We hope our review spares other consumers from an expensive disappointment. We checked the BBB, AZ…read moreROC, and reviews. After 5 bids, we chose Creative Pool Plastering (CPP) to resurface our pool. From day one, CPP was careless and lacked respect for our property. They crunched our downspout and damaged the pool deck, without apologizing or repairing. After job completion, March 20, 2025, they started refilling the pool before they left. They left debris in the skimmer, tire tracks on the driveway, and had not removed the sticker on the new drain cover, now under water. We had to call Mike Sr again, to have them return to finish cleaning up the site. Our expensive disappointment with CPP is the color quality and appearance of the new Mini Pebble Finish. During refilling, we noticed a blotchy appearance to the color of the newly refinished surface. Over the next few weeks, areas lacking color became larger and more prominent. April 28 we contacted Mike Sr about this issue. I have a picture, taken on April 29, clearly showing the loss of color on a large area of our pool bottom. Mike Sr did not come to see our pool until May 14. He said he saw the issue right away. He asked to see the recent Today's Pool and Patio Water Analysis that we had been doing weekly, since startup. The test results were within the recommended range. Mike Sr took a picture of these printed test results, said he would talk to his material supplier, Randy, with Universal White Cement company, and he'd get back to us. After 115 days, on September 6, we still had heard nothing and contacted Mike Sr again. Randy finally came to see the pool on September 22. After another 30 days, on October 22, we still had not heard back from Mike Sr. We contacted an attorney who advised us to give Mike Sr one more opportunity to remedy the color loss of our pool finish. We notified Mike Sr that we had spoken with an attorney. He immediately responded. This was the first time during the prolonged period of Mike Sr's inaction and lack of communication, from May14 until October 22, that he immediately responded. Mike Sr's response was that Randy's report claimed the pool chemicals were out of range on September 22. As we previously stated in this review, the documented water analysis shown to Mike Sr on May 14 was within normal range. Within 39 days of CPP's completed work, we saw many areas of inconsistencies in the pool's finish as evidenced in our pictures,. Rather than standing behind CPP's work and materials used, Mike Sr said he would schedule a "Courtesy Inspection" with the ROC. The ROC investigator, Lisa, was scheduled on December 22 and we received her findings on February 3, 2026. Lisa's findings acknowledged there are many areas where the pool finish is lighter in color. At the inspection, we showed Lisa the April 29 photo of the defective color of the pool finish. Lisa's findings stated she couldn't make a determination based on photos she did not take. Lisa told us that our pool chemistry reports would not be of benefit in her determination. The inspection only addresses the quality of workmanship, not the quality and durability of the materials they use. The findings state the ROC standards hold the contractor responsible for an acceptable pool finish for only 30 days from completion. Mike Sr never contacted us after the ROC inspection. We are left with an expensive disappointment. We do not recommend Creative Pool Plastering.

What impressed us the most was the responsive communication with Mike Jr. and Sr., who were highly attentive from the beginning. They answered all our questions promptly and with valuable knowledge. The entire team, from demolition to completion, was punctual, courteous, and diligent in cleaning up after their work. Our pool renovation turned out excellently! We have attached photos for reference. We selected Lakeside Mini Pebble with Key West Wave tile (NPT). Additionally, we had a new multi colored light installed, the blue color is shown at night. Other companies I spoke to wouldn't have made it out for at least 4-5 days later, one even wanted $100 more for the same job. He showed up on time, was friendly and knowledgeable. He even helped me with a couple other things too. I'll be in touch with him the next time I need anything repaired or diagnosed on my pool. I would definitely recommend.

