Still the best grocery store in Monroe, and it's a decent one. It's large enough to carry a broad assortment and to have depth for better sellers. This store has a challenging position to deal with. Monroe is an odd blend of country and suburb, with a faint dash of urban here and there. This store manages to provide a good balance for those audiences without taking too much financial advantage of the community. The store is clean and well-maintained. It's relatively modern, having undergone a remodel several years ago. It added a Murray's Cheese counter, Kroger (Fred Meyer's parent company)'s cheesemonger counter with staff to help, and a selection of higher-end cheeses. This has done very well in this store and is slated for expansion. I'm all for it. The produce here is usually good to excellent. The meat is of excellent quality. Seafood is just okay and could use some improvement. Over all, Monroe is lucky to have a nice grocery store like this. It beats Safeway on selection and is about the same on pricing. It beats Walmart on both selection (though Walmart is starting to add interesting things here and there) and on produce quality (by a mile). Grocery Outlet is just that. Ignore the negative reviews (except maybe those from 2020). They make me shake my head at small-town pettiness taken to extremes. You got a bagger in training who messed up your bagging one time? Couldn't get all the fried hot food you wanted at the nanosecond you wanted it? Couldn't find a charged electric cart fast enough for your liking, even though the store sent someone to bring one to you? And for these kinds of things, you give a 1-star review and complain about pretty much one perceived offense? That's not cool. Fred Meyer used to be great and have a great hot food counter. For the past couple years i avoid the place because it's terrible. Service is terrible. Food availability is non-existent. Want jojos at 2pm on a Saturday? GLWT! I stopped in last Saturday, same deal. It was noon. Nothing but a small pile of chicken strips. I asked if i could get some fried potatoes (jojos) and they said "well this is all that's out right now". HOW ABOUT DO YOUR JOB AND DUCKING FRY SOME UP? WHAT, YOU DON'T LIKE MONEY? (I wanted to say this, but instead just left). Tried again today at 1pm. The pickings were VERY sparse at the "chicken" hot food counter. What a joke. Why is it FM in Everett and Snohomish have GREAT hot food selections, and this store consistently just sucks the butt? Management at this store must be a joke. Love the prices and selection of Fred Meyer chain. Like their online app, downloadable digital coupons, rewards, gas discounts, etc. Since its GlobalClimateChange strike day, i'm gonna lead with FM's excessive use of needless and single-use plastic. If you read their corporate propaganda, you might think they're making an effort. But just look around - this store is loaded with needlessly plastic-ensconced goods. 4 ears of corn on a styro-tray wrapped in plastic? Bags of onions/apples etc. Cauliflower wrapped in cello. One of the latest, 4 cans of "younameit" WRAPPED IN PLASTIC. WHY!!???? There are products the manufacturer offers in either plastic or cardboard, FM chooses plastic (example, Argo cornstarch). Laughably their 'Simple Truth' brand frequently uses even more plastic than, well, 'complicated truth' products. Go to the deli, TRY and buy anything without plastic!! You'd think theyd have a roll of butcher paper there, but no. At least you CAN go to the meat counter, and ask them to not use any plastic, wrap it 'old school' in paper, they oblige. FM's marketing schemes frequently trap me (namely, the 'buy 5 get $5 off and the ilk) even tho i'm an extremely careful shopper, its hard to keep track. I feel this is a direct attack on less careful shoppers. I'm sure FM is enjoying tidy profits from those that only get "4" of the 5 items, and wind up charging $4 extra. I keep shopping here due to proximity and their prices, avoiding plastics where i can by using reusable shopping and produce bags, selecting products in environmental friendly packaging. The remodel - well, been shopping here several times, and i hate it. The only plus was moving the organics into the 'regular' goods. Squished bread due to heavy jars on top, egg carton crumpled and eggs fell out due to bagger squishing bag to squish it into the cart, threw items into the bags.. cant even get out if the store before groceries are destroyed. We live 16 miles away so I called customer svc to let them know the condition our groceries were in. He kept talking the whole time, so I asked if he was listening. He said no, just a minute and finished another conversation he was having AFTER he told me to go ahead. Then he offered a refund on eggs. Not what I wanted...I wanted them to train or warn the bagger so all of you readers don't waste your money or time at Freddys in Monroe. It's sad for me to write this. We have been coming to this store since it opened, and for the longest time it has been our main go to store for groceries and other needs. However the lack of any kind of mask use enforcement is just unacceptable, it's been bad for a while and keeps going down hill. On out last visit about 1/2 the customers were not wearing masks. This is public health we are talking about not a long line at the check out, something far more important than that. It seems strange to me that back at the beginning of the pandemic FM could have someone at the door handing out masks and making sure everyone coming in is wearing one, but now no more. There aren't even paper masks at the entrances anymore. Here is the real clincher. I was recently in Walmart, and guess what people were wearing their masks in there. When I'm shopping stores over in Redmond, it is unusual to see someone in a store without a mask. Earlier I was in Bellevue, and guess what, that's right people were wearing their masks in the stores. People wear their masks in the local feed store in Monroe, but in Fred Meyer 50%. So that's it, I want to be in environments, and especially when shopping for food that takes public health seriously. As sad as it makes me to say this, but I'll