Stop in just for the Halibut! Our first time here, very nice! Freddy's is a cute seaside decorated building inside and out. Makes you feel like you're at the ocean! We tried their Halibut dinner, hot juicy deep-fried Halibut in a lite crisp coating, crisp fries, cold creamy coleslaw, and plenty of lemon and tartar sauce. The menu has many seafood choices most available as an A la Carte to a family sized meal. Pasta/Fettuccini, chicken strips, sandwiches, burgers, steak...dessert... the menu keeps on going! I tried their clam chowder, hot lightly seasoned (thinner) creamy soup filled with potatoes and clams. I loved it! You can get the chowder in a cup, bowl, or bread bowl! Perfect for a cold rainy day! I had to ask about dessert, yes, they do! I enjoyed a nice slice of Lemon Bar, yum! The waitress heard us talking about the possibility of bringing friends here on our next trip to the beach. $41.75 for lunch. The four pan fried oysters were greasy and two were burnt and the halibut was 1-1/2" x 4". I expected more for the price. The iced tea was four dollars which contributed to the total more than it should have. French fries were average and soggy and the bowl of mixed vegetables obviously came right out of a frozen bag and were rubbery. The halibut was good so I agree with the name of the restaurant. Updated review 3/9/2020. I don't return. I use to love it however since the new owner prices have increased however quality has gone down. Even after my last review I decided to give it another go. Ordered the crab Brie mac n cheese & cod. The Mac n cheese has no flavor At all. It does have a lot of crab but that was the only good thing about it. Ordered to go and it came with no bread or anything. The cod was okay, their coleslaw was horrible. Their recipe use to be good but no one. Wasted $36. We ordered ahead for the pickup window on our way through town. They said it would be ready in a half hour, which it was. But a half hour for 3 orders of fried food? We got two small cod and chips and a halibut and chips. It didn't seem particularly fresh, and the fries were soggy. I love coleslaw, but didn't want to eat theirs, and I was hungry. I had the grilled halibut sandwich and it lacked any seasoning the bun was not sufficient for the sandwich which kept falling apart when eating it. My dining partner had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and seemed to like it. read more

Recently this restaurant was sold and it is definitely not the same. We have enjoyed this place for several years and the food was excellent. Last night changed that. The menu is now very limited and the prices are much higher. The selection of seafood is not what it was. The halibut fisn n chips were good however and we enjoyed them. Overpriced. Boxed and Frozen. clam cowder was 7 dollars for a cup, it was watery and had the look of a canned soup It was terrible. The fried seafood was obviously frozen, other than the halibut which was mediocre at best for being their specialty. the tartar sauce was mayo with some weird black stuff in it. Excellent clam chowder! The cup is actually a bowl with plenty of tender clams. Great service with attentive servers. Next I had the seafood dinner with fish, prawns, clams, and fried oysters. Freddy's was a very pleasant surprise. Nothing fancy-- It is decorated with all sorts of sea-going memorabilia and feels like a bistro at the beach. The choices were good. And the food was plentiful, really tasty and reasonably priced. I got a grilled sourdough, crab meat and cheese concoction that was delicious, with tons of crab for not a ton of money. I can tell you that the hospitality by the owner is so amazing!! Mike was so happy to accommodate any request. The complaints of high prices are ridiculous. Fresh seafood is not cheap so if you want old badly prepared seafood go somewhere else! I really loved the clam chowder, fried halibut, and steamed clams. Not everything I ate was my up of tea, but it was fresh. My husband really liked the smoked salmon dip. For me to much mix and not enough salmon. For my husband the clams had to much butter. Tried this place for our family date night. We have lived up this way a few years now and it's about time we start exploring the food establishments. We had a great time because we were together not because of the food. Customer service was great. The waitress never brought our waters but oh well. The food was average nothing spectacular. So the bill at the end of the night was shocking! Too expensive for the quality of food. When it was time to pay the bill they brought the machine to the table and it had preselected tips; 18, 22, and 24%. Wow! They think highly of themselves. After a long morning and afternoon house hunting with a realtor my Mom and I were very hungry and started heading for a usual haunt when we spied Freddy's. I pulled out the Droid and checked my handy Yelp App to find great reviews so we turned around and went back. The place looks a little cliche from the outside but it's not over the top and once inside the set up is clean with plenty of tables. A friendly server allowed us to pick the table of our choice which was nice because I have a knee scooter and need to keep my leg up so I could find the perfect seat. We spied the menu but knew that we were trying the fish and chips and sharing a bowl of clam chowder. The server was so nice, noticing my wound dressing she asked if I had dietary restrictions and offered to make sure my food was prepared so I could eat it. I had none but I was damned impressed she thought to offer. Drinks arrived quickly and the food was up impressively fast. We both went for the Cod Fish & Chips, mine medium and Mom's was small. Glad I didn't get the large, that would have been a lot even for me. Golden brown fish along side golden brown fries with lots of tartar sauce and some very tasty cole slaw. The fish was not greasy, the coating was seasoned and not too heavy. The fries were crispy with perfect creamy insides. There is a lot to look at while you eat and the server came back a few times to see how we were. I was very very impressed with Freddy's. If Mom buys a house up here this will become a favorite of mine long with Stuffys II. read more

Came here for a dinner in a group of four. I was looking for a highly-rated, nearby, relatively cheap restaurant. So I chose this one. The restaurant is easy to miss. It has a small door, and a not particularly noticeable sign . Now to the food. We opened with a clam and oyster chowder. The oyster chowder came with a ton of oysters. Well worth the money. I ordered a New York Steak and seafood combo for just over $20. It comes with the steak, an option of oysters, halibut, and 2 others. Also, I could get the GF (Gluten free) option for my oysters. (wow!) It also came with a salad with a vinegar of your choice, an option of baked potato or fries, and toast. The steak was not particularly good. However, this is a seafood restaurant, so I'm not bothered. The oysters were delicious. Not too oily, (comes with four) and tastes good. The salad was extremely fresh, and the dressing that the waitress recommended to me was good. Next, the service. It was excellent. The employees fulfilled every request that we made (extra plates, utensils, etc.). They even offered us a take out menu, but since we were tourists, we would never be able to return. The bathrooms were clean, well maintained, and smelled fine. The restaurant wasn't too cold or warm. It was also well decorated, which made the experience that much better. In a holistic approach, this restaurant was excellent. The service, food, and cleanliness were exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant to any tourist or local who is looking for a great seafood restaurant. I am proud to rate 5 stars. read more

We hadn't been in here for a long, LONG time. No particular reason we just seemed to forget it was here. We went in on Friday evening and service was quick, and friendly. We both had the clam chowder and halibut fish and chips. Now, I've traveled here and there in my day. Whenever I had fish and chips I've compared them to another local fish and chip place that used to be in business in Longview. (And yea, yea they still have a location in Kelso but i've never been there). All that being said, I personally rate Freddy's equal to the other place. And from what I've heard, price-wise a bit cheaper. So, the next time Debbie has a halibut fish and chips craving we'll be heading here. read more

They were totally different than what we used to get and flavorless. If you are an oyster person, you know what I mean! They messed up on the order and forgot the salad, and the asparagus was drenched in oil. Couldn't finish the dinner. Hubbys steak was under cooked. Probably should stick to fish and chips, but probably won't go back, the server was not in a good mood and argued with me about the order mixup.
