Italian on the fly... Fratelli Express has been on my cravings list and when I was in the Waipahu area I just couldn't resist a visit. Not the easiest to find and it's not visible from the street at all if you're not familiar with the area but Yelp was very helpful to find your way and trust the process as they are a few doors in from the front. Walking in to this modest and cozy place indeed it's a basic and simple decor with a few tables, and drink cooler that doesn't scream Italian but seriously don't let it all fool you. With menu items for everyone to enjoy from all the usual Alfredo, Ravioli, and Chicken Parmigiana to the House Specials like Salmon Giardino to New York Steak and Scampi these are some genuinely freshly prepared items expressly made. Not easily found are any vegetarian dishes and they had five items list and decided with the "Linguine Portabella" and I am a true shrooms lover this is loaded with Portabella Mushrooms, onions, green beans, sun-dried tomatoes in a wine butter sauce. Yum super fresh and a generous portion I thoroughly enjoyed it all as the veggies still retain it's crispiness while the pasta cooked perfectly along with the light yet flavorful sauce. Great comforting dishes made fresh in a place hidden deep in Waipahu is not to be missed and am so happy I've found them. Grazie! read more

The people were nice. Location was convenient and portion size was decent. Got the carbonara and lasagna and mozzarella cheese sticks. The carbonara flavor was ok but was weird to have onions in the sauce. Their cheese sticks were pretty standard cheese sticks. Wish they would have put marinara sauce in it as a dipping sauce cause the sauce they included wasn't good. It was a strange sweet sauce. The lasagna was good. read more

Food was wonderful. Service was friendly and great, always. Everything we've tried has been delish.

Fiancée and I have been to Fratelli Express a number of times! I didn't realize I hadn't reviewed it yet. They have a variety of dishes and everything I've tried is good! Fiancée prefers the chicken pomodori and will always get that. The restaurant is tucked away in the old Cho Dang Waipahu location next to Nanding's. We usually call the order in and pick it up since we're coming from Mililani. Everyone I've interacted with has been very kind and we've always experienced great service here. I've been slowly introducing the place to family and friends (who all love the food) and I look forward to trying new dishes from this establishment! read more

Nice couple running this place. Small dinning room with a counter to place your order. I got the Sausage and Meatballs and my wife selected the Shrimp Carbonara. The sausage tasted like a good base, tomato sauce but needed more. Meatballs firm but not soild. Lots of flavor but with the sauce it just wasn't there. Now for the sausage. I was not expecting much but sending out a bratwurst or bockwurts totally clashed in the tomato sauce. The Carbornaea was OK. Lots of creamy sauce, shrimp and ham. Sauce was more of an Alfredo than carbonate. Hard to fund as they are in a old strip mall just off if main drag read more

This place never disappoints. I tried the lasagna recommended by others commenting. Yup. Big and delicious . The pasta is huge. You better be hungry . You won't step into BRAVOS after eating here. We haven't. This place is out of my way but if I'm in the area, always do take out for dinner. This place was recommended by a neighbor who is picky. ..and I'm picky . The lady working there I think is the wife is always friendly. Super nice. read more

Tried this place on a whim after seeing it often when I crave Italian food on Uber Eats and lemme tell you this place didn't disappoint. While I was a tad dismayed at the prices on first glance I saw a ton of food in every dish so figured yolo and order something unique. I got the fried ravioli and the cheese sticks as I haven't had either one in years and figured it was a good benchmark. When the food came I was pleasantly surprised the pictures from a few months ago matched the amount in the boxes and was super stuffed in both cases. I was super intrigued by the sauce as I have never seen an orange ish sauce be so thin before. Originally I thought this was Italian dressing with vinegar but now I can't say for certain but this really elevated what could've been a plainer thing had it been marinara instead. Flavor was super clean yet seasoned well in both cases with both offerings offering the amount of airy crisp I love and hardly see in places like this. I really want to try the rest of their offerings if this is the benchmark for what this place is gonna be. Also, if you order on DoorDash or Uber eats, it's free delivery so you can't really complain. Definitely gonna add this place to the rotation. I'm gonna try to visit this place in person very soon. Thank you so much. read more

