The eggs and bacon appetizer was awesome! The brussel sprouts were delicious and we loved the samosas. The wait staff was very attentive and efficient. Everybody was so very nice! We sat on the second floor which was really new for us since we usually just end up sitting at the bar. However, the lighting upstairs made it extremely difficult to read the menus or see our delicious food. Every table had to at least once use a cell phone light to read the wine list or menus. It put an annoying cloud over an otherwise great evening. Ambient candlelight is beautiful but to the extent that the darkness overtook that second floor room was very disappointing. read more

This place is key. The inside out burger is in my top ten burgers of all time (I'm from nyc originally). The ambiance is cool, the staff is relatively chill and attentive and the drinks are creative. Other highlights are the 24 hour short rib and the short rib Reuben. Also, always sub fries for the yucca fries, they're dope. Brunch at this place is amazing as well. It's a staple for my crew and I. In season try to sit outside, great view of the river and the sound of running water is always nice. The soundtrack they have playing is always clutch. Love this place. read more

Love this place! Great atmosphere, great food and the bathrooms are clean. I gave not a full 5 stars because the service is a bit slow and upstairs it's super dark! The couple next to us had to use their phone's flashlight to read the menu it was so dark. I get what they're going for but it's needs a little brightening. Great interior design even down to the little details. Food is excellent but the portion sizes are questionable, we ordered nachos and it was so large that we didn't need to order a meal. Excited for the outdoor seating come spring! read more

What a wonderful place! We had a family gathering here, and the experience was so lovely. The food was delicious, the staff were attentive and professional, and the setting was so pretty. There is a really beautiful babbling brook behind the restaurant, and the building itself is historical. Can't wait to come back. read more

Food is overpriced and of poor quality. Service was also very slow. Ordered multiple beers off their beer menu just for the waitress to continue to come back saying it was out. My friend got the snapper and could barely eat it. Not worth the money. read more

The Foundry has the potential to be a great venue to be with friends, have drinks, and have dinner. When we arrived, the hostess seemed confused and disheveled. We gave our name for a patio table and went to the bar for a cocktail to wait. The bar service was good. Once we were seated on the patio, the table was severely uneven so we moved to another table. Trying to get napkins and table settings at the new table was a challenge (we had to get up and get our own) as was getting a drink and prompt service of food. When we got our food, it was good and priced fairly. Moderately disappointed with The Foundry because the location is very nice, the restaurant atmosphere and building is nice but the service is underwhelming and disappointing. We will try it again with the hopes that tonight was a one-off. read more

If you do nothing else in your life you need to come here a have the Pretzel Crusted Tuna. The portion is a bit small , but so good. Just order 2 !! read more

My wife and I originally came to Newtown to eat at another local establishment but comming down church hill road we noticed the lights on their back deck and said what the hell "lets try it" We are so glad we did :-) From the greating we received when we arive right down to the to the delicious food . Great Dinning experience! !! We are now fans!!! P.S....Have the Pork Chop you Won't be Sorry. read more

I enjoyed very much! Great presentation, service, very engaged staff, loved the outdoor deck overlooking the Pootatuck river . Nice meal on an early Sunday evening at 4pm. I'll be back with the family. read more

Foundry Kitchen and Tavern - Very impressed! I'll be back! Excellent service! Food beautifully prepared and superb presentation. - New American Near Me - Sandy Hook, Connecticut

I've been there a handful of times, drinks are great and well executed, servers and bartenders are friendly and professional and I have yet to eat anything there that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. Also great location and atmosphere and fair prices. read more

Love, love. 2nd visit and it didn't disappoint. Had stuffed zucchini flowers to start and then a perfectly cooked swordfish for dinner. He had the small steak. We were scraping our dishes to more of the sauces. We'll be back. read more

Atmosphere and service were great. Food is another matter. Nachos were made with what tasted like Velveeta cheese. Tasted like liquid American cheese. The $26 veal short ribs were pure fat. These were sent back for refund. Server said veal ribs are normally like that, but I call this BS. We did not get bread like other tables. On the bright side, fish tacos were very flavorful. Won't come here again. read more

