Food is diner quality for sure what we had I ordered a cheesesteak but got cheese sticks, not too bad reminded me of those diners in NJ. The French fries were fresh cut Idaho and tasted yum! Definitely a classic hole in the wall. First and most importantly I ordered a basket of the honey butter croissants! Which are extremely good! I also had the 10 oz ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly the way I asked! I had a loaded potato with it. And since I didn't want a salad the waitress allowed me to substitute for another side which I elected for onion rings. Everything tasted very good and fresh! Good prices on food! It wasn't too busy but it was late afternoon.. the waitress was extremely attentive and checked on us often.. the steak was really good and cooked perfectly! And ya'll the price was right! 10 oz ribeye with a huge salad and bread and another side for $18.... day what! Lol ... if I'm in the area again, I'll definitively go back.. and take home a go box! read more

Went here while in Franklin for the day. The place looked like a dive. We walked in and were told to sit wherever we wanted to. There were maybe 8 other patrons. Both the waitresses were very nice and we were promptly served. As we ate the place got packed and I'm thinking we took the favorite booth as we got side eye from almost every person who walked in, it was the biggest booth. My daughter and I ordered the " special " - Ribeye, salad and side of your choice ( I got onion rings she got Fries) $17, my husband ordered 1/4 lb BBQ burger with Fries. He also ordered the corn nuggets which were deep fried cream corn. They didn't skimp on the fries but I got 5 onion rings? Also the Fries and Onion rings tasted frozen ( like the ones you buy at Aldi). My husband's burger was really small but he said it tasted good but nothing impressive. Our steaks were cooked perfect but they were the skinniest Ribeyes I'd ever seen- brought back memories of the old Ponderosa Restaurant steaks. Heard a lot of pounding from the kitchen- not sure what was going on? Our table felt a bit sticky and the ladies room was gross! One of those places where you just look at the food! Anyway 3 stars because the waitresses were both friendly and attentive! We won't be back the prices were alot higher than others on here have said for what you get. Anytime me and my husband want a good local steakhouse to enjoy our over night, we come to Franklin Steakhouse. It so convenient, nearby the local hotel chains and right off I65. This is our go to place for a big ol' prime rib for a pretty reasonable price. Let me tell you this before you judge on the appearance of this diner. It does need a bit of touch up but the food makes up for it by far. Believe me no one was talking about the ambience or the look of the place when I was there. We got there around 6ish. It wasn't horribly packed but it was more than a few people. It didn't stop us from ordering from the bar for a to go order. Our ticket was a good price for 2 prime rib, a salad, baked potato with sour cream and shredded cheese, 2 orders of corn nuggets(which is a must have), and those yummy croissants with the honey butter(another favorite) for around $35. Once we got to our abode, we didn't waste no time getting to that tender, juicy prime rib. To tell you the truth it's not gonna be a mistake coming here to eat! read more

Stopped on a trip back to Nashville and tried the Franklin Steakhouse out. I have to say as far as looks, it's not very impressive, but the food didn't disappoint. I had the prime rib and my husband had the filet. The salad was really satisfying with some crunchy pieces and it came with cheese and bacon, the corn nuggets were awesome (but I have a weak spot for corn nuggets) and the steak and potato were both good. The only complaint I have is the knives sucked, I had a hard time cutting my steak with both mine and my husbands knife. Lastly, the pricing is FANTASTIC, my prime rib, potato and salad were just $13, a great meal for that price!! read more

This is a little dive, run by an Asian family in a rundown, former Huddle House beside the interstate. The decor and cleanliness leave a bit to be desired. But here's the good stuff: No. 1 - It is cheap. I'm talking a big honking slab of prime rib for $8.50, with a big salad a baked potato cheap. I'm talking two can eat a LOT for $20 cheap. No. 2- They have THE BEST fried mushrooms, potato soup, egg rolls, chili, and other goodies on the menu that are all made IN HOUSE, in a tiny, diner size kitchen. When I say the best, I'm not kidding. The portions are generous, the food is prepared fresh, the flavors are as good as anybody. No. 3- Honey Butter Crosaints with the salad- need I say more? Now the bad stuff- No. 1- It is not very clean. That can be really off-putting, I know, but they do a ton of business, so it's not surprising. I've never worried about getting sick from eating there, but it's got a bit of a funky vibe. If you work at this restaurant and you are reading this- clean it up guys, and use a clean rag with fresh water to wipe down the tables, ok? No. 2- They have a smoking section, which given the size of the place, really means that you can't escape it. When it's crowded, it can feel pretty smoggy. No. 3- The steaks aren't very good, very consistently. I mean, I know they serve big slabs of meat for eight bucks, so I'm not expecting dry aged, hand cut, prime beef. But they can be pretty tough. And if you order medium rare, be prepared for your steak to have a fighting chance of coming back to life. In all, I'd easily give this place 4 stars, if it were cleaner and there was no smoking. WIth a facelift to the decor, it would be worthy of a triple D Food Network feature. If you're in the neighborhood, give it a try. read more