I went there in the early afternoon and fortunately I missed the crowd. I just wanted some familiar comfort food so I ordered the linguini with meat sauce. The food came quickly which was great because I was pretty hungry. Lots of sauce on a bed of linguine really hit the spot - I could see the soffritto in the sauce. It was very delicious but it was so much that I saved the rest for dinner. The place was pretty clean and the music was a relaxing jazz of Eric Blues. It was pretty perfect and I complimented the chef about that. Will definitely return when I need to taste really good Italian food. Parking was easy. read more

We got the fried mozzarella, linguine portabella, and chicken Alfredo -- all super ʻono! The fried mozzarella especially came out hot and crispy, perfect starter before the pastas. There's plenty of parking since it's in the same shopping center as Nanding's Bakery. They've got indoor seating with about five tables, and some are good for larger groups if you're eating with the whole ʻohana. Bonus -- it's BYOB if you wanna dine in and make it a little more festive. Service for take-out was fast and food came out super hot! Definitely a solid spot for a cozy, casual Italian meal in Waipahu. read more

Don't skip out on this hidden gem! Took a chance and tried somewhere new. Service - Amazing! Locally owned. The owner (I assumed) was personable and kind. Carried on a conversation while we ate and he was able to tell us about the restaurant and how the dishes were developed. The meal was definitely something g to come back for. You can tell it was authentic and handmade. Even the salad dressing g was made in house was DELICIOUS! We will definitely come back here over Olive Garden or anywhere like that. read more

Glad Fratelli's opened up in Waipahu! We really needed a quality Italian food eatery here. Customer service is spot on. Always greeted when we walk in and the owners are so friendly. The interior isn't fancy, but is clean and serves its purpose. The food is really delicious, especially the lasagne. My wife always gets the Chicken Fratelli. My kids love the meatball spaghetti and fried ravioli. I recommend getting the salad dressing to take home. It's homemade and you can use it on anything not just salad. The New York steak and scampi was the dish that brought me in here. It was broke da mouth and made me a regular customer haha! Another one of my fav is the clams linguine! Everything so far is 2 thumbs up. Can't wait to try the other dishes on the menu! One last thing, the iced Vietnamese coffee is recommended if you need a quick pick up! read more

This was my first time trying Fratelli EXPRESS in Waipahu, and everything was tasty and delicious. I ordered the lasagna and chicken saltimbocca, and neither disappointed. The portions were large, the prices were reasonable, and the flavors were excellent. In fact, this was one of the best lasagnas I've ever had--better than some other restaurants I've tried. I definitely recommend checking them out and trying more items from their menu. read more

Since JP Spaghetti closed its doors, we have been looking for another italian restaurant to go to. A friend of ours recommended this place. Fratelli Express is located in Waipahu, next door to Nanding's Bakery. I ordered the Lasagna and wifey got the New York Steak with mushroom, onion, butter, and red wine. We also got a side order of their fried ravioli. The flavor is very good and their portions are huge . I would recommend this place too! Yessah!! read more

Had dinner here with a bunch of yelp peeps. Our Auntie Nadine said let's go and try this place she found in Waipahu. So we decided to go. I had their chicken salitmbocca never had it it with chicken I always ordered with veal. Had mushrooms, spinach, and 2 big chicken breast's wrap with thin ham in wine garlic sauce. It was good. Alot. The others had ravioli, lasagna, and seafood medley with red sauce. We had order of garlic bread and also fried ravioli made with spinach. The owner/partner of the business apologize for not having enough spring rolls but was nice to give us some anyway cut into small pieces enough for us to taste . He said so much take outs that when we wanted some would have taken along time to prepare them. Support them if you're in the wapahu area. read more