A beautiful setting, but my corned beef Reuben was inedible. There was so much fat on the corned beef that by the time I cut it all off, there was barely half a sandwich worth of meat. The bread was burnt toast. Fries were very good. I should have sent the sandwich back. For 17.00, It was a very disappointing meal. read more

A lovely setting, they have really fixed up the place. The outdoor seating has a nice view but the traffic noise is pretty high, conversation was difficult. Also, the outdoor seating, at least in the part of the deck where we were, wasn't very comfortable. The noise and poor seating discouraged us from lingering and chatting. The menu is varied and interesting. The food's presentation was great. However, the flavor was bland. read more

The Wife & I had brunch for the first time & what a pleasant surprise! Not your regular brunch kind of place. The diversity of the menu, the drinks, the service, all on point! & the home fries??!?!?! Its like the added culinary crack to them! We couldn't get enough. She had the bloody mary with bacon (amazing), I had the mimosas in more than one flavor! Looks like we will be going back again this week! read more

Love the Foundry. One of my go to spots! I'm a big fan of the sandwich's that they have and their beer list is always featuring new and rare beers. Really can't beat the back deck either. I've also been to a couple of events on the top floor and every time the staff is very accommodating. There's nothing bad to say about the foundry from the decor to the food and drinks to the staff every time I go it's a blast! read more

Always a good place to eat. This village needed a little place like this. It's got a good menu, mostly conscious ingredients with a tiny bit more of upscale palette than you would find in the area. Plates come with a homey presentation sometimes on boards which is fun. Cocktail menu always has good options. Vegetarians beware, most things have meat. There is a vegetarian chili that is really good though! read more

Went back this last Saturday night and although the food was what was expected and the wait staff chipped in nicely it wasn't as good experience that I had before. I started with a bourbon on rocks, the ice must have been "wet" and severely watered down the drink. To me that is something that needs to be fixed. This place does try hard, I had the hamburger that I ordered medium, it came out medium rare. My wife had burger too ordered medium well and came out medium rare. Not a huge deal as the meat was fresh and tasty. Just a few little things that made me "downgrade" from my last visit. Given all this I would go back again, have a drink and listen to music on a Saturday night. read more

Had the most amazing dinner at the foundry. My husband had the salmon and said it was one of the best pieces that he's had ever. I had the fish tacos. Yum! So good but could only eat half of it. Will enjoy the rest tomorrow night. Service was great, the place has a great vibe to it. Loved it and will be back!! read more

I had been wanting to try this place out for a while and I'm so glad I finally did. My partner and I went for dinner and everything was just delicious. Loved the atmosphere.. we sat on the back deck since the weather was so nice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. If you're in the area I highly recommend this gem!! read more

An all around great restaurant! Different menu choices, great drinks, and friendly staff. I go to The Foundry often, and have never been disappointed. Casual atmosphere and perfect if you want good music, pretty surroundings and a plate of something that's not 'run of the mill.' Highly recommended! read more

Amazing Salads, delicious entrees..and we love the selection of drinks. The staff is always so friendly and they are so attentive with service. We go at least one a month and usually sit out back on the lovely patio!! read more

Great meal, great service. I'm a bit of an annoying patron, being vegan and gluten free, but the server was happy to accommodate my needs and my meal was delicious. I also have two little boys- 3.5 yrs and almost 2. Very family friendly place. Will definitely be back! read more

Great location, super cute. However, I felt like my family and I were being racially profiled... not being waited on efficiently... it took 20 minutes for our bottle of wine. The male manager went up to every table asking how everything was, but ignored us. No Black workers. DONT GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO BE PROFILED. read more

Had THE best meal in the loft at Foundry. Started with a 'Maui Mule' cocktail which was such a refreshing surprise. The beet and burrata salad was out of this world. The scallops were delicious and done perfectly. Fabulous and friendly service by Lauren was the icing on the cake! Bravo! read more

