The location is in the heart of Tupelo Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis! The area is upscale and little did we know that the restaurant was part of the Tupelo Hotel...quite trendy. I had the Jobos breakfast sandwich- Texas toast w/ Benton's bacon, scrambled eggs, havarti cheese and an aji verde - that was the kicker! Excellent flavor. Our waitress was friendly and cordial. Website shows Dinner 3pm to 9pm. We arrived at 230 and thwy told us Jobos closed at 3pm. Very disappointed. Updating review, 1st day had coffee around 840. At 915 the work was telling me they close at 930 so i would need to cacate. I couldnt sit after 930 and enjoy my coffee? That area is a nice sit down area to enjoy my coffee and read beyond the 930 time. It is roaped off until 3pm. Again a nice place to sit down read, work on laptop, but we are not allowed in this area. I really think this should be re-thought. Allow people who have a room in the hotel to be in the area )not the bar counter) as it is a comfortable place to sit and visit, play board games etc. The next morning 925 I arrived to get a cup of coffee and they had already dumped the coffee. First, just be aware that prices have gone way up since the last menus were posted (posting new ones here), so be prepared for sticker shock. I stuck with the basic burger, adding Swiss cheese, and was more than satisfied with the size and the included fries. The side of slaw I added was not what I expected -- the cabbage was very finely grated and the flavor was heavy on the acidic end; could have used a touch more sweet and maybe some carrots (might have been in there, couldn't tell). The decor is colorful and fun, with a big high ceiling. I stayed at the adjoining Hotel Tupelo, so I took my leftover fries up to the room for later. I saw several couples there on what seemed to be dates, and there was a pair of doctors in scrubs at the table next to me, simultaneously eating supper and attending some kind of online seminar. A large group of teachers from a state conference occupied a group table, and the atmosphere was lively. Noise level is fairly high. read more

