We had solar installed in 2018, but didn't like the vendor and when we needed to add panels, we chose Forme in 2022 and they did a great job. Our SolarEdge inverter from the 2018 install just failed (while still under warranty). The first solar company we used, who installed the inverter, refused to install a new inverter because we had used Forme for additional panels in 2022. Forme stepped up, got the inverter from SolarEdge, and did the install for us. Our original Forme rep from 2022, Bobby, was attentive throughout the process. Choosing a solar company was one of the hardest things to do. Each company has their strong and weak points. And each rep is sure to point out their competitors weaknesses. We ended up going with Forme Solar because we were really impressed with Nick. He was very thorough answered all our questions (we had a lot of questions). I was also really impressed with the installation team. It was nice because the guys all spoke english, cleaned up everything, and was even more impressed that they when I offered them water they refused and politely said that they bring all their own water. Pros: NIck was very informative, kept in constant communication, made us feel like we can trust them. Was really impressed with the installation team. The warranty on the panels pretty matches most of their competitors. Cons: The company is relatively new. Not sure what had happened but the when we had to do our final inspection the scheduler said that we do not have to be home and did not inform us that we needed to have a carbon monoxide detector. Because of this we had to reschedule 3 times. 1, because they needed access into our backyard, and our house. 2. we did not have CO smoke detectors installed. Finally third time was a charm. Overall: Typically I would have docked a star for the inconvenience of the final inspection. But I was so impressed with with Nick and his installers that I feel comfortable in giving 5 stars. After talking with all companies big and small we had the most confidence in Forme Solar. We have had our solar panels up and running for about a month and have had no issues. I needed a second opinion on some changes to my current solar system, since the company I installed with ghosted me after the install was done. They were incredibly insightful, honest, and knowledgeable about their product and solar in general. They're not just about the sale, they want their customers to be happy with the solutions they provide. The original installer I had promised me things that I later learned were impossible with the system they gave me. Forme Solar went into extensive detail as to why this would be impossible, and what they would have done differently to make it possible. Working with their customers every step of the way was one of those things. I can't speak personally to their quality of installs, since I only got a consultation with them. But I can say for certain, after talking with them, they know what they're doing and will provide you with something you'll definitely be happy with. It took a little under a month for them to get the permit and install. I picked the latest solar equipment with LG panels and enphase microinverters. PG&E took a week to turn on my solar electric system. I am producing slightly more than they predicted. But I oversized the system for an EV. No problems with the system. I had Tesla charger, Roof work, Electrical Panel and 7.4 Kwh LG system installed. Once they started working on the project things were moving on time and they got the stuff done. Having gone through over 10 different proposals from various companies, we decided to go with ForMe Solar for their customer service. Bobby was very helpful and straight to the point. That said, communication was flaky in the beginning, but I attribute that to the representative I was assigned as she had a family emergency at the time. Communication improved once a new representative was assigned to me and it was smooth sailing from there. The documentation and the installation were all done timely. While we were worried as we were getting closer to the NEM 2.0 cut-off date, we were grandfathered in on 4/11/2023. I began researching solar in 2021 and looked at a number of companies, both large and smaller. I got five bids in early 2022 and compared them based on several criteria, including cost, quality of equipment, whether they had in-house installation crews, number of installations and, finally, online reviews. Most of the quotes came in within a couple of thousand dollars of each other. One of the largest companies had a competitive quote, but the reviews on several sites suggested customers were clamoring for service and many had been waiting for some time for a response. I ultimately selected Forme Solar because their quote was competitive (although not the lowest), they used quality equipment, had many installations and they had an in-house crew. The company has been around for about a decade, starting out as a solar installation and repair outfit. I dealt primarily with Bobby Singh, who was responsive to all my questions. From the time I signed the contract to installation was less than eight weeks. The site pre-installation inspection was a couple days after I signed the contract and was done with a drone. The city inspection was the day after installation and we passed it. Unfortunately the inspector didn't notify the utility as he was supposed to, and that delayed being interconnected to my utility for another week. During installation the techs broke six tiles. They told me about it and the next day Forme's roofing folks came and replaced them. Pretty impressive. Bottom line is I was impressed with Forme's follow through, quality of installation and responsiveness. There were a couple of minor issues with the interconnection application, such as missing information, but they were corrected. I sped up the process by personally walking the plans to my HOA, which shaved a few days from the process. So far my system is producing energy and working well. While I have not closely inspected the installation on the roof, it appears well done, so hopefully there won't be any leak issues. Overall Forme did a great job and I recommend them. Suggestions for those considering solar: One, stay in touch and follow up on each step of the process. Two, consider the equipment closely, including the size of the panels and the paired inverters. We used REC400 Alpha Pure with iq8+ Enphase inverters, which works well. You'll get some clipping with this combination, so research whether you'd be better off with an inverter with higher output, like the iq8A or iq8M. There are advantages and disadvantages to all. Three, stay on top of permits and get involved to speed things up. read more

