I ate with fork and knife because I didn't want to eat all the bread. I wish there was a roulade sauce. Service was good. Could have checked on me after I received my food. This is one of the best meals I've ever had. The space is absolutely on point. So pretty and so trendy! But the food!!!! OMG! We started with some of the best mussels I've ever had. The iteration on the menu was a curry broth that was rich and light all at the same time. The menu has meat and 2 or more options. We had a FIVE STAR meal at such an amazing price! I got blackened catfish- perfectly cooked, moist and with just the right amount of spice. The grits were creamy and delicious, the coleslaw crispy and zingy, but y'all = the star of the show was the Mac and cheese. It was literally the BEST Mac and cheese I've ever had in my life. It's something you absolutely MUST put in your mouth! My partner had the smothered pork chop with candied yams and the most decadent mashed potatoes we've eaten. Also a five-star meal. I was in town for a couple of weeks and ended up at Forklift twice. Overall? Good. Nothing life-changing, but solid enough that I went back. Visit #1: I ordered the Voo Doo Tots and the prime filet. The tots? Okay, these were amazing. Like, I could've just eaten those and been happy. The steak was a solid prime filet--cooked well and enjoyable, even if it didn't quite steal the show from the tots. Visit #2: I tried the Chef's Charcuterie Board (which, plot twist, is served on a plate... not a board) and the Forklift Fried Chicken. The chicken plate was a little disappointing for me. The collard greens and cornbread were definitely "not how momma made them" (kidding... kind of). Still edible, just not memorable. Both visits left me satisfied, but it's more of a "stroll back" than a "run back" kind of place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, which always bumps a restaurant up a notch in my book. I didn't try one of their Old Fashioneds--apparently what they're known for--but I did go for the Fire of Mordor cocktail. Tequila-based, delicious, and honestly the name alone sold me. Cozy restaurant, and we had reservations both times even though it wasn't packed. Overall, Forklift is a nice spot to land for a good meal in Tupelo. read more

The food is amazing, service was good but not too quick as to rush you through the meal. I enjoyed my experience and would recommend it. I got the ribeye and it was delightful! The presentation of the food is top notch and the prices reflect the quality you receive. Place was decorated well, clean and enjoyable. The only downside is the parking, all parking is in the rear... however there's no rear entrance. I suppose this is done to keep the magic. We waited for nearly an hour to get our food, while tables around us ordered, were served and finished their meals. Our waiter did not check I. To explain the delay and when we questioned staff, they said that the kitchen got backed up.... But apparently not so backed up that they couldn't serve everyone else. When the food arrived, my Cuban was good but the coleslaw (a substitute for fries) was very bland. My husband had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and slaw and he said he wouldn't order any of that again. The service was awesome - the chef even came out to make sure everything was okay. And sitting at the bar, the conversation was wonderful and the drinks were delicious. My first time in Tupelo and you'll help me find a great dinner. Forklift was bordering on the edge of the residential area and as you enter through the front of the building with parking out back, it is a clean welcoming interesting space. I grabbed a seat at the bar and now I wasn't super hungry. I wanted something delicious and why did they deliver! I enjoyed scallops over course creamy grits and an amaretto stone sour. Pricing was very good and the service was excellent. If I'm ever back in Tupelo, I will be sure to drop in again. read more

Definitely the coolest restaurant in North MS. The NIN sticker in the kitchen is a nice touch and lets you know you've come to the right place. Chef Cooper is 100% legit. CF is better than average. If you have a chance, sit at the bar and watch Cooper do his thing. The food is always first class. The tots are the real deal. Service is great. Staff is very friendly, always in good spirits. Stopped in Tupelo again on our way from Florida to Kansas City and found this lovely place on Jackson Street. Chose out because we were stopping in early and read there was a great happy hour. No happy hour but a great food menu and cocktail menu and even better service. Denzel was informed and friendly and very helpful. Started with the Mississippi Old Fashioned which was beautiful and delicious. I couldn't decide between the grilled or raw oysters so did what any self-respecting woman would do and had them both. So very glad I did. Just perfect. The raw did not need anything but lemon juice and my tummy. The grilled were served with perfectly grilled and buttered bread. M had the blackened shrimp tacos that were perfectly grilled. Forgot to say we started with roasted beet and goat cheese salad. Recommended. This place is thought to be the top-shelf restaurant in the minds of many we spoke with on a stopover at Tupelo, Mississippi. There's good cause for this rating: * the food is tasty and presents well; * the location is central to areas around Tupelo; * and the foodstuffs are farm-to-table from the local area. The ambiance is region centric. All-in-all, this appears to be a great operation for the area. We stopped in as a party of two -- two travel journalists -- per the recommendation of a representative from the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau. We ordered two entrees: the Ribeye and the Braised Short Rib. Both were very good. The prices are high for these entrees at this establishment in this locale in our judgment. The Ribeye is good but too pricey at $38.00. The Short Rib is $28.00. If you follow our restaurant ratings on here you'll note we are all about the price-performance ratio of a business. Is the value there for the price charged? The quality is good here but the prices just do not jive for the area. If this were New York City or some other major metropolitan area the prices would make sense. But in Tupelo, these prices seem out of line. Great space, I recommend the bar at the cook line, if you like to see the sausage made. Great team that turns out impeccable dishes with excellent service. The Buffalo quail could be a meal unto itself and the carrot, celery and blue cheese slaw should be served by the bucket. Delicious! Had a great first experience at Forklift this past week with a group. We had the outdoor patio with a fire feature to keep us toasty and warm. Our waiter was quick, knowledgeable and friendly. Tasty appetizers like the short rib tots, barbecue shrimp and charcuterie were shared. The small wedge is the perfect pre-meal salad - so good. I was in town for work and we came across Forklift when looking for lunch options. Photos we saw of the cute inside is what sold us. The decor is very trendy and comfortable. I ordered the BLT Burger with the fries and I enjoyed both.I wouldn't say either were mind-blowing, but it was a good burger, and the fries had a really tasty sauce. For dessert, we ordered the Banana Pudding Cake, and we weren't disappointed. I don't like when the desserts aren't on the main menu and you have to ask the server for a dessert menu, or they just tell you what they have. I want to be prepared, look at what the options are, and know if I want to order something with time. I feel rushed or panicky when the server just tells me the options aloud. Which is what happened. Friendly servers made some great suggestions and we really enjoyed our food. This open area bar/restaurant had both tables, booths and a back room. Outside dining too. The open area led to bar and neighbor background noise but not bad. I tried the voodoo tots, patty melt and side of cheese grits. All was delicious and filling. Enough for two.
