Bishop's BBQ is great place to stop and have some down home, backyard style BBQ. The staff is generally friendly, and the food is pretty good. My family really enjoys their pulled pork, potato salad, and French fries. Great BBQ in the southern style. Very moist beef brisket that was outstandingly prepared. The moist meat was so tender, not overdone. The added sauces made it spectacular. The pulled pork was also moist and hot. The temperature was served nice and hot that was an extra surprise. Fried green tomatoes were cut nicely and seasoned as was the fried okra, tender on the inside and nicely done. Baked beans and green beans were really good too and not overcooked. I paid $18 for a half pound of well-done, very dry brisket. it was thinly sliced, likely for their sandwich. It's the type of sliced beef brisket you'd expect to order at a theme park, seriously. Very, very tough/chewy. The good reviews have to be for their pork/turkey. Anyone who has left a positive review of the brisket has never had good moist brisket. This place was reco'd to us as we were passing through while driving the Natchez Trace. There were 6 of us traveling together and we ALL loved what we got. My husband and I got the pulled pork regular sandwich combo that included a drink and one side. We both got the baked beans and they were probably the best we've ever had! This was an excellent place to stop for dinner. The prices are excellent and they also have options to buy a whole Boston butt ! Ribs are super tender! Jazzy bbq sauce delicious for my toddler. The hot version could use a lil more (maybe a lot) kick to it. First time for gator fries and they're like swirly, crispy potato skins. Perfectly seasoned. Husband thoroughly enjoyed his rib eye too. They sold strawberry cupcake and the counter and even that was delicious! Great prices, awesome flavors. One of the better bbq (ribs) in my books! read more

We are visiting from Nashville and stopped at this BBQ joint. Was pleasantly surprised by the prices- we got 2 sandwich meals which come with a side and a drink, plus 1 extra side and our total was about $20. The food for the value was spot on. Ordered at the counter and sat at a table- they brought the food out to us. Nice and friendly service. The clear winner of the things we had was the baked beans. Just the right amount of sweet to savory and left us wanting more. Next up would be the smoked pulled chicken. Very juicy, so much so it actually made the bottom of the bun soggy, but the taste was great. Pulled pork after that- perfect amount of smoke and seasoning. Fried pickles were next- sliced in long strips instead of chips which was different and cool. The breading was light and the pickles tasted good. The kickin ranch was good but could use more heat. My 2 least favorites would be the cole slaw, just was very dry and needed more juice. The Mac and cheese just did not belong at this place- it was like the Mac and cheese you get in a microwave dinner. No flavor at all, overall I think this place deserves a 4.5 out of 5. I tried their jumbo version along with a half order of macho nachos. Without a doubt, the best pulled pork bbq sandwich (with the right combo&ratio of bbq sauce) I've ever had. The nachos, just try them! The combo w/ drink was more than enough food for under $13!!!! But, the meat was very good flavor and tender, and I could have made the sweet potatoes the centerpiece of my meal. Looked like a serious portion of the business is carry-out, but there is a modest amount of inside seating too. Service was polite and we did not wait long for the food to arrive at our table. Thanks to Yelp, we made a detour off the interstate to grab some lunch and had the best smoked chicken we've ever tasted! We liked the jazzy bbq sauce so much we bought some to take home. Another yelper had commented that the baked beans were the best he'd ever tasted and we agreed with that expert opinion. I was wishing I had brought a cooler on this trip so I could bring all my leftovers because the portions are big, but I settled for just bringing my chicken which should keep for a while. We are from out of town and stopped by this tiny little place after a busy day in downtown Tupelo. Don't let the size of this place keep you from trying it. Everything we ordered was delicious! Pulled pork was tender and the portions were generous. Potato salad and cole slaw were above par. Grandson said the angus burger was the best ever. I ordered the brisket, fried onions and fried green tomatoes ... oh my, they were all awesome. Brisket had a nice smoke ring and was very tender and juicy. This is one of my favorite BBQ places. The meat ranges from very good to slightly fatty, portions are large and a nice smoke flavor. The sauces are fantastic. All their sides are great, from homemade potato chips to deep fried crusty onion rings. Great beans with a thick hickory sauce. Texas Toast cooked decently and full of butter every time. I've had almost everything on the menu, and none of it disagreed with me. Top it off with fair prices and friendly people. Hard to beat. Only downside to this location is that it's a little small and not much parking. read more
