Forward Craft & Coffee was such a fun find! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome with their friendly, upbeat service. The space has an awesome ambiance--bright, inviting, and comfortable--with plenty of seating whether you're looking to knock out some work, catch up with friends, or just relax in the cozy lounge area. I also loved the unique selection of both coffee and craft beer, making it the kind of place you could visit any time of day. It's not your typical coffee shop, and that's what makes it stand out. One of my favorite spots! My friend and I came in on a busy Sunday. There was music playing and people at every table, but it was a nice balance as we were working and talking, and both were fine. The mocha was great. My friend ordered an Oreo Cold Brew (not pictured)-- yum!! Will definitely have to get this next time. The cinnamon roll was delicious, the perfect icing ratio. The most unbelievable email ive ever read. I said I was uncomfortable about something at the forward coffee shop and posting a review of my experience on yelp or google of a business and sharing what I experienced is freedom of speech and that's what yelp and google is. They threatened legal action if I shared what I experienced. The email that I'm still speechless about they directly insinuated i have mental health issues - all bc I asked to speak to a manager about something that was making me uncomfortable and would make anyone uncomfortable. This entire email is the clearest example of destructive gaslighting i have ever see. I have never spoken a word to them about my personal life, I have never said a word about 'metal health issues. I was not given any opportunity to speak or defend myself.They made sure i wasnt called only emailed to control their narrative of me. I made the decision to never come back days ago. I go almost every day. I am unbelievably nice. I dont say anything besides my order and small friendly talk. I say thank you every time i get my drink and smile. I am not someone that would randomly make things up. I explained a situation that happened 5 months ago but as you can see in the email they've apparently 'looked at all the footage' and have made their conclusion in less than a day. There's no way you can go over 8 months of footage in less than a day. There's no way to make an accurate fair conclusion in less than a day. As you can see in their response they accused me of trying to make employees look bad. Here was the incident: I came out of the exit door to the bathroom and two employees had been so close to the door that I hit them by accident. I asked 'can I help you?' And they ran away. Even then I didn't say anything. It was invasive, inappropriate, and incredibly rude. I should have said something as anyone would but I didn't. Somehow I knew this would happen if I said a word. They usually have one or two at the front and are very often alone but bc the employees didn't see anything that means I'm lying. Make that make sense Their false accusations and threats of taking legal action is laughable. They even had the balls to give me the number of a mental health line. It is absolutely despicable and condescending. It's hilarious to me that they set these rules and conclusions that I must follow as if not following it is doing something illegal. I'm not an idiot. I feel so sad for people that are actually like this bc it only shows how many issues they have and how unhappy they are. It shows the type of people they are and their morals and values and indifference. To know a collective group of people, a well known and popular coffee shop, handles a customer telling them something is making them uncomfortable is in reality the direct opposite of how establishments are as a norm. It makes me very concerned for customers. Lastly The email written to me said how'd they they don't have cameras in the bathroom or stalls so they don't know if anything happened. The incident was not inside the bathroom and stalls. I said that many times and made clear. They lied to make me look even worse.The moral of the story is don't speak up when you feel uncomfortable bc it's your fault you feel that way. Keep spreading that message my friends. I was told it was inappropriate to contact any employees or go into the store as if I had already done something or was going to. I do not behave in that way nor have I ever.. I dont have any contact info for any of them. Ive never seen any of them outside the coffee shop or spoken to them. I don't even know their names.. The emails are not in order - yelp has been mixing them up when I put them in order. Sorry about that read more

Was very busy on a Saturday morning and hard to find a spot to sit. It was a nice spot to do homework and they also had a ton of board games which was lovely! Service was still very fast despite how busy it was! The barista let me try the cosmic brownie cold brew before I ordered which I very much appreciated! They also put a little bit of the regular cold brew in with the cosmic brownie one so it wasn't as sweet and it was literally perfect. So tasty! read more

