What a delightful addition to the area! I needed a place to take the kids while the Mr. was out golfing. We decided to try a place off the lakes to avoid crowds. This place is off the beaten path in Jenkins and fit the bill. The service was super fast and friendly. It's sort of a "Panera" setup where you order with a person or at a kiosk then they deliver food and drinks to your table. I had some customizations to make for the kids and everything came out correctly. The bread is incredible! The meats, toppings, flavors - everything is delicious. Even the white queso was some of the best I've had with nice chunks of green chiles. It's *really hard* to make all 3 of my kids happy at the same restaurant and this one nailed it. Our first visit to Shiners. Pretty cool place. Order at the counter kiosk and you get a text when your food is ready. We had the whole Santa Fe Chicken sub and Thai Chicken salad. First I need to say that I love anyone who invested in their place during COVID, and these guys did. This is a cool, industrial looking neighborhood spot. They have some interesting drinks, (including a nice spicy mule) and a full bar. You order your food at a kiosk, which works well. We have tried a couple of there salads (the Thai version is tasty, but ask for light dressing). The burgers are all good, and I like each sandwich I have had here. Don't expect fancy food, but plan on having well made twists in the food that so many places around here serve. read more

My friend and I stopped in Jenkins for a meeting and decided to check out Shiners afterward before we drove back to Chicago. The building is new and very clean. We were greeted warmly and with good information about the food options and prices when we asked (the prices are not displayed). Of several recommendations, I tried the 6" Italian sub and my buddy got the pulled pork. It was almost 3:30pm, and not very busy between lunch and dinner. Our food came out hot and fast, to go. We added napkins to the bag and strolled out to our car. My sandwich was hearty, tasty and not too messy. It hit the spot. My buddy said his sandwich maybe was the best sandwich he had eaten in over ten years at least. He suggested that we had to leave a review, because it was sooooo good. I agree and here we are. SHINERS is worth the stop. The pulled pork with the apples and red cabbage with their own BBQ sauce (I think the very courteous gal said it was a "sweet" styled bbq sauce, rather than a spicy or bold bbq) was unique and and greatly satisfying with every bite. I would bet money, if my buddy is ever back in the Northwoods, he'd make a special point to get that sandwich again. Sorry, we ate em instead of photographed 'em. What a great place! Wonderful service, great food and ambiance was fun and inviting. I came with a large group (including little kids!) and they accommodated us right away - plus it's across the street from a great outdoor playground with picnic tables! Some items we tried include the Santa Fe chicken salad, Thai chicken salad, the Havana, the soups, and the quesadillas. Love that it's self-service. We will be back! read more

The food was incredible!!! Excellent flavor and plenty of options. This was our first time visiting and we are already planning our next! The staff was friendly and helpful, and very quick and efficient. We were impressed by the atmosphere, the decor, and the seating (those giant booths! Wow!). We ate in and paid when we ordered. Everything was brought out in to-go containers so we were able to pack up and leave as soon as we were done eating. We got the queso dip appetizer and we were thrilled to receive a large bag of chips and the dip already in a container with a lid since the dip is to die for and we knew just by the smell that we'd want to take that home with us! The pulled pork was incredible, and my spouse quite enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch as well. This place is a must-try, for sure! read more

We drove 30 minutes to come eat there at 9:15pm... on the website AND their doors it said that they were open until 11pm... then when we got there there were still employees inside but the door was locked... we called and they said they decided to close early because it was a slow night. We've been there a few times, all dine in . The large sandwich is plenty for 2 people! We enjoyed the Havana(cuban), chips and a soft drink. Great ingredients and the bread was fresh. If inclined, try one of the soups- chicken wild rice, tomato Gouda, or the daily special. Very good! The place is very clean and comfortable.
