Great spot for awesome food! I've been here twice within the last year and both times the food was phenomenal. The space is clean and cold (if you're sitting in front of the a/c). Definitely bring a light jacket in summer. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Walls filled with eclectic art. A gorgeous bar and immaculate drinks. The menu is "as-is," meaning no substitutions, however they have so much variety that there is something for everyone. Their menu is also seasonal which is a huge plus. The service is great and even though there's a carafe of water on the table, they will go around and pour it in your cup when they see it is low. We had never been to Sea Cliff's Fosters Restaurant before, and I have to tell that it was simply fantastic. There are some delectable appetizers and courses at this little bistro. We had the roasted chicken and the cod special. try the lamb meatball appetizer, It's like a gyro without the pita. Wood-fired pizzas and dishes are available, and all of the cuisine is freshly prepared. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Additionally, there is a small bar. My new favorite restaurant! Everything is made in house and it's absolutely delicious! The flavors in the dishes we got paired so well together. We ordered the fried chicken wings after learning that this restaurant has won best friend chicken on Long Island 2 years in a row! They live up to their name. It was indeed the best fried chicken I've had. The potato crisp salad was also very delicious and refreshing. Our martinis were amazing and made exactly as we requested. We had a wonderful server named James that was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations. The food came out quickly and the service was amazing! Came here during LI Restaurant Week to take advantage of the $46 pre-fixe dinner. Hubby ordered Gnudi app, Linguine and shrimp entree and Bananas Foster dessert. I ordered mussels app, Chimichurri Bavette Steak entree and the bread pudding dessert. The steak had a $10 up charge. There was a Korean style rice cake dish that hubby "needed" to try and the chef was gracious enough to accommodate a half order for us. Simply put, I wasn't expecting much, just a nice dinner out during the week. We had an early-ish reservation so there were only a couple of tables occupied when we arrived but started to fill up when we left. We were sat at a two person table in the middle. Considering the restaurant was empty when we arrived, I would have appreciated a table elsewhere but it was fine. The table next to us was a little louder than I would have liked but that was towards the end of the dinner. Now the food...we started with the rice cakes. I didn't know what to expect as this was not an Asian restaurant yet here's this Korean style dish. It was definitely not the Korean dish it referred to but it had an Americanized flair. Rice cakes with a ground pork sauce that had a hint of spice. My husband said it reminded him of an Italian ragu. Oddly enough I actually enjoyed it. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly, I'm a sucker for rice cakes. The mussels were tasty and the bread dipped in the sauce was yummy. The steak could have had a little more salt and I wished there was more chimichurri sauce. The portion size was small even for $28 but I presume that is because of restaurant week. I enjoyed the flavor of the bread pudding but I'm used to bread pudding being a bit softer in texture. My spoon had to be given a little more pressure to cut through. So why 4 stars? I enjoyed my night out. All in all the food was good. A little tweak here and there. I would definitely go back for a night out with friends. read more

I can't say enough good things about Foster. The food is amazing. The fried chicken is award-winning. Great ambience with cool art they feature from local artists and the fire pizza oven makes it nice and cozy in the winter. John, the bartender, makes fantastic cocktails and offers excellent wine recommendations. I've always been impressed by the service here and highly recommend Foster. Went there tonight for a nightcap at the bar after a nice dinner across the street. While at the bar with my wife and another couple the bartender heard me discussing how the Super Bowl pool that was hanging behind the bar works. 1/2 of the $$ goes to the winner and half goes to a local school it said. I explained to my friend next to me that I prefer pools in which we keep 100% of our winnings. The rude bartender must have been eavesdropping rudely. He interjected that "I should be happy to share the money with local kids." Then he asked, " when is the last time you shared money with your kid, or now that I look at you , should I say grandkids?" He said "probably once a year and think that is OK." He knows nothing about my automatic deductions into his NYS 529 savings plan. Totally unprofessional and rude for a bartender to think his worth is to have anything more than his ability to make good cocktails. If I want to engage in obnoxious back and forth with bartenders that think their opinions matter to me I will drink in the west village. Rude bartenders. I will never be back. Our pappardelle promised morels but came with oyster and shiitake mushrooms instead. Shrimp was overcooked and chewy, and the octopus had a mushy texture that made it inedible. At this price point, accuracy and proper preparation should be a given. We wanted to really like this place but just couldn't get past the food. They also completely burnt my son's burger bun and then handed him a new one that wasn't toasted at all. My family couldn't even hear each other inside. First, we came very late (just about close) and they we so gracious, friendly, and accommodating. Service was top notch. The vibe of the place was dark but still fun. Cool but not full of itself. The open kitchen was center stage, as was the massive oven. This oven was cranking out gems. The pizzas were awesome. Sorry, I missed taking video. Thin, charred and full of flavor. The Margherita was great (had pesto) as was The Rowen (Kalamata Olives, Sopresatta, House Made Mozzarella). The sautéed calamari was amazing...sliced and not breaded like ceviche (Long Island Squid, Garlic, Jalapeño, Cilantro, Lime). Both are a must get. The entrees were just as outstanding. Top notch burger and lobster roll in the handheld world. I believe the special of the night was veal schnitzel/Milanese, crispy and delicious. But the grilled Berkshire Pork with cherry jam was massive, succulent, and bursting with flavor. Literally, it's one of the best pieces of meat I think I've ever enjoyed. And I've had some meat in my time. Just outstanding. The beer list was crafty and too drawer, clearly well thought out and not second fiddle to the great cocktails and wines. The desserts were outstanding as well. The bananas foster with ice cream was great. The grilled pineapple and ice cream with coconut was a revelation. Great indoor/outdoor dining spot in Sea Cliff. Among my dining companions, the pork chop, the burger and the individual sized pizzas received the best reviews. The wine, beer, and hard liquor selections are extensive. Very friendly and helpful service. Street parking isn't hard to find. read more

I have been to this place and all the Restaurant's it has occupied since it was the Harlequin Club. Now Fosters is a welcome addition as the place hasn't changed in layout since Tupelo Honey, but the decor has and it is done in good taste. We visited for lunch yesterday and while a limited menu our choices were delicious and James our server was knowledgeable, efficient, with a nice personality. The Chef seems very creative so if you feel like trying some differently prepared and presented food, I think you'll find your here. We'll be back. Oh one thin I hate is charging for the use of a credit card, but something creative in finance. They take a Debit card and do not charge the 3 %. Last weekend I had my sons christening and 1st birthday party there and it was amazing. From the ownership to the staff to the management, the whole team was incredible. They were so incredibly accommodating and the food was done beautifully. The staff was very well trained and everything seemed very effortless. Service is amazing. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. Beautiful restaurant and the bar is really nice if you just want to stop by for a drink. Highly recommend chef's counter.. you can watch them cook while eating and enjoying the beautiful scents coming from the kitchen. (Also all the staff looks so happy and really love what they are doing!). I recommend the mushroom and sweet pea pizza. Great dough - very tasty. Fresh cheese and veggies on top. Meat/fish are cooked over a hot wood flame.. our fish was definitely a little over cooked. Ingredients are high quality. Chef is all about presentation and the food looks beautiful plates. Make sure you check your bill for absurd fees, such as an admin fee and a large party fee (we were only 6 people). All the fees came to $96. Manager refunded the fees and said it was a "system error" but I imagine some people may not catch it on their bills. Funny enough, told a friend about it the next day and they said it happened to them too. Seems fishy. Food was decent but not worth a 2nd trip. read more
