Dry almost burnt
Sandra W.

It's been a few years since coming to the four seas, hubby and I decided to take a two hours trip to see how it is after so long. The four seas super buffet is located in Baxter, Mn in a strip mall, with easy access. We walked in right before 12 pm (lunch) into a very large area with lots of seating, buffet is located in the back. Noticed right away that the floors are cracking and breaking up and black runner mats were very very worn in bad need of replacement. Tables/chairs were clean, floor not so much. Bathrooms were also clean. Some of the buffet seemed to be in major need of attention. Workers/owners did not seem to be as caring about their place like they had the last few time we were here, service was good, quickly seated and were giving our drinks, our plates were quick to be cleared, had to ask for refills on our drinks and the waitresses just didn't seem as friendly. The food, awww the food, general tso was mostly liquid along with another chicken. Garlic green beans were very good, dumplings were crispy and dry, I did like them, but most wouldn't. My fake crab casserole with cheese was very dry and actually almost burnt, but I will admit I did still kind of liked it as well. But clearly it was not good. The stuffed mushroom were a little on the over toasted side, salmon was picked on from both ends with a small piece left, other dishes were equally not appealing, they had two kinds of noodles and they were good, pepper steak that was the best we ever had, it was that good, big slices of perfectly cooked bell peppers and thick slices of tender meat in a flavorful sauce. Also good was the fresh seafood medley. They had salt and pepper shrimp that were not the salt and pepper shrimp I've had, but very good as well. Chicken on a stick and Mussels were over cooked to the point they were getting dry on the inside, onion rings were real good, stuffed seafood balls were real good, I think, not sure what they make them with but have the fake texture of the crab sticks, rolled up and lightly battered with a little crab claw sticking out of the end. Yummm, broccoli in the chicken was very good, they had very large slices of zucchini and other veggies in which I thought was as tasty as well. We never realized the sushi station was open at lunch, when we had gone there other times before Covid didn't have this option till dinner, so can't tell you about that, maybe next time, if we go back, finished up the meal with strawberry ice cream that was good and hubby had the sesame, bean paste balls(which are his favorite), said they were good on one side but hard as rock on the other. Will we be back? Will we make a point to drive 2 hours just for seas super buffet again, I doubt it especially with so many other Asian places that are as good or if not better, if we're in the area, maybe and see if they picked themselves back up again. Sad to see that it had gone down hill. For this I changed from five star to three star rating.

House Fried Rice
Rainbow C.

Haven't been to the buffet in years. However, when I've ordered takeout food, Four Seas has never disappointed. Tonight we had the house fried rice and it's some of the best I've had. Shrimp were big, and the meat was plentiful, barbecue charred pork. It was the bomb and I will be getting it again and who wouldn't for under $10 even better.

Manual price changes, but quality of food is still 1 out of 10 stars.

My history with this establishment is a masterclass in disappointment, a decade-spanning saga of…read moredishonesty that I feel compelled to share. It began years ago on a Mother's Day, a celebration with my entire family--my wife, our four kids, and my mother. While the rest of us ordered from the menu, my mother opted for the buffet. The meal itself was a preview of the incompetence to come: reheated food with that distinct microwave sogginess and a pervasive smell of harsh chemical cleaner that clung to the takeout containers we requested for leftovers. The most memorable moment was when my youngest, barely a year old, nibbled on one of my mother's buffet donuts, and the owner's son, about seven at the time, ran screaming toward the kitchen--a foreshadowing of the chaos this place inspires. The true spectacle arrived with the bill. Not only had they charged us for our menu items, but they had the audacity to charge all six of us, including the children, for the adult buffet. When questioned, the staff who had perfectly understood our complex order suddenly couldn't speak a word of English. We told them exactly what we thought of their scam by never returning. A decade later, my son, nostalgic for a childhood he's misremembered, begged to celebrate a chess victory there. Reluctantly, I agreed. While he was away from the table, the lady owner accosted me at the booth, demanding to know why we'd been absent for so long. I looked her dead in the eye and said, "It's prime supper time on a Friday night, and you have two customers. We told you we didn't like being ripped off; we told you with our feet." Now, with that son grown and moved out, I made the fatal mistake of giving them one final chance. Some things never change. The food was as mediocre as ever, but the audacity had been refined into an art form. I was billed for sixteen wontons and received a paltry four. When I called to rectify the mistake, the same delivery service they proudly advertise suddenly became unavailable. They can deliver your food, but they can never, ever deliver on their promises. A perfect record of failure spanning ten years is almost impressive. Save your money and your dignity; this is a place that sees customers not as guests, but as marks.
