Dr Nguyen is very knowledgeable and communicative about what he's looking for and any feedbacks he has to give. He made me feel very comfortable and safe since it was my first evaluation and also the first time trying on contacts. The same goes to everyone who works in his office! I paid a visit to Dr. Peter Nguyen on a Wednesday afternoon for my annual eye exam. He was highly recommended by my colleagues and I can see why. He's a down to earth kinda guy and very personable. He explains what he is doing every step of the way so there are no surprises. Michelle is great and took care of all the paperwork for me. (Note, she's only in Fridays and Saturdays.) All I had to do was show up, get my eyes checked, and pick out a new pair of glasses. Dr. Nguyen uses state of the art technology and I was done with my eye exam in 15 minutes. The part that took the longest was me trying to decide which pair of glasses to choose lol. There is plenty of parking as it's located in The Plant. Note, upon arrival there door is locked as a safety precaution and you'll need to knock to be let in. As of 1/7/2024, masks need to be worn per the County healthcare requirements. read more

Update to my review from 2019. My dad has been going to Foresight optometry for a little over 5 years now. Dr. Nguyen has also taken the time to explain to my dad about everything he sees after the exams. He carefully explains it to him until he understands. The staff is all very friendly. We never had any issues with billing. One great thing is they really do review your options with insurance. They will offer a small discount when buying glasses from them. My dad is very happy and very comfortable with the staff and Dr. Nguyen. We will continue to visit Dr. Nguyen on a yearly basis. I recommend Foresight Optometry for anyone seeking professional and friendly service. Love Dr. Nguyen! I've been a patient of his since 2012, and I feel very cared for here. He's a wonderful optometrist who explains information about your eye health in a way you can understand. I find that he's genuinely out for your best interest! He doesn't recommend things that are more pricey if it doesn't make a significant impact on your vision. I come here for my annual eye exam with the occasional contact fitting, and I'm typically out within 45 minutes. Very efficient visits but I don't feel rushed at all, as all of my concerns are heard and addressed with Dr. Nguyen. Front desk staff are always sweet and helpful as well. The whole family's been going to Dr. Nguyen for yeeears. His front desk staff may have changed, but they've always been very friendly, helpful, and efficient. The Doctor himself is great, too. He's super down to earth and always answers my questions (sometimes I ask A LOT and they can be random) and gives good dummaries (dumbed down summaries because I'm not an optometrist, obviously). Front desk is awful. Claims are sent out without actual treatment being rendered. Everyone needs to look back at all your benefits that were used at the office, did you get the services?? I also paid extra for scratch resistant lenses and apparently according to the older lady at the front desk even though they sold it to me that all lenses scratch and there is no warranty on any thing they claim. read more

I love seeing the Doctor he's always attentive and does an awesome job! Very professional and remembers the little details about my family that makes it so comfortable to go and see him. Office hands down always clean & lots of sanitizing I've noticed during these times of Covid. My only reason I reason I took away a star was The front desk staff! The last few times I've went in I felt they were rude and like I was bothering them. The day of my appointment last week I asked to use my insurance for the sunglasses like I always do and she was like no right off the bat but then reconfirmed with the doctor and yes it was ok to do...she walked out rolling her eyes like it was still an issue. Today I came to pick up my glasses and let her know I was suppose to order my contacts and again felt like I inconvenienced her and she mumbled under her breath as she walked away from me to go back to her desk. I understand during this time Covid Must be stressful but that's still no reason to act the way they have. If it wasn't a good time or I couldn't she could have just said please call to do so which I would have gladly done! Just to recap: Doctor is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! He's AWESOME! But he needs to remind his staff being friendly doesn't have to be such a task cause the more they are friendly and attentive the more clients will recommend the services! read more

The doctor is fine, but it's the receptionists that suck. The receptionists are pretty catty and when I had my appointment there one time I heard one tell twhen she was going on break for lunch and the other said that she would join her; the first one asked how it was possible and the other said they would just close the shop . I don't know if this is correspondent to the times I've been there and it is closed for an hour or two, but that would make sense. Update: I went there this week again and the receptionists were different, but still rude as hell. My sister simply asked for a prescription and they got the doctor to sign and give it to her; I then asked for one after and the asian receptionist facepalmed. The two receptionists then started talking about me under their breath (loudly) to my face and shading me, saying things like she should've asked for it together with her sister. The walk to get the doctor to sign only takes less than 30 seconds and all you have to do is get out of your seat. Don't be so entitled and lazy when your job is to help patients. read more

