My wife and I stopped into Foster's tonight for dinner. We ordered two steak and cheese sandwiches, one order of fries, and one iced tea. The total came to just under $29. One thing I still don't understand is why they don't offer table service. You place your order at the counter, get your own drinks, and they simply bring the food to your table. At these prices, I would much rather go to another locally owned restaurant where we can get full table service, more food, and still spend less--even after leaving a tip. While paying with Apple Pay, I had an issue at the register. I tapped my phone, it beeped and vibrated like it always does, and the payment screen changed. The employee told me I had done something wrong and that it didn't go through. I tried again while she watched, and it worked. She then made a smart remark, saying, "Told you." I didn't appreciate the comment. Since this is counter service, I also didn't leave a tip I suppose that's another reason for the comment. I'm placing my own order, getting my own drinks, and only having my food brought to the table, so I don't feel a tip is expected in that situation. When our food arrived, it looked okay, but the fries were disappointing. They tasted like they were only half cooked, and there were a lot of small broken pieces in the bottom of the basket. If this had been a full-service restaurant and someone had stopped by to ask how everything was, I would have mentioned the fries. Instead, I didn't feel like getting back up to stand in line again just to say something. Overall, the food was okay, but between the prices, the lack of table service, the interaction at the register, and the undercooked fries, it just wasn't a great experience. We'll spend our money at some of the other local restaurants for a while. They offer table service, larger portions, and better overall value for about the same price. read more

Ambiance: I visited in a Saturday night and we met a group of people who were sitting outside. The benches outside were typical metal benches but there was enough room for 8 of us to sit comfortably. There is also a TV outside so I could watch the football game. Inside was packed with people and a line out the door to take orders. I made my order (on the ticket). You sort of circle what you want like sushi, except it's not. Select your burger and toppings or pick a hotdog and combo it or not. Pro-tip, when getting beer or wine, don't stand in line, just walk up to the bar to the right of the food order takers. You can start a tab. Service: They got my order wrong. The runner gave me a plain hamburger patty. No grilled onions, no pickle, no mayo (yes I said mayo don't hate). I went back in and was able to grab my runner's attention and got the sides on the side in little cups. I'm guessing they were rushed because the table behind me had the same issue. I heard her say to her kid "They messed up." Being busy, I can understand the hiccups, especially when a new establishment. I went in to settle up my bar tab and the girls were standing at the end of the bar ignoring me while I stood there. They were preoccupied with something to do with money or tips. Not sure. I had to loudly say "Can I settle my tab?" I got a blank look and then one of them, courteously helped me. Maybe I'm being picky, but you have to keep one eye out for someone standing there. Food: Once I got everything, it was pretty good. The hamburger had a little bit of Smokey flavor like it was from a flame grill, which was nice. Just a few things could have been better. A tweak here and there and once they hit their stride, I'm thinking it will improve. I'm going to return and give an update. read more

My friend and I were greeted warmly when going inside to pick up the food, and the place had a very comfy and chill atmosphere. After trying my food at home, wow! The best thing on the menu was the beer selection. I got a burger and the bun was cold and hard. For a burger joint, you'd think they would have that part figured out. If not toasted, at least have the bun somewhat soft. The waitress/cashier was very friendly and provided great service. I have no complaints about that at all. I loved the feel of inside and it was a cool little hangout spot. I just wish they could get the food squared away. Let's talk about a burger place that uses a FROZEN BURGER PATTY.... Emphasis on burger place. The patty was hard around the edges and dry. The only flavor from the burger was where it was heated up in the grill. I would not waste my money again. The onion rings are just basic frozen/fried onion rings. The wings wings were okay. Still would not waste my money. The reason for the second star? The fries the fries were amazing!! This place is so disorganized.. people are waiting at tables for someone to come get the menu from the table, people are standing around everywhere. Definitely should have something that suggest what you should do when you come in the door. Would not recommend. Unless you went to jersey mikes next door got a sandwich and wanted some fries. read more

I have been here several times and have always had good service and good food however on my last visit I ordered a Chicken Cheese Steak which I have never ordered before. When it came out I looked for the chicken and it was really scarce. I asked the young lady at the counter if the this was the typical amount of chicken for this sandwich and she said no and called the manager over, I asked if the amount of chicken that was on the sandwich was the standard amount to which he replied yes, all the chicken is weighed out but he never even looked at the sandwich before he answered. Being vegetarians we wanted to try the Backyard Garden & CharBurger. Both were delicious & not your typical mushy meat substitute. CharBurger was meatier with noticeable grill flavor. Adding lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles & jalapeños added to the flavor profile. Service was expedient & polite. We were fortunate enough to have Scott (owner) take our order. Asked if this was our first visit & took the time to explain the menu, specifically around our dietary interests. I mentioned some of the negative reviews about opening week service, ambience & quality. He openly admitted the challenges & pitfalls as well as steps taken to address those concerns. He was honest & up front about his business (Prince Frederick being the third location & newest). That genuine customer service approach is comforting & reassuring, which is one more reason to return. One suggestion, be prepared for hectic atmosphere during busy times, perhaps dine outside to avoid the noise (only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5). read more
