I love coming to Romie's! Whether it's hanging at the bar for a beer with friends, hanging out on their patio listening to live music and entertainment, or dining with fry at supper time, love the people and menu. Great Southern starters from catfish bites or Romie's crawfish dip. Entrees range from ribeye, pork chops, catfish or chicken Romie which is a creamy crawfish, mushroom sauce (w/sherry or wine?) deliciousness. They also have delicious sides from sweet potato fries, sautéed greens, garlic mash potatoes, fried green tomatoes (delicious), cheesy grits (yum), corn salad, grilled veggies and more. They also have great entree salads from a Sante Fe chicken salad, chicken Greek or Caesar salads or spinach salads. Service is awesome, bar tending ladies are great/friendly and fun!

The atmosphere was good but not particularly interesting, I wish I had sat outside. Service was good from everyone. The bread and side salad were both fresh and very good. The Buffalo Mac and cheese was good but not great. Food - 4 Service - 5 Atmosphere - 4

On our way to Memphis we decided to venture off the road and visit what appeared to be an old rehabbed neighborhood corner store. I am so glad we did. This is a super cute restaurant with exceptional food and a kick add outdoor patio/deck with live music!! The portion are large snd the prices are great. Staff was organized and wicked friendly service was fast!!! Elvis would approve Don't be mad at your momma after eating here.

Pimento cheese bacon burger ($13) with cheese grits side

Romie's Grocery was pretty quiet on a weeknight, and we scored a rockstar parking space right in front. We decided to sit inside; there were a few parties on the patio where live music could be heard. Service was attentive and friendly. Everyone seemed laid-back and easygoing. I ordered the pimento cheese bacon burger ($13). The side choices mentioned on the menu for sandwiches were home fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings, but you were allowed to pick from the sides section too, for no additional charge. In that case, I decided to go with the cheese grits. There were a whopping eight other items to choose from! The pimento cheese was my favorite aspect of the burger. It was oozy in the right way and had a reasonable amount of pimentos. The patty was okay; the kitchen isn't able to cook it to your preferred temperature, and well done is what you're gonna get. The thick bacon slices were fine but got kinda lost under all the cheese. The bun was unnecessarily buttered. The cheese grits side was a generous portion but got lumpier and stiff as time went on. The overall meal was a bit too heavy for my preference, and I felt it for a while. If in the area again, I'd be willing to return to Romie's Grocery and try something else. I definitely liked the relaxed atmosphere and nice employees.

Stayed in Tupelo and decided to give this awesome place a try. We started with the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. The batter is light and crispy. Just the right amount of seasoning. I ordered the catfish dinner. I chose garlic mashed potatoes and sweet chili roasted Brussels sprouts OMG!!! So very delicious. My husband had the peel + eat shrimp dinner. It came with 1 lb. Shrimp, potatoes and corn. Seasoning and as spot on, potatoes and corn cooked to perfection. Great casual meal. The service was attentive without overbearing. We also enjoyed the atmosphere. We would love to return here again!

This is a very impressive restaurant. It looks like there are at least two big rooms to sit at. One is the dining room you walk in. The other big room is outside but has roof over it and walls. I did not sit in this room but looks like cool place to sit at if the weather is nice. Anyway, this restaurant used to be a grocery store stated my waitress. I guess they just kept the name. Menu items ordered: fried catfish, fried green tomatoes, cornbread and some delicious corn salad. The corn salad was one of my sides. It tasted absolutely delicious. As I sit here thinking about it, my mouth waters. Anyway, the food tasted great. Next time I come, I hope they have it that day. The catfish was good and the fried green tomatoes hit the right spot. I will probably come back since they took care of me. I got checked on numerous times and she even asked if I wanted desert. I hardly ever get desert as much as I eat out.

Gimme gimme some greasy deep fried soul food! In the event you find yourself having a heart attack after your meal, a hospital is conveniently located 5 blocks down the road. - Deep fried catfish - good quality fish, soft and melty, bread-crust was crusty and light in flavors - Deep fried green tomatoes - authentic sh*t, very good - Purple Hull peas - tasty but just remember to roll down your windows an hr after your meal, poison gas may be emitted... - Corn salad - ok * 1 meat item + 3 sides + corn bread = $6.95, portions so large this could feed 3 people! Y'all should get some!!! (said w/ southern accent)

The food was amazing. Beer was cold and nice live music on the patio. Whatever you order get the crawfish dip over it.

Visit #1: I ordered the Voo Doo Tots and the prime filet. The tots? Okay, these were amazing. Like, I could've just eaten those and been happy. The steak was a solid prime filet--cooked well and enjoyable, even if it didn't quite steal the show from the tots. Visit #2: I tried the Chef's Charcuterie Board (which, plot twist, is served on a plate... not a board) and the Forklift Fried Chicken. The chicken plate was a little disappointing for me. The collard greens and cornbread were definitely "not how momma made them" (kidding... kind of). Still edible, just not memorable. Both visits left me satisfied, but it's more of a "stroll back" than a "run back" kind of place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, which always bumps a restaurant up a notch in my book. I didn't try one of their Old Fashioneds--apparently what they're known for--but I did go for the Fire of Mordor cocktail. Tequila-based, delicious, and honestly the name alone sold me. Cozy restaurant, and we had reservations both times even though it wasn't packed. Overall, Forklift is a nice spot to land for a good meal in Tupelo.

Well unfortunately I have waited too long in writing my review. However I couldn't let it go…read morewithout one. We were headed back from AR from a graduation and while staying in Tupelo found this restaurant close to our hotel. Not from being around the area weren't real sure about it but only because we were not seeing a lot of food items we liked. However because it was close by our hotel and the star rating was high, we decided to try it out. Oh my gosh; I am so glad we did. Even months ago enjoying our food to now, I can still remember how amazingly tasty our food was. My hubby and I shared the Dirty Grains with greens and things. We both have never had greens in our lives, but our server told us they were very scrumptious at the Blue Canoe. She was spot on!! They were delicious, really the entire meal was DELISH!! I am so glad we shared the dish because it was a lot and very filling. Now the restaurants famous sauce that is made fresh every day is worth its weight in gold. Our server has been there a very long time and she said she is the gal who makes it daily. I can't really explain the taste but it is very, very tasty. We were so full and it as going to pass on dessert. Of course our server told us about their dessert that is #1 on the menu...Connie's Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding (pictured). Once again super scrumptious and worth every calorie. If you are new to the area I highly recommend a trip to the Blue Canoe. It doesn't look like much outside and inside it can seem like a dive. It isn't because it's been around d a while and the ambiance is really cool!! The parking lot gets quite full and was just a bit challenging to maneuver our large 250 GMC truck but we managed. This place is a gem and well worth our visits when we are traveling through. I'd love to go when they have live music but not sure when we will be driving through.
