Doan gets me in when he has a tight schedule but I try to call a week ahead out of respect for his time. Jenny was nice with Powder Dip Nails. I have had powder dip nails by four different technicians in Reno. She was good, not exactly smooth on the finish. Time will tell if the nail lifts. What bothers me is every salon has the top coat with light cured gel and not the actual powder curing top that should be used. read more

Foxy Nails continues to be a 5 star experience! I was surprised when Don and Tina sold the business and wasn't sure if the new owners could keep up the high standards that were in place. Well I'm happy to say that the new owners are wonderful! They have made a few updates to the salon that are lovely and the salon is spotlessly clean. I have been very pleased with my gel fills and gel pedicures. They have lasted the appropriate amount of time without any issues. The products seem to be the same good quality as always and they continue to run on time which is so important. I'm so happy that Foxy Nails will continue to be my go to nail salon. Give them a try. I was pretty disappointed in my overall experience. I came here because it was so highly rated but walked away surprised it has such good reviews. They seem to specialize in acrylics and nail design, so if that's what you're looking for, they may be an appropriate salon for you. I had a deluxe pedicure (regular polish) and manicure with dip. The pedicure had a few flaws. The water temperature was cold, the technician did not push back or remove cuticles, and cut toe nails very short without asking. It looks like my feet haven't been buffed in a few weeks even though I just went a few days ago. The chair was broken so I was unable to turn on the massage feature. The manicure was also underwhelming. The technician was very rough when filing and shaped my nails into squares, again without asking. I prefer rounded. They also did not trim cuticles and the sides and tips of my nails are uneven. The dip polish itself came out a bit streaky and is not on all of the nail. One nail seemed to have debris in it and it came out with a bump. The technician finished letting my nails dry, told me to wash my hands and then left me without indicating the service was over or massaging my hands. Generally, the place was clean but not sparkling. It didn't seem unclean but there were some things that seemed less sanitary like nail dust and clippings in the space between the towel my hands were on and the end of the station. They had a wide color selection and repeatedly offered water. Overall, I think my disappointment was driven by the glowing reviews versus my actual experience. I will be trying another salon before coming back but it wasn't terrible. read more

Yikes. So I'm upset that I went against my initial inclination and I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but I'll never go back here. I initially had Tracy (sp?) for the first time. She was a very nice nail tech, my only complaint is these places double book and she started to rush towards the end but nevertheless and overall good job. Even though I had to go home and file them shorter and I think my nails didn't last as long because of that. It was my first time with gel x and therefore never had a fill or whatever gel x entails. I broke a nail and had the displeasure of seeing Hannah to fix it. She was just rude. Not very nice. Didn't greet me. Seemed inconvenienced. Just a nasty person. I remember she never said hello or was polite but someone else walked in after me and she spoke and smiled. I had never had gel x so I asked what was the polish for. She rudely said it wasn't polish. My nail was lifting she just painted over it and because I wasn't familiar with the fixing process I said thanks and left. Anyway, a week or so later I needed to get my nails redone because they were starting to chip and break, including the one she "fixed." So I called for the initial woman but I couldn't remember her name, just where she sat. They said Hannah was available. I said absolutely not! So we picked someone else. I got there and didn't remember who had my appt. Again they brought up Hannah I said no but I tried to give her another chance and I regret it. I asked Hannah again about the other woman. She said she was not coming back and she can't give out her information. I was like I just want to know what happened to this mystery woman who did my nails once. I'm not trying to stalk her but clearly, you're trying to make me out to be a criminal. Again, she was rude, didn't do a good job and just treated me differently then other less melaninated customers.. she asked me to wash my hands and I did and there were no paper towels. She had one flat on her hands and I tried to use it she moved away from me and curtly patted my hands dry. It was just weird experience. Once we were done, she tried to smooth it over by saying the nails were nice etc. They weren't. It was sloppy, bulged, lumpy and reflected her poor work ethic and attitude. People wonder why customers don't speak up and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but then you wind up paying for a service you hate. Otherwise, If I did, I'd be stigmatized for being "that" customer. read more

Foxy Nails is under new ownership. Erik and Tiana are amazing. I was sad to see the old owners go as I really liked them. But I could never find a truly great nail tech before Tiana came to foxy. She is a true talent and really loves her work, and it shows. I was never a regular for acrylic nails because I found in the past they were more trouble than they were worth, especially if I only liked how they were done half of the time. Tiana does an amazing job EVERY time. And she will adjust if you do not like it during the process. She manages to make the thick acrylics look natural at any length. And always makes me feel pretty. I was able to get in the same day, I forget the man's name but he was very fast and had a steady hand, he said he's been doing nails for 30 years and you can definitely tell. Shaping was perfect, good color selection. Immediately booked another appointment. I was getting Gel X nails before, they don't offer those here so I went with the hard Gel manicure, definitely going to stick with that service in the future. More gentle on the natural nail, sturdy as heck, no peeling or chipping, and he was able to add some length on my thumbnail that was shorter than the rest. read more

I have lived in Reno for a year and hopped around to different salons and techs and have been very disappointed each time with the poor quality of service. I am very particular about my cuticles being thoroughly cleaned of dead skin, the shape of my nail beds being natural and consistent among each finger/toe, and the entire nail being completely polished and neatly. They both heard the preferences I communicated before they started work and DELIVERED HIGH QUALITY SERVICE. Worst nail salon in Reno. Went for a simple mani/ pedi. Confirmed that upon arrival with friend. After the pedi they had a walk in group of three people. They immediately sat them down, then kept checking the polish on our toes every 10 minutes saying they weren't dry. They were, but they took the walk ins and didn't have enough people to do our manis. After 30 minutes of our "drying" time they said they didn't know we booked a mani. Sat us down and I experienced the worst manicure of my life- thick Lubriderm lotion was involved. A shiny buff is an additional charge. Doesn't round nails, merely clips and moves on. Salon was DIRTY and ALL equipment was REUSED. Towels on nail stations were not switched between customers. Many upset customers while inside. Was NOT relaxing. And was a very chaotic environment. Will NEVER return and would NEVER recommend. I'm sorry for posting this, but I just want to warn anyone who is considering to save your money, time, and risk of infection. read more