I've been here a couple of times. This time the restaurant was festive for the holidays. I tried two tacos (fish and shrimp) this time around and I was unimpressed by them. They were very bland. Our waitress was really nice and accommodated our group. Jobos is located inside the fairly new Hotel Tupelo and just a short walk from Cadence Bank Arena, which makes it super convenient. We came here for dinner one night, and while the experience started off rocky, it turned around quickly. There were several empty tables by the windows, so we asked our waitress if we could sit at one of them. She said no and told us that section was closed. The restaurant is narrow and was nearly empty, so it felt odd that those tables weren't available. She was also pretty rude about it. But then the manager came out, apologized immediately, and told us of course we could sit there. She even mentioned she'd been having issues with that particular waitress. Her quick response and professionalism honestly made the whole situation a non-issue and earned this place five stars right off the bat. As for the food, I ordered the burger, and it was great. They have some really good-looking cocktails, though I didn't try any that night. My friend ordered the shrimp cocktail as her main meal and enjoyed it. I was in Tupelo looking for something different and I came across Jobos. I didn't realize it was a hotel restaurant at first but what the heck, I'll give it a try. Located inside of Hotel Tupelo. You enter the restaurant through the hotel and it's a beautiful boutique hotel, very cool! As I approached the restaurant I asked the young lady working what would she recommend but she had only been working there a few days. As I scanned the menu I spotted The Jobos Butter Burger made with a Short Rib Grind, Benton's Bacon, Herb Butter, pickles with a side of Parmesan Fries. I love a good burger. While I waited on my food I took some pics and every employee I encountered was pleasant. I got back and assembled my burger and it was Delicious!!!! Juicy!! The most Flavor Filled Burger I've had in some time. Every Burger from now on needs to be made with a Short Rib Grind. The fries were good, I've had better. I ordered the wings, they were a bit salty but still good, and a side of fries. The fries were delicious and came out piping hot. I had a skinny margarita to drink, which was good. It has been about a year or so since we have been to Jobos. We had been visiting (as a get away) for the past 2 years. We loved the vibe and overall experience. We came back end of July. The vibe was off! Sunday was like shut off at the bar aftwr 3pm nort good, and we did not have access to the bar area to play the checkers or shuffel board. We were forced to go on 2nd floor balcony where a bounch of teenagers were overtaking the area. Im very certain they were not patrons of Hotel Tupelo as they kept taking the side steps in and out of the hotel. Has hotel Tupelo & Jobos lost its? This is/was our place to go to get out of town in Columbus MS. Wondering if we need to look at other places to get away. I hope they really look into this vibe that has changed. They should consider staying open till 6pm on sunday. And make sure the ataff is vetting people the enter the building. I brought my wife back here Aug 2nd 26 for her birthday because she had faith it was (last visit) a fluk. Well here we are and same same. I hope this review is taken serious. Of course I had to start with my typical Old Fashioned. It seems to be a good starting point for evaluation. It was made with Bulleit, and I appreciated them asking if I had another preference. I liked the shape of the glass... easy to pick up and hold. And there was a good portion in there for em. Nice ice cube - actually a cube and not a sphere. And the slice of orange zest was perfect. I did miss my muddled cherries, but it was very good overall. I started with the Soup and Grilled Cheese. The star of the dish was definitely the soup. A "ginger chicken" soup had a very deep complex flavor. Very "heart" chicken flavor, and the ginger / pepper seasoning was perfect. The sandwich was "panini style". I was not expecting that. It was very good though, and a perfect pair for the Soup. .the only change I would make would be a deeper bowl to retain the temperature... uncooked off kinda quick, and I like my soup hot... I finished with their fundido con chorizo.... Or Choriqueso where I come from. Very nice queso with a nice helping of chorizo on top. It was served in a "cast iron mini-skillet, which kept it very nice and toasty warm. The chips were awesome! Thin enough to not overwhelm the dip, but strong enough to be the perfect spoon! I am complaining about the treatment of their workers. They recently let a worker go to give one of the manager's daughters a job. This employee went to the DR. and came back with a DR excuse, then they started telling her "they didn't think she wanted to be their", even thought she had not been absent. They did not tell her she had been let go.She noticed she wasn't on the schedule.They told her because she had a written request, for a day around Christmas she didn't want to be their? I had very high expectations for this place going in given both the ambience and somewhat sophisticated menu for the area. I went for brunch and got the guac and salsa as an appetizer. I was not impressed. The guac was extremely thin and didn't have much flavor. For the main entree I ordered the Banh mi and it was incredible. All the flavors worked well together and it was both crispy and soft. Because of the sandwhich I am going to try this place again, but for dinner! The ambience was really nice, and probably the highlight for us. The food was mixed. Humus was different, but really good. Wife got Simple Fish Grouper. It was super salty and pretty "fishy" definitely wouldn't re-order. The potatoes and salad that came with were good. Burger was good but way too salty as well. Going to have "regerts" later. Unfortunately, I had a very bizarre and pretty uncomfortable experience eating lunch here today. My daughter and I came in and things started off nicely. I have their rotating old-fashioned and my daughter enjoyed a scoop of vanilla ice cream since she wasn't particularly hungry. I ordered the pork bao buns and the deviled eggs. The pork buns were really tasty and the pork belly was nicely crisp but still soft in the middle. I also like the pickles that came with it. Deviled eggs on the other hand, were not great. The egg whites were super overcooked, very rubbery and it made me think they were possibly just using pre-cooked hard boiled eggs like you can buy at the grocery store. Texturally, it just really wasn't enjoyable between the tough whites and a sort of soupy filling. They were topped with thick, unseasoned pieces of raw jalapeño, and Sriracha, which kind of messed with the flavors and made the eggs hard to enjoy. The server noticed I wasn't really touching them and came over to inquire, I let her know that I just didn't think they were very good and didn't want them. I let her know I'd be happy to pay for them or if she decided to take them off the bill, I'd be happy to tip her extra to make up for it. Either way was fine with me. Now here comes the uncomfortable part. After taking them back, another employee came over, clearly, some sort of manager, and with her arms folded and glaring at me, standing at my table, she asked pretty loudly "what was wrong with the deviled eggs?" - I replied with the same issues that I shared with the server. She then pretty aggressively asked "did you read the menu before you ordered them"? I was frankly, a little taken a back, and asked her why she was asking me that question. Of course I read the menu before ordering my food. She was very rudely implying that if I had taken the time to read the menu and its ingredients, I would have known I wouldn't like the deviled eggs. I told her I didn't like the way she was talking to me and I didn't understand why we were having to have this conversation, considering I had already offered to pay for them. She then repeated herself even more loudly "I'd like to know if you read the menu before you placed your order". At that point, I told her we were done speaking and I wasn't going to continue this weird confrontation with her. We got the check, of course the deviled eggs were still on them, I paid the bill and tipped the waitress 20% since she did nothing wrong and really everyone else at the restaurant was very nice from the hostess to another manager that was helping run drinks. But talk about an uncomfortable experience! I rarely ever want to insist something be taken off a bill but if you're going come over and ask me how the food is, and something on the table is really not very good, I'm at least going to be honest with you. Most restaurants take this criticism to heart and apologize, or at least in general are polite about it. I have no idea if she was having a bad day or if she is somehow heavily involved in the deviled egg cooking process back in the kitchen or what - but it was an experience I've thankfully never had before and hopefully we'll never have again. I was there to check out the location because I was considering having a small birthday party there on Monday for some family in town, but obviously I'll be doing that elsewhere after this experience. It's really unfortunate since everyone else there seemed so sweet, but considering the price of this food and all the great options in Tupelo, I can easily take my money elsewhere. read more

Jobos sits in the first floor of Hotel Tupelo on adorable Main st. They call themselves a surf and turf restaurant but it's mostly shrimp, beef and chicken. The hotel restaurant vibe is chill, kind of beachy, I think there's a Puerto Rico theme. They offer a pretty vast bar menu with craft cocktails and Mocktails. I had the shrimp and grits, they were really good, a little spicy, but great flavor. My husband had the meat stack with egg, he thought it could use more flavor. Our server was great, the service was just a little slow. The place was pretty packed on a Friday night. On either side of us sat locals so it must be a pretty good place for drinks, food, and meetups. read more

It's a restaurant that thinks it wants to be Puerto Rican, but then tries to pull off southern/asian/latin fusion by putting sofrito and aji on everything. Who in PR is serving ginger noodles? The ginger noodles are cheap dried ramen noodles in a salty broth topped with some weird aji sauce, pork belly chunks and a few shrimp. All of our food was served cold to warm. It's overpriced cheap ingredients thrown together in an attempt to appease anyone's palate, but fails on all accounts. We canceled dessert and got out of there.
