Best thing about road trips is discovering new eating spots. That was the case of Fork and Spoon. As we were heading back home, we decided on a last stop to dine before leaving and found this great place. I don't know if this place is a chain or not, but I'd never heard of it and was pretty impressed with the huge menu. I also liked that they offered both breakfast, as well as, lunch and dinner. Prices were very affordable and food was tasty. I ordered the Oma's plate, which consists of two eggs done to taste, country fried potatoes and a crepe. Honestly, that crepe was the selling point for me. I mean, how many places serve crepes as a meal side. It was the perfect meal with savory and sweet. My mom ordered the German Hotdog - a bratwurst on a hoagie with sauerkraut, and also, ordered some of their Bavarian potato salad. She didn't like the salad, but I thought was pretty good. All in all, it was an excellent food experience and we decided that we were certainly going back. read more

I always enjoy getting the mediterranean skillet with garlic cream sauce! It's packed with enough protein, fiber, and carbs! The place is very clean, and the staff are also very kind and efficient as well as fast! It can be extremely full on Sundays, but they still manage! I highly recommend this establishment! This breakfast & lunch place is one of New Braunfels treasures and one of my top favorites. It has a generic American name but with German featured dishes and influences. I can rarely say this about any restaurant but everything I've tried has been delicious!: Their Mediterranean Skillet or bowl, the quiche of the day with a delicious spinach salad topped with their homemade poppy seed dressing, their most-delicious pancakes, French toast made with their in-house baked bread topped with creamy butter, sausage grits, side of broccoli with its perfect tenderness and flavor, their home fried potatoes -mmmmm, outstandingly grilled salmon (not fishy tasting) salad but I prefer the poppy seed dressing over their pesto (tastes like wheat grass to me) and feta over the parmesan. My only disappointment is that they close at 3:00 everyday. So I can only dine here on Saturdays and maybe a Sunday after church. I can always go the takeout route for lunch during the week if I needed to, but don't care for styrofoam containers. I've never had an issue with the service except over-the-phone. Their food is not overpriced. It is very reasonably priced with quality ingredients. This place gets crazy crowded during the Saturday breakfast rush so there is often an hour wait. TL;DR - Excellent service and great food. Can't wait come back again and try some of the German specialties for lunch! Had the opa's plate and bratwurst skillet. Standard breakfast plate with bacon, eggs, potatoes and a house baked biscuit, but extremely well executed. Eggs were cooked perfectly, potatoes were crisp and well seasoned. Bacon was crispy and the biscuit was fluffy and warm. The jaeger gravy was amazing! (Came with the bratwurst skillet). Wife really enjoyed the bratwurst skillet. I am/was a regular and very good tipping customer. I was meeting a friend for brunch. I was 10 minutes early. They have a policy and don't seat incomplete parties. I wanted to go ahead and be seated and order because I have to eat by a certain time. They refused to seat me without my friend. I left, texted my friend, and met her at The Buttermilk Cafe. Wow! Looking through my Yelp! reviews, it came as a surprise to me that I have not posted anything about Fork and Spoon. This comes as a surprise to me, as Fork and Spoon is truly a treasure to New Braunfels. If you do not believe me, just roll into town, find a New Braunfels resident and ask them where to go for breakfast. I guarantee you any one of us will mention Fork and Spoon in our list of recommendations. I would bet a paycheck on this. Also worth mentioning, if you want to pick a New Braunfelan out of a crowd, you can ask the same question, and if they do not mention Fork and Spoon, you have found yourself a tourist. This place is mainly known for breakfast, but they do offer lunch. Their lunch menu does have German dishes on it, but full disclosure, I have never been here for lunch. I would venture to guess if they rock lunch like they rock their breakfast, I am sure lunch is great. I have had a few of their breakfast items on many visits. Opa's plate, the Monte Cristo Toast, and their French Toast. This place has the best French toast in town. Fork and Spoon uses a homemade Challah bread, topped with powdered sugar and honey pecan butter. If you like French toast, I highly encourage you to order it. I am convinced if heaven has French toast when I get there, that it will taste exactly like this French toast. The Challah bread is excellent, and the pecan butter puts it over the top. I will say if you are a lightweight, or are not very hungry, get the half order, as the full order is a lot. The Monte Cristo Toast also is very good. Their twist on the classic Monte Cristo is excellent, as they use a French toast approach. It is a sweet and savory dish with the savory taste of ham and Swiss cheese, combined with the sweetness of French toast. I highly recommend Fork and Spoon. Strong suggestion though - try to get there early. It fills up fast, and wait times can easily approach 30 minutes and easily encroach into the hour mark. Enjoy. read more

First and probably last time going here. The food was ok but the service was what was not great. After a 25 minute wait (which was expected), 4 of us ordered breakfast food. My daughter and I ordered coffee and water, my son ordered a soda, my bf ordered an orange juice and water. Only 1 water came. Not a big deal, but we attempted to flag people down at least 4 times and the staff walked completely and directly by us without even acknowledging the polite hand up and the "excuse me". You shouldn't have to repeatedly try to flag somebody down to get something you ordered in the first place. We also wanted a soda refill and waited til we were almost done to get that, because our server did not check back or have his eye on our drinks at all. We were never offered warm ups on our coffee, which I've thought is kind of standard for a breakfast place. Our breakfast was $100 for 4 of us. The food was ok but won't be going back to pay that much for ok food and not having the basics with the service. read more

