Good place to visit early in the morning for breakfast. Can't go wrong with a down home breakfast with the family. I like this location over most because its very spacious and looks a lot cleaner. When you walk in, you are greeted with a friendly "hello". You have the option of seating yourself at the bar, booths or tables. Everyone there is so friendly. If you sit at the bar, they don't mind holding a quick conversation with you. They treat everyone like a "regular". The food is made to order. Everything comes out hot and fresh, except for those damn biscuits!! It seems as tho they are made ahead of time and placed in a warmer of some sort.-which is understandable...but they not warm at all. The wife and decided to try Frank's this morning, as we've been searching for a decent breakfast. Don't waste your time. We arrived to a full dining room, and were greeted by a hostess who took our name, for a booth request. We slide off to the side to allow others through. After waiting for the booth for about 25 minutes, we noticed that others who'd arrived after us were being seated, in booths! I was livid and asked the hostess as to why those who'd arrived after us were being seated. She'd stated "oh, I thought that y'all left". We were standing ten feet away the whole time. I'm not hard to miss at 6'2", and she never called our name. I never heard her call one name from the list, it appeared that she was just seating people at her discretion, favoring the local clientele, perhaps? This was just the beginning of a long ordeal. The service was sub par, and the food was just ok. Portions were large, but the food is nothing to brag about. The wife ordered the French toast and I asked for the chicken fried steak and eggs. The French toast came out ok. My eggs were over cooked, and the CFS was heavily breaded. More breading than meat. The gravy was from a box. The has Browns tasted of rancid cooking oil. We ran out of coffee and were not refilled for twenty minutes. The food arrives about 45 minutes after ordering. The waitress apologized for taking so long, as they were training someone. BS. We only had to wait 5 minutes on a busy Saturday morning which was great since we had two squirmy toddlers. My nearly 4 year old son is autistic and started having a rowdy meltdown when we tried to put him in the high chair and a staff member thoughtfully tried to give him a sausage patty and was very kind. The biscuits were burned on the bottom so I tore that part off but they were still over done on top. The middle was good, though. Wish that I could have had them cooked properly because they look divine in previous reviewers pics. My husband's chicken fried steak was ok. Crispy breading and good white gravy on the side but it seemed like it might have fallen off the Sysco truck (pre-made & they just tossed it in the deep fryer). The chocolate chip pancakes were a big hit with our kids and they actually put them in the batter rather than on top so that makes for much less mess for us. The bacon? Flawless. Seriously. I brought my daughter in with me this time for a late breakfast and the food was still good. I order from the lunch menu Grilled Chicken breast with mash potatoes and green beans. I highly recommend the green beans. The portions here are big enough to fill any persons appetite. Especially a pregnant woman's appetite. I love their biscuits always fluffy and tasty. I never sit at the tables or booths I like sitting at the bar stools to watch the cooks and to consistently confuse myself on what I have a taste for today. I'll be 'Frank' here (pun intended), I was a little nervous going in because of the look of the restaurant from the outside, but we went in bc of a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the French toast sandwich, which was AMAZING - definitely recommend the selection, and I also got a side of pancakes, that I requested Chocolate Chips to be added to (bc I have a pretty intense sweet tooth ). The pancakes were also very good! The person I went with had the chicken fried chicken and waffles, and he ate every bite, so I'm sure there's no complaint there! At first, our waitress was incredibly attentive, but as the place got busier, we didn't see her again. I knew that coming to Texas meant I would have to try the infamous southern dish of chicken fried steak. So when I heard that this restaurant served chicken fried steak, I decided to go. The restaurant was not busy when I went. You choose your seats and are attended by a server once your sit. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Onto the food, I of course ordered chicken fries steak. With the steak, I had a choice of two sides ( I choose Mac and cheese and potatoes -starch and carb overload:) My steak was very crispy and tender. The white gravy was also very good. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the potatoes tasted fine too. I have to say, the portions here are huge. I was only able to eat about a 1/4 of the steak and made a small dent into my potatoes and Mac and Cheese. Sad to say I cannot recommend this place sat all. Upon entering you are greeting with what smells like a sewage problem. Parking: It is medium size but the restaurant is in a shopping center so it can be difficult to find a parking spot depending on the time. Time and Day: Ate on a Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM and was only about 10% full. So it was a good time to come in. At this location, you seat yourself and someone will come by and take your order. Food: I ordered the Country Fried Steak with sunny side up eggs, bread, and fruits as my side ($10.23). It was nice for them to put the gravy in separate bowl for me so I can pour the right amount of gravy. The country fried steak was mediocre, wasn't blown away by it but it was good enough to satisfy me. Eggs were perfect and fruit tasted fresh. Overall, the food was decent and is comparable to the food at Denny's or IHOP. I had no complaints but was not blown away. Service: Since there were only a small group of people in the diner, our waitress easily took my order. However, I noticed the food took a little bit longer than expected. Considering that there were very few customers eating at the time, I would think the food would come out faster. But anyways, the waitress did do quick check-ups on me to see if I needed anything else after bringing me my food and my check. I don't know what has happened over the course of months but this is not the same as it used to be. I ordered a chicken fried steak breakfast with two eggs over easy, runny yolk and hash browns. Also, an omelette with grilled chicken and cheese. Eggs came scrambled, hash browns are burned and not even edible. Grilled chicken was dry. Not ordering here anymore. They used to be soooooooo good for a down home breakfast but now, I will reconsider burger king. Update: since the owner feels I should look at my food before I take it although I ordered online and the bag was DOUBLED AND TIED like they knew what was in it I will certainly go to burger King next time and at least get a meal worth 3.75 vs spending over 40.00 here!! Wow. We came here after Eid prayer. The service and food is incredible. We came on a busy Sunday morning. They seated 22 of us in a moments notice. 7 adults and the rest kids. Our hostess was very warm and our waiter, Luis, was incredible. In fact the whole staff was because they all helped each other out. The food came out fresh and hot. Big portions. Favorites were waffles, chicken wings, omelettes, and OMG THE CAJUN FRIES! They made sausage free country gravy that was delish. The biscuits were huge. Still not a fan of the hash browns. Pancakes were enormous as well. Sweet tea is authentic southern iced tea. It is really hard to go out in a large group as a bunch of Muslims, especially in this political climate. But this place treats you wonderfully, regardless of religion, sex, or race. Words cannot describe how welcome and inclusive they were. To them they were probably just being good staff but to my family and friends it meant a lot. To my teen kids as especially. I'm so lucky to have a place this close to home! I just moved to the Westheimer area and finding this gem is awesome! We just went there on a slow Tuesday around 11am and the restaurant isn't anywhere near full at all. Our server, Cathy or Kathy, is slow and inattentive. We watched her check on another guest in a booth in front of us multiple times. Some time after we ordered we watched two couples come in, eat, and leave before she even came back to tell us our food is on its way and she only did that because we stared her down after almost an hour of sitting there after placing our order. Our food came out barely warm and burnt and we ordered the simplest things off the menu, a basic taco and an omelette. We should've gotten up and left but our hunger got the best of us. Then they overcharge me for a side and when I politely asked the cashier why the price on my ticket was more than the price listed on the menu, I was given attitude. We ordered 2 french toast plates with 2 eggs and bacon, a plate of biscuits and gravy and got a kids hamburger for my son. OMG I don't know what the hell the person cooking the food was thinking or doing but he needs to go intern at Waffle House or something. The bacon was chewy (I don't remember ordering jerky) my scrambled eggs with cheese was literally scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese folded into it (not even melted) and paper thin french toast (uhm ever heard of Texas toast?). I couldn't believe we waited 30 minutes for that BS. Our bill was the icing on the cake though. Almost $40. Over $10 for each of our plates, the kids meal didn't come with a drink so his meal was about $7 and almost $3 each for sweet tea.
