Listening to patients, getting prescription for trials after an exam, not insisting on getting contacts insurance will not cover. Dr. Blake is great but the Dr. Pattaris is where it all went downhill. I have been a patient there for over four years with no issues. I lost it when she refused to answer me asking " how did my prescription change to both eyes being the same to now both eyes being different and less powers in the contacts even though we are trying different contacts the prescription should still be the same correct? When she started getting flustered and saying that she's never had a patient like me and I lost my cool and told her to go F herself. I've never been treated so rude by a Doctor Who has a one lane highway and doesn't listen to their patients and then goes upfront and still argues with me ...asking me to take the trial contacts out of my eyes after I threw away my other ones! So basically she wanted me to drive home without vision to prove a point. Then she goes upfront after I say that I don't like her and she's got a bad attitude. She's still standing there arguing with me and mocking me and then she asked her staff if she's a bad person and of course her staff's gonna say no because they work there. She's an ass. I don't know why she left West Virginia and her business closed down there, whether it be that she decided to move here or something else, but her reviews are not great there either. I feel bad for the rest of the staff because I really like David who really assisted me and Dr. Blake. The rest of them can kick rocks for the way they responded upfront. My visit happened sometime ago. However, it was such an awful experience; I decided to come and leave a review. I will say that the front desk staff were friendly and professional. Other than that-nope. Prior to this I had absolutely no eye issues so because of that I hadn't been to eye doctor in a long time. I was running a little late but not too much...But my appointment was like the last appointment. The particular eye issue I have is apparently benign but caused me extreme distress for over a year(after the appointment when I went it was a brand new issue). I went there literally knowing nothing about what was going on with my eyes. When I started to ask questions about what I could possibly do to improve this issue he got an attitude and was just shaking his head no...and said we could go over it on the next appointment. He obviously was in a rush and shortly after I saw him with his jacket on rushing out while I went to my car in disbelief. I never went back, I ended up going somewhere else where the doctors treat their patients with compassion. read more

NOPE don't do it!!!! I went got an exam and I wasn't feeling right about the prescription. I was right 3 weeks of being dizzy having headaches and lot's of vision problems I went to America's Best. The doctor did another exam and four eyes was off bug time on their exam. So bottom line I bought 2 pairs of glasses and sunglasses and lenses felt horrible for 3 weeks and lost all of my money. So please listen to me go ANYWHERE else this is unforgivable and completely unprofessional. read more

Very appreciative that Kendra (K2) just saved my a** after I stepped on my wife's glasses and bent them pretty good. She greeted us with a big smile and warm "hello", inspected the "carnage", identified it as a metal bend, and warned us that attempting to fix them might not work out. We put our faith in her and literally prayed for the best. Moments later she returned with an ambiguous look - uh oh - but then the good (GREAT!!!) news that she did it. We were floored. The staff at For Eyes are completely incompetent. I ordered updated lenses for my sunglasses and computer frames. Christina put my computer Rx in both pairs! Then blamed it on computer error! Of course, no apology. She told me it would take less than 2 weeks to have the lenses remade for the sunglasses. When I called for a status 2 weeks later, I was told they were still in processing--hadn't even left the lab! Unacceptable. Christina should've expedited my order since the error was on her end. Did I mention Christina is the store manager? But that's not where the horror ended. I asked for a refund and when I took my sunglasses to another optical dept to have the correct lenses made, they couldn't remove the defective lenses from the frame because For Eyes made the lenses too tight for the frame! This really pissed me off because the frames were vintage--a one of a kind. read more

Wow! What a great customer service experience I had at For Eyes this weekend!!! I was traveling home from an out of state visit with family during which I had broken the "fishing line" lens frame on my primary pair of prescription eyeglasses. I called around for numerous eyeglass stores across the region around my route home and found that For Eyes in Frederick, MD could repair my eyeglasses while I waited. When I arrived I was greeted by their friendly staff and within 10 minutes my glasses were repaired at no cost. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!! read more