Came for coffee with two friends and had a good time at Forward, loved the selection of drinks and seating options. The side room with the couches is fun, and the vibe inside is great. Two of my friends and I ordered an iced caramel latte, a sweet and creamy cold brew, and a Foxpaw latte. Overall, we thought they were good. My cold brew was a little overpoweringly sweet, but sweet is in the name, so hard to complain. My friends and I have a very opinionated and convoluted rating system for coffee shops based on 13 categories. Forward scored a good 13.59 out of 21, a good score (21 is hard to get). Some of the top features were drinkware, atmosphere, and chairs (both ergonomics and number). Would gladly come back a second time! read more

I really love some aspects of this place. The space and ambiance are adorable and they have different types of seating depending on what you are looking for, smaller tables for solo working, big tables for hangouts or playing games (they have a nice selection) or trivia nights, couch by the fire for relaxing, etc. I also LOVE that they do both coffee and beer flights and that the beer changes regularly. You can bring your own food in since they don't have much other than a few breakfast pastries and not very good pizza, so plan ahead if you actually want to eat real food. Usually places like this allow dogs, but they don't. Their beer prices are just a little higher than the rest of the beer scene in Madison with most 5 oz pours at $5 each for low ABV beer. They usually have pretty strange beers which is great for me but not my partner who prefers basic ales and lagers. Also plan ahead for parking as it is difficult due to the location. Since they don't allow dogs and are a bit more expensive than other places we only go here if there's a special event or special beers we want to try out. If they changed their prices or dog policy or had food maybe we would come more often. read more

This is such a great place! We came on a Sunday morning to check out the new coffee/beer spot in the area and it has a really relaxed vibe. They have cold brew flights which is a fun twist to your traditional coffee spot. Plus you can grab other drinks like lattes and a whole French press of coffee for 4. We didn't try the beer but they have a number of IPAs and overall a wide selection! Something for everyone. I definitely recommend checking it out!! read more

Love that you can get fights of both the cold brew and the craft beer however the nitro cold brew was a little light and lacking in flavor for my tastes. The espresso on the other hand was phenomenal. Unbelievably smooth. I also like that if you don't want a whole flight, you can still by the 5oz as singles instead of having to get a full point. There are a Wide variety of beers for all tastes. If you like a good strong but smooth stout, the Deths Tar is to die for!!! I was a little leery because of the name, thinking it would be bitter or jerky tasting like some stouts can be but it was amazing. My brother and I both loved it. The mocha java stout was too sweet for our tastes though. Next time I'm in the area, we will definitely come back to try others. read more

I originally went to Forward Craft & Coffee simply because it's a coffee shop on my route to work. Then I realized that they have cold brew flights, which are SOMETIMES dairy free! Yay! However I have been disappointed by the craft brews selection, as often there is only one gluten free beer. lately, the website has not been updated regularly, so I went in under the impression they had 5 gluten free options on draft and I was excited to pick 4 for a flight! Imagine my disappointment that they only had one seltzer that they could not verify was gluten free. Tasty takeout beverage experience! Both traditional and creative assortment of coffee drinks, and beer drinkers can enjoy the vast array of 20 tap beers plus more in bottles and cans! Although we got our drinks to go, the ambiance looked cozy and comfortable. My group enjoyed a miel coffee drink, berry violet lemonade, and nitro bourbon butterscotch cold brew.... all very good! The atmosphere is nice here and one barista is super friendly and helpful but the hot brewed coffee is weak (both medium and dark roasts) and their internet can't handle a few users. They were resistant to restart the router and the place was not even half full. Everyone in my area was using their personal hotspot because no one could logon. There's not much incentive to order more and stay to work here. After a router restart the internet still doesn't work and the coffee is still weak. Maybe if you order cold brew and rely on your personal hotspot you'll like this place. read more

This weekend I visited a brand new business that has just recently opened on Madison's east side and I wanted to share this wonderful experience opportunity with all...who knew one could order a delicious flight of cold brew coffee? Forward Craft & Coffee is a delightfully unique establishment combining a "beer bar with a coffee bar" that can cater to all kinds of interests and tastes. Upon walking in, I felt immediately welcomed by the warm and friendly staff willing to pour a favorite brew, or perhaps to suggest a new beverage to try. Having the choice of a "fresh air" seating space as well as three other seating room spaces among which to choose, lends to a wide variety of social meeting and celebrating and just plain "hanging out" opportunities.
