Good evening, My wife and I went to this restaurant. I had takeout about a year ago, which I didn't enjoy, but I was hopeful that things had improved because I noticed the parking lot was pretty full on the weekends. I've come to the conclusion that people in New Fairfield or around Danbury really don't know Italian food. It's a shame That was bad Italian food. The salad was terrible, and the iced tea was bad. My wife had the fried mozzarella, which was awful. I had the gnocchi, and the sauce was bitter. overall, I gave it one star because the service was good, but that was it, but you don't go to a restaurant for service you go for food and hope the service is good I hope they read this and change their chef or their cook. We've dined in, ordered out, and hosted many family parties with their food--every experience has been excellent. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious, and we've truly never had a bad meal. Food and atmosphere are great. We ran into a waiter with a misunderstanding of our gluten-free order. We ordered a meal that was to be GF. When we received it was not. He implied we did not make it clear enough. He would be happy to wrap the meal up and charge us. We told him no. He countered it would have to come out of his pocket. So what? Enjoyed a cozy dinner at this gem. We were a large party near closing time. We called ahead and the graciously gave us the nod to come on in. It was good food and fun. We need to dine in soon but tried take out from here and loved every bite of it! The penne a la vodka is incredible and the sauce is the best I've had in the area. The other pastas as well as the chicken Milanese are delicious and well seasoned. The portions are large and everything was presented beautifully which is always tricky with take out. We look forward to dining in but I can already tell we'll have an even more delicious meal when we do. If you're looking for great quality Italian in a lovely setting then this is the spot for you. My GF & I flew up to Connecticut last WkEnd to visit family. We were immediately notified that dinner plans had been arranged for all three nights and first up was Pappadellas Italian restaurant. Pulling up & walking in I first noticed that the building & atmosphere although unassuming were also underwhelming and slightly cold. That is my only critique of our dining experience though. Our server, Clint, was fantastic! Friendly, funny, helpful with the menu and prompt with service. We had a large & loud party but Clint and the rest of the service staff managed us efficiently & smoothly. The food was outstanding as well! Would give it six stars if we could. Danielo the bartender is my new hero -- narrated the process of mixing some yummy mojitos, for one thing. We showed up around 8 pm on a Saturday night, a group of 5 with no reservations, and were seated within 5 - 10 minutes. All staff were charming and professional. Food was served quickly and looked and tasted delicious -- salad, fish, pasta, everything. We ordered desserts to go because couldn't pass up the dessert menu even though we were full. Talk about a little jewel in the middle of nowhere! This place has it all. The service is only equaled by the food! Both are top notch! The host, waitress and bus staff are all on the same page.... GREATNESS! It's been a long while since my husband and I have enjoyed everything about a meal. This was it! The wine was exceptional. The specials were great. My husband had a perfectly cooked veal chop in a brown sauce with mushrooms, broccoli, mashed potatoes, carrots, string beans. I had spaghetti and meatballs, not on the menu but in my head and they gladly prepared it perfectly. The fresh bread, mmhhh mamma Mia! Had garlic infused butter and the perfectly presented Ceasar Salad on a chilled plate were spot on. My super sweet husband took me here for "date night." The place was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. Other than that, the food was okay. The bread and fried calamari didn't seem home made at all. Possibly the calamari came out of the freezer. The main dishes were good but nothing to write home about. So I kind of land in the middle of the road on this one. We were also being swarmed by gnats while we ate which made it lose a little of its appeal. read more

To start off, before Pappadella's moved to its new location, food was fantastic! It was our favorite go to Italian restaurant. We feel the food has deteriorated since the move. They hardly ever have stuffed artichokes on the menu, one of their most popular items, and when they do the flavor and quality is not the same. Other pasta dishes that we've ordered in the past lack the same flavor as well. The service has always been efficient and friendly.That hasn't changed. We love the wait staff. The acoustics in the second room are very poor. It's hard to hear yourselves talk even when there are only a few other tables engaging in conversation. All in all, we miss the old place! read more

Last Sunday we called for a last minute reservation for 7 about an hour or so before their kitchen closed. It wasn't my planning but it's just one of those things...any who, the first impression over the phone was extremely welcoming and told us no problem right away! Now, let me start by saying I was born and raised in Italy, and I usually don't eat at Italian restaurants, because it just doesn't measure up for me to my cooking, having said that....i was impressed by the quality of food and the amazing hospitality received! We ordered lots of things from the menu: burrata caprese (one of my faves), calamari, beef carpaccio, bruschetta, shrimp scampi, veal Milanese, chicken parmigiana, steak with fries, penne vodka with grilled chicken, soup and mozzarella in carrozza and everything was very good! Make sure to order the margaritas! Amazing!!!!! The complimentary dessert and birthday song was a plus and we totally appreciated the last minute accommodation and full blown hospitality! Decided to try this restaurant based on reviews and a recommendation from a friend. It is a small establishment and the décor is a little dated. They don't have too many tables since the place is kind of small so plan ahead by making reservations. I ordered Chicken Marsala and it was very tender and the sauce had a descent Marsala flavor. My husband had the Chicken Piccata which was just ok. The chicken sauce did have a lemon taste but the consistency of the sauce was a little gummy like they used too much flour. I wish I could say more but it really did not knock my socks off. If I decide to return, I will try ordering a pasta meal. I also noticed that I could not get any cell service in this restaurant. They should think about providing free wireless services for their patrons. I always like to be reachable in case of an emergency. read more

Located on Pembroke Rd. In Danbury I had high anticipation in coming to this local restaurant. I will start with the positive: they were friendly, accommodating and really cared to make your visit pleasant. The waitstaff was very nice and they should be commended. The ambiance was also nice. The negative: The food! Its horrible. We had several different plates of food and all was terrible. They do not make authentic italian food. Its a version they chose that has no taste! Paprika sprinkled on everything for color. Eww. Also for the price you should get pasta and or salad too with your dish. It wasn't. Portions were small. The plate looks like something mass produced as if I were attending a wedding. Mashed potatoes and veg just for looks but not enough of a portion to fill your belly. I will not go back and I do not recommend this restaurant, especially if you know good food. No fresh garlic used. No good Italian aroma scent when you walk in the restaurant. Instead if you entered blindfolded you would not even know it was a restaurant. Thats not a good sign. Sorry Danbury, I wish I didn't have to give this a 2 star. I hope the owners get new experienced chefs to turn this around. Because word of mouth is everything in a local business! read more

Nice little Italian place in danbury. They offer a crepe pasta which is very innovative and tasty. The staff is very welcoming and nice. Save yourself the time of reading ahead and just follow this advice: Go to Pappadella's! The restaurant is on the smaller side so as some other reviewers have mentioned reservations are a good idea for the weekends. Chef Andre is just fantastic and he is a wizard in the kitchen. There are a number of rotating specials, but the fresh made stuffed pasta's are always a huge winner. Bacon wrapped prawns are also fantastic. If you're lucky enough to be there on a night with stuffed filet of sole you are in for a perfect dinner. The flavors are always exceptional and the service is top notch. You may find larger restaurants, but you will not find a better one. read more