Steve is noncommunicative, at best. He initially quoted us a monthly pool service rate for weekly…read moreservice. However, he increased our rate twice within the first three years of service without notice to us, or an explanation of why the monthly rate had increased. His website makes you think he runs a substantial operation, but his business is only a mom and pop shop consisting only of Steve and his wife (and sometimes a pool cleaner employee). He subcontracts out his pool remodel business, as he did with us, and some other services he claims to do. His website says he does tile cleaning to remove calcium stain buildup, but we've asked him on two occasions to clean our tile. He just says he can't do it, and leaves it up to us to clean as best we can (we are seniors in our 70's). In addition to this, last month he charged us $150 to clean our pool filter. He has never charged us for cleaning our pool filter before. It turns out in the four years we've used Steve, he has never cleaned our pool filter once until last month. What kind of pool service is this? Finally, Steve appears to have a problem retaining a pool cleaner employee. For almost two years, Steve and his wife cleaned our pool weekly themselves after their pool cleaner quit. Last November or December 2023 Steve was able to hire another employee to clean pools, but the employee did not show up the last week of December 2023. When we called about this, we were told he gave his employee off the week of Christmas 2023. This year, his employee did not show up this past week (November 2024). When we called about this, he now says he "gives" the employee off the week of Thanksgiving, the week of Christmas, and the day after New Years Day. We don't have a problem with Steve "giving" his employee time off, at times of his choosing, but he still charges us for the times his employee is off. So, in essence, Steve is trying to get his clients to pay for his generosity to his employee even though we give a generous Christmas bonus every year to whoever has been servicing our pool (including Steve and his wife when they serviced our pool). Due to the above issues, we have now dismissed Adobe Pools and Spa as our pool cleaning service. My advice to anyone considering hiring Adobe Pools and Spas, is to first get your agreement with Steve in writing, including monthly fees, what "services" are included, specific day(s) his employee is going to be "off", and how those days will be made up if you are charged for them.

The round spa is built next to the pool and would have been lovely except only half of the outside of the spa was tiled. Unfortunately the tiled side was the side facing the house behind us and the solid cement side was facing the house. It looked really ugly. When I asked the owner why he made that choice he said to save money. Of course, why did he choose to tile the side facing AWAY from the house? Initially I thought that wasn't too smart but then I realized maybe it was very smart because of course we had to pay them to tile the ugly cement side facing the house. Of course he didn't communicate any of this to us. 2. The steps into the pool and spa are very narrow and steep. I'm only in my 60s but it's already very difficult for me to get in and out of the spa and pool. At some point I am going to have to drain the pool and redo the steps. Will be very expensive. The owner is super nice though.

The owners of Pool Shack Robert (Joe) pressured me to pay in full prior to the completion of my…read more$4,000 plus final bill of additional work contracted. Unfortunately the Pool Shack owner was paid and you are reading the typical Phoenix contractor customer horror story because once my final PayPal payment went through, Pool Shack refused to stand by their work to leave the job site without setting up the new pump functioning or adding chemicals to our freshly filled pool water. Apparently Robert was upset because I didn't sign up for weekly pool service even though my request to try out their service prior to signing a year contract or by my final payment not completed in cash or by check as demanded. The owner claimed PayPal was not an option because they didn't have an account set up and instead insisted that I deliver a check or cash which wasn't possible since I was out of town however when I went to search on PayPal, I found the Pool Shack business account right away so I made my final payment out of trust and I was insured that the job was complete with the pool running with chemicals in full working order which it wasn't. Pool Shack took advantage of my trust for contracting more pool work and since the previous job was completed according to the work contracted, I had a comfort level that in my absence the pool would be in good standing upon my return. Pool shack knew the next weekly pool service wouldn't happen until a week from my payment but since this didn't happen the pool was found in dire straights which was discovered by our pool service with a total of 11 day's since new pool water was filled and after Pool Shack left the equipment powered off without chemicals. Needless to say and shown by my photo algae growth sets in quickly in triple digits with the above circumstances. Since extreme measures with shocking/pumping still didn't turn the situation around in time to prepare the home for vacation rental, we were forced to drain, acid wash and refill all over again. At the time I was too upset to write this honest review to warn other customers and I rely on real people sharing business reviews so I feel that this one is well overdue. Bottom line is that the owners of Pool Shack and their representatives aren't reputable nor do they run their business with integrity. This left me with an unfinished pool repair and much worse than the condition of the pool upon the start/completion of the job. The end result of the algae green pool completely negated the money spent on the freshly acid washed pool + fresh water fill by the men intentionally leaving the pool without a running pool pump or chemicals added upon leaving. I am a reasonable person with over 20 years of working with contractors and I would NOT recommend using Pool Shack for any pool repairs, electrical work or monthly pool service.