This place is amazing....from the time you walk in you are greeted by an employee. They are quick to your table to get your drink order. Have ate here several times,and haven't had anything bad. I have had the ribeye,chicken tenders (which is so many you won't even finish half of them.), hamburgers,club sandwhiches,salads are excellent ,and the honey butter crossiants are to die for. You will definitely need to get you a order of those crossiants,big baked potatoes with good flavor,good tator tots. You should definitely check this place out if your in the area. We decided to give this place a try and all of us were completely surprised at how good everything was! From the looks of the outside one doesn't expect much. My son and mother both got the prime rib special and loved it. I got a cheeseburger and it was really good. The house salads are simple and perfect. Dressing are homemade and delicious. The croissants that come with your salad rival the ones you get at Rafferty's. So good!! The only thing I wish they would change is making the restaurant completely non-smoking. read more

Really i'd like to give this joint 3.5 stars but I don't have that option. That being said I was alittle hesitant about what I was getting myself into. This is one of those "you cant judge a book by the cover places". I was immediately greeted by one of the waitresses and given a seat in the non smoking section. The menu looked like it was printed off a home computer and had a couple of pictures of food in it....very similar to your local chinese menu. Unsure of what to order, I do what I usually do and go with the daily special. Which just happened to be an 8oz. Angus ribeye, salad, and side for $9. The salad was fresh and came with a roll that was really really good. Im not kidding the roll was delicious! The ribeye was cooked to perfection and the fries were standard. Someone had a baked potato that looked really good, so I would probably go with that next time. The only thing that threw me off during this experience was that I got a spoon with my iced tea. I've never had anybody give me a spoon with my unsweetened tea before....but hey when in Rome. All in all this place exceeded my expectations and i had a good meal that was easy on the wallet. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star..HORRIBLE!! I ordered medium cooked sirloin steak baked potato and salad. Got the salad and it wasn't more than lettuce and dressing oh and a croissant. My steak came out bleeding, thought I would vomit! Asked the server to get the cook to put it back on the grill. Came out a couple minutes later and cut into this SO CALLED meat..didn't even look like any steak I had ever seen. So tough you could barely cut into it. The service was really bad. The server came to see about us once. About three minutes after we got the drinks. Then she never came back until we were presented the check. I felt like I was hurried out the door. I got one drink with no refill. Sent two plates back for the wrong order! The place itself is really dirty. Duct tape on the walls and cheap press wood paneling is the decor. The only redeeming part of my visit was the food. I had the prime rib with baked potato. It was great. Tender and properly cooked to order. I would have ordered some croissants for the road if my server ever came back. They were flaky, buttery awesome! Easily the best value to get a good solid meal on the north side of Nashville. There's usually just one waitress so I allow for some slack in service, but the food makes up for it all. Tell me another place you can get prime rib for $10 that isn't a piece of steak flavored chewing gum. Went there today for lunch. Place is small. They have a smoking section which as a smoker I think is great, we brought our 2 year old though so we sat in the non smoking section. Service wasn't great but it was lunch time. I got the rib eye with salad and baked potato, he got the prime rib with same. Salad and potatoes were good. Steaks were ordered medium rare came out rare rare but I'd rather them undercook than overcook, my rib eye was great, his prime rib not so much. It was pretty cheap. I really love Franklin Steak House But the last couple of times that we ordered steaks it looked like they had downsized, they were over cooked, the baked potatoes seemed old as well as the crosaint. This was really not a good place to eat. My husband's steak was cooked to death and a cheap cut. His salad dressing was the bacon dressing and it was cold and fatty. The rolls that we read about were just ordinary. The place is kind of dirty and not a nice atmosphere even though it seems like it is a fun diner. This is a terrible place for food. Order a steak and shortly there is some serious pounding in the kitchen. Pounding cheap meat to try and make it edible. The "prime rib" was just awful!!! Did not have that terrific strip around the edge that is always super tender. Meat was very dark to boot. Didn't even look like prime rib. The salad lettuce was limp. I am on a roll lately with limp lettuce!!! For dessert, I ordered Peach Cobbler. They didn't have any, so I settled for the "chocolate pie". It was a tiny little round, frozen thingy in an aluminum pan with a graham cracker crust. Cost the business a quarter. Cost me $3.00. I went back a week later and tried the pulled pork plate. Don't go there!!! Dark, tough and completely dried out. I have had it with the Franklin "Steak" house. Incidentally, the waitress spoke very little English and she looked seriously pissed off. I have ate there on several occasions. The food is decent, but the restaurant is nasty! I noticed on all occasions my check was wrong. I had been overcharged. When I pointed it out to the "boss" she made up some lame excuse saying that I had ordered a full size salad vs. a side salad with my meal. She charged me $6 too much and refused to adjust my check. In retrospect I should have refused to pay but have decided instead to never return. If Americans would just start standing up for getting what they pay for, such crooks would go out of business. read more

We visited Franklin Steakhouse this evening. It was a horrible experience. The first table they tried to seat us at was dirty. I had to point it out. The next table still wasn't very clean. There was food on the seats. It's obvious the ketchup and A1 bottles are continuously refilled. They were very old and crusty. We didn't even want to touch them. The food was just okay. Nothing special. The service was absolutely horrible. My wife had to ask for a refill when the food finally came out. I sat for about 10 minutes waiting for someone to refill my Coke. Another server looked right at my empty glass and just kept on walking. Finally I had to get up and ask our server for a refill. In fact, the server never checked on us after the food was delivered. We never even got the check. We walked up to the register to pay and had to wait on the server to come up there with the check. During my visit, I witnessed several health violations. It makes me wonder what's behind the wall in the kitchen. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more
