My wife and I have had Pulcinella on our list for a while. We finally had the opportunity to go. This is some of the best Italian food I've had in the Danbury area. Plenty of parking. There's a dining room and bar area which also has seating. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was great. The dining room looks like an upscale fancy restaurant. There is very relaxing music playing. There's even a piano in the corner which I'm sure is used for special events or as a treat for the customers. The food was fantastic. You are started off with fresh baked bread from the wood stove. We ordered the Bianca Pizza and Naples Street Food Basket as appetizers. I love potatoe croquettes and this definitely did not disappoint. The Bianca Pizza is made with fresh ricotta which makes a huge difference. Check it the cheese pull posted in one of the pics. I ordered Bolognese over rigatoni. It was delicious and meaty. Luckily there was a little extra sauce and a piece of bread left. Do the math. Overall great experience. I wish I had a better experience here. We went tonight for Valentines Day. Had reservations for 6:30. We sat down at 6:30 and it was 7:00 before someone even came to our table. We were served some water and bread. We noticed there were only two servers for about 30-40 tables. When we finally flagged down a waiter 40 minutes after we sat down, we ordered our drinks and also asked if we could order our apps and dinner at the same time since we were so hungry and didn't know the next time we'd see him. He took our order (no hello, no sorry for the wait, no chat at all) and came back about 15 minutes later with my husbands drink and not mine. He told me to "hang on". Never came back. My husband ended up going to the bar and buying my wine from there. He never came back to the table. Never checked on us, never brought a drink, never asked if we wanted to order another drink or dessert, never another visit until her dropped the check on the table without a word. The service was so bad we were actually laughing. Oh, and they charged us for the wine they never brought but we just paid the bill and left because we just wanted to get out at that point. The food was okay but we will never be back. We have never experienced such bad service anywhere. read more

This is one of our favorite places. We love the ambiance here and we love the staff. Normally we eat in the bar area which on the weekends has someone playing guitar and singing so it gets a little loud. today we were with friends we went into the dining area and they had someone playing the piano, it was beautiful and tranquil night. Our waiter was extremely attentive to us all night. The food tonight was amazing. We all had orders with special requests due to allergies or things we didn't like so all meals were modified and they came exactly as we ordered. I especially appreciated the attention to the details as demonstrated by the lemon wraps and garnishes. To my surprise, I was sitting near a co-owner who was incredibly kind and personable. He let me know that their pizza featured double zero flour and no yeast. As a result, the pizza emerges from the 800-degree wood-fired oven crispy and fluffy. Let me tell you - it delivered. The food was delicious. HOWEVER, we did have multiple issues with the service. First, they brought the appetizer and salad at the same time. Most restaurants either bring them out one at a time or ask how you would like it. That was a minor issue. The larger issues were not bringing out everyone's food at the same time. My husband ordered wings and I ordered aroncini. My aroncini came out at least 10 minutes before his wings. And it got worse. When we asked that each of our Caesar salads be wrapped, the waitress inexplicably commingled them into the same container! Why? My husband ordered the Pulcinella's special, a calzone & pizza with added meatballs. They brought the wrong pizza and it took 20 minutes for the replacement pizza to be served. And even then, it still didn't have the meatballs he'd requested. Meanwhile my pasta dish was ice cold by the time his food was served. The waiter did come and apologize for his ordering error which was nice, but didn't really solve the problem. All in all, I expected better. read more

