro spots on tap so you can enjoy your favorites in a new environment. My big criticism is the food. I think it could be tons better. I see the approach for cleaner and healthier, but the price and the quality do not match. My I paid approximately $18 for the brisket nachos that I ate on my own. There would not have been enough protein to share with other people. The brisket was good but nothing more than your Sunday potluck slow cooker version. For $18, it could certainly have been better. My friend ordered the tacos and they were pretty sad and served with a salad. Tacos already being light, he wasn't filled and immediately requested we stop someplace next that could offer food that was more substantial. I was actually pretty amped about the food going here bc I was under the impression I'd be more swooned. Seeing as you serve yourself beverages I just see that more food options for better prices seems like a reasonable expectation. Let me not take away from the fact that it's a well lit space in a really great spot on the creek. It's family friendly and offers toys and games, for kids of all ages! I'm sure some of my criticisms are very much from the early stages of opening and I don't have a single doubt they will grow. Seriously, such a great spot and I hope to see more from them! I truly appreciate the concept behind this establishment; however, I went with a group and our experience was not favorable for a number of reasons. To start, the service was good and the atmosphere is comfortable (eatery style layout with shared eating and drinking spaces), both a plus. Upon entering, customers must provide the establishment with a credit card and in-turn, you get a booze card that allows one to consume a variety of beers and other drinks, as desired, in a self-serve manner and I don't love this aspect of this business. Second, if you don't drink booze, you are extremely limited to choices and for the teas (they only offer hot tea, no iced tea), they were out of most of the options. Additionally, the number of staff are minimal and we ran into continued issues with getting someone's help (silverware not being available and other issues). Finally, we tried a sampling of different appetizers and although they were good, the food is left on the counter for the customers to monitor and pickup (customers are supposed to receive a text when the food is ready and that didn't happen for us). Again, I truly appreciate the concept of this place and I wish the owners great success, but this place is not for me. read more

What an awesome spot! I finally got to visit and it was so much fun! They have a 50-tap PourMyBeer self-pour beverage wall with a variety of cold brews, beer, wine, and more. They even have a charity tap (48) that changes every month so when you pour from that tap all the profits go to that charity! How cool is that! I loved their food (tried the vegan wrap), especially because I am vegetarian and they have a ton of veggie and even vegan options! They support local farms and you can tell that the owners have put some serious thought in how their food is sourced. It's also a good place to bring your whole family as they have a kids' corner so young children have a space to play while adults are having fun at the PourMyBeer wall! Walking down the canal walk and found this gem! It's a self serve bar basically. You check in with ID & CC. They give you a card to activate the juice. They have A LOT of craft beers, liquors & wine. I literally just talked to the owner and she was a doll. They've been open since 12/21. The atmosphere is soooo laid back. There is in/out seating with the walls being glass garage doors. They are vegan and have catered to this crowd. There are games scattered around and a kids play area. They also have a charity of the moth that is posted and trivia game nights. We stopped for lunch and were displeased as we really didn't fit their customer profile. We wanted to eat lunch and after the process of signing in, and the orientation of how the self serve process worked we ordered our food. That was at 1:00. We waited until 1:45 and still hadn't gotten the food. I told them to pack it all to go and we had to leave immediately. They were polite about packing it abd gave us a discount for being there for over an hour without being served. But it woukd have nucer to eat there rather in our car. They want the customers to sit and drink. If you have all afternoon and friends to hang out with it would be ok. read more

I love that you can keep track of how much you are spending! They have lots of beer choices, wine, and cocktails. My favorite was the Mr. Trash wheel beer. Just give them a credit card, and they give u a drink card. At the end we just dropped our drink cards into the 20% tip jar and left. Friendly staff. This place is so cool! They have a beer wall with all sorts of beers and drinks. The way it works is that you get a card that you put up to the beer you want and you can have a whole glass or just a taste. They charged by the oz, this is a great way to try different beers and drinks without having to buy and entire glass of it. This place has tons of games and they have food which looked super good. They cater to vegans and vegetarians which is always a plus. Love the atmosphere and the vibes, great place to meet up with friends and have a good time. Definitely recommend! read more

