Bar staff was amazing...salads were great...pot liquor shot my wife loved and top shelf margaritas were tasty.

Well unfortunately I have waited too long in writing my review. However I couldn't let it go without one. We were headed back from AR from a graduation and while staying in Tupelo found this restaurant close to our hotel. Not from being around the area weren't real sure about it but only because we were not seeing a lot of food items we liked. However because it was close by our hotel and the star rating was high, we decided to try it out. Oh my gosh; I am so glad we did. Even months ago enjoying our food to now, I can still remember how amazingly tasty our food was. My hubby and I shared the Dirty Grains with greens and things. We both have never had greens in our lives, but our server told us they were very scrumptious at the Blue Canoe. She was spot on!! They were delicious, really the entire meal was DELISH!! I am so glad we shared the dish because it was a lot and very filling. Now the restaurants famous sauce that is made fresh every day is worth its weight in gold. Our server has been there a very long time and she said she is the gal who makes it daily. I can't really explain the taste but it is very, very tasty. We were so full and it as going to pass on dessert. Of course our server told us about their dessert that is #1 on the menu...Connie's Blueberry Doughnut Bread Pudding (pictured). Once again super scrumptious and worth every calorie. If you are new to the area I highly recommend a trip to the Blue Canoe. It doesn't look like much outside and inside it can seem like a dive. It isn't because it's been around d a while and the ambiance is really cool!! The parking lot gets quite full and was just a bit challenging to maneuver our large 250 GMC truck but we managed. This place is a gem and well worth our visits when we are traveling through. I'd love to go when they have live music but not sure when we will be driving through. read more

Very rude waitress. Came in and sat down at a table. Was very rudely told that we needed to be on a waiting list. There was no one at the door to seat us or tell us that. When we asked where we could be put on a waiting list, the same waitress very rudely told us to go to the bar to be entered in the waiting list. Left the establishment and will not be back. We were very excited about trying this place, but will not be putting up with rude waitresses like this lady. read more

This place seemed like a real local gem and I knew I wanted to come here in some capacity during our time in Tupelo. We took the plunge for dinner, our main meal of the day, so expectations were high. We walked in and a decent number of people in ear was basically a packed place turned to look at us. Normally I would shit myself but in this case, it was friendly looks. I could make out some smiles. Even though we are definitely not from around here, I felt welcomed. The bar was one of the few places that had some available real estate so we sat in between two other parties. We were greeted immediately by the bartender and I had to make a game time decision which was assisted by the wall of drafts only a few feet from my face on the wall behind the bar. GF and I chose two beers we had never heard of and were in business. We looked through the menu. We had initially planned on sharing a couple apps (the fries with crack sauce and fried black eyed peas) but we were so full from those two apps we had no room for anything else. the inside is also super cool. We had recommendations to be sure and eat here and to get there early. We arrived around 4:30 and parking lot was already almost full! Our server Melissa was excellent. This was an interesting and fun spot to stop for dinner while in town. The food was AMAZING!! Fried bologna sandwich, salmon BLT and the cheeseburger sliders were SO good! The ladies serving were on top of everything and super sweet!! The number of incredibly talented musicians who have played there over the years, was impressive. The young man, Camden Morris, who was playing when we were there was wonderful. I loved this time with my family while in MS!! Made memories and ate some great food!! The food that we had was good, but they were out of a few things that everybody wanted to try and the reason that we went there for only given it three stars because the bartender was a little rude and because one of the people that came with us ask for refills the waitress literally said well I need to know if there's anything else you want cause I got a table of 11 that I need to take care of and I don't know when I'll be back. Food is creative, taps are local craft brews, the service is not only stellar but completely knowledgeable. The ambience is a local bar/gastropub. And it was packed. Without it, I'd be halfway to Memphis or NOLA chasing something with half as much soul. BC's got grit AND flavor. it also has creative, simple, honest, stick-to-your-ribs food. Staff pushes out drinks and plates with a swagger that makes you feel like a regular, even if it's your first night. the beer's cold, and the music is diverse and usually doesn't suck. So, I walked in and sat the bar. The bartender had a bit of sass and that was awesome. She was super sweet and helpful helping me choose my dinner. She made all of the recommendations and was absolutely spot on!!!! The restaurant is an interesting place with a very creative menu that is all over the place. I was very impressed and surprised that the food was so good and it all was so very different. Appetizer: fried black eyed peas----absolutely delicious Entrée ---Thai noodle chicken bowls. I have come to this place maybe 10 times over a 3 weeks period, and did not find out about it until about a week into my trip. The food is great and service is top notch with a Sassy Bartender.... For starters my wife and I drove over 400 miles to just eat here. BC is such a relaxing atmosphere you can't help but fall in love with the place. We have had several things on the menu before, for this trip we stared with the black eyed peas then I went with the BC burger and my wife went with the shrimp tacos. Everting is always over the top. As far as service goes it's like they are always one step ahead of you. We went 2 days later for lunch and our waitress from our previous dinner recognized us and came over and talked to us. This place is as exactly as promised. They sat our large group immediately at 6pm on a Saturday night. Our waitress was prompt, nice, and took care of us. She even rang in a beer refill for me to make sure it got in before happy hour ended. I got the crawfish and beef burger and it was juicy and very flavorful. I've never been disappointed here! Blue Canoe may look like a bit of a whole in the wall place... because it is. It's small and crowded inside, and you may have trouble hearing your dining companions. I'm here to tell you that it's all worth it! Their food is absolutely delicious! I can highly recommend their crack dip fries, wings, burgers, and their shrimp tacos personally but I'm not sure you can go wrong with anything off of their menu. I thought it was okay but I could only eat about a half of it, so if you really hungry this might be one for you. What a hidden gem ! This non assuming plain looking building in the legendary Tupelo Ms. has everything, you walk in and you're instantly greeted with hellos from the server Tammy and bartender. Cool, bluesy Memphis feel. We went in a Konday, which is a) Monday Night Football (I.e., no live music) and b) Wing night (yay!) We started with the avocado fries as an appetizer. I enjoyed the bite when you combined it with a crawfish tail. D doesn't like crawfish, and found it bland without the added kick of the crawfish The dry rub wings were excellent. Best I've had in a long time. Spicy and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, not overcooked. I had the Smashburger, and it was outstanding! The smoked flavor really comes through. The start of the party was the Blueberry donut bread pudding. Oh. My. Gosh!! One of the best desserts I've ever tasted -- right up there with the Double Chocolate Bread pudding from my favorite restaurant in New Orleans, which is my favorite dessert ever. If you like blueberries and bread pudding, save room for dessert. It's worth the calories!!!