take the line over at Walmart any day over a bunch of maskless people of unknown status breathing on me and my loved ones as we try to shop. And a higher number of people than that were wearing masks incorrectly (covering only mouth, not nose). A store employee told me the manager told them NOT to enforce the mask law. I don't think I can even give this store one star!!!! I was in there a couple of times, as we just moved into Monroe. I had great customer service until I had my service dog with papers and I went into the dressing room to try on something. The girl by the name of Sue who was not well groomed and had greasy hair told me I could not bring my dog into her dressing rm????? I continued to ask for the manager. Someone came to help me who I doubted was even manager and told me he would handle this. I left all my belongings there that I was going to purchase. So I didn't go there for a couple of months. I recently went back and again went to try some shoes and pants on???? Another girl was there, I told her of my experience, she was looking around as I was telling her, and refused to let me try on shoes with pants as I needed to know the length??? She denied me access to the dressing room and I looked behind me and there was SUE!!!!!!!! I dropped my things and went onto the food department. I talked to some real nice kid who was working and told him what happened and he apologized. He directed me to call for a manager. So I did and here came SUE AGAIN!!!!!!!!! She was laughing and, I said is there someone else I could speak to and she said. NOPE ONLY ME SWEETIE!!!!!!! I will never go into this scum of a place as long as I live. since this, I have traveled 25 miles to another Fred Meyers. As far as Fred Meyers go this is a good one. I'm a frequent Fred Meyer shopper and this place always has what I expect. They have a decent clothing selection, toys, and of course groceries. Their bathrooms are decently clean, the staff is polite. I also frequent the Starbucks which is inside, however they do run out of seasonal stuff often (Covid to blame?). Highly prefer this place over the Monroe Safeway, or wal mart. Clean, easy, big. read more

Fred Myers : The only reason I give one star is because I have to! You walk by a person counting people at the door as you come in to start grocery shopping. Then you spend over an hour getting your groceries together. Then they have cut down on check out persons. So now you wait in line. Get to the cashier and tell them you would like paper bags. She informs you that they have no paper bags and no plastic bags. If you want a bag you have to buy one for a dollar. This could be posted on the door, the kind lady at the door could have told us, but no. Sure. It's a descent large grocery store. Newly remodeled with good produce and a large beer/wine selection. As a local I was really disappointed that they didn't throw down a few extra bucks for a Murray's cheese counter (like there counterpart QFC) as well as an olive bar. I shop at FM in Monroe, Wa for the product selection. Since the 'remodel' and subsequent Kroger 'corporitization' of this property they now provide the worst customer experience of any grocery store I shop in. Lines at assisted checkout are lengthy (what we would've called normal checkout before self-check), and seemingly intentionally so. The new 'no bagger' bagging certainly isn't working at assisted check out...and the ridiculously long lines and slow service seem designed to force you to self check if at all possible. I went on Monday, December 27th to get a few groceries. Lots of empty shelves, given with the holiday and weather made sense. Went to checkout and there wasn't one open check stand out of 10-12....ONLY self check-out. If you're going to only have self check-out, designate lines. This world is already full of angry people, but then to have to be yelled at because I'm not standing in the right place to check-out my groceries. The Monroe Fred Meyer is the worst. The isles are packed, mostly because lines backed up at the few actual check stands that are open. They want to funnel you to the self check stands. Many times no baggers so they either expect you to bag yourself (if I wanted to do that I would have done self check) or wait for the checker to finish and then bag, further causing long lines. If they want us to use self check they should offer a discount. Lastly the personal shoppers are jamming the isles and have no consideration for those passing by. All Fred Meyers are bad this way but Monroe is the worst. read more

Moral of the story - FRED MEYER- no place to shop for JEWELRY. I recently purchased a new watch from eBay. I visited Fred Meyer Jewelers in Monroe,WA to have the band adjusted. I called ahead of time to ensure they could (would) do this type of work. After examining the watch, I was informed they could not adjust it. The manager asked "where'd you get this watch anyway?" I replied "eBay". She threw her hands up, let out a disgusting belch of air, and said, "what do you expect?! I'm sure it's a piece of junk!" I was floored! I bought this watch as a replacement for a lost Rolex as it is quiet similar and is highly rated. But frankly if I had paid $5 for it (as opposed to the $500 it was) I wouldn't expect that its cost should be of any importance to FM. Either they offer jewelry repair and adjustments or they do not. I did not come for a judgement of my character based on the amount of money I've chosen to spend on a watch. I resolved the issue by purchasing a small jeweler's screwdriver and removing the links myself. I recommend not doing business with Fred Meyer Jewelers because despite their claims to provide jewelry repair and adjustments, it seems they do not actually want to provide that for items they do not sell or value. I know I'll never go back for anything but especially jewelry. FM Manager - you are actually just incompetent. Taking out your incompetence on the costumer is a great way to run off business. If that's your business model, you deserve a promotion. FYI - I have over 20,000 readers on my most recent post across multiple review platforms. I will repost this on every one.