So my original solar installer was no longer in existence (problems with the Cartel) and after hours of laying on the couch researching I narrowed it down to Forme Solar. Did. Not. Disappoint. All this coronavirus talk had me paranoid so I thought of adding a backup unit to my existing panel just in case of outages. Telsa Powerwall and LG had some good options but for the cost and options provided, Forme Solar was a no-brainer. Installation went smooth as butter... Ended up upgrading our SolarEdge inverter, securing permits and setting up our critical energy loads. After talking with several companies around the LA/OC area, I felt the most comfortable with these guys especially how the were straightforward about different panels, inverters, and were good about giving me the information to make my decision. They also were able to give me a very competitive price for what I wanted compared to some other companies. As far as the ease of the process once I signed an agreement with them, they were quick to schedule an appointment to come look at my roof then soon after to come install. There were some issues during the installation (problems with the pre-wiring of my home not their fault) but they were able to figure out the problem and get everything installed perfectly. Their crew was great and were very good at trying to minimize the disturbance to us and our neighbors during installation. Very little delay after installation for the city to come inspect then change my meter and give me PTO. Overall the process took about 1 month. They have always been very responsive and easy to get in touch with during and even after everything was finished when I've had questions. We began investigating solar panel power in 2022. SoCal Edison referred us to Electrum, a company who put together the design specs and helped with soliciting bids from several installers. This process takes several weeks because the house had to be checked for structural roof/weight support and size, electrical panel capacity, roof condition, etc. We selected Forme Solar based on this research. We hit a snag when the SCE planning team said our panel was not adequate. Forme Solar worded with SCE to get a work-around, but this took several more weeks. Six months after signing our contract we had a solar panel installtion date. During the solar panel installation the Forme Solar electrician found that, upon closer inspection, our main electrical panel capacity was maxed out, there was no space for the solar parts. The solar panel install had to be called off. Forme Solar was unable to upgrade our panel, so we had to research and hire another electrician to provide the main electric panel upgrade (MPU). This MPU required building code underground conduit upgrades, and related design work to the SCE transformer. The MPU was nearly as costly as the solar panels. Since our old electric panel was maxed out we decided to proceed with the MPU because we wanted to install a 240v Level-2 electric vehicle charger. It took another six months to finish the MPU. Once this was completed, Forme Solar quickly scheduled the solar panel installation. Their work team finished actual solar panel installation job in one day. Fourteen months after deciding to "go solar" the project was complete. The new panels look great, they get lots of sunlight during sunny days, and are producing the output specified in the design. The Forme Solar installation team worked very efficiently, took great care working on the roof, and the electrician checked the panels and power output before leaving. The installation included an app that tracks the power output on my smartphone. It was a long and often frustrating process to get this done. We would have preferred to know about the costs of the electrical panel upgrade up front, at the time of the solar panel bid. We are happy to join the legion of homeowners capturing clean solar energy. read more

Spoke with Terry about an issue that I was seeing with my solar panels. It's been about 4 years since going solar and my inverter stopped working. I tried calling my original installer but they weren't in business, hard not to see why. Had Orme come out, and they were able to figure out the issue. II want to update my score by reflecting on the post-review actions and conversations I've had with the Forme Solar team. I can say confidently that their staff truly cares and wishes to provide the best possible experience to their customers. However, I feel that leadership may need to make some changes to create a better communication network within their organization, as Executives, Office Staff, and Technicians all seem to be on a different page when it comes to client management. I had several instances where office staff left emails and calls unreturned. At the same time, eventually, 3 Executives offered me their personal cell phone numbers so I could contact them at any time. Although I appreciate the gesture, this is not something they should need to do or would have to do if they were more organized. I'm afraid I have to disagree that employee turnover is the reason for their struggles. I had spoken to or was introduced to 8 different Forme employees over several months. Their communications and notes are not internally centralized and the teams seem to work in silos. In my opinion, they need fewer reps per customer and need to do a better job of communicating with their customers internally. I see this as an organization that can and will improve in time.
