Beautiful restaurant with a fireplace, bar and most importantly, great service and food! We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a family luncheon and had the Portobello Salads, of course, and various chicken dishes, all were delicious and fresh! Our server was lovely. She was very sweet and patient with the elderly in our group and made our visit memorable and pleasant! I will definitely return, perhaps for dinner, later this fall. read more

We stopped in here for a quick dinner. Lots of parking available in the front, back or side. Located in the plaza with Dunkin' Donuts. There is inside seating, as well as outside patio seating. There was a nice bar area where you could also eat. Not that many tables inside but we did not have to wait. The restaurant is very clean and has great decor. They have a fireplace inside that was not lit because it wasn't cold outside. The staff was very friendly and greeted us upon our arrival and thanked us for coming when we left. They weren't very attentive at the table unfortunately. Nobody came to refill our water, which I thought was strange. The food was good. Basic pizza shop dishes, nothing over the top or crazy like all the new trendy restaurants. The chicken Parm pizza was very good. The Penne àlla Vodka and Meatball Grinder were also good. I really enjoyed the way they cut the grinder. They cut it on top to allow the thick part of the bread to be on the bottom. Wether chicken parm or meatball, the bread usually breaks. Food at Portabella is fair - it's not gourmet and it's certainly not novel cuisine . It's mom's homemade cooking . I cannot for the life of me understand why a 16 inch plain cheese pizza is $22-$23 plus tax and then add 3 soups comes to almost $60.00. I know ingredients are expensive ; that's why there's a thing called food cost . Food costs are NOT practiced here so bring your back up card . If a soup at this establishment is $10.99 plus tax and tip that's almost $14.00 . Is this price gouging or just simple greed ? Grant it , the soup is good but not for $11.00 plus tax and tip that's $14.00. INSANE. Other items on this menu are overpriced as well . 50% of restaurants go out of business because they do not execute pricing properly ( food cost). The other reason is maintaining help and executing quality consistently .There are 3 pizzeria within walking distance at-the 4 corners and all their prices vary greatly and make no sense . As for the menu pricing, the chicken that this restaurant utilizes is 100% pumped with sodium giving it plump serving . Looks like a large portion but when in fact if you keep cooking it , it will reduce in size . Part of our healthcare is being challenged with salts injected into our foods today and this issue needs to be addressed . I'm NOT blaming this restaurant , I'm blaming the food distribution companies. It's time to back off of sodium in our water bottles , chicken , pizza , sushi , Chinese food - etc yes , electrolytes are important but not when it's everything you indulge in . This is why most of the country is on blood pressure meds . The waitstaff here is pleasant and courteous . They are very attentive to your requests . Being trained in the culinary institute -servers should be approximately 6-8 feet away from the table. This restaurant has this down very well . The food arrived hot and proper temperature. The ambiance is very dark and dismal at best . I know electric costs are skyrocketing but there's a time of day when lighting should be turned up and here at this place - it's not . It appears closed when driving by at any time of day . I hope they remain at this location since there isn't much of a choice in restaurants- please be cognizant of prices and serving sizes . 2 pound of past with 8oz of lemon chicken for $27.00 is a bit too high salad is $17.00 extra . Soup $12. Salad $17. Entree $27. Dessert $8. will run you approximately 64.00 plus tip 20% $12.80 76.80 This is on the low side , there are other options such as steak at 40.00 and or veal at $30.00 Plus a drink ???? Tried to send this to your contact us option on your website but that doesn't seem so be working. Wanted to go straight to you but now we're here. Delivery order not what I paid for... I order a calzone with extra mozzarella only because you have no option for extra ricotta cheese and specified I wanted extra ricotta. Last time I got charged for extra mozzarella and charged for extra ricotta with the same instructions. I also order extra sauce and did not receive that either. We love your establishment but the last 2 times we order has been just plane bad. After ordering multiple times before and getting exactly what we wanted I feel like the quality has gone down. Finally an Italian restaurant near us that did not disappoint. The food here is authentic Italian fare which coming from a very picky Italian is a big compliment. Drinks are delicious as well. They have happy hour on Saturday which you don't find often. Their eggplant rollatini is amazing as well as their mussels in Gorgonzola cream sauce. Tiramisu here is heavenly. Wait staff is professional and attentive. Small but friendly atmosphere that truly makes you feel like you're part of the family. I've been a satisfied customer for many years. It was disappointing when pizza was removed from the menu since it was the best here in Brookfield. Although I hadn't been back since Kenny left I decided to place a delivery order. On the Grubhub site there was a place to note special instructions and I asked that the side pasta be dressed with the Marsala sauce from the chicken marsala (which I ordered as a main dish). When the dinner arrived at my house I discovered the side pasta to be covered with marinara sauce. I cannot eat tomato or tomato products as it could be deadly for me. I ate the chicken and threw the pasta out. I commented on this experience on their Facebook site and the reply was that the staff got confused by my request and thought I wanted marinara which is idiotic since I was very specific. Then, whoever answered, said he/she tried to call me, but that was untrue since I never received a call. It's really too bad because a simple "sorry" would have been the right thing to do in this instance but I guess they don't like to apologize. Very disappointing. read more

My first time trying Portobello during Covid 19. First - what we ordered - cheese garlic bread, large meatball pizza, capellini with garlic and oil and a side of meatballs. I'll start with the one thing I did not like and end with the good stuff. The capellini with garlic and oil barely tasted like garlic and it was watery on the bottom maybe like it was poured from the pot right in the container. That was a big portion of my meal so I was a little bummed. However, their meatballs the best I have tasted at an Italian restaurant yet. Their garlic bread with cheese - super yum. I have not tried the pizza yet but my fiancé did and he's from the New Haven area which has amazing pizza and he Loved Portobello's meatball pizza. I thought this restaurant was really yummy! We ordered Chicken Piccata and two of their specials for the evening - Crab cake as an appetizer and Shrimp & Scallops over Fettuccine Bianco. All dishes were delicious. The portions were generous though the food was so good we literally mopped the plates clean with the bread. We had a cannoli and a tiramisu for dessert and both were amazing. The wait staff is great. Our server was very courteous and attentive. It rarely gets better that this. It was a Friday evening and there was a constant stream of townsfolk for takeout and dine-in.
