This was too much for me to eat today ... 6 pieces of French toast (optional Belgium waffles), 2 eggs, 3 awesome pieces of bacon and hash browns.. a hungry mans meal for sure. Took my family in for dinner after overlooking the positive reviews. I had high hopes and was really disappointed. The server was a sweetheart and had a very good vibe. I took my family of 6 and me an my son ordered the breakfast burger. Terrible the bun was sour dough witch isn't specified on the menu bacon was like peanut brittle. Potato salad was sour tasting. My wife ordered the chicken and waffle she loved the waffle but the chicken was super chewy the breading just fell off. 2 out of 5 stars would have put one start but the server was awesome. 87 bucks spent on food and probably eat 20 of it. So in total $100 including tip to server and that will be the one and only time I go to this restaurant. read more

Last December, my boyfriend suggested we go to Frank's Diner for breakfast. I had the waffles and bacon and he had the French toast, hash browns and bacon. The meal was fantastic. High quality food and great service. The coffee is rich, hot and delicious. When we were getting ready to leave, my boyfriend realized he had misplaced his wallet and so he drove back to my house to retrieve it. The waitress was really wonderful and one of the cooks even offered to pay for our meal. I was embarrassed but so thankful that they were understanding. 30 minutes later, he was back with the money and we happily left knowing we would be returning soon. Brilliant! read more

Went in for a quick bite and was happy to find one the best cheeseburgers I have found outside of home. Hand-formed patty, cheddar cheese, thick bacon. So good. And undoubtedly the best milkshake I have ever had. Made of hard ice-cream, I had the strawberry, and it came out looking like the diner classic it is, icy glass, tons of whipped cream, a drizzle of strawberry sauce, and enough in mixing cup to fill the glass nearly twice more. The atmosphere was relaxed but the service was exceptional and very professional. Our cook, Leslie, was so friendly and engaging and suggested the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. I'm a chef and I've dined in fancy fine dining restaurants, but this is the food you want to eat everyday, and it was absolutely one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life. The best way to describe my first (and last) meal at this Frank's Diner location is as a plate of "we don't care". I arrived shortly before the lunch rush, was told to seat myself, and I chose a two-person booth. I ordered ham and eggs--eggs over easy and on top of the ham steak, and crispy hash browns. My order arrived in less than five minutes. The eggs, while nicely cooked but woefully underseasoned, were delivered on top of the hash browns. I think that the waiter realized the error as he placed the plate in front of me, and then uttered "that's okay, right?". I was surprised that he would even ask, and then I realized that he did not want to correct the error (maybe he doesn't get along with the cook, or maybe he didn't want to waste product), so I accepted the plate. The ham steak was barely warm and had not developed any crust from its scant time on the flat top. It tasted like salty pork, not that sweet and savory delight that can be coaxed out of even the most mediocre product with just a little skill, time, and caring. The "crispy" hash browns were simply burnt hash browns, left to cook in oil until they reached a shattering crispness. These hash browns were clearly on the flat top for more than five minutes, and I get the feeling that they were likely headed for the trash until I made the convenient mistake of requesting "crispy". For some reason, Frank's Diner has a shining reputation in the Spokane area. I have dined at the other location on several occasions, and while the food has never reached the levels worthy of the praise that others heap upon this establishment, it's was always decent. Maybe it's just a problem with the north location. That said, I doubt that I will ever return to either. read more

First let me start out by saying I usually do not review places. I supervise a restaurant so I am usually much more critical and it would take a lot to win me over but Frank's has done so twice in a row and I am amazingly impressed at the level of service, teamwork and hospitality displayed every time I dine here. Yesterday I stopped in because I was having my tires changed and it was going to take 2-2 1/2 hours so I needed to waste time and I was hungry. My mother and my son decided on here. Once we arrived we were told it would be a 10 minute wait and Alex apologized to us. I told him it was completely fine and we were more than happy to wait. About 15 minutes passed and Alex came again and apologized and said hopefully it would not be much longer and they would pay for one of our meals. I could see there were at least 5 tables completely done and paid but were just chatting. I told him again it was fine and we were in no rush and it was in no way needed to pay for our meals. In another 15 he came and sat us again apologizing. This wait was in no way his fault or anyone else's. Once we were greeted by our server Sharon she was so pleasant and she apologized again. I told her I had a long wait and I would rather have waited there. We ordered our drinks and then another server came a gave us a pumpkin waffle(one of my favs) and said it was on them for the wait. once we got our food another server came and checked on us to see how everything was. You can really tell this team cares about each other and their service. The whole team wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal and even though the wait was completely out of their hands they went way above and beyond even when I said it was fine they still strived to make it up to me. I watched the whole train as I ate and I knew it was not just my table that they all worked together so well for. The food was perfect as always. I was understanding because I work in the industry but even if I wasn't I would have walked out happy and this place understands customer service. I also once ate next to a booth where a child was screaming my entire meal. Again, out of their control but they gave me a gift certificate to use the next time I came in. They can see an issue completely out of their control and still find a way to make it up to the customer. This is by far the best breakfast and staff in town! read more

My husband had minestrone soup with salad choice on Sunday and later that afternoon became violently Ill. His food poisoning lasted all night. He is sure it wasn't the flu as symptoms were not typical of the flu. The soup was only Luke warm so therefore is suspect. Did anyone else experience this? read more

I Have been going to Frank's for breakfast for a long time. Today was not a good experience. I received my coffee and waited over 10 minutes to place my order. The waitress was sitting in a booth talking to a customer. When my order was finally taken there were no cooks to be seen. When a cook finally started making my Eggs Benedict it came out fast and sat waiting for the waitress. The hashbrowns were way overcooked. The eggs were cold and runny. The Hollandaise was also runny and had no taste. I received my check and the waitress went back and sat in a booth talking again. Other customers came in and didn't get service. The guy next to me at the counter kept checking his watch. Disappointing! I really liked Frank's until today! read more

One of my kids' all-time favorite places to go for their birthday lunch. The milkshakes are incredible and the ice cream sundaes have lots of sprinkles. We've been fans for years, but after our last 2 visits, can only give 3 stars. Our service was fine, but we've noticed the quality of the food has changed. The first time, we figured it was a fluke [different cook?] but the next time we went, we were again disappointed. It took longer than we expected to get, although we'd ordered basics - burgers and fries - and the food wasn't hot. The fries were the worst - they were lukewarm and soft, not like they'd just come out of the fryer. They weren't busy, so it should've been easy to get served hot food in a reasonable amount of time. We'll still try it again and hope to be able to bump up the star rating. read more

Okay. Let me start of by saying that we were seated quickly. I will give them that. I went to breakfast with two friends and all three of us ordered French toast. Fine. Waitress tells us " you don't get very much food with the French toast breakfast, would you like to add a little side of bacon to that?" Sure! Bacon is great. Who doesn't love it? She specifically called it a "little side." All three of us ordered our own. Well we get two small nothing special pieces of bacon each, exactly what we expected. Bill comes to our table and turns out the little side of bacon was over $5. Bitch, WHAT? Thanks for no forewarning that two pieces of tiny bacon which were considered a side would cost more than half of my giant plate of French toast.
