Awesome meal tonight at Franks. We had the snapper, mussels and veal chop. This place never disappoints. My favorite restaurant in Marathon.

Dinner at Frank's was great. We called on a rainy Wednesday night at the last minute and were able to score a table even though they were booked until 8:30. They fit us in at the last table at 5:30 if we could get there quick. It was definitely worth it.The place is clean and the service was awesome. Our server was Joe and he did a great job. I like places where no one walks by your table without looking to see if you need anything. They all take care of all the tables so no one is waiting for "their server" to check on them. Based on the conversation at other tables, it was filled with regular customers and comments were that everything was great "as usual". That is always a good sign to start. Dinner was awesome. They bring out fresh bread with roasted garlic. We ordered veal parmesan and chicken parmesan with pasta as a side. You could choose potato or vegetable if pasta wasn't your thing. We had the dinner salad but you could also choose soup. The salad was fresh and cold, not warm like places where it sits out on a counter all day. The tomatoes were good and not like hot house hockey pucks you get at most places. Dinner was served piping hot, so you know it was made to order. Both our dinners were delicious and they were so big we didn't have room for dessert. This is a friendly, unpretentious restaurant with great food and service. Everything that came out to other tables looked great so I don't think you can go wrong here. For restaurants in Marathon, so far this is at the top of my list. What are you waiting for? I think the good is definitely the best part of Frank's. Immediately upon entering we were asked if we had a reservation, it was 5:30ish. We did not, the waitress seemed bothered by our presence. I had actually tired calling earlier and no one answered so I was annoyed this seemed like a big deal. We sat down, ordered and it was very loud- the kitchen is right near the dining room and you could hear all the chatter and food prep over your own dinner conversation. The food was good. I had the penne with tomatoes and garlic with chicken. My husband enjoyed the chicken marsala. I was unimpressed with the wait staff but the food was good. I'd suggest a reservation as they seem to like you more with one. read more

We did takeout but even then, we were able to tell that this place is top-notched. The food was amazingly delicious with big portions. The staff was friendly and quoted us an accurate time and remembered everything we needed. In the short time we waited, we saw that the staff ran the place pretty smoothly and the ambiance was intimate and warm. We had the linguini with white clam sauce, shrimp scampi, meat ravioli. So delicious we had to finished and boy, were we full and satisfied! Definitely recommend! read more

Great place to eat if Marathon. Very small place so be sure to make a reservation or you will be standing in the entrance or outside the door...not good if the weather is bad. The food is delicious and the atmosphere pleasant. Had the escargo for an appetizer; fairhad better. For dinner I had the Shrimp Scampi on angel hair pasta...it was great. Shrimp not overcooked. Will definitely keep on my short list of better places go eat in the Keys. read more

Solid Italian food and good, efficient service. We were looking for a light Italian dinner and found it here. The inside was packed (and very loud) and a little chilly. Fortunately, one of the outside tables was open and we were able to enjoy our meal in a quieter setting (even if it was basically in the parking lot). They brought out a small bowl of roasted garlic with the warm bread. The tomato sauce was flavorful and the portions ample. It was a lovely meal. read more

Just got back from my first visit to Franks. We went for my wife's 54th birthday! We are down here for vacation so not to familiar with local spots. I am originally from Brooklyn N.Y. and very critical about my Italian food. Well what can I say but "FUGGETABOUTIT" ! This slang means something is great! The food was delicious! The staff was very friendly and the service terrific. My waiter Joe was awesome and very accommodating. The place had a nice cozy feeling, it brought me back to my days in Bensonhurst. Here in the Keys on vacation. Promised my kids some Italian food. We found this place online and after a full day of snorkeling we were famished! Came to Frank's and were incredibly impressed. Got here at 5 right when they opened and sure enough they have been consistently busy. Everything was amazing from the soup to the pasta. Had the calamari and the snapper piccatta. The fish was the silkiest, most buttery fish ever. The calamari was light and tender. Hubs has zuppa de clams, so light and flavorful and the kids had spaghetti with meat sauce and cheese ravioli, both also excellent. It is in a random strip mall, but if you find yourself in Marathon, down in the Keys, make sure to head to Frank's! Not to missed! read more

