In Danbury we stopped by Square One for lunch. We were all pretty hungry by the time we arrived. It wasn't very busy when we were here, it might get more popular during the evening hours. The bar area seemed fun, with the string lights and their cocktails seem like the reason to return. On this occasion we all got mocktails, it was hot and the drive home was long. I typically don't do mocktails, but this one tasted like the real thing. It was only $6, many places charge around $10. For my meal, I got the fish tacos. These came with three corn tortillas, filled with grilled cod, avocado and slaw. On the side there was rice and beans. This was so filling, fresh and tasty! I also enjoyed the rice and beans. I could've had just two tacos, but I had all three. Our waitress was fast and efficient. Everyone else was happy with their meals. The restroom featured just one stall. It is a bit confusing to me, that a not so small establishment would have just one restroom. Aside from the restroom, the food was very tasty. I would return here again. read more

First time here today. When I arrived about 2:30 Saturday afternoon we were the only table and there were 2 people at bar. We were seated and given menus and water. There was a bar tender and 3 waitresses. We ordered and sat waiting for our drinks? Then the appetizer was delivered at same time as lunch....really? After food was delivered we didn't see our waitress again, the bar tender left and someone else took over the bar. She was so busy chatting up the now 3 people at the bar she never glanced over at our table. We had an empty pint glass and empty bottle at end of table signaling for drink refills but that went unanswered. After waiting about 15 minutes I decided our waitress must be on break and forgot to let the bartender know? Another couple had been seated behind us and I heard them complaining some of the food wasn't hot and where was our waitress After 20 minutes unattended I stepped up to bar and asked for the check Poor service is inexcusable when a place isn't busy!!! Met a friend there for lunch. I've had apps there but this was the first meal. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. It's a double decker, with slaw on top. It was great. Brioche bun was fresh and their breaded pieces of chicken were hot crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. It wasn't spiced heavily, like a blazing Buffalo wing. It was just right for me. Subbed for onion rings and they were properly made. My pal got 3 fish tacos and she gave them a thumbs. They also have an interesting array of beers. I ordered one likened to the taste of a Japanese lager. It was good. Light crowd. Service was fine. Very welcoming. read more

Our son and his friend ordered a beef sandwich and fries for takeout. Ate it. Got sick as dogs- both of them. Our son spent 5 hours in the emergency room. Two IVs, rounds of medication later he recovered. Obviously, ingredients and/or staff not up to standard and we've notified the Danbury Health Department. Buyer beware. read more

What a cozy sports bar! They were decorated so nicely for the holidays with Christmas lights, and they even had a list of festive cocktails to order from. The menu had all the comfort foods we could want, and we weren't disappointed! The Mac and cheese was definitely a highlight with how cheesy it was, and the pretzel was really fresh and soft. If we had one critique, the buffalo sauce was a little more on the vinegary side, but could be a personal preference. Our server, Kaylynn, was so nice and took great care of us, and we were in and out in just over an hour without feeling rushed. Would definitely come back here when I'm in the area! read more

Nice, modern look inside with blown-up pictures of celebrities stuffing their mouths with burgers and fries. Service was very pleasant and attentive as well. All the food we ordered was good, with the highlights being the crispy, crunchy fries and the brisket grilled cheese. The philly cheesesteak and bavarian smash were decent, but the brisket was at a different level altogether. Oh, the appetizers were good too. Good, big salted pretzel with two dipping sauces (cheese and honey mustard I believe), and a special of fried taters with hot honey which was very good but the honey wasn't really hot, so just tasted honeyed. This was probably my tenth time having food from Square One. Half of my experiences have been with takeout. Dinning in is nice, gives me a bit of a neighborhood vibe, but with lots of different faces. The location is convenient for me and the menu has a little of everything. Birria taco and carnitas taco are my current go to meals. They had a tasty buffalo chicken salad that I wish was still on the menu. The wings were delicious, half lemon pepper and half sweet chili, very fresh. Fries were also really good. My son did not like his cheeseburger from the kids menu at all. Beer selection is really good too. 3 stars because of the inconsistency, Ive had food that was served lukewarm and shrimp tacos with un edible flour tortillas due to how hard they were. Still, I've had more good than bad. I think this place has such potential. They will continue to get my business. read more

Square One Bar & Grill has become a staple for anytime we visit CT. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant after a trip to CT. I was quickly looking around for a place with veggie and gluten free options and was surprised to find a menu with so many choices. Each time I have visited Square One Bar & Grill, I am able to try a variety of options since they offer veggie burgers and gluten free buns. I have also had the cauliflower tacos with corn tortillas, which were equally delicious. My boyfriend has enjoyed a variety of chicken sandwiches and burgers and is always looking for an excuse to make the drive as he also enjoys the draft selections. Highly recommend! read more

We were looking for something that we never tried before and my husband suggested this place due to its "country looking theme" based on their website. We went at 2pm on a Sunday so it was relatively quiet. It was larger than we expected but very cute. Nice bar area with booths as well as booth and table options in the dining room. There is a large food selection on the menu so it was hard to pick what to eat! We started with Cajun wings, fried mozz, and kids chicken tenders and fries. The Cajun wings were very very tasty, I would prefer them a little Crisper but I know to ask for them well done next time but the flavor profile was perfect. The fried mozz was okay, I think it might have been a tad bit undercooked as the cheese wasn't melted inside. The kids loved the chicken nuggets and fries, I have to say the fries were very good. I had the smash burger with fries medium rare with onion rings and it was delightful and everything was cooked perfectly. My husband seemed pleased with his Rueben and side salad. I've always enjoyed my food when I've come here. If you haven't tried their tacos you should! I love how they have deal days. I wish their parking situation was better and the actual building is pretty small so it gets crowded quickly. When there has been crowds the service has been slow. Square One is more enjoyable for me in the evening rather than during the day. The drink list is awesome, from drafts to signature cocktails. When it comes down to it, this is a burger place with a good drinking atmosphere. I finally stopped in for lunch one day, and realized as a vegetarian my options are limited to salads and a meatless burger, which tasted great. The few things that the waiter suggested as vegetarian were fried, which cannot be eaten due to cross contamination in fryer. My friends always enjoy their pickings here, so the food must be good I just wish I could eat more myself! Its disappointing that it's hard to eat here, but I will continue to come here for the drinks and great bar service. I'm a sucker for a good cocktail list, and they've got it. Our first visit to Square One! Sever made wonderful recommendations. Started with the wings - special deal on Sunday!! He did a combo of flavors offered and the wings were excellent. My husband ordered from the special menu and had the classic corned beef. Came out hot and delicious! I am vegetarian & gluten free. The server let me know the veggie patty is not gluten free. He recommended the honey cauliflower tacos which were made with GF corn tortillas. These tacos were super good!! Next time we are in Danbury I'm coming back for more. Also, my husband was so excited that they have cider on draft. The server did bring the wrong meal for my husband, but was so quick to fix it! He didn't make us feel bad at all.
