Felice anniversario! When we were seated, we were wished a Happy Anniversary and presented with a glass of champagne. We shared a roasted beets appetizer (with the most delicious walnut butter), and bread with olive oil. I had an Amore Primaverile Spritz, with Prosecco and passionfruit. For my entree I had the lasagna bolognese, very tender noodles, delicious sauce and delicately cheesy. My companion had a steak, perfectly cooked, with mashed potatoes and broccolini. For dessert, they presented us with a cake. Not cake. An entire cake. It was quite tasty and there were two togo boxes with the leftover pieces. This was a very nice anniversary dinner.

This quaint Italian eatery has a definite upscale vibe to it with a lovely, large outdoor seating area that is nicely shaded during the dinner hours. We sat outside and so we weren't expecting great table service but I was pleasantly surprised how excellent the service was. Chris, our waiter, did a great job and at least three other staff members interacted with us. The meal started with complimentary bread and grated parmesan. We split the Insalata ala Francesca (veggie salad) and opted to split the Pollo Arrosto Ala Romana (roasted half chicken with roasted potato wedges). The chicken dish came in a savory, lightly lemon rosemary sauce with shallots and it was expertly prepared. The skin was nicely crisp and the breast meat portion was a little dry in spots but it didn't detract from the dish in any way. We were too full to order desert but it was tempting with several choices blending Gelato with baked goods. A wonderful dining experience - definitely eat outside if weather permits.

Good Italian in Lake Forest, every dish is fresh, made to order a family feel based on decor and atmosphere. One of the best Italian restaurants in the area.

I rarely leave reviews, but wanted to thank the staff and our amazing server from last night (Tessa I believe). We don't eat out very often as we love to make our own food. However, this was a wonderful experience, with extraordinary food, and thoughtful service. It was our 35th wedding anniversary, and I can't think of a better place to have celebrated it.

Great lunch specials! They have a current lunch option for $25 that includes soup, bruschetta, an entree, and dessert. (Some limitations) plus bread for the table. The food was delicious!! You get one piece of bruschetta with fresh mozzarella, and I had minestrone soup that was hearty and flavorful. For my entree I got pasta with vodka sauce, sausage crumbles, and fresh mozzarella. Lastly, for dessert I finished the meal off with tiramisu. Everything was amazing. I left full to capacity. Service was wonderful. The staff were very attentive to all tables and helping each other out by making sure everyone's drinks were refilled quickly. Love to see them working as a team instead of individual only covering their assigned tables. Definitely recommend!

Stopped by Francesca's for a date night and it was just as cozy as I remembered. We started with the brushcetta and Caesar salads. Bruschetta was delish! I was a bit disappointed in the salads though - we've had them before and the parm used to be fresh and they were parm shreds, this time it was just grated parm which took away from the flavor a bit. And it lacked a bit of salt. I ordered the spinach rolli and my partner for the agnolotti - both delicious, the rolli could have used more sauce, but the agnolotti was like heaven. The tiramisu for dessert was amazing as always!

Third time I've been here. Delicious Italian food every time. Conveniently located. Plenty of parking space and so close to work. Wait staff courteous and friendly. Forget to take pics but finally remembered. We ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and it was delicious!! Flavorful!!

It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . The food was Asian themed and they had different drinks than the other restaurant next-door . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was expecting one thing when I walked in and I got another, but we were pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks that we received so we will be back.

The small size pizza was cut into 6 slices so it's just about perfect for two adults. It was so savory it was literally hard to stop eating it! The sauce, although basic, had a nice tang to it and it really was perfectly matched to the ample cheese. The crust was cooked to perfection and I was glad to see it was a flour-based crust, not cornmeal. All in all, a surprisingly great experience in a nice casual setting (and very close in many ways to Nancy's Pizza on Broadway in the city).

Man, am I glad we got the flyer, because they have since become one of our local favorites! For the longest time, Lou Malnati's was our favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza, but Cansino's is now #1 in town for us. Their cheese blend is soooo creamy, stretchy, and delicious! It's apparently their own in-house blend of California cheeses, and it reminds us of the tasty Wisconsin brick that's popular in Detroit style (possibly a little creamier but less salty). Their tomato sauce is super savory, with a rich herb blend and not too sweet or tart - it's so satisfying! The crust is firm and delicious, and their sausage is leaner than Lou's while having a stronger fennel essence. We still love other Chicago style deep dish pizzas, but Cansino's will be the first on our list when we get a craving. We love onion rings in principle, but are a little particular about how we enjoy them. Cansino's onion rings are excellent - crispy seasoned breading and supple onion slices that are cooked juuuust right. Their fries are also really tasty, and we loved their fried mushrooms. I've tried two of their Mexican style tortas, which were also very good (I loved the fajita style veggies and beans, and the seasoned beef was pretty good). The steak and veggies were excellent, and their bread was pretty good. Next time, I REALLY wanna try their paninos. Their staff is super-friendly, giving us great suggestions of new things to try. The restaurant is always clean and well lit. Prices are fair for the neighborhood. Their preparation times are reasonable, and everything we've ordered was ready on time. There's plenty of parking right in front of the shop, and their front entrance is easily accessible. They're right across the street from the Fort Sheridan Metra Station, so I recommend trying them out if that's your stop. They also have some breakfast items, so it might be a good treat before your morning commute. We're definitely going to be trying more of Cansino's menu, and we'll be sure to add more photos and updates.

Food. I had the skirt steak. It was ok. The amount of salsa accoutrement was too much, it was the only thing on the plate and matched the length of the steak. The salsa alongside the steak you could tell was not fresh, it had a dull grayish look to it, with no fresh vibrance to it. The potatoes on the side were ok, probably more suited alongside the steak. Overall I'd say, if the middle of the Shepards Pie was cold that tells me it's not fresh made to order, and the not so fresh salsa, they just need to tighten up. I think it's very close to a top notch restaurant in a sought after neighborhood.