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Took a German client and when asked by the waitress if we liked it, we acknowledged and I elaborated that he was German. To which she replied that all of their cooks were required to be German as well! Way to go!!! read more

I was back at Fork and Spoon after being there earlier this week. Today I had the Salmon Salad with Pesto Dressing. I love this salad. Fresh, crispy lettuce, green beans (Al dente), potatoes (asked for them to not be fried because of ww), grape tomatoes, hard boiled egg, salmon and pesto on the side. The pesto is amazing!! It also came with two mini jalapeño corn muffins. This salad was 10 WW points for me. Great service once again!! read more

Had the quiche strawberry salad and tomato basil soup. Started with coffee. Tasted watered down. Quiche was good but needed salt/seasoning. Strawberry salad was very good. Tomato basil soup came barely luke warm. Server brought a new one and it was nice and hot. Had a bit too much acid but otherwise ok. Came in at 11:30 and got seated with little wait time. I'm highly disappointed in the service received at this New Braunfels restaurant. It's been there for a long time, but the hostess and another staff member could use a class in politeness and customer service. I was meeting a family member and I arrived first. I walked in to 2 people waiting to seat people and a lot of empty tables. When asked how many in my party, I said 2 to which the woman replied "we will need to wait for the other guest to arrive" Then I said I would just take a table for one, and she openly huffed at me. She grabbed a single menu, a single set of silverware and took me to a table. I understand policy when it's bust, or there are people waiting, but this was not the case at this time. You need to hire people that can think for themselves and have some common decency. She made us feel uncomfortable and avoided eye contact and pleasantries the entire time. read more

We wanted something different on a Saturday night. We Yelped and found lots of places that were super crowded (Memorial Day weekend and all!). This place was on our way home and not busy at all. There was just one server - but he was like "Superman!" He seated us, got us drinks, kept the drinks coming, took our order promptly and gave us great suggestions! He may have even cooked the food! This is a scratch kitchen priding itself on their breakfast offerings; everything is made fresh and farm-to-table. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portion sizes are good. Single location (read: not a chain) so you'll have to go here to experience it... AND for this reason it's generally pretty packed on the weekend, having been here two weekends in a row. Not to mention, all of the aforementioned, the food is simply incredible. From their house bbq sauce to their biscuits and gravy, I also sampled the chicken and waffles. Again, great portion size and the breading they used was equal parts crispy, crunchy, flaky and the chicken itself was tender and delicious. This has become my regular spot to take my mom. I truly have no complaints unless you try to go at 10 or 11am with everyone else on a weekend day lol. The reviews about waiting an hour... I dunno where yall lived before hut that is normal for prime spots for brunch and asking a business to love cause you didn't get there earlier is WILD... anyway the pancakes are insane I hate fluffy pancakes normally but these are perfection. Syrups served warm and again I must comment on the bacon it is truly the best bacon anywhere. Thick and cooked however requested. Just everything is so fresh I can't get over it. I have to comment that the service by the waitress was formidable, but I must mention that the gentleman who was walking the tables and restocking the salt and pepper jars, showed a total lack of pleasure, with a sharp look of another evil work day, but luckily it was not my waiter. My family and I had read the reviews and we were we definitely need to go check this place out. I will say when we arrived it was very unassuming but people were waiting outside to get sat so we were like it must be good. We went in to put our place down and we had a party of 6. I will say the hostess looked annoyed we had that many people and she advised us it could be longer than usual because they wouldn't be able to give us an estimate of how long it will be for such a large party. I seemed it was a bit strange but I got her begrudgingly say 20 minutes. The entire waitlist seemed a bit overwhelming for her and I was now praying that this was not an indication of the food. It took us about 25 minutes after I offered to sit in a booth since I had a 6 yr old and a toddler who would need a high chair they seemed more accommodating to find us something. Once we finally got sat I will say our server was the best. She was very attentive and suggested some meals due to it being our first time there. I will say the food was worth the wait. I always choose the chicken fried steak breakfast and it was delicious and the biscuits were beyond fluffy. My daughter had chocolate chip pancakes and the wife a spinach omelette and they were both delicious. The food was worth the wait. I don't know if it was worth the frustration of getting sat. I will recommend this spot due to the food and the friendly service. I just hope they have gotten a better way to do a waitlist or at least someone who doesn't overwhelm so easily. read more

We went on a Saturday so it was very busy. Our wait time kept changing. First we were told 20 minutes. We came back and they told us 10 more minutes. So I sat right outside. No one called for me so I came inside and waited. There was a sweet kid helping at the host stand he remembered my name and had to tell the host my table was ready. The food was pretty good. I consider myself a chicken fried steak snob. If a place has it, I have tried it. The CFS breakfast plate here is the best CFS I have ever had. The meat to breading ratio was perfect. Gravy was homemade. The potatoes were delicious. My life has been changed. Service was incredible! Our waitress was able to answer all of our questions and was attentive to our drinks. 10/10 service! Ambiance was a laid back morning brunch vibe. Tip: it gets busy early and seems like the sweet spot is around 8:30 before the flood of people.
