We opted to stay at Kimber Modern while attending a wedding nearby. The hotel was perfect for our needs and I would definitely stay here again! First the location was ideal, right on South Congress and the best part is that the parking is free! I was a little concerned about noise coming from the clubs that are literally steps away, but it was not an issue the weekend I was there. Second, the property is more like an Airbnb in that there's no front desk. You get the access code via email prior to your arrival. However, that is not to say that there's no staff. I had some questions and was easily able to talk/text to someone immediately. We were in the Orange room which was comfortable and well-designed for two people. Plenty of storage space in the main room and in the bathroom. I always get nervous when I see the wall mounted AC unit, but this one worked great! Our room was nice and cold and the unit was very quiet. My only negative point of our entire stay is that the water pressure in the bathroom is a bit weak and the hot water from the sink tap takes a very long time to warm up. We enjoyed the common room with the Jura coffee maker. There is also filtered water and other beverages available at no charge. I'd like to add that the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. I look forward to staying here again soon!

Such a beautiful & peaceful place. Well worth the expense if you can swing it. The room & private balcony? Gorgeous. Courtyard? Amazing. Common area? Well supplied & open for access 24/7 with amenities. Staff? Attentive, yet invisible. Highly recommend.

Ohmigosh- if you see a negative review for this place; don't believe it! I pulled up hotels.com like I usually do when I arrive in Austin to see what's nearby, what's priced reasonably, etc. I love it here. I wish I could move in. Only 7 rooms. Right off SOCO, peaceful, quiet, tranquil, beautiful, and while I'm sure the staff is lovely, you never see them. The whole transaction was electronic. There's no check in desk or anything. The purple room was perfect for my 1 night business trip. I can't imagine staying anywhere else now that I've found this place. Not to mention - there's a community room in the middle with free wine, beer, water, and coffee selections. They also serve breakfast. I mean...

What can I say that hasn't already been said?! This place is amazing! They have beyond great service. They allow texting between you and them for easy and quick help. The keyless entry is such a perk! It's so so easy and nice just to have a code! The room and common areas have very cool modern looks. As another reviewer said, "it feels as if you're staying a your rich friends house while they're away". That perfectly sums it up because it's so homey here that it does feel like a house. They have a kitchen where you can have water at anytime, use their silverware, get some tea or have a snack! There's so much that can be said about this place that I could go on and on forever. I hope more places will follow Kimber Modern! The energy here is very relaxing and lovely. Each and every time I would choose Kimber before a corporate hotel!

Wow, we LOVED our stay here. After long bouts tromping about Austin we were so happy to find ourselves back at our room at the Kimber, chilling in our room & enjoying a complimentary chilled beverage! And the breakfast were so tasty, great fruit & rustic bakery bread, almond butter and hard boiled eggs and great coffee/espresso. Loved the modern aesthetic, super comfy mattress & bedding, even loved the bath products!!! Can't wait to return.

This is something different in Austin if you don't need the full physical offerings of a huge hotel--gym, pool, restaurant, etc. If you're just looking for a quiet place to retreat after a day of exploring, then here's your place. It's a mid-century aesthetic all the way with clean lines and lots of white accented with primary colors. I got bumped up to the White Suite, which was a nice treat and came with a giant outdoor patio. The bathroom was enormous and had a practically pool-sized tub. The bed was comfortable and the room also had a sofa sitting area and a desk space. The outdoor common area has a lots of seating and a water feature, and the kitchen area off of it was stocked with juice, coffee, water, wine, and beer all the time with breakfast offerings put out in the morning as well. The only issue with the outdoor common area was mosquitoes, who swarmed my legs when I sat down. If the bloodsuckers love you too, you might want to bring some repellent. I didn't rent a car and chose to do the city on foot, and the Kimber is ideally located for poking around the South Congress area and you can even walk up to the bridge for the nightly bat viewing if you don't mind a bit of a hike (15 minutes or so). The Continental Club for live bands is literally a stone's throw from the front door of the Kimber. The San Jose Hotel's courtyard bar is just across from that, and there are lots of other little shops and restaurants within a couple of blocks, so you can easily spend an afternoon and evening just a block over from your little retreat. I arrived earlier than anticipated and had to call the number by the door to get in, so if you're arriving early, be sure to work that out in advance. You can leave bags in the office at the hotel if the room isn't ready yet. It's easy to contact someone to take care of any little issues that might arise.

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

While I mostly kept to the hotel, when I did venture out, I found that there were lots of great dining options within walking distance. If this stay were not reimbursed, I would have removed a star considering rooms average $500 a night and reliable internet access is expected. However, I was given 2,500 bonus points after calling the front desk when I first noticed I didn't have service. We had a clean and tidy suite on the first level. Two queen beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The plugs weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. The fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although the snack/tea/coffee spot with Keurig isn't filled often. We had to ask for the night staff to refill the water for tea. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless coffee and their signature breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, maintenance of amenities could be better handled. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out priceless). However if booking directly through Colton House, parking is 50% off for $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not.