Food was bland. No taste. I could have gone to Walmart and got a box of pasta for $1.20, chopped garlic, open a can of minced clams and place it ontop of the pasta for under $5.00. Food was alot, but didn't eat 1/8th of it, the pasta didn't have taste too. read more

I ordered lasagna because it's one of my favorite way back home. And, I checked here and it felt me thrilled to saw the pictures and read reviews. So, one day I was craving lasagna and I came here. I loved the way it was made because got plenty sauce around. I was unhappy because the lasagna was too mushy and lil bit weird for the taste. Maybe I am comparing the old way back home taste of lasagna we had. I'm going to try their other menus and hopefully it'll be going to have a good one next time. The service for to go was good and fast. The place was neat, tidy and pleasant to hang out! read more

Was craving Italian in Waipahu and this new place popped up on Yelp. Was initially turned-off by the high prices but thought to give it a try due to the stunning reviews. Enjoyed the Lasagna, Chicken Alfredo, and ChickenBasilio. Place is known for large portions... enough to be eaten again for another meal. Location is former korean eatery, left of Nandings Bakery. Parking can be tough during the day - lots of surrounding businesses. To take advantage of this, I would suggest lunch specials - more affordable, single-serve complete-meal options. I love that there are more options in Waipahu... welcome to the neighborhood! read more

I was thrown off by Asians running an Italian food spot in Waipahu from a cultural standpoint being raised on the East Coast. However, the lasagna and alfredo combo with garlic bread was excellent. Reasonable price and portion for $27 dollars that feed 2 where the plate was $20 and $7 for the garlic bread. Lasagna is my favorite food and they made it too perfection. Noodle was soft, sauce/gravy perfect marinara favor, with ricotta, and mozzarella cheese baked perfect. Phone order and the service was great because we were in and out. The place was packed, looked cozy inside, and the food smelled great. Please go support to ensure we can keep them open. Amazing Italian food in Waipahu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Order the NY steak and shrimp plate and the chicken Parmesan sandwich. Quality and price is not worth it in my opinion but go try it yourself and see. It's a new place so wanted to try it out but now I'm hesitant to try again when they are more established. Chicken Parmesan's sandwich with no Parmesan?! Tasted like barely breaded sliced rotisserie chicken covered in watered down marinara and mozzarella cheese. Husband took one bite and threw it out. NY steak and shrimp plate was not great either. Watered down wine sauce. No flavor just in general bland. read more

Fratelli Express - Chicken Parmesan without the Parmesan. Not worth the $$. - Italian Near Me - Waipahu, Hawaii

I had to try Fratelli Express after viewing Misty's (Food Fiend) review on YouTube. In the words of George Takei, "Oh my! Oh my my my!" Family, you must try this place if you've been pining for Paesano's Manoa. And yes, I know there's a Paesano's near me in Waimalu... But I digress. I had to try the "Misty Special": 1/2 serving (a normal piece) of lasagna with ground beef and plenty of cheese with a tangy, sweet-enough marinara. Combo'd with the chicken basilio - a tender chicken cutlet smothered with garlic, basil and capers over linguine. Mua! So good! My wife had the shrimp scampi with linguine - also excellent with enough garlic to keep the Count away. We shared a house salad with Fratelli's secret dressing - so good, I've heard people have requested a bottle of it. We also had to have a couple of spring rolls under advisement from fellow Yelpers. In a word, huge! If you want to dine in, the place is spic and span and there are probably enough seats for a small to medium sized party. No alcohol served here and I should've asked if BYOB is okay. Sorry. Service is super friendly and the young lady there opened the door for me as I left. I'm loving this place and will definitely be back! Oh, and for kupuna like me, IT'S A BARGAIN! Enough for lunch tomorrow. read more

