It was a nice fall weekend day and we wanted someplace with an outdoor section for a late lunch and Yelp recommended Notch8. We're so happy we took the suggestion because we had a great lunch and overall wonderful afternoon here. The patio was so nice in the sun. Kimmy was our server and she was amazing. She really elevated the experience. The food and drink was wonderful. My husband loved his mocktail that was like a Moscow mule with desert pear syrup and my cider donut old fashioned was the perfect drink for a crisp fall afternoon. Food was also terrific. My honey hot wings were really great and the loaded tots were outstanding. Additionally, the portions were huge so we took home the leftovers and made two meals out of it! They had claimed to be gluten free and safe for celiacs (asked multiple waiters) then one day got extremely sick from the food and was not informed till after things are just listed gluten free but they cook everything in gluten. So they up charge you for being gluten free but don't actually safely cook anything and won't tell you unless you specifically tell them you are celiac then they will inform you this is not a safe place to eat. They also charge $4 for a salad that's just lettuce with nothing else. Used to be a go to until they decided it was okay to poison celiac people without telling them. 0/10 recommended. read more

I have been passing by this place for a while and finally had the chance to try out on a Monday afternoon. We were here around noon and the place was fairly empty. We got seated by the window and we quickly knew what to order. I tried the southwest Cobb salad with grilled chicken. Perfect and on-spot. Had a delicious lunch at Notch8 recently! The interior has an open concept design with large windows, ability to see the pizza oven and tons of tvs to watch a game. We started with 10 Buffalo wings which had good heat but in my opinion, were pricey for the amount of meat. The loaded tots were the highlight of the meal. The portion was huge and the sauce was flavorful. We also tried the habanero burger, turkey Reuben, and chili. All of them tasted delicious and were filling. The service was a little slow considering it wasn't busy but we weren't in a rush. I would definitely recommend stopping in here if you're in downtown bethel! read more

Went here looking for a pizza place and this came up as highly rated. It was good a solid restaurant nothing over the top. My picky kid said the pizza was ok. I had pulled pork tacos with truffle parm fries which were yummy! My DH got the honey hot chicken which he thought should be hotter, but he loves spicy so not being hot for him is usually hot for me... staff was nice. There was a bit of a wait when I arrived but (who I think was) the owner wrote my name down and told us to get a drink at the bar and he would come find me when a table opened up. There was live music and when we were sat (not too much later) the owner let us know that if it was too loud where we were sitting, he would move us as soon as something opened. The music did end up being too loud and he was true to his word!! We got the sweet and spicy wings to start which were SO good and a great size. was so very disappointed tonight when i decided to get a late dinner at Notch 8 i went in at 7:35 , just me and was told they were not serving any more dinners tonight because they were too backed up in the kitchen i'm sure it being Mother's day and a beautiful weather day that they were busy throughout the day but when i arrived every table was either finished or at least served their meals -including the patio The website says they close at 9 pm plenty of time to take my order which would have been a salad and pizza I wound up getting a pizza to go, which took about 10 minutes for them to make and deliver to me to take my $17 dollar order could have been more with an added salad and cocktail very disappointed read more

Loved Notch 8! They had a nice alcohol list with beers, wines, margarita bar, and even a mocktail. Inside had a nice long bar and plenty of tables spaced apart so your not knocking elbows with the next table. I loved my blueberry lemonade mocktail. I rarely have more than one drink. Usually its a drink then iced water. Not today two blueberry mocktail lemonades. We decided on the sesame garlic wings for a starter. Nice and crispy, light garlic and sesame flavor My lunch was the fried hot honey chicken sandwich I opted out on the lettuce but wish I had asked for extra pickles. The breading was sooo good and was spicy hot it even came with the sauce on the side to pour over the sandwich. This was the only bad part of our time at Notch 8 my mouth was on fire and I had no drink. I feel like staff needs to keep a peak out for empty glasses. Next we decided to check out their outdoor space - super fun. A small bar outside, tables with umbrellas, they even have a mist of cool water to cool you off on a sunny day. Outside I tried the berry bread pudding it came out warm, with a berry sauce and what looked like and tasted like homemade whipped cream. 2 stars for the simple fact the owner is a disagreeable and arrogant sort. As to food, please child, it's mediocre and lacking in creativity. Like Bethel needs a garbage pizza joint. I cannot recommend, but I do have pity on the staff. It's not their fault this place is boring. read more