The menu selection was not favorable. The choices would definitely not be desirable to everyone. The menu was VERY overpriced- $30 for my dish which was oily spaghetti squash with 3 scallops... THREE. I questioned if the scallops were fully cooked. The atmosphere was nice, we sat upstairs and the drinks and appetizers were good. I would go back for Drinks and Apps... that's all. read more

This place has a nice vibe, decent selection and variety of everything from drinks to food. Had the inside out burger recommended by the bartender. Very juicy, tender and delicious. Good find right in the heart of Sandy Hook! read more

Great place! I've been here twice. The fish tacos taste great. I don't like the yucca fries but you should try them. The place is on the small side so try to get there early. I did eat lunch there once and it was empty. The design is nice. Give it a try. read more

Arrived in area eve before Elephant's Trunk flea market and found this spot for dinner. It was delish! Inventive farm to table inspired menu. We enjoyed the daily special mussels appetizers and each followed with the amazing fish tacos and yucca fries. Both had complex fresh and light flavors yet were incredibly filling. I also enjoyed their Orange You Bananas martini which was a nice blend of sweet and tart and strong :). Cute setting & decor. Acti r bar downstairs with love music, more serene dining upstairs. Service was charming and professional. The only thing I would change would be the seating in the upstairs by bar area, our table was floating in the middle of the room making it feel a bit exposed and awkward. I'd add tables or decor (maybe even floor to ceiling draping) to make that open space more intimate or cozy. Highly recommend. The entire menu looked terrific with something for everyone. When the weather is nice the patio will be amazing. read more

We love the Foundry. Everyone who waited on us was so friendly, from the hostess, the bartender, the manager to the waiter. We were a group of six and this was our first time there. We all loved the food and the vibe of the restaurant. The night we were there they had life music and she was great. It was a fun night for all. I love that the restaurant has outdoor seating right next to this beautiful river that runs through the property. We would love to experience that next time as we will definitely be back. read more

Food was decent and they have some decent beer on tap. Need to try again to give a more accurate review... Guess I'm spoiled by NYC fare.

Hands down, one of the best! Loved it so much , we cooked up a reason to be back in the area (from no. N.Milford), and returned the next weekend! read more

Lunch is good, especially overlooking the rapids. Ambiance is nice and food is perfect. Service was good.

Went here with my girlfriend a few months ago. Great food & really nice atmosphere. We grabbed a quick dinner on a weeknight and it was pretty busy. Good service. read more

We have been to the Foundry many many times over the years...ownership has changed from time to time. Quality seems to go up and down. Love the ambience both inside and outside. Wait staff has always been fairly good. Last night I ordered an entree salad with shrimp (extra 8.00).....served in a fairly small bowl with 3 small to med size shrimp! That seems pretty weak to me. Menu selection is limited. Would love to see this place do better!! Right now, it's off our list. read more

I have no idea how the food is here because after sitting for almost 20 minutes being ignored (after complaining to the hostess) we left. I cannot remember ever experiencing anything like this anywhere at any time. After we complained about this a waitress came over and poured us water. That was it. Restaurant wasn't busy at all, it was a Sunday early evening. The excuse was that our waitress was in training and was stressed out. Well so was I by the time we decided we had enough and left. read more

Came here for sunday brunch earlier. The ambience is really great. The service was wonderful too. I unfortunately wasn't too thrilled with the menu. I guess i'm kind of boring and also don't eat seafood or duck so that limited me. I settled on the spanish omelette which was very good! It's pricey though, 15 dollars for an omelette! But I don't mind sense it was so tasty. Also enjoyed the ballpark bloody marry. But highlight of my meal was their blondie sundae. Probably the best i've ever had!! read more

I really wanted to like it. The place is so close to our home. But it's really just very average food- overpriced The service is friendly and the waiter was attentive. The ambiance is cozy. My wine was good. It's just the food (and we've been there three times and had several dishes) is just sub par. For the same amount of money you can go down the street to Figs. The food is no comparison. read more

This place is amazing ! Great food, nice place and the waitresses are very helpful. This is my favorite place in Newtown
