I really wanted to give this restaurant an outstanding review because I love supporting small businesses. The food is great but the restaurant is so poorly managed. I ordered take out and arrived at the restaurant one hour later when my food was supposed to be ready. I then waited at the restaurant for 1 hour and 35 minutes before my food was done. The owner (I think it was an owner?) kept telling me that my order "is on the rack" which meant it would be ready soon. I wish he had come clean with me from the beginning because I really didn't want to give up almost two hours of my life waiting for food. To top it off, when my food was ready, he then told me they were out of the shrimp appetizer so they would have to give me a credit. Don't count on these people. First time I ordered from them it took fifteen minutes to get through to them because apparently they only have one phone line. (What?!) The food was good enough for me to put up with that bs again. However I was calling them from 7 until 7:30 with the phone alternating between busy and no answer. Have never had a bad experience there! Tonight was beyond expectations! Diana was our waitress and she was just so friendly and accommodating and the service was exceptional! We got the fried brussel sprouts for app and it was sooo yummy. The risotto was super yummy too. My husband got a beer flight and they had a really good selection and he loved all the beers. A MIXED BAG The service wasn't great at first but got better in the end. Robin who was waiting on us didn't give us napkins or silverware. The moonshine whiskey cabernet is quite unique. It's a mix of a cabernet and a port. I liked the heavy notes of whisky. Is it worth $50 a bottle? Perhaps not. The bottle says 750 ML but it's really only 500ML. I took the bottle home and I measured it. This IMO is the worst offense. The beer selection is good and it's reasonably priced. I live close by that I want this place to succeed. I would come one more time just to see if things improve. If not, I am out. I wanted the fettuccine they were out of it. I am hoping it's because today was the first day and I hope things would improve. This place had a soft opening prior to today. We weren't greeted at the podium and the staff were looking at us like we got here accidentally Everything on the menu is sourced locally. The Rizotto is amazing. I am struggling with the review because it was truly a mixed bag. The service improved as the night went on. Josh, one of the co owners took care us of towards the end and this made things better. The food here was outstanding (fresh farm-to-table), the wine and cocktails were fantastic! I had a taste of my friend's beer and that was phenomenal as well. They offer a very nice drink menu. It's family-friendly and they have a kids menu. Fraggle Rock was playing on the projector screen. It doesn't get any better than that! The decor is rustic/industrial and it's so beautiful. Great atmosphere, super friendly and knowledgable staff, our food and drinks arrived quickly! The owners are local Moon residents which is pretty awesome too! This is by far one of the best restaurants and one of the best meals in Pittsburgh! I love that they are farm to table with a menu that changes and updates and keeps getting better! Their wine is absolute out of this world- dry wines that are unique to the area since their grapes are imported from California and South America. The service of the family run restaurant is also what keeps us coming back. They aim to please and we have never been disappointed by a wine or a drink at this amazing establishment!!! Been there twice and both experiences were terrible! The first time just my husband and I went on Sat night around 4:45. The 2nd time went with another couple, again in a Sat at 6:30. Both visits they were very short on staff. The greeter was running around doing many duties. Besides answering the phone and seating people, she was also cleaning tables, serving drinks to tables from the bar and taking food to peoples tables and Both visits there was only One bartender and she couldn't handle all the responsibilities she was trying to do which included, making all drinks for every table in the room and the seating in the bar area, serving people at the bar, stocking the bar and making trays to be sent to peoples orders. Of the alcohol drinks we ordered were made with "A pre mixture" and very little alcohol even though their prices were higher than normally charged at like places around the area. On our first visit, we waited 15 mins for our waitress to come to our table. Then we were only allowed to order drinks because she said she would have to come back. When she did return, it was another 10-15 mins later. First visit, they "ran out" of their pork chop special and their fingerling potatoes which are a regular side item on there menu. We ended up ordering 2 items from their regular menu (meatloaf & chicken) which didn't come to our table for another 50 minutes. Our waitress never returned to our table so we had to ask the greeter to get our check for us. Our 2nd visit, the four of us waited at the door for at least 10. mins for someone to come greet and seat us. Once seated, no one came to our table at all! After waiting for 35 mins we went to the bar and asked for someone to be our waitress/server which after another 20 mins someone came to take our orders. They were again out of their special for that day (steak) and the fingerling potatoes which are a reg menu item. The two of us that wanted the steak special instead ended up ordering their risotto with scallops. After waiting 50 mins, our food came to table, one of our risotto only had 2 scallops in It and the other one only had cut up pieces of a scallop which only were 4 small dime size pieces total! When we told our server they forgot the scallops in one of our dishes and other one only has 2 scallops in it, they took ONE of the dishes back with them, came back 10mins later with the SAME dish and said "the cook said he knows there are scallops in there so he went through this dish and put the 4 small cut up pieces on the top side of the dish"! I said we can agree to disagree because I paid for scallops to be in my risotto dish as stated on your reg menu and you are only giving me 4 small cut pieces which were no bigger than the size of a Lima bean! So I told her I am going to eat it and didn't want to pay for it and asked her to take the dish away. Side note observations: On our first and second visits, several other tables of people also were waiting a long time for a waitress/server, also had to ask for their check because no one came back and we also saw several dishes being sent back to the kitchen. read more

