The Chinese food here is authentic, flavorful, and delicious! Their Peking duck special on Saturdays is amazing! They give you soup made from the remaining parts of the duck as well. Their chili sauce for the starters is so addicting with just the right amount of spicy that's tolerable. Their pyramid pork belly dish is fun to get and you can make baos with the buns that come along with it. Love also the mala dry pots, dan dan noodles, eggplant dishes, crispy beef, the boiled meat/fish dishes in chili oil, and more. They have a $10 lunch special on the weekday that I need to check out. There are also two sectioned areas in the back for more private dining. Such a great, local spot! read more

A wonderful place with a delightful decor and plenty of space. We stopped in for lunch while in the area based on the glowing reviews here. The lunch specials come with a choice of soup and are in a Bento style box. We always order Sautéed String Beans anywhere we go as a golden measure. They were done well, not too salty, oily, or undercooked in anyway. Everything was fresh and crisp, the style of brown rice here is amazing. We had the Beef with Scallions and the Spicy & Numbing Fish cooked in chili oil, both delicious. The Crispy Cucumber side was refreshing, I remember places that use to bring you them on a plate while you decided your order. The waiter was very friendly and we enjoyed talking to him about the choices. It was a pleasant afternoon spot, hopefully we will return again to sample other dishes. read more

the chinese food here is so spectacularly indulgent, simple yet packing, and homey yet stimulating. the pork belly pyramid tower was mouth watering ly wonderful. the texture was so soft and tender, the flavor was just the right balance with salt and a hint of sweetness...the umami flavor was super prominent. this dish definitely needs rice on the side and would be best shared with a group. spicy tendon appetizer had just the right kick of mala numbing and gelatinous texture. it was addicting to pick right off the plate. mixed mala veggies / proteins was super filling and the portion size was enormous. super solid chinese restaurant that's more on the newer, modern, and decadent side. even though we stopped by an hour before closing all the staff were still super kind and friendly. make sure to tip well because some people don't get paid overtime to cater to you! so either get out so they can go home or make it worth it for them. read more

We happened to be on the east side and decided to stop in for lunch, since their prices looked appealing. The interior is well decorated and clean, and the staff were friendly, and most importantly, the food was incredible! We ordered the Dan Dan noodle, chili beef and tripe, kungpao chicken, and the complimentary pork soup dumplings for new customers. Everything was incredible and SPICY (definitely order rice to eat with everything!). We'd both had some bad Dan Dan noodles in the city and this was certainly not one of them. The noodles were chewy and cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a lovely peanut flavor and great spice. The chili beef and tripe was delicious as well, with the classic numbing flavor from the sichuan peppercorns, and the portion was very generous for the price. We packed leftovers and were convinced that they added extra to our takeout container. The kungpao chicken was very tasty, and a welcome break for the spice (though it was also a bit spicy). The soup dumplings were also great, and though the skin is just slightly thick, the soup and filling were very tasty. (The order came with four, but we ate two before I remembered to take a picture). We highly recommend visiting For U, and looking forward to going back soon to try other dishes! read more

I never did make the time to try the previous iteration of this restaurant, which is a shame because after walking past that vacant storefront for so many years, it was nice to see it occupied again. Thankfully, they did not miss a beat in getting it rebranded and back to business. For U has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots. While the opportunity to dine in has not yet arisen, I've been doing daytime takeout orders at least once a week and have fallen in love. The mustard green soup with glass noodles is delicately balanced with a delightful nutty essence permeating the broth. Their Ma Po tofu with pork contains both ground meat and (I believe) Chinese bacon, which gives it a textural pop and depth to enhance the rich, spicy sauce and counter the very soft texture of bean curd. It is exceptional, as are their fried rice and sauteed vegetable dishes, particularly the green beans. I genuinely look forward to sitting down to something more substantial in the near future, but as it stands, I could not recommend For U more highly. read more

Three of us enjoyed a great dinner at For U last night. The food is killer..every dish we had was delicious. 2 of us are vegetarians and our server couldn't have been nicer or more patient in pointing out which dishes were vegetarian/vegan and also which ones could be made vegetarian/vegan. That gave us lots of options. We shared cold sesame noodles, vegetable dumplings and my favorite...cucumber salad. For main courses we ordered eggplant in garlic sauce, mixed vegetables with tofu in a garlic sauce and vegetarian dry pot with tofu. We also shared the dry sauteed string beans. The food is absolutely good and authentic, they made everything right. When I first stepped in the restaurant I saw all the customers were non-Chinese and I was a little bit worried lol, because usually they don't like the authentic Chinese food. However, it turned out that everything is great, even the rice is the good rice, not the cheap rice. This location has been various Asian restaurants for about a decade, and this is the latest. The owners made a wise decision to keep all the old fixtures up, even the old serving dishes, from the previous place. We enjoyed the food, and the service was very attentive. There is a very extensive menu, including whole fish and hot pot, with some entrées going as high as almost $60, but most are under $20. We opted for lower-priced options, mapo tofu and dry pot chicken, and they were very good. We like spicy, and the heat was decent, though I added hot oil. We took advantage of the grand opening $1 soup dumpling offer, and the dumplings had a nice chewy texture and a flavorful broth inside. Good luck to them. We live in the neighborhood, and we would definitely go back, and recommend it to our neighbors. read more

Good Chinese restaurant. Very tasty Kung Pao chicken. Mind that the rice is separate. Their vegy spring rolls did have some weird after taste. Maybe it's a taste of mushrooms. Stopped in during a rainy day for lunch and it was pretty good! The dry pot was great and hits the spot for some spicy food. The pea shoots were nice and they don't add too much flavor to it which is nice. I've had better soup dumplings but these were still pretty good and was part of a deal for $1. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Have had takeout and dining in. Somewhat average ambiance, but the service is great. Main thing is that the food is above average. Everything that I have tried was good and, importantly for takeout, consistent. Would not recommend for a "date night" but definitely if you want a nice, low-key dining. read more

I took food out from For U on 3rd Ave. at 16 St. I had chicken and broccoli and a hot and sour soup. The soup was just spicy enough and the chicken and broccoli was plentiful and very delicious. It's a little place that you could easily pass by but I suggest that you give it a try...... during the lunch time when I went there were quite a few people eating inside. I didn't even notice that the restaurant has changed ownership until we walked out, but it's better than the last iteration. I thought the restaurant had simply changed its menu. There is more variety now and the portions have gotten bigger. We had cucumbers, scallion pancakes, Dan Dan noodles, chicken with spicy sauce, twice cooked pork, fish in chili sauce, cumin beef and dry sautéed string beans for the 4 of us. Everything was great and authentic! The wait staff was nice and attentive, filling our ice cold water pitcher to combat the heat. The price was super reasonable, $160 including tips for the four of us, with 8 dishes. I will definitely be back! There are many more items I want to try! read more

We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

The pork buns were a bit lackluster as well. I did enjoy the soup dumplings. I found this meal really disappointing. The service was fast though.

We arrived before the lunch rush, so we were seated immediately and started ordering soup dumplings, rice rolls and a variety of other delicious dim-sum options. We ate our faces off.