I've had takeout from this place several times and it's always been great. This is the first time I actually ate in the restaurant, and it was a bit more "Fancy" than I was expecting. The service was wonderful. The food was fabulous as always. If you're going for Italian food, they're not bad the bar pizza is like a frozen pizza from grocery store reheated,but thats fine if you're drinking or drunk but if you're going to order a steak dinner, your best going elsewhere I was recommended by the staff the filet mignon when I asked what is best.What I got was the worst cut of steak I've ever been served that my dog would have been offended! Ordered medium rare and got burnt rubbery grizzle 1/4 inch or less thickness with a terrible cream sauce that wasn't ordered covering up the disaster! It wasn't what I ordered!! I sent the filet back and asked for the Ny strip and got the exact same cut of steak they called a filet mignon, just a larger piece of the same grizzle in extremely undercooked after I got that I finally got the one beer that I ordered at the beginning of the disaster. It was treated rudely by the bartender and never asked if everything is ok or can I get you anything just stayed over on the other side of the bar ignoring me, it took three times asking and walking to the other side of the bar while she chatted. May I please have a beer that I ordered 20 minutes ago, and I was not rude at all and paid my bill and tip accordingly and still got snubbed, and I never finished the beer that I got towards the end of this terrible experience that I've ordered twice. the bar owner was sitting 10 feet away from all of this and just continued with his conversations ignoring everything so you choose your restaurant to go to make another choice. The food here was delicious, but the desserts, especially the pistachio cake, stood out! I personally had the chicken parmigiana which was tasty and excellently cooked. My friends were all very happy with their meals as well. The ambiance was lovely, with a very inviting dining room decorated very nicely and a big shout to our piano player who played everything from classical to classic rock. The food was great! The wait to order our meal was less than ideal and our waiter informed us that he had not been notified that we were his table and apologized. This review is not reflective of the service we did receive from our waiter as he was very attentive and even provided us our espressos on the house due to our wait. I do however feel giving one less star reflects to the management that all tables should be acknowledged promptly. The seasoned pizza/flatbread slices offered as bread for your evening are delicious as could be. We ordered two appetizers to share, I did a make my own pasta and my other half ordered an appetizer as a meal. Our first appetizer was the camarão a alinho which resembled more like gambas, they were cooked perfectly and the garlic sauce was on point. The second appetizer were the mussels Gorgonzola, while they were cleaned very well the Gorgonzola sauce was more like a broth with chunks of Gorgonzola...there was more to be desired and I would not order this again (try it at Black Angus Grill and you'll be a perfect example of mussels Gorgonzola so creamy and delectable). I did the fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and sausage...yet again gambas size shrimp and the sausage was crumbled where I had hoped for links but that's is my own naivety and not reflected in the stars. It was good and now I know their sausage situation so I'd order something else next time. My other half ordered the octopus appetizer as her meal and hands down it is the best octopus either of us have ever had. She is Portuguese and we both said we could never let her Vo know that this place did octopus better. My cousin and I try to grab lunch together at a new place every so often and so we decided on this place after some quick discussion. We came here for pizza and so pizza is what we got! I got the margarita and he went for the Al Tartufo. In addition we tried the Naples Street food basket after it caught my eye; not something I have ever seen on a menu here in the USA (I enjoyed these types of Napolitano treats once before in Naples, Italy back in 2013). We both agreed the pizza was very good. Thin crust, fair elevation on the crust edge which creates the appearance of a bowel, and crunchy exterior but fluffy interior. The sauce was noticeably fresh and delicious; appeared home made but it not sure. Definitely very tasty. My cousin said the Al Tartufo was good, but perhaps a little too much arugula. That will be preference though. The Naples Street food basket was good too. Fried potato balls, fried rice balls and fried polenta triangles are included over a salad. Worth a try if you've never had them. No issues with service. Service was perfectly fine. read more

Let me start by saying. The food is delicious!!!! With that said. Went with a group of ladies today for happy hour. The waitress was the most rudest server ever... Her customer service was awful. Rolling your eyes when asked a question??? Rude. Then to top off. We were leaving and no joke the waitress who serves the bar area. Came out behind us and while I was holding the door open she grabbed the door and slammed it shut.. I called a manager and was told no manager on duty try Johnny tomorrow. The eggplant parmesan was so rubbery and the whole cheese part was not even really melted..I felt it wasnt cooked at all..the caesar salad had these thin little white tasteless bread sticks on the top I thought were little straws...pizza was mediocre. best part was the sausage on top..that's the only thing that had flavor. You can either sit in the lively bar area which had live music playing when we had dinner or in more formal dining area with a piano player. I've had dinner here 4 times and it has been excellent every time. Let me clarify something, and I mean no disrespect - if Pulcinella's was in Manhattan, i probably wouldn't give it 5 stars. But in the Danbury area, this is as good as it gets for Italian food. My co-diners had: fettucine al fredo, veal saltimbuca, rigatoni fra diavolo (excellent sauce), penne a la vodka sauce - I tried all of them and all were outstanding. I also had the fried calamari and grilled calamari - both were great. Excellent wine selection and reasonably priced. Lone critique: broccoli rabe side dish could use some work. They minced it up a bit - I prefer the full stalks and I've been told the best broccoli rabe is boiled/sauteed in a chicken broth. Theirs wasn't terrible, but might use a little work. Waiters are clearly restaurant veterans. One thing I hate in Danbury is that often you order a water, or some other drink and it' a detail the server commonly misses, delivers late - or forgets. Small detail that can trash a meal and really a good memory is important for a waiter and a sign of intelligence. Happy to say Pulcinella doesn't miss a step in this regard. With covid ending the bar seems pretty lively. I noticed one old drunk who is now in his 60's and a legendary barroom brawler in his youth, sitting at the bar, nicely dressed. He was behaving and taking it easy, enjoying the mix of people. While this ain't the Waldorf, they set a nice tome in there, inspiring even the formerly lowest of my ilk to clean up a bit and act responsibly if not classy. It's a nice vibe, even though I feel a bit gay using the term "vibe" - it seems to apply here. Prices are reasonable and people are taking note as it seems pretty crowded on the weekends and busy during the week. Desserts are good and the ladies with me said they make great cappucino's which I was unaware of as I sipped several sambucas. read more

Very rude!!!!! My friend' brought her Mother there for her birthday who turned 86. They were told it was her 86th birthday so they could sing her "Happy Birthday". When it was time for dessert the waiter asked that the group of three go to another table so he could free up the table for another customer where he could get more tips. So instead of celebrating a 86th birthday the table was told to move so they could make more money. DISGUSTING!!!!! Other tables commented how disgusting the waiters actions were.