Had this restaurant recommended to me on yelp and After reading several positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try with my family. We decided to do takeout, and the staff were friendly and welcoming when I arrived. Upon receiving our order, everything looked good. We ordered the Chicken Alfredo and Shrimp Alfredo pastas, which were decent but lacked depth of flavor, mostly tasted cheese without much seasoning. The lasagna was a bit mushy and watery. We were hoping for a more baked texture for better consistency. The most disappointing dish was the Meatball Linguine. The sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce, and the meatballs, though generously sized, lacked seasoning and flavor. We were genuinely excited to find a pasta spot in the neighborhood, especially given the strong reviews and appealing photos. However, the overall experience didn't quite meet our expectations. While the service was pleasant, the food fell a bit short compared to other places we've tried on the island. read more

First time here. If you don't mind a diner atmosphere, you'll love it. With 6 tables, plastic utensils, & takeout containers; most orders were take out. I had the linguine portable with chicken because I like a lot of vegetables. The flavor was wonderfully garlicky with a hint of lemon. My husband had the chicken piccata. He was it was fine but a bit boring. The service was good. She checked in on us, being the only diners who ate in. Overall, for the cost, this is a tasty place for Italian food in an easy going atmosphere. read more

Fratelli Express - Italian Near Me - Waipahu, Hawaii

Fratelli Express in Waipahu Came on a Thursday afternoon around 1pm. We were expecting a long line but there was none. After we sat there was a steady stream of people ordering or picking up. I learned this place is owned by two brothers who worked at the recently closed Paesano in Manoa Marketplace. Note: the Paesano in Pearl City/Aiea is still open for business. This was our first time here. I'm so happy there is another and better option for Italian food on this side of town. Food first, logistics if you keep reading. Food: Misty Combo: This has their popular Lasagna and the Chicken Basilio. Never heard of this dish. This was tasty and quantity was good. Some parts of the Chicken Basilio was too salty but overall good. Meatball Linguine with Meat sauce. Paid an additional $1.50 for the meat sauce. Tasty. The meat was quite soft. Maybe they steam it? I think there might be pork in it so if you don't do pork ask first. I really wanted Chicken Piccata but it was not on the menu. So, my craving for Italian food was not satisfied but that's not to say what we had was not good. Talked with the owner after and he said they do make it but we would have to ask for it. There was no room to list it on the menu. He said there are other things not listed, too. I was kinda annoyed by this. I wish there was a note on the menu that said other popular dishes available but not listed, so please ask. Price: The prices are reasonable. It's what you would get for a plate lunch anywhere else. Will I be returning? Yes, to try the Chicken Piccata. It's a good place for a casual lunch with a friend. Location: This restaurant is the former Cho Dang Korean eatery in Waipahu, a door or two next to Nanding Bakery. Might be a little tricky to find but don't give up. Parking: Parking is busy during business hours but there's usually a spot or two open. What to expect: Small eatery. It's a take out place, and with tables. Think L&L. It's the same concept. You order at the counter to go or eat in. If you eat in they will bring it to your table. I thought that was a nice touch. All food, whether take out or eat in, comes in take out containers. Atmosphere: Casual. Chill. Service: The wait for the food was about 10 minutes. We were the only ones seated at the table but steady stream of people picking up take out orders. There was a small piece of what looked like paper in one of our dishes. Told the owner and he recovered by giving us a slice of cheesecake. I don't think it was home made. I wasn't going to add this to the review because I'm sure stuff happens in the best of restaurants, and who knows what really goes on in the kitchen anywhere you go. However, I wanted to be as transparent as I could. That mishap will not stop me from returning or recommending this place. Unless of course, it happens again. read more

Food quality was better than reviews describe. Portions are very fair and appropriate for dinner. I suggest ordering and picking up. It is Italian fusion so if you're from Italy or Massimo Bottura, have some realistic expectations. Not sure why you want to door dash and uber Italian food. Suggest you pick it up yourself and get it warm. Service was great fast and responsive. Inside dining area was simple and very much a mom & pop shop type of restaurant. Food and restaurant checks the box if you want Italian based food with good sized portions. Would return again. Thank you! read more