I hired the Pool Shack to turn my diving pool into a play pool and cover all of my concrete and…read morepool decking with travertine. They were the most expensive company that quoted out of 4 companies but I wasn't as concerned with price as I was quality and the timeliness of the project. I called Joe, one of the owners to go over the quote to understand the timeline of the project so I could make a decision on which contractor to choose. I asked Joe how long I could expect the project to take. He told me 5 days for the pool and 7-10 days for the travertine. I asked if there would be a gap between the two projects and he said not more than 3 days. I accepted with the expectation that they set that the project should be done in about 2 1/2 weeks. At 2 1/2 weeks my pool was still torn apart! I called Joe to discuss the situation and he blamed it on my husband that the pool was taking so long because he ordered a customer pool remodel, I reminded Joe that was what the bid was for and the bid was provided to me before he discussed the timeline and that the scope of work never changed so this was not my husbands that he couldn't blame it on my husband. He then went to blaming his subcontractors and that it was their fault because they weren't doing the job quick enough. Speaking of subcontractors - yeah, these guys never showed up when they were supposed, ever. It happened during the entire project, we would be told they would be out the next morning at 7, I would lock my dogs up and then be lucky if someone showed up at 3 pm if at all. The contractors would always say sorry, they were in Scottsdale or Cave Creek. I live in Glendale. I felt the entire time like their clients in the Scottsdale zipcodes were prioritized over us in Glendale. Once the pool was "done" I use this term losely because the pool is still not done 2 months later. The travertine contractors came out. Holy mess! They didn't protect anything I own and cut all of the travertine with a dry saw and then used a blower to blow it all over my yard, in my pool and in my neighbors yards. They didn't cover my thousands of dollars worth of outdoor furniture, didn't protect my artificial grass, didn't protect my gravel, in fact they dumped their waste buckets in my gravel and destroyed it. They delivered the wrong color travertine and tried to blame it on me. Seriously, I paid you as the contractor to deliver on what I purchased, it is not my fault that you ordered 7 pallets of the wrong color, didn't inspect your job and let your tile guy (who wasn't supposed to lay tile that day) start on the tile. A 10x10 section that they started by my backdoor had to be taken up and redone with the right color. They left the open pit of sand at my backdoor for over a week without covering it so my 3 dogs had no choice but to walk through sand to go in and out all day tracking sand all over my house. The owner had the audacity to say he'd done me a favor my not charging me to take up the wrong color becuse "I let his contractor put the wrong color down" Ummmm......if I wanted to GC this job myself I would have, and it would have been done right. On the initial visit the owner Joe told us that the travertine overlay was a thin vineer that wouldn't raise the concrete level more than 3/4 of an inch. This was very important to me because I did not want the level of my concrete raised 2-3 inches, this would leave an ugly exposed edge all around my patios and pool and would mean I would have to raise everything in my yard to match that level The travertine tiles themselves measure 1 ¼ inches thick, so ¾ is IMPOSSIBLE. I met with Rob and discussed this with him and he offered to put a tile edge around the 2-3" gap to give me at least a clean looking edge that I wouldn't see mortar oozing out. When it came time to deliver on that compromise and make up for the lie - THEY CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL 900.00! I was mortified and felt like I didn't have a choice, otherwise, I was going to look at this horrible 2-3" mortar gap all over my remodeled backyard that I just paid them almost $30,000.00 to do. I told him I would pay it but that I would be an incredibly unhappy client, he proceeded to charge me. I thought it was over, I was wrong. The mess they left - took my husband and me, 23 hours to clean up and pressure wash. the pool level dropped 3" over night. Oh my gosh! The owner Rob comes out to locate the leak and charges us 100.00 to locate. Says it is our pool skimmer MIP fitting. I pay 250.00 to dig it up and dry as a bone, Discovered that when their contractor moved the light they didn't use conduit to run the wire - I can't make this up - they used a SPLICED GARDEN HOSE AND RED DUCT TAPE instead of conduit so my pool has been leaking through there. They refuse to give me the pool I paid for and I have had to resort to the ROC and filing a lawsuit and/or insurance claim