Dr. Nguyen is an awesome Optometrist! I have been a patient for almost 3 years now, and each visit/check-up has been smooth as it should be. I still remember my first visit. My old optometrist was located in San Francisco, and since I live in San Jose now, I decided it was time to make a switch (so I didn't have to drive all the way to SF and deal with SF parking for an eye doctor appt.) After some Yelp research, I made an appointment by calling the office after seeing so many positive reviews about this place. I had arrived maybe 15 minutes early, and I was greeted by the friendly first desk receptionist who had me fill out a form to give a little info about my medical history. Dr. Nguyen was still with another patient, and I had finished filling out the form, so the receptionist let me know that I can take look at their selection of frames, in case I was interested in purchasing new ones after my appointment. The eye glass frame selection available at this location is awesome. And if the frame design or color was not available, they can offer to order them for you. When it was my turn to be seen, I was greeted by with a friendly smile and a handshake from Dr. Nguyen. What stood out to me the most during the course of my check up was how he was explaining what he was doing and why he was doing what he was doing. Did you know that the reason you dispose of 30-day contacts after 30 days is because after a period of time, these contacts lose their ability to 'breathe,' which can eventually cause damage to the cornea? I do now, thanks to Dr. Nguyen. Within a 10 days of that first appointment, I had my new contact prescription and contacts, and new eye glass prescription and new eye glasses. The service here is awesome, and the staff are very friendly. It doesn't hurt that the office is located in the Plant on Curtner Ave. where there is a handful of good restaurants to eat at. read more

I've been going here for a couple of years but realized that I had never left a review. Dr. Nguyen and his staff are knowledgable, professional, and courteous. They've always taken care of everything I've needed in a timely manner. I can't remember having any problem with them. Any delays for my prescription glasses orders were communicated to me, or if they were too busy to do so proactively, they'd update me on the status after a quick call or email to their office. Don't let the negative reviews scare you, as there are always two sides to every story. It seems that the doctor has replied to many if not all of them with a very reasonable response. I came here last year to get my eyes check and also to purchase new frames. First off, the place itself looks great! The front desk receptionist was extremely professional and friendly. She knew what she was doing. She made some good suggestions and I was able to walk out with some relief. Dr. Nguyen was great as well! Dr. Nguyen was great! I needed to find a new optometrist and Yelp pointed me this way. Came in for standard exam and contact lens fitting. Unlike my previous optometrists, Dr. Nguyen actually took the time to explain what he was doing and why. I was pretty impressed he could tell which way I rub my eyes just from looking at the scans. He also had me try out daily-wear contacts. I usually use the 2-week ones, but he gave me the pros and cons and suggested I try out the dailies. A couple of weeks later, I came back in and bought the dailies. (They're super comfortable btw!!) The whole process was just really great. The gal at the front desk (I think she said her name is Diane or Diana) was welcoming and really on top of everything. I have VSP and she verified all my coverages before I even got there. Appointments are also easy to make (but they don't send reminders, so gotta remember to add it to your calendar if you're a forgetful person like me). Overall super great place! read more

This review is so far overdue!! I moved to SJ from the peninsula and needed to find a new optometrist that took my insurance. I settled on Foresight (in part due to the stellar Yelp reviews) and my expectations were STILL exceeded. The front desk staff was very helpful and Dr. Nguyen was just awesome. I got my normally very expensive contacts at a great price and they even had a rebate for me. Turns out they aren't in network with my new insurance, so my joy is short-lived and the search for a new optometrist is on. *cries* read more

Let me preface this review by saying I only give out 5 star ratings at about a 10% rate. 5 star reviews shouldn't be given out like candy IMO! This place is great. I was actually recommended this place from my optometrist in LA before I was going to move up. They worked through getting the insurance all figured out and cleared up with my company since they were out-of-network, and I appreciate the time and effort they took to settle things out. Dr. Peter Nguyen has been my optometrist for the past year and a half and I've been very happy. We tried a bunch of different disposable contact brands and types before I settled on one (all free samples) that worked best for me. He has also been the one doing follow up appointments after I had PRK laser eye surgery. He's really cool and easy to talk with and is knowledgeable in answering all of my questions. I've been late or had to reschedule appointments a few times, but they are always so friendly and never show any annoyance at the inconvenience I'm sure I've caused them. For their one year anniversary, they threw an event with free food and drinks for their clientele, and it's things like this that add the personal touch and feel that make me a big supporter of small businesses like this one! read more