This is a hidden gem. Best kept secret. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. Their service was great. They have a great beer, wine and cocktail selection. It was the neat filet I ever had and the swordfish was amazing. The bruschetta appetizer was fresh and so good. If you are looking for a place to call you new favorite try it out!! You won't be disappointed. I wish I pensive taken a pic but I ate it way too fast. I love trying and supporting small and different privately owned restaurants and businesses. I will start this with the food and drinks are good. However, when I attempted to call and make our reservation no one answered. I called at least 3 times. So I resorted to email. It is the only close winery and local farm to table restaurant we were aware of so we really wanted to try it. They responded the next day and accepted our reservation this was great. No big deal. But they fail to mention when you make your reservation it is for a certain time slot only. I booked this dinner reservation for 6 girls for my bachelorette party so of course we were talking and drinking and taking our time. They informed us they had another reservation scheduled and we would need to leave. While I totally understand, it just would've been nice to have been made aware of this possibility when we made our reservation. So for the lack of communication when it came to their phones and lack of informing us of the possibility to be rushed due to another reservation I gave it 3/5. read more

Was really hoping to like this place, we heard it was hit or miss and gave it some time since it was new, but what a disappointment. Food was just okay. My husband ordered the special and he said it lacked flavor. Service was shaky at best. Small menu and not much of a variety and expensive Took awhile for our waitress to acknowledge us. While she had a great personality when we saw her. To get her to wait on us was another story. Not sure if we will give them another shot. Also the restaurant is very, very loud. After being told 50 minutes, we arrived on time and then waited another hour before getting our food. We got home and our orders were wrong and mine was missing half the meal. This is the third time I've been to this restaurant and this has been the worst experience, mostly due to service and food. Food. For apps we ordered all 4 of the app skewers (vegetable, shrimp, steak chicken). All I can comment on is: 1) We were not asked how we like the steak cooked, and 2) We only tasted the shrimp because these appetizers came out after our entree! More on this later. For entree I ordered the mushroom risotto. The flavor was pretty good with the mushrooms and mascarpone but the risotto was a bit on the al dente side. Another in our party ordered the steak salad which tasted decent. Nothing earth shattering about it, your typical greens, steak, and balsamic. Another ordered salmon on top of cold quinoa. The piece of salmon was so small - not worth the price of the dish - that the harmony did not work with the quinoa (side note: another table of ordered the salmon and their piece was double). The combination wouldn't work even if the portions were balanced between hot salmon and cold quinoa. As a side we shared fingerlings, which were good. It was seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Service. HORRIBLE...for about 75% of the time. Here's the 75% part: When we sat we waited for about 15 minutes with no acknowledgement from the server. We went to go ask the hostess who our server is. She advised and we sat for another 5 minutes with no sign of her coming. Finally she came with water for the table and asked if we wanted drinks but no apology for the wait. Having sat there for about 25 minutes already we knew what we wanted to order to eat. As mentioned above, we ordered the skewers for appetizers but it did not come until after our entrees (after we finished it). We had to ask about it, to which we were informed they fired it but yet it still was not received in 20 mins (allegedly the kitchen was backed up for a 75% full dining room). So we asked again. Here's the 25% part: After realizing the skewers had not come out, the server was more attentive and apologetic as well as the hostess (unsure if she was the manager also). They informed us that we will receive a discount off our meals, which was obliged. So they did TRY to do right by us but in my opinion the skewers should have been on the house since they came at "dessert" time (aka when we were done with our entrees). Ambience. Moderate noise level. Decor was rustic. Atmosphere was laid back - bring a group, bring your kids, etc. read more

Nice place, great looking room put together using a ton of re-purposed stuff. Casual atmosphere. The staff were all very nice. The menu is a little limited, but creative. I had a great burger... the FTP (I think it was called). The pepper relish and bacon on it was really good. The fried smashed potatoes were really good as well. My only nit-pick would be that the mule I had to drink was a little on the small side when you take into account the amazingly large single ice cube that was in the...glass. First time at Four Twelve because it's in our area. We had the fried Brussels sprouts which were delicious and fried zucchini which was good. Of course, anything deep fried is usually pretty good. Didn't order anything fancy for dinner - just two burgers. We were asked if we wanted it, "pink" or "no pink." Since we like our burgers medium rare, we ordered pink. Both burgers were overcooked. Not happy. If I'm paying $13-$15 for a burger, I want it cooked to my preference. Service for drinks and food was pretty slow, but they were also super busy. May give it another try at some point but, unfortunately, not real eager to go back. read more

We had a date night dinner here with reservations. We were greeted by the hostess, I said we have reservations. When I asked for a booth for 4 people the hostess said no you have assigned seating. When we got seated the waitress was nice but pushy asking us to order multiple times. We were waiting 5 minutes for our friends to join us and I said we didn't want to order yet and be rude. She kept pushing so we got an app. Once our friends arrived, she immediately asked for us to order. It was 545 for a 530 reservation so we said we need more time. The second time she came back she told us we needed to hurry up because they needed to turn this table over for the next reservation. HUH?!?! OK so we ordered our Filets and the food was good even though one of the 4 orders was wrong. By the time we were ready for dessert we were being rushed out for the next "appointment " aka reservation. Also being wine lovers, we ordered a bottle of 1 of the only 4 wines on the menu and they were out. So we had to order by the glass.....at a winery. Also they didnt give us a wine glass and we asked, wine glasses were only for people who buy a bottle. Ugh, okay! Do not reccomend wasting time and money here. Overall bad experience read more