This place is great! It is like the Chuck E. Cheese for adults. When you arrive you are given a drinking card that you scan at each tap that tracks your pours. There are 25 local brews on tap along with about 10 wines. The brisket sliders were delicious and the atmosphere there was great as there was some live music. Don't go for food. When we came in at lunchtime on a Saturday, there were 5 tables occupied, and the blackboard at the food ordering counter said wait time was 20 minutes. Forty-five minutes later, we hadn't gotten any food, but someone came out and changed the blackboard twice, to say 30 minutes, then 35 minutes wait time. The longer you wait for food, the more you spend on beer. If you like spending $30-50 on beer with an empty stomach, you do you. There were 3 employees walking back and forth, doing nothing for 45 minutes, since you serve yourself the drinks, and bus your own table. Nice location, though. read more

This place was very welcoming. We went in on a pretty slow afternoon, the person at the front desk walked us through the concept and was very helpful. There was an excellent selection of beers, cocktails, and other items on tap. I especially liked that they charge you per ounce and you pour your own from the tap. This allows you to get a small taste for a small amount of money, unlike when you might get a flight of beers and waste money on ones that you ultimately do not like. I especially liked the Southern Tier beer that they had on tap, and enjoyed being able to sample some local beers from the Frederick area. The food was also delicious. We got nachos, the yum yum wrap, and a flatbread and all of them were great. They also had a play area for kids, nice outdoor seating, and board games available. Over-all it was the perfect low-key place for us to spend the afternoon with my parents and one-year-old son. Good beer selection, good food, very helpful staff. read more

You can taste different kinds without having to commit to one, or to help you find the perfect one to pair to the wonderful and fresh food they serve. We went there for Trivia night on Monday. It's easy to find parking in downtown (and it's free after 6pm!) and after that it's just a short walk to their location. They also have an outdoor seating option. Finally decided to give this place a try. Found that it is cheerfully situated beside the creek downtown Frederick. It is a new experience, and quite the confusing one for the first-timer. When you walk in you immediately realize you don't know what to do. The counter with a register was vacant yet there was a line. After several minutes of waiting someone appeared from behind a curtain and when I asked about a menu was told I needed to go to the other counter to order food. I went to the indicated counter and it too was vacant. The employees spend most of their time behind the curtain I guess. I dutifully rang the little bell and an employee appeared. He took our order of vegan nachos (to share), phone number, and said they would text me when my food was ready for pickup. I'm not a fan of the process at all. It was 7:01pm. We found a table in the mayhem of loud music and children shrieking. After five minutes it looked like their might be a table open outside so we moved seeking some reasonable quiet. The speakers outside were just as energetic but it seemed better. We people-watched, chatted, and waited. At 7:30 I went in to see about our order. I had to ring the bell again because there simple weren't any employees monitoring their customer economy. The answer given was "a few more minutes". I went back to my table annoyed that an order as simple as nachos had already gone half an hour. After several minutes I got a text saying our order was ready. I am giving this place two stars because the nachos were tasty. Aside from that, the set-up, business process, lack of guidance or direction, lack of employee visibility, all made me feel like it was a hands-off operation. The customers are even asked to bus their own tables per the signs. That in itself is not a problem, but combined with the other negatives I wondered how they got any business at all. The answer is likely the self-serve beer taps. If you're looking for a nice place for dinner this isn't it. If you're looking for a place to get lost in the noise and crowd and don't want to be bothered with waiters, waitresses, and employees ready to help, this is the place. read more

Sometimes there is live music, and there are cocktail options as well at the full bar. It is self-serve for draft beer, wine and cider using the card system so you can pour as much or little as you want. This way you can create your own tasting, or be one and done. The extensive selection of beer (local, rare and classics like Bud, Miller, etc) is really well curated. Great spot for a drink if you are waiting for a dinner reservation in Frederick, or if you just want to grab something after a long walk/jog in the neighborhood. I came to Frederick Social with my family to enjoy my afternoon and grab a drink but was not able to due to their policy on IDs. Do not come here if you have a vertical ID, they will not accept it. The only reason I can think of not to accept my Id (which is perfectly valid and does not expire until 2027) is out of concerns that it is fake, which I do not appreciate being accused of, especially since I am visiting with me entire family and young nieces and nephews. I am well over the drinking age, and was looking forward to enjoy a beer with my sisters during the holidays, and instead I left disappointed and frankly insulted (hence the 1 star review). I understand that it is a company policy and that other business do this as well, but that does not change the fact that I had a bad experience because of it and want to leave a review to let others in a similar situation know they should not come here. Given the choice between paying for a new ID when mine is perfectly valid or taking my business elsewhere, the choice is clear. read more

