We LOVE the brisket. Anything with brisket on it, brisket quesadillas, brisket tacos, brisket sandwich. Wish they sold it by the pound. Everything else is good, too. We especially like the caldo de pollo because it had nice big chunks of chicken and veggies that haven't been cooked to death. The broth is flavorful. It's good, healthy eating. And the taco salad -- julienne veggie heaven. The service is very good. One pet peeve -- they always try to seat everybody in the least desirable spot first, like right next to the kitchen or right by the bathroom, or on the patio if it's really cold. Just say "no" or even better, don't follow them when they head towards the patio. The drinks are your standard issue day-glo green margaritas. Not bad, but not top shelf either. Good news is that it's nearly always happy hour! You can't beat the food and drinks at the prices they charge. One of our favorite places to go that's close to home. read more

This little gem located in Sachse, TX is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the area. If you are looking for good old enchiladas or tacos, they are awesome! But, if you are looking for something unique like veggie nachos, they got that too. They have a quaint bar and patio area and the atmosphere is cozy. They are usually packed but worth the wait. This was my first time to eat at Frankie's. We had about a 30 minute wait, and decide to order a sangria. It was good but not one of the best that I have had. Once we were seated, the server was prompt in getting our drinks and queso. I ordered the chicken fajitas which had no flavor. My husband ordered the calamari tacos and my daughter ordered the shrimp tacos. I tasted both and they were delicious! If I go back I would definitely order those over the fajitas! It took me a minute to warm up to Frankie's. Only because it's always so dang packed and I hate waiting. What I learned is they're worth the wait. Exceptional staff that makes you feel like your family. A very warm and inviting local place where after just a few times they seem to know your name. Then there's the food. oh the food! So good. I have yet to experience anything that I haven't enjoyed. Very authentic Mexican food. Reminds me of my vacations to Central Mexico where food is second to none. So many local Mexican restaurants serve nothing but the same ole TexMex dishes; not the case at Frankie's. You of coarse can get the standard fajitas which are amazing, but if you're up to testing the waters they have a full menu of incredible dishes like Chili Relleno, Pork tamales and my favorite Pollo Gordo: Chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheese topped with chipotle sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and garlic toast. Incredible!!!! Give em a try. You won't regret it. Normally quite a wait at lunch and dinner but it moves fairly quick. read more

It's an awesome place. The staff is wonderful. The owner is a great guy. We drive 40 minutes from Dallas because we love it so much. We usually come in with the whole family (around 10 or 12 of us) They're always packed full. Somehow they always manage to get us seated right away or a 10 minute wait at most. The food is awesome. Definitely get the queso... It's addicting. Also, their salsa is HOT (beware!) Try the brisket! Brisket anything - tacos, nachos, enchiladas, quesadillas. It's full of flavor and has never disappointed! Everything is really decently priced as well. It's an all around fantastic place!! Must try! read more

Was glad to see Frankie's move into the building on Hwy 78 that we have affectionately known as a local Mexican food hot spot for years..... but our first visit today was a big disappointment. The food was extremely salty; so much so, I could only eat half of my meal and didn't enjoy that. I was hoping this location would not fall into the dreaded "chain" syndrome we see time and time again..... you know the one - the original restaurant has good and sometimes great food and the second, third, etc. just falls short. Unfortunately, this one follows that course. The location in Richardson, which I believe is the original location for Frankie's, has far superior food. It's the same menu, just different chefs. I did pass this info on to our waiter and I hope he passed it on to the cooks. The old adage still rings true.... "Less is More." read more

Great drinks and decent food. The queso is a nice change from the usual stuff at other Tex-Mex places, but other than that, I don't understand a lot of the hype that this place gets. Honestly I saw all the great reviews and decided this was a must try . I live in Woodbridge and close good Mexican food is hard to find . My expectations may have been a little high , however I was pleasantly surprised with what they had done on the inside , a little dark but overall very welcoming and cozy . The good , the service was quick and accommodating , the chips and salsa were excellent , the food came out quickly and appearance was good . The bad , I ordered the combo fajitas which should be a staple at any Mexican restaurant , the beef tasted like sausage and had a strange texture , almost like store bought package fajitas . The chicken was a little dry and very bland . My friend ordered Victors special , the beef enchilada was bland , the chicken enchilada was almost a pureed like substance , and the cheese enchilada was so so mainly because they charged $ 1.75 to sub queso sauce instead of chili topping !!!!! For the money , $ 27 bucks plus tip and two waters , I think I'll be making the extra 10 minute drive to Chuy's or Pappasito's . read more

Service was bad from the start. We ordered queso and placed the rest of our order. They forgot the queso and I had to remind them so it showed up just before 'the main corse showed up. The chips tasted stale but the salsa was good. I ordered Chipotle enchiladas which come with beans and rice. Enchiladas were bland and flavorless. The others in our party ordered combo fajitas for two and chicken enchiladas. I tried the beef fajitas the beef was just ok. Nothing special but I make my own fajitas at home and judge all fajitas by my own. So most do not compare. BTW, the flour tortillas taste like store bought. The chicken enchiladas were good according to my friend. All in all it was good but nothing special. I was expecting the food to be much better after reading others reviews. read more

No WONDER its always packed!! I Needed some Mexican to go on a Friday night and I was in and out in about 20 .... Now at home just "YEEEES!" about their beef chimichanga! My GOSH it is so good! I was expecting standard ground beef and instead there are chunks of steak! Hear me: SO good! Also, the salsa is excellent. If youre grabbing ToGo, ask for extra. Yay for great Mexican in Sachse!! I come here pretty often and I have to say they always satisfy. Service is generally always good, food is amazing, prices are fair, owners and managers are always sweet and friendly. This visit to Frankies, I had the pork stew chili relleno which is a cheese relleno on top of a bowl of their pork stew. It was delicious and I could come for just the pork stew next time. It was next to perfection. Service was very good. This experience was a 5 star visit. It was incredible. My friend had tamales with the same pork stew and was second to none. Great job! read more

I really love Frankies. I've sort of found a lack of good Mexican food in the area, as I'm used to more heat and more spice than is in Tex Mex. However, the staff has been really accommodating and spices it up. I *really* like heat, however, and they add it extra for me so.... if heat is not your thing, no worries the food doesn't come out extra hot on its own! But if it is make sure to let them know so they can hook it up for you. They have happy hour every day til 6 with $3 margaritas (frozen) and $5 (hand blended rocks). They also offer this open til close on Sunday. How groovy is that in its own right? They also have brunch Sat and Sunday. I also believe that they have Huevos Rancheros on the menu all day. The regular evening bartender, Lucas, is totally incredible and a great mixologist. Have him make you a skinny patron margarita, you won't be sorry. Brisket enchiladas was very good. A better substitution would be with two cheese enchiladas instead of 4 smash potato enchiladas. Excellent consistent services. Edit: Add another star because of the Tilapia Taco which was exceptionally good. The mango sauce really differentiated from other fish tacos of other places. Maracas casserole was just ok. This is now my favorite Mexican food resteraunt in our area!! There's not one bad thing I can say about anything we had. My husband ordered the Angie's enchiladas and I ordered the shrimp seafood enchiladas. Both were FANTASTIC!! It's not your everyday Tex-mex, that's for sure!! Great food and staff. Really liked everything about this place the two times we've been there. Last time was a huge wait we ended up waiting an hour outside but it was Friday at 730 when we got there so not going to hold that against them. We've had fajitas for two and the fajita chimichanga. It is great to give a deserving restaurant 5 stars! This is our first time here and we will be back. We had their ceviche with stuffed jalepenos and it was very flavorful.
