Had been looking for a new place in the area and after a long day of work I took the smallest one in my house and his mom to eat dinner in the neighboring city. The place is located with in a large shopping center with many restaurants so parking is at a premium. The front of the restaurant has no parking since its designated for quick pick ups. You enter and order your food which is TEX-MEX not Mexican. The young one wasn't hungry so his mom ordered brisket tacos. I had the guacamole and chips with sirloin tacos and one spicy taco on the side. The place is clean and kinda a neutral environment to it. They brought the food to our table and as I thought..uuugggg. Moms tacos were "sweet" which is not an adjective to use with tacos. My sirloin tacos looked and tasted just like Taco Bell NO difference. The spicy one was kinda deep fried meat and had some flavor with the Chipotle sauce. The guacamole had good taste and a small spicy bite to it with a good portion of chips but hardly any sauce (the sauce was placed in tiny containers). Well the young one stated "im not hungry...." uuuggghhh for a second time. For the portions, lack of flavor and price, $46 (minus $7 for my sons nuggets) I'll pass and rather make a run to the border. read more

Out getting some shopping done tonight and decided to stop here for a quick bite to eat. I absolutely love tacos and this place had plenty of choices, not to mention it was all delicious. Taco joint Wylie is pretty dope. Friendly, fast, and customer service was excellent. We got the Spicy Pork combo, Dr.J's queso, margarita, and brisket taco combo. Sadly, the spicy pork wasn't spicy at all and kinda bland, but it pairs well with salsa rojo which is an unlimited condiment. The spicy ranch is a must. The queso was super good. Nice flavor and hot. So I ordered the enchilada plate which was highly recommended, and it was trash. I also got an order of nachos and to be honest they wouldn't have been that bad but the jalapeños they use don't taste like jalapeños they taste like pickles they put a tiny scoop of guacamole and a whole handful of lettuce on the nachos Mexican or Texan eats lettuce on their nachos. It reminds me of Taco Bell with a little bit better presentation. read more

I want to commend Taco Joint for producing the absolute driest breakfast burrito I have ever encountered for over $15. Chorizo is supposed to have grease and I am baffled how there was zero moisture. Taco salad - I was quite disappointed when my taco salad came out in an aluminum container, WHERE IS MY TACO SHELL?? The brisket is a lot sweeter than others I have tried in the past. After digging through the bowl, I was sad to find only veggies and brisket, no rice and no beans. It's a more heathy choice for someone who is looking for a real salad. Taco combo - came with 2 tacos, a small container of rice & beans and a drink. Hubby thought the portion was less satisfying than Rosa's platter. Queso and chips - please just watch my clip and tell me if this looks more like a cheese soup? I could literally drink this cuz it was so watered down! This place just recently opened so do expect some growing issues. In fact I saw two issues but the manager on duty took care of it immediately. Mistakes happen but I'm glad to see them take responsibility. This is a walk up type taco joint. You have a choice of tacos or burritos. Both can be made into a combo meal which includes rice beans and a drink. Tacos can be soft, crispy beef or chicken. Queso is also on the menu I started with simple ground beef tacos, one hard one soft. Nothing outstanding but not bad either. My wife had the spicy fried chicken tacos. WARNING- when they say spicy, it's spicy! Even their jalapeño ranch sauce was spicy. But with all the spice there wasn't much flavor to the chicken. The queso reminded me of the homemade queso with rotel tomatoes. It's a fun place to go, and the staff seem eager to please. I wish their food had a bit more flavor, even a bit more salt. But their bar is well stocked with most of the beer you'll probably want with tacos. read more

Their Plano location is 5 stars) so I was really excited to see them open up so close to me... but this location is quite a disappointment. 1- Their cashier was rude. I ordered 1 street taco and 1 shrimp taco + chips/guac. She heard 1 street taco and 2 shrimp tacos + chips/guac. When I corrected her, she scoffed. 2- The quality was lacking. The steak in the street taco was tough. The shrimp taco was found lacking (literally just 5 small shrimps in a row wrapped with 2 corn tacos. Guac looked old. The avocado was browning by the time we got home (I live 5min away). read more

Let's just get right down to bidniz. Wylie, Texas is not known for having the most unique and creative food spots pop up. If you had to vote for the fried chicken capitol of the USA, then we are probably going to win. So I welcome any new restaurants that don't have a chicken in their logo. First off, any place around town between 11-2 is going to be busy, and parking will be terrible. With all the baseball and soccer games just getting out everyone is looking for a bite to eat. Their parking lot is shared with 2 other businesses so parking was not the most fun experience, but I won't hold them accountable for that. So if you're going just remember you may need to circle back a couple of times. The place inside was very busy, which to my brain makes me think this place has some decent food and I got excited. The cashier was super helpful and answered all my questions with kindness and didn't make me sound like an idiot like some of these younger kids do. So I ordered 6 different meals. Steak burritos, chicken burritos, bean and cheese burritos, crispy tacos and chips and queso. As with anything now a days, you can prepare to spend between $50-$70 easily with that many items, but they were priced reasonably. I saw multiple employees cleaning off the tables from previous people. Picking up trash and food that was also left over. Overall everything was clean the afternoon I went. Wait time was about 10-15 minutes, but I also did not have a small order. So overall I was happy. After getting all the food home, organized and starting the eating process, I was actually pretty impressed with how everything tasted. Was this the best Mexican food I've ever had? No. Was it the worst? No. It was all just decent and good. It's almost like if Taco Bueno and Chiloso had a baby, it would Taco Joint. I will say one thing they have going for them is the Jalapeno Ranch. That stuff could probably go on a shoe and I would eat it. I will be returning if I need something quick and easy. I do not understand all of the positive reviews. I ordered the Tuesday special and it was not edible. Both the flautas and the refried beans were too spicy for me to eat. The chicken in the flautas was obviously canned and looked like cat food. I picked up my order. When I got home, I realized that I did not have my drink. Made a quick stop in The Taco Joint since I was in the area. I ordered the Evan (vegetarian) and the picoso queso and chips and churros All items were pretty good. I appreciate the taco being that a lot of places that serve vegetarian tacos will only provide beans, rice, tomato, lettuce, or some kind of boring combination. The queso had a little more kick than I thought that it would. So if you like spicy and queso, this is for you! The churros were quite delish as well. They were fresh and had what I think was caramel in the center. Both employees that I interacted with were very nice. They greeted me when I came through the door and the establishment was as clean. We had been to the Plano location and enjoyed it so we thought we would give this one a shot. Not sure why the Yelp rating is so low. We had no complaints except the salsa needs some help. Too bland. Anyway, the place is new so it is very clean. We had a very helpful young man take our order and it was delivered promptly to our table. Tuesday special was shrimp quesadilla and it was excellent. My favorite here is the tortilla soup. The broth is tasty and full of chicken and large chunks of veggies. We told my parents about it and it is their new favorite place to get a taco combo plate. We got coupons in the mail to entice us to visit. We weren't disappointed. Our party had taco combo plates and salad. Tacos were fish and beef varieties in both corn and flour tortillas. All were big and tasty. Lots of sauce options to put on the tacos. Rice and beans on the combo meals were ok - especially for a counter service taco shop. Taco salad was very good. Service was quick and efficient. Only downside was no unsweet tea available and no sugar free/caffeine free soda either.
