this place is absolutely amazing. it's not fancy looking, but they serve food that would leave Gracie's green with envy. everything is made from scratch, including the corn tortillas and refried beans! I got the tortilla soup, my kids got the taco dinner and kids enchilida dinner, wife got the salmon enchilidas. not a single plate had food left afterwards. even our 4 year old cleared his plate! we also got chorros and flans for dessert. the chorros were amazing! very thick, perfectly done wirh crunchy exterior, followed by a soft inner layer, and finally a gooey cinnamon center. it comes with big heaping scoops of authentic vanilla icecream and 4 spoons! the flan was great but unusual. it was very dense, almost like cheesecakw. was delivious but too sweet for me haha read more

This place is truly amazing a very quaint gem hidden in Sachse from the service to the food everything is top notch. Our family is there at least once a week. This place is really nice for a great value. Parking lot isn't huge, but I've never had a problem finding a parking spot. Food is great with a very attentive service staff. One thing I'm a stickler for is that my drink is refilled when needed, and they haven't disappointed. Prices are very reasonable, with only a couple of issues why I took away a star. The waiting area is only 2 small benches inside. I've recently moved from California and when they are busy, most of the time customer's will need to wait outside. In the Texas heat, it sucks. It would also be nice to have more booth's versus tables, but that's just my preference. Other than those minor things, I'm a fan! read more

Yep! This place is the real deal. I've been there 4 times now and it's been great every time! From outside, it's easy to set low expectations....not much to look at Once inside, everything changes. Frankie's is small, but the atmosphere is awesome. Great bar, great decor, the HD flat screen in the bar is big and awesome. And the food...well, that is what brings me back. I've had a different dish each time and every time its been wonderful. I recommend anything with the Chipotle cream sauce. It's amazing. The only thing that could be slightly better are the chips...they are a little thick and can be inconsistent, that's the only thing stopping a 5 star review. Staff is 6 stars. We've been to both the Richardson & Sachse locations & find the quality equal at both locations. The margaritas are solid. Good guacamole but not great queso. Salsa has an awesome tangy, smokiness. All of the dinner entrees we've sampled are great tex-mex - enchiladas, chimichangas, rellenos, guiso. Love having a nice covered patio option as well. We've found that both locations are busy early so if you want a no-wait table, you best arrive before 5:30-6 pm. read more

Had dinner at Frankie's for the first time tonight. It was pretty crowded, so we took a table in teh bar area. The chios were insanely greasy, like literally dripping in grease, so they were offering tortillas with the salsa. I noticed later that they were serving those nasty chips without offering an alternative and they were still greasy. I got the Augustin Special (or something like that) and my daughter got the chicken fajitas. I was very disappointed in my meal, which was basically cheese/cheese enchiladas topped with some chicken fajita meat. The meat was dry and obviously prepared earlier. It was getting that dried out jerky look to it. Standard rice and beans. My enchiladas were nothing special, sort a mildly seasoned cheese sauce over 2 enchiladas filled with plain white cheese. Not bad, but nothing special. The bill was 31.00 with the tip. We just had water to drink. Honestly, it was a disappointing meal. Gloria's and Chiloso are consistent and very good. I've been here several times and only been in Texas for seven months. That right there should tell you how good it is! The food is very good. The brisket enchiladas with mashed potatoes (my brothers favorite) is INSANE! Never even heard of this till I came here. My favorite is the Chimichanga! I ask for it without the sauce under it (just seems weird to have an Italian sauce under it, plus I like it cheesy not saucy) and with no onions. I get the chicken which is tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The queso is to die for! We almost always get an order of queso AND brisket nachos to take home for lunch next day. They ALWAYS give us extra chips and salsa. Koe (not sure on spelling) is the BEST waiter there! Some of the other waiters are not that attentive to the customers. Only ONCE I was disappointed in both the food and the service. The service was very slow and my Chimichanga had peas and carrots in it and was watery..odd...must have been a different cook on shift. I like going around 4:00 p.m. so not so crowded and food always good. As for atmosphere...well they leave a lot to be desired there lol. The bathroom is eh. It is kinda a hole in the wall and small. My husband and I go to Frankie's whenever we can now. It is fantastic and not run of the mill. I have had a different dish every time and never haveI been disappointed. VERY surprising Mexican food place! Very laid back atmosphere. We've passed by Frankie's several times during prime time and always noticed a line of folks out the door waiting to get a seat. Whenever you see a place like that, you know it's better than good. On the other hand, if you ever see a place with a "Help Wanted" sign out front...keep on driving by. Today, Saturday at 2:30, we made it a point to have a late lunch there. Surprisingly, it was busy, but we immediately got a table in the room to the right of the bar. And we were promptly brought our drinks, chips and salsa which is excellent...not too spicy. Lots of great sounding dishes to be found on the menu. We ordered the spinach/jalapeno queso as an appetizer...very good! We watched the delicious looking plates coming from the kitchen to see what others were having. One gentleman had a sizzling steak that looked and smelled fantastic. We overheard him tell the waiter that it was the best he'd ever had - this 'ol boy looked like he'd had quite a few in his time so I took him at his word that he knew what he was talking about. It was a tough decision, but we ordered the brisket enchiladas (four on a plate) with an extra plate so we could split them. I broke tradition for the first time ever for my first visit at a Mexican food place in that I traditionally order the chili relleno. But this time, those brisket enchiladas screamed out for me to try them first. Two of those enchiladas filled me up (with a lot of help from the generous portion of queso). They were excellent! A definite "wow" factor. The friendly waiters always kept busy making sure our tea glasses were filled as well as the salsa. They were professional and very appreciative that we were there. The brisket enchiladas are well worth the trip back to Frankie's! But the next time we go, I'll give the chili relleno a try and let you know by updating this review. Frankie's been in Sachse, TX for a little over two years. The owner(s) and management are doing a great job with the kitchen and the staff because everyone was friendly, happy to be there, accommodating, professional, and service first orientated. Keep it up Frankie's and yall will be there a long, long time. I highly recommend Frankie's as being well worth the drive from anywhere in Dallas or Collin County...Even Grayson County. read more

We showed up last night at 9pm, which was when they closed. We were starving and had our heart set on Frankie's because the food is amazing and the staff is always friendly and attentive. They welcomed us in and told us we could get enchiladas which was fine with us because they are awesome! We also had chips and queso which was plenty! They never rushed us, just went about their business of closing and cleaning while still refilling our drinks before our glasses were empty. Very gracious staff. We are so happy we found this little gem of a restaurant and HIGHLY RECOMMEND you visit for their amazing Sunday brunch. Get there early because it fills up fast! read more

Great spot. I like that they use queso Blanco in the cheese enchiladas. Get it with tomatillo sauce. Frozen margarita was good. Not great, but to get great usually you need to go top shelf. Flan is usually my ultimate gauge. Coconut flan fantastic. Will definitely eat here again. I pass at least 5 Mexican food restaurants to eat here. Why not 5 stars? We ordered from Frankie's 2 weeks ago. They're Brisket Enchiladas are our favorite. They seemed different. Very salty (and it's hard to use to much salt for me) Also, the sauce was off too. I'm not sure what has changed there but it definitely is showing in the food. Sad, because that was a favorite place close to home. read more
