I don't live in Tupelo, I'm here for emergency management. I really wanted to find a place with traditional Greek food or at least a good gyro that wasn't a chain restaurant. I think Apple Maps found this for me, and if I didn't work 90 hours a week and they didn't close at 10 I'd probably be here a lot more than I should. Food was on point. The bar was awesome. Staying in a hotel because of the ice storm and was happy to see Tupelo had a restaurant that serves this type of food. This food was a delicious comfort. Very flavorful and great portion for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place had a great aesthetic and atmosphere. On our drive home we approached Tupelo, MS getting hungry for dinner. A search found several restaurants... and searching and finding "Mediterranean" to describe Amsterdam Deli & Grill has us suspecting we'd find good, gluten free food there... and we DID! On our way there, from I-22, we drove by Elvis's birthplace, and shared some rock n roll history with our daughter... then 3-4 minute later we were in downtown Tupelo, parking and walking around the corner to Amsterdam. I took the dog for a longer walk, and we explored a really nice downtown; beyond a few Elvis historical markers is a town with several nice restaurants and shops, a theater, and the County Hall, with a nice yard for playing fetch. As we approached the restaurant our daughter let me know that they welcome dogs who are well behaved, so we went in. Noor and her family have a wonderful restaurant with a great staff that served wonderful food. The ladies had ordered and we enjoyed: - Salad - Pita & hummus - Steak kabob, with veggies & pita - Chicken kabob, with veggies & pita - Awesome fries - great spices The other patrons are friendly and we met several. Noor is also friendly and took time on a busy night to get to know us and to tell the story of her family's travels from Palestine to Cleveland to Tupelo, serving many wonderful meals to wonderful people along the way. Noor shared that the restaurant's name is related to her aunt's desire to own a tobacco shop, inspired by ones she experienced visiting Amsterdam. The atmosphere was amazing. The music was on point. The service wasn't spectacular but our wait or was alright. He didn't pay attention to how over cooked our steak was or how cold our lamb skewers were. so if you decide to go make sure you don't order anything hot. read more

Good food, alright portions, but really slow wait staff. Our drinks were given to us 5 minutes after we ordered them (with two other tables in store) and we were not checked up on once. 1 star to Amsterdam Deli for serving me rotten spinach in the Amsterdam Deli salad, ZERO stars to Door Dash customer service who couldn't even process a refund! Door Dash policy wasn't even to call the restaurant to say they have a potential for food borne illness and food poisoning to other customers that order this, shameful. I at least called the restaurant to let them know, the gal that answered the phone, kitchen and manager tried to make things right but had no way to refund me, they said only Door Dash can - 4 stars for the restaurant staff who tried to make things right, great customer service. I really love Amsterdam Deli, one of my go to's in Tupelo ... I'm always recommending it. However tonight was disappointing and unfortunately it was a to-go order. I had the hummus and pita with chicken schwarma, my usual, but the pita was either stale or over baked. It's hard and crunchy which I really don't prefer. On a recent long road trip from Arkansas to Georgia during the pandemic, I found myself stretching my legs and taking pictures of Elvis in Tupelo, Mississippi. I parked in front of Tupelo Hardware (where Elvis's Mom bought his first guitar) and came across Amsterdam Deli a few doors down. Because of the virus rules, I had to call from the front of the store for curbside pickup. The young lady who both took and brought out my order was very friendly and as accommodating as she could be under the circumstances. The falafel wrap was very good. Fresh and a good portion size. Potato salad and a 32oz beer growler to go made it a great picnic lunch. Would highly recommend for a good lunch if visiting Elvis's birthplace! read more

Outdoor dining, downtown vibe, people watching spot. We've stopped for drinks on the sidewalk and people watching in the past and decided to bring friends for the festival and eat here after a really bad experience at another local restaurant in the alley. It was packed but after they cleared and cleaned a table we were seated. Our server was great. (That seems to be SO RARE these days) He was friendly, knew the menu, made suggestions, kept our drinks filled, was attentive enough. Everyone ordered something different to try and we were all pleased with our selections. This was an enjoyable dining experience (something that has become so hard to find in this town) and we'll be back. We tipped heavy to show our appreciation. From all I could tell this is a family-owned business and some of the food was named after the owners' children. Also our server was really nice. An otherwise decent experience was damaged by problems with online menu access, service and signage. They had no official web site to view an up-to-date menu beforehand. Their Facebook page's link was broken. I checked customer-photographed pictures of their menu on the third-party Menupix web site. I called in a pick-up order at 11:45am for a 7 inch "pita" Smoke Signals Pizza, which features smoked salmon, which I saw on their menu posted to Menupix. I had to ask for clarification on whether "pita" meant sandwich or pizza. The server did not know what a Smoke Signals Pizza was, so I said it had salmon on it, and she told me they did not have that, so I ordered a Veggie Pizza instead and a large soda. I was told my order would take 20 minutes, so I waited until 12:05pm to pick it up. There was a sign on the door requiring masks to enter, but none of the staff inside were wearing masks. There were no signs showing where to pick up orders, so I walked to the back near the kitchen. When I asked about my order, they told me it was not ready yet. It took an additional 13 minutes to get my food, for a total wait time of 33 minutes. They did not give me the large soda I ordered, but I had run out of time and needed to leave immediately to get back to work on time and still have enough time to eat. I left a $2 (22%) tip despite the experience. No staff thanked me for coming as I left. I added one star because the pizza was decent. This will be my first and last experience with Amsterdam Deli. It has potential to be great. They're just really missing the mark. First of all, this location is relatively new and the stuff that's just kind of scattered along the counter near the food area is insanely unappealing. The servers sort of wore a mask, but really didn't. One person was chowing down on potato salad in the kitchen area near the front counter and talking. Nobody preparing food was wearing a mask at all. We ordered gyro nachos to start. They were excellent. So, since they were good, we decided to go for more food. We should have stopped at the nachos. I ordered the Italian beef with provolone and a side salad. My partner ordered New York something or another.. it was basically a rueben. Both sandwiches left a lot to be desired. Mine was lacking the cheese I ordered. My server said "they forgot to put it on.. I can bring a piece over or we can make you a new one". I just opted to eat it as is. Very little meat in mine. It was ok at best. Hers.. so she had to pull a big chunk of meat out of her mouth because it was thick and gristle filled. The bread was mushy, and the sandwich was pressed like a panini so it was just basically a squished rueben with thick sliced meat. The music. Oh my gosh, it was like a mix of rap, hip hop and a dance club "hits". I'm not sure who is choosing the playlist, maybe the servers have control of it, but someone else please play the DJ! Upon exiting, we had 3 Togo boxes and a small ramekin of dressing. We were not offered a bag. I dropped my dressing and it thankfully stayed intact. I recommend bill presenters instead of just a bill on the table. Unless it was an attempt at covid precautions, in which case, why?? Nobody is wearing their mask properly and the kitchen staff didn't have one on at all. I'd also recommend finding a better place to stack umbrellas and high chairs. This restaurant has a very bleak future if they don't make some adjustments. read more

great place, we stopped in here after the Birthplace house of Elvis, and we got the hummus, 2 gyros and i got the falafel wrap. best falafel in my life. the hummus was some of the best we ever had. my wrap originally came out as just fried balls of falafel but they fixed it within 2-3 minutes. quick service, friendly staff and awesome food. thanks for the vegan options! read more

This is hands down the best place now in Tupelo. With great music outside, great decor inside and amazing food. The kabobs are juicy and they accompanying salads are a delight. I don't know if it's lemon juice or something but their Palestinian salad is so fresh . The falafel appetizer is a big portion , always tasty.