Beer was good. Execution was poor in terms of food and being toddler friendly. The play area is a small spot in the corner of the building with like 10 toys. Also there is not actual adult seating in the todler corner. Adults are expected to sit at tables where you can barely keep an eye on your kids. There were really only 3 tables that have a good sight of the toddler corner but if those are taken, you are SOL. I can't imagine what this would be like on a busy day like a weekend. We did go on President's Day, shortly after the place had opened but it was not super busy. The beer is obviously self service so that was great but when it came to food, the wait was somehow 45 minutes minimum. We ordered a flatbread pizza, pretzel bites, a kids meal with beyond meat chicken tenders and a fruit cup, string cheese, and pirates booty for the kids. The only food my toddlers ate for 45 minutes were the pirates booty and some apple juice (and that was because I asked for those items ahead of time). The food quality itself was very meh. Still don't understand how it took 45 minutes to heat up pretzel bites and a flatbread and chicken tenders. It wasn't even packed when we arrived. The table next to us said they were waiting 45 minutes and then the kitchen told them one of the items they ordered was not in stock so then they ordered another item which took 30 minutes to arrive. Come here for drinks with extremely patient kids or without kids altogether and bring your own food. That's my advice. read more

Like many others, I do enjoy this place. The main thing that I think needs improvement is the food menu. First of all, it's confusing. Some descriptions leave you wondering what you would actually be getting. The item I thought was a main dish (because that's where it was listed) was actually a "small bite". Stay away from the $25 cheese board- it's a joke. As for the beer, the first time I came here I found one I really liked, and drank that the whole time. The next two times I came here (I've been here 3 times), I tried 4 different beers and didn't like any of them. So I gave up for the day. The last time I was here, I unfortunately paid for beer I didn't drink. I went to put my card in the slot and one of the beers (not the one I was going to get) started pouring out of the tap, because no one closed it. I didn't realize what was happening until I saw the screen and saw my total spent climbing before my eyes! I didn't say anything to the employees, because it wasn't the establishment's fault they have crappy customers. But I do think that anyone who does this should be asked to leave for the remainder of the day (if it wasn't intentional, then they were too drunk to remain there--who would take their card away before they stopped pouring? Makes no sense). I'll be back, but I really wish I could think of this place as a food destination as well. I enjoyed my food but it wasn't worthy of a meal (I had to go back up to the counter and order more food!). It seems to just be snacks (regardless of what the menu says). read more

The service was good. This was my first time donning in. The host did a phenomenal job giving me the methods of ordering and sampling the drinks before my purchase. He also encouraged me to take my time and view the menu. I must admit, that the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was fun. However; The food was sub par. It seemed like the chef rushed the meal, and gave no effort in making the dish. Beyond the flavor missing, the crab cake was filled with artichoke and no crab. I attempted to put some lemon on the crab cakes to bring out the zest, but it still didn't effect the taste in a positive way. The Brussel sprouts were ok, and the sauce on the side helped. Frederick Social is a much needed addition to downtown! It's convenient location, expansive space, and thoughtful arrangement makes it just what's its name says---a place to be social. I met with several other moms and because of the owners planning we were able to enjoy French press coffees, fresh brewed teas and more while our kids played close by on the collection of provided, clean toys. Service is done at a counter and you bus for yourself which I LOVED because we didn't feel rushed or pressured in any way. I had the breakfast tacos that came with fresh fruit. The chipotle aioli was smoky, spicy and perfect. I didn't even mention the entire wall of beverage options (probably because it was 9:30am and I didn't partake but I'll be back!)
