OH MY! A lovely old school Italian spot where you feel like youre in Nonna's living room. I mean the woodwork alone will take you back a few decades but the staff truly make the experience. Quite ironic this Italian food is killer and the waiters are Irish, I wonder what the chefs are! hah! The drinks were strong, salad was excellent and the apps totally filled me up. Overall a great great experience and would highly recommend.

Veal Chop. Prob the best veal chop I have ever had

Wow ! Was invited to a party in the wine room at Franina. The food was exceptional. Service was top-notch. This is an old-school italian restaurant that definitely knows what they are doing. We started with a delcious plate of fresh Mozzarella and Melon and prosciutto, then we had rigatoni wirh sauce. The pasta dish was so simple but yet so delicious. The pasta was cooked Al dente, and the sauce was amazing. I went with the Veal Chop wirh Peppers. Wow, I'm glad I did! The veal was cooked perfectly , and I highly suggest this dish. I didn't see a menu since I was at a party, but if this dish is available on the menu, get it ! My girlfriend went with the filet mignon, which was also cooked perfectly and she loved it This restaurant was outstanding. I can not wait to return.

It's been several years since we have dined at Franina, and after enjoying our dining experience immensely, I just did not understand what kept us away for so long. I believe, Franina is one of the best Italian restaurants on Long Island that I have dined recently. As one enters the restaurant, one would find a traditional bar area to your left and further into the hallway is a grand slicer for prosciutto. There is comfortable cozy back dining room where we were seated and a second dining area that glances onto the rustic wine-storage section, which one would notice a considerable selection of Italian reds. Their staff, which also includes the owners personal notice, are attentive and friendly. We were pleased that the owner had seated us prior to our guests arriving. Once our party arrived, we chose two appetizers to share, one was the grilled octopus Polipo alla Griglia, and the other was the Lobster Seafood Salad. The appetizers were perfectly prepared, plentiful, and delicious. For dinner, I had the Monk Fish Oreganatta style special which was especially good. The others in our party very much enjoyed the Pollo Siciliana and the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb. After enjoying a wonderful meal, we could not deter ourselves from the dessert menu. The ambiance is very warm and charming. And yes, sensational food with high quality presentation, service, and creativity. We will be dining at Frannia often when we are in town.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant on Long Island. the food is very fresh and high quality. The service spot on too. Victor (owners son) runs the place mostly and is doing all the cooking himself. Pete the bartender and the entire wait staff are all friendly and very helpful. The 1st picture is lobster seafood salid for takeout for Thanksgiving dinner. The wine room has regular dinner seating and also can be reserved for private parties. There also is valet parking. They also have an elaborate Italian wine list stored in their masive wine cellar. Ask for the Zucchini flowers for an appetizer it's a definite must try. But no matter what you order you will not be disappointed.

Belvedere Vodka Martini

RECOMMENDED On Wednesday, March 6th, I and four others dined at Franina, a restaurant that has been on the short list of fine Northern Italian restaurants. Parking is valet and the valet was very pleasant. While waiting for my companions, I enjoyed a top notch Belevedere Vodka Martini at the attractive bar. The restaurant honored our 7:00 p.m. reservation on time. Our waiter was competent but a little too brusque for my liking. He recited a nice list of specials. Pay attention. You may hear about some appealing dishes. I started with the Stuffed Artichoke ($19), a special. It was a superior version, not made "mushy" by an excessive olive-oil based sauce as this dish sometimes arrives at other places. I liked it. I followed up with the Braciole with Pappardelle Bolognese ($39.95). It was good but overpriced relative to portion size. Basically, I got a single small Braciole, a dollop of pasta and a few steamed vegetables. This is a $25.00 dish at most Italian restaurants. My rating is based upon the positive experience of my fellow diners. The one who had the Veal Siciliana said she enjoyed it, though it was a little salty for her taste. Two diners had the Caesar Salad, which was not on the menu but was special ordered. I tasted it. The lettuce was crisp and the dressing was fresh and tasty. One member dug the Lamb Shank ($54.00), pretty high priced for what is not real (veal) Osso Buco. Diners also enjoyed the Orecchette with Broccoli Rabe and the Paccheri Pasta with a (substituted) Meat Sauce. One person had Tiramisu for dessert and enjoyed it. BOTTOM LINE: I don't get the excessive praise for this restaurant but I recommend that you try it for yourself.

