The retro diner setup had us expecting classic oldies, maybe a jukebox, and a little more nostalgia, but that part never quite showed up. The customer service was genuinely great and almost earned this place a fourth star. Unfortunately, the food was just average across the board. Nothing bad, just nothing memorable enough to bring us back for a second visit. If you're already in the area and craving diner food, it'll do the trick. I'm glad my husband held out for driving farther for breakfast while we were up here for the weekend at Breezy Point. He remembered eating here on an earlier trip. On a weekend trip to Nisswa we stopped at this Diner for an early dinner. We weren't sure what the resort options would be and wanted to take advantage of the Diner experience of the old school feel, which is rare and unique. We entered and got promptly greeted and seated. I love breakfast food so knew I wanted to indulge in some buttermilk pancakes and a veggie omelet. My partner chose the patty melt. Everything was solid. The food and service were good. We had so much to eat when our waitress offered us dessert I had to pass and ask for to go packages. I definitely wanted a milkshake but I had no room. Maybe next time I'll just get a milkshake and fulfill that craving. read more

I have been eating here for probably at least 15 years. New management and new cooks and servers several years ago we added. The best home cooked food in Baxter, Minnesota. The owner runs a tight. Ship keeps the place clean. The servers are friendly. Very professional they know the menu. The cooks are amazing. I'm very picky of all my omelettes. I usually get a ham and cheese and mushroom omelette. And other restaurants, the ham is cut up so small you can hardly see it, but these omelettes have the bigger slices of ham and the omelettes are huge awesome malts the desserts. The banana split and all the pies are just wonderful. I've looked at a lot of of these reviews from several years back. But I've never had a bad meal here. The portions are very large and the cost is appropriate for the meals. I like the hot turkey or the hot meatloaf is really excellent. Cathy and Adrian are two of the awesome waitresses. Plus there's several more, but I can't remember their names. Every time I go in for breakfast the omelette is just huge. The wonderful variety of pies my favorite is the Forest, which has different kinds of berries in it and the other one is. Blueberry, which is just out of this world. A bunch of us Veterans meet on Thursday morning about 10 or 12 of us and we get free coffee plus we get a discount for being veterans. I can't say enough about this restaurant. It's just wonderful. Great for the family they have color crayons and a paper car that they put together for the kids. The best part is they're open from 6:30 in the morning till 8 PM at night seven days a week. Serve breakfast all day. A few things like maybe oatmeal or a few other things they only serve up until maybe 11 AM but the portions on all the food is just huge. Been here twice over the last couple years. So this review is long overdue. Our visits were the usual late lunch early dinner while on the road type of deal. So we were here during the not-so-busy time of the day. The service was excellent on both occasions. Staff were friendly and quick. Food about par for the course, for what one can expect at a small town diner. Serving sizes are huge! Stopped here for lunch after a business trip visit. I'm a sucker for home made soups and pies. I tried the chili and it was really good. It was hearty and tasted like it was well developed. It wasn't too tomatoey such as pastes or sauce. It had a lot of meat and beans it wasn't too oily either. I got a chocolate pie which was good. Fresh and fluffy. The caramel roll was ok. The problem is you gotta eat it all on the first day. Don't let it sit or wait more than that. Share with a friend if you have to. I also got the sandwich of the day which was chicken jalapeño and cheese. If I would have known the jalapeños would have been chopped up like a relish I wouldn't have gotten it. It wasn't my cup of tea. I re gifted the sandwich and it was enjoyed. I was told they would eat it again. I recommend stopping here for some really good chili and friendly service. read more

I think the appeal to this place is the 50's decor because the food is not great. As a diner, it's pretty hard to mess up a patty melt yet somehow it was bland, unseasoned and slightly burnt. They microwave your food right in front of you before serving it. Not expecting Gordon Ramsay level food from a diner but would appreciate not watching my meal come directly out of the microwave and onto my table. Overall not a horrible place to eat but not impressive either. read more

Saw this on Yelp and it was right by our hotel so we stopped for lunch. This place is so cute and vintage! You don't see many of these around anymore. The decor was fitting and interesting to read. Love all the old car stuff. Our waitress was very nice and helped us decide what to eat which was delicious. Texas burger on sourdough with fries and the kids got cheese burgers. Family of ate for 35 dollars. They gave the kids to go boxes that looked like old cars and trucks which was cute. Overall great diner. read more

Old school diner. We had breakfast mid Sunday AM. We ordered the Denver skillet, bacon, and half biscuits and gravy. Skillet was huge! It came with 2 eggs on top. Hashbrowns not very crispy, but overall good flavor. The biscuits were perfect size and not too doughy. The sauauge gravy was a little light on the sausage but had good flavor. Good food, friendly staff. Burgers are hand made, done on a flattop grill with great flavor. Chili is good, and filling. Roast beef sandwich is generous, with good flavor. Pies, cheesecake, other temptations for dessert, and they have malts in a string of flavors. Even when they're slammed, like right after the Big Reopen, staff is helpful and friendly, and will explain what the soup of the day is made of. And, when you get the crispy chicken sandwich, it arrives hot, crispy, and tastes like chicken.