The weather was beautiful so we went in search of outdoor dining and after a few strike outs we wound up here. We had been here before so we're looking for somewhere new. The back patio was not crowded at all which was super nice and allowed to get a table right away. As we have a little human we like to order something right away to keep her happy while we decide our meals. We order Mac n cheese and an order of their crab dish after the server recommended it. We placed our full order shortly there after and much to ours (and the kiddos) delight the Mac n cheese was brought to our table about the same time. We figured they rushed the noodles for the kiddo and the crab dip was coming so we didn't ask about it. In no time at all our meals came out but still no crab dip. In addition we had asked for sweet potato fries rather than regular fries but both received regular. The server dropped off the food and quickly walked away so we weren't able to point it out immediately. Despite it not being very crowded it took a bit before we were able to catch her again and when we finally did she was a bit confused as to where the crab dip was so we wound up just canceling it. She then said the kitchen must have messed up both fry orders and that she would bring 2 plates of sweet potato fries out free of charge, which was nice. Beyond these two hiccups and the somewhat slow service the rest of the meal was enjoyable and there was live music which was also a nice treat. What could improve EVERYTHING! If we could give zero stars we would. We should have known when we ordered fried calamari and it came out in less than 5 minutes red flag. The calamari was rubber and not edible You could tell they poured it into the fryer out of the frozen bag it came in. We have never been to a "bar" that we couldn't even eat the burger. It was grease filled. You could smell the grease once it was put in front of you and then the waitress asked us how the food"looked" which was also a red flag and odd. I got the pulled pork quesadilla. Disgusting and not edible. It was obvious the food we ordered went basically untouched and not one person who worked there asked if everything was ok with the food. Our bill was $104 dollars with drinks. We paid the bill and tipped the waitress $20 but we will NEVER go back. In our 35 years of being married we have never been so disappointed. Do better Notch 8. Great sports bar, friendly crowd, great food, and service. If you're looking for a place to watch the game, this place is for you.

The atmosphere and ambiance here are great. It's a great place to grab a drink or two and chill on the patio during the summer and listen to live, local music. The inside bar always seems to have good energy and be pretty full even when the tables are not. Huge plus that their patio is dog friendly - if anything that and the ambiance and live music are the only reasons I could imagine myself going back. That being said the food is underwhelming and the service is poor. As for the food: The pizza is OK in my opinion, a little greasy for my liking and the crust is a bit tasteless but my friends always seem to enjoy it so that could just be me. I've tried different items from hamburger, pork chop, chicken parm (special), everything was OK but I've never found an item that made me want to go back and order the same thing again. As for the service, I've now had multiple experiences where it's been poor at best. I had ordered an appetizer and watched it get delivered to a nearby table. After about 5 minutes, they let the server know they didn't order it so I watched the waitress take it back to the kitchen, then come out 10 seconds later and drop it to my table. On top of that, she just was not nice and the whole time seemed as if we were bothering her. Fast forward 6-7 months and go out with a small group my friend gets a soup that just didn't taste right. He literally took one spoonful and he asked the server if it would be possible to take it off. Literally, the server gave him an eye roll. The other three or four times I've been here the service has been fine. With all that, still a great place to hang out on a summer evening and have a drink or two on the patio or enjoy a drink at the bar and listen to live music. Just don't go for the food and hope you get one of the good servers. If it was not for those two poor experiences, I would have left 3 stars. read more