Delicious Northern Italian food! Beautiful, quaint restaurant. Nice, quiet ambience. Male servers. Attentive, and polite. Great wine list. The food was delicious! Cheese risotto & asparagus melted in your mouth, as so the beef ! Was never truly a fan of figs but these are to die for. With a fresh, chopped melon salad at the bottom, gave the dish the perfect balance of sweet & salty. The bronzino was out of this world delicious! Super fresh, reminded me of Bermuda! Tastefully successful. Stop by & treat yourself!! Don't miss out!

The ambiance has that classic white tablecloth feel -- elegant and comfortable without being overly formal. We were seated promptly for our 5:00 p.m. reservation and immediately felt relaxed. Warm bread with olive oil, vinegar, and butter arrived right away, which was such a nice touch. I was so hungry that I almost forgot to take a photo before finishing most of it. Since we'll be away for the holiday weekend, we decided to order single-size dishes instead of the larger family-style portions. I had the Linguine Alana, while hubby ordered the Chicken Napalatano special. Even the smaller portions were incredibly generous, and both dishes were beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. I do not eat meat, but I tried a small piece of hubby's chicken, and it was honestly delicious -- so tender that he was able to cut it with just a fork. What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional hospitality. Our server, Vinny, was personable, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to talk to. He made excellent recommendations and answered all of our questions about the menu. One of the owners, Chris, also stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect and that we were well taken care of, which made the experience feel even more welcoming and personal. Excellent food, generous portions, and outstanding hospitality -- exactly the kind of restaurant we love discovering. We left very impressed and will absolutely be returning soon.

I got the chicken picata which came a la carte and a side of pesto cavatelli. The cavatelli was fresh pasta and the portion of pasta was large for a side I think they gave me just a regular pasta meal. I tried the Italian sunrise which I didn't like at all. My husband had the pesto gnocchi and enjoyed his meal. We finished with the cookies and cream mousse which was light. My cappuccino was delicious. My only complaints are my jacket and clothes smelled like fried food because we were sitting close to the kitchen which I didn't like of course. My leftover chicken was not entire meal that was leftover which was disappointing.

On March 29th, we hosted my grandmother's 85th birthday here with about 30 people. This wasn't some last-minute reservation--we planned everything months in advance directly with Sal. From the very beginning, we made it clear that the entire reason we chose this restaurant was for their private room. My grandmother had attended another party there and loved that space--it's private, has its own bathroom, and was perfect since we had a lot of kids attending. Sal explicitly told us there was no minimum or maximum for the room and guaranteed it to us. Based on that promise, we booked the party. As the date got closer, we even upgraded the package--paying extra per person for an additional course. Only then did Sal casually slip in that we would NOT be getting the private room. So if we hadn't called to add that upgrade, we likely wouldn't have found out until the day of the event. When we questioned him, he suddenly claimed there was a "minimum" requirement of people to secure the room--something he NEVER mentioned before. Then he tried to say there was a contract stating we weren't guaranteed the room... except we were never given any contract. No paperwork. No receipt for our deposit. Nothing. Completely unprofessional and shady. A few days later, when my dad followed up, Sal finally admitted the truth: another, larger party booked the room. Fine--we understand businesses prioritize money. But don't LIE and promise something you can't deliver. Don't book us under false pretenses and then backtrack with excuses and made-up policies. We were then told we'd get the corner, semi-private part of the restaurant space with three tables. That didn't happen either. Instead, we were crammed into the front, basically in the middle of the restaurant. It was chaotic, loud, and completely inappropriate for a large family gathering--especially with young kids running around and my 85-year-old grandmother struggling just to get to the bathroom. To make matters worse, when we calmly expressed our disappointment afterward, Sal didn't even have the decency to have a conversation. He literally put his hand up and said, "I'm done with this conversation," and walked away, leaving his waiter to handle it--despite the fact that he was the one who mishandled everything. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic respect was unbelievable. We felt completely taken advantage of and misled from start to finish. This was supposed to be a special milestone celebration, and instead it turned into a stressful and upsetting experience for our entire family. We will absolutely NEVER be coming back, and I strongly advise anyone considering booking an event here to think twice. If they can do this to a party planned months in advance, they can do it to anyone.

We started with fresh baked bread and their signature ricotta-style bruschetta dip, which set the tone right away. The meats and cheeses were high quality and full of flavor. The tortellini in broth was especially comforting and perfect for the colder weather. For entrees, the veal was perfectly crispy and paired well with the mashed potatoes and spinach. The balanzoni stood out for its rich, flavorful sauce, and adding the lasagna was absolutely worth it -- layered, hearty, and extremely satisfying. Dessert was just as strong. The tartufo was rich without being overwhelming, the ice cream was smooth and refreshing, and the biscotti was hands down the best we've ever had. Ending with coffee tied the meal together nicely.
