Bottom Line: Nice staff & clean pleasant premises, but food was only so-so in diminutive portions. Top Line: Iced tea that was quickly delivered to table was of the ordinary powdered Lipton version, albeit served in a prettier than usual glass. Chicken gumbo was a cup of decent chicken rice soup. But I'd be hard pressed to call it gumbo. It lacked any spicing that spoke Cajun dialect or infused the broth with any breath of heat. On the good side, there were plenty of little chunks of chicken breast in the soup, along with the veg & rice compadres. Cajun chicken was likewise culinarily defused, perhaps an accomodationary gringofication to the notoriously genteel Midwestern palates. Again, there was little indication that your culinary journey had taken you anywhere south of about Des Moines, Iowa. The supplied tiny cup of BBQ sauce helped the pale flavor profile immensely. The sandwich's tiny portion size barely rose to more than a slightly oversize slider. Demerit also awarded for dressing the sandwich with nothing more than a spattering of shredded lettuce. Good news being that the brioche bun was nicely butter toasted from the kitchen. But it speaks volumes when the bread is the star component of a sandwich. Price of admission for the undersized meal was a couple bucks shy of a twenty after tax. Which puts a strain on the value ratio calculation. Decor was pleasant and waitress was efficient and sweet in the midst of a hectic lunch crunch. Seating was full when I arrived and was still pretty packed when lunch time faded. We love Ganleys. The servers are wonderful. But we stopped going there. Its a price thing. Omelette. One piece of toast. 14$. Hashbrowns 2.50$. Two pancakes. 10$. Two coffees $6. We split for two. Thats $32.50 Down 371 there are a couple of terrific diners. Omelette. Two pancakes. Hashbrowns. $13.50. Two coffees (good coffees). $6. Thats 19.50$ how do you defend the difference? This was such a disappointing experience, unfortunately. The service was terrible, our orders were incorrectly prepared and cold, and the water genuinely tasted like rusted pennies. To the point where both my friend and I were concerned with drinking it. I wanted to like this place as it's a cute local joint, but we had a very disappointing time. read more

I want to love this place because of the great location in Nisswa, but I've come to the sad realization it's just not good. We have come here at least once a summer for the last 20-30 years. I've decided after today we won't be back. I've never enjoyed the food here, but today it was truly disgusting. I ordered the pork sandwich and it was terrible. The pork was fatty and greasy. I couldn't eat more than one bite. The French fries were greasy and tasteless. Gross. We paid for our food and went home and ate because our food was literally inedible. If you want to eat in Nisswa skip this place and go to Main Street instead. The food is significantly better. read more

This is a delicious place to get breakfast all day. The location is great - I really like the outdoor seating. The service is kind of slow but they make up for it with the delicious food. The eggs are thick and fluffy, the pancakes are also fluffy and crispy (I like my pancakes more on the burnt side and they do that here!). Completely average small town diner. Food was decent- not bad, not excellent. Prices are reasonable and the portions are fair. My only gripe is the cash or check only policy. That being said, many of the stores in the area ask for cash over card anyway. read more

Stopped in Nisswa for some breakfast before heading back from an amazing week on Gull lake. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The location is perfect. The addition of outside seating is a great option for warm summer days. We had a variety of breakfast options ( French toast, omelets, scrambled eggs) all were fantastic as were the hash-browns. Even though they were very busy, they kept the coffee cups full of hot coffee and kept checking to see if we needed anything else. Overall a great breakfast stop. Looking over the menu it appears a great place to stop for any meal when in Nisswa or even just passing through. read more

Service was disappointing.... ordered a burger and fries with a slice of onion. No onion received. A bit gruff waitress. Never asked if the meal was acceptable but it was dropped in front of me and then she went back to talking to the other waitress. At check-out I find it's a cash-only restaurant. Some people think this place uses too much butter. I'm not sure "too much butter" is even a real thing, but the butter usage here did not seem particularly excessive. Ate breakfast here both Saturday and Sunday and it was solid greasy breakfast fare. Decent coffee, but not as good as the Stonehouse around the corner. I'll go back. read more

Let's be honest, the service wasn't great. I came in for lunch with a bunch of my girlfriends on our way through. It was the middle of the week when nobody else was around, and the waitress seemed pretty put out that we were there. With that said, the food was really good, and my friends raved about the pickles that came with their sandwiches for DAYS. I ordered the patty melt, and it was like no other patty melt I've ever had. In addition to all the regular ingredients, there were also green and red bell peppers sauteed with the onions. It was sooooo good! This is a quaint little diner in the heart of Nisswa that has tons of history. Despite moving out the bar-seating to make more room for booths, it remains mostly unchanged - including the fact they are cash/check only. The staff are young girls from town and though they are kind, there is no haste to get you your meal - expect some wait as there is usually a slow manner to all here. The food is your average greasy diner food and nothing 'amazing' but the prices are cheap and the people watching is great. You can sit outside or in and the place is usually clean. As diners go, I give it a four, but have to give it a five to offset Mr. Gluten free who doesn't think they have "healthy options" and is upset because they don't have fresh cracked pepper... Buffy, harumph, harumph. Anyways, if you like a good diner atmosphere, this place is for you. Just what I expected. Had biscuits and gravy on special and they were above average. Bacon is good as others have said. Go eat a cage free "you know what" Nick. I waited tables in college, and we could see jerks like you coming a mile away, which is probably why the waitress didn't pay you any mind. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! My oldest son (6 years) has a severe egg allergy. He wanted cotton candy ice cream so I asked if they could check if eggs are used in that kind. The owner, Luke, had his employee tell me "all ice cream has eggs". This is a flat out lie. Luke was too lazy to check for himself and took the easy way out. When I asked to speak to him his employee went to get him. She came back and said "Luke told me he is too busy to talk to you and can not leave the kitchen". Luke had her tell me if I want to talk to him I need to go back to the kitchen. So I did. I asked a worker for Luke and he came over to me and said "what do you want, you better make it quick because I am really busy". Really...who talks to people like that. He kept raising his voice and told me he doesn't have time to look at ingredients to make sure a kid with allergies can eat there. I looked at him and said "buddy, you are an a**hole". He replied and said "yes, I am an a**hole". After that I walked away to cool off. I couldn't believe it. I have never in my life met someone so temperamental. I feel sorry for all of his employees. No one should have to work for someone like that. Turns out even after I walked away he came outside looking for me. Not sure why, but he screamed at my wife and she made him get back in the kitchen. The girls working in the ice cream shop were great. For the record, the ice cream did NOT have eggs. read more