So this place takes you by surprise- located in a small strip mall in Marathon. Food was amazing - Italian dishes and seafood with an Italian twist. This place will also cook and serve up your fresh catch. The wine and food top notch and service very attentive. We had a large group which was handled very nicely. Great environment! Clam sauce is so good. The ziti and tomato basil is tasty! Theresa is fabulous. Ask for theresa (with 7 letters)! We are in town from Colorado. Reservaitons recommended as seating is limited We saw more than one walk-in party turned away as they were booked on a Friday night. Veal Picatta was excellent and not over done with too much lemon. Fresh warm bread was served, but when asked twice for and additional serving they could not comply. They also told the table near us, bread was in the oven. No biggie as by the time we finished our ample entree(s) we were full, but needed dessert. Good Key LIme pie as well as a Chocolate dessert we forgot the name of. I had a family member graduating so we decided to go to franks, upon arriving the waitresses refused to seat saying everything was reserved. We said okay and decided to order take out but nobody wanted to take our order. Then joe arrived on scene, he offered us menus and water and sat us outside and provided excellent service despite our neglect to make reservations and the restaurant being busy. Joe paid excellent attention to detail our orders and fulfilled requests with passion. Despite the rough start we had a really great experience as local keys people we really enjoy Franks thanks to servers and staff like Joe! read more

Went to frank's grill on high praise from family and friends. What a mistake that was on top of wasting 24 bucks! As soon as I saw them throw the eggplant park in the microwave, I new things were going downhill from there. The clam sauce was not much better. I would give you a 1 out of 5 stars!! OMG the best Italian food I've ever had in Florida. Just like mama's... We had penne,huge shrimp, artichoke and capers in a garlic light tomato sauce. Exceptional!! Also enjoyed a delicious authentic tiramisu for desert.The owner/chef has been in this location for 10 years and has been a cook for over 20.He came out to greet us and ask how we liked our meals..Very down home atmosphere.. We ate here this evening as a group of 8. They were accommodating and offered exemplary service. The food was all tasty and the portions were more than generous. We had linguini with clams, penne with vodka sauce and veal parm. Everything, including the bread, was really good! We would recommend this restaurant to friends for sure. read more

Good, but not quite good enough two justify the two-day-advanced reservation it required to get in. If you want a real locals' place, this might be it. The room was filled with happy old people, who seemed like locals, including a party gathered for a birthday. Food was pretty good, but on the expensive side, especially considering that the portions were not large. One thing which surprised me was the fact that there actually is a Frank, who is actually alive and actually works in the kitchen! The whole place is very genuine. The waitresses are aging, and one of them seemed to speak more Italian than English. The decor is also quite pleasant. It seems like a nice place to celebrate an occasion. read more

Frank's Grill was recommended by friends we met up with in Duck Key, FL. It's a super casual place located in a small shopping plaza - very easy to find with your GPS. They said, "This place has GREAT Italian Food... there's one chef in the kitchen and he knows how to cook!" I agree that the food is fresh and homemade quality - definitely nothing out of a can! There were 7 of us and I had a chance to try a couple different dishes. The chicken and veal parms tasted SOOOO good! If you like fettuccine, Frank's has a rich sauce that will have you wanting more. Ok, now on to their dessert... Of course like any Key's establishment you can find Key Lime Pie... but the server could not stop talking about the Tiramisu so I had to get it! Eggplant parmigiana was very good and they were kind to swap out the pasta for broccoli. Hubby had the ziti with broccoli, garlic & oil, and chicken and it was very good. Dinner portions are HUGE. We should have ordered 1 item to share. Salads were fresh and bread was hot. The only disappointment was the key lime pie. It was a whipped and airy version vs the traditional. Would pass on that the next time. Ordered takeout and Joe was awesome. Will probably stop for lunch next time we are in town. read more

Great traditional Italian dishes. I had to try the veal parmesan after seeing one go by out of the kitchen. It just looked and smelled so good. I haven't ordered veal parm in 20-years mainly because I never trusted I would get authentic veal and not a veal patty. The meal was absolutely delicious and veal was awesome. Tried to eat here but after being rudely spoken to by manager/owner when asked if they had seating we will never be back. We come to the area annually for several weeks to vacation and enjoy finding places we recommend to our family and friends but this is not one of them.