Like many of these eye exam specialists, the price of the exam goes hand in hand with your purchase of eyeglasses. I didn't like the style of the glasses they had in the store so I decided to order online. For Eyes intentionally left out the pupillary distance from my exam results. When I called for this information I was told that the only reason they were providing this information was because I purchased a pair of glasses from them. I don't get it. It's not like the eye exam was free. I also informed them that the glassed were required for my driver's license renewal and that I would need the results to take with me to the MVA. Not only did they fail to provide me with this form but they screened all subsequent calls. This meant taking another exam at the MVA. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

I have seen Peter Gillighan over 10 years. I have -9 and -7.90 × astigmatism. My last exam was over 1 1/2 hours, with severe glaucoma and left eye blocked by cataract. Well turn 60 and everything goes south. I insisted on new glasses, and Dr. G very thoroughly told me what I must do or go blind. He wanted Holly Gorss for surgery, but no go until March /April. This was October. I saw excellent Dr. Larsa, who no longer does surgery. I am seeing the MD Vision Institute, 6 appts but no surgery yet. No one ever hears a bad word about Gillighan nor Larsa. We are lucky to have these Doctors in Little Frederick. May they stay much longer. They are badly needed in America these days! read more

I just came back from picking up my glasses. This place have a wide selection of glasses, and they even have glasses not in the showroom. Christina wrote her name on the business card for For Eyes and she assisted me throughout my glasses buying experience. She is very knowledgeable about eyewear and inform me information that I had no idea about despite wearing glasses for over 25 years. Some examples include replacing the nose piece, type of nose piece material, and adjusting the frame. She actually adjusted it very well, she adjusted the frame for me like ten times, without hesitation to make sure it fitted me perfectly. She makes good suggestions on the type of glasses I should make and I'm very glad I listened. She treated me as though I'm the only person there. I never had a glass purchases experience like this before where they take there time, made sure I was happy with my purchase, very knowledgeable on glasses, made the correct adjustments to my frame, and made valid recommendations. I have been going to this For Eyes location for over 10 years. Dr. Gilligan and his team are wonderful. He really listens to my questions and makes sure to answer all of them. Dr. Gilligan gives a thorough eye exam and double checks to make sure there are no issues. The administrative staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. The eyeglass/contact staff will help you pick out glasses that look good on you as well as help you order any and all glasses/contacts need. The entire staff makes sure that you are well taken care of and that you do not have any issues with your eyes, the exam, contacts and/or glasses purchased. Have been going for years, but I think I'm done. Last pair of glasses had bad framing that they could not fix. No offer to send back. This year my visit was fine. About two months later I started having a problem with my left eye. Blurred vision, oozing tears etc. Really concerned me. Called the office for help and was offered an appointment about 5 weeks out. Had to go back and forth and be demanding to get a better appointment. Front desk was tense when I showed up and the doctor was brusque. Did the exam and told me that my vision was slightly better than before and wrote a new prescription. Eye problem remained. Finally realized that I needed an eye doctor, not a vision doctor. And I think that For Eyes should of known. But instead they were so bothered by my insistence that I needed help that they dropped the ball. Turns out that I had spores on my eyeball and needed Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension. Not a new pair of expensive eyewear. read more

Staff was friendly, courteous and friendly. That's where it ends. Had two pair of glasses made and both with wrong prescription. One pair went back twice and still wrong. Had eye exam there too so things should have been good. Got a refund for the most expensive pair without problem. Went to my old provider and ordered my primary pair for less than For Eyes and only one week wait and not two like For Eyes. I'm done with the "Supposed to be cheaper" chains. Quality comes with from the career professionals and I did not get that feel at For Eyes. read more

This has been one of the worst experiences Iv'e had with glasses. Since I've been wearing glasses for over 40 years. first pair of glasses I couldn't see anything. The employee suggest that I was looking down through my Bi focal incorrect. I let her continue to try to adjust but having no idea how to correct the error. Finally another employee took the glasses did something came back said they would have to order me another pair. The lens were totally incorrect. He quote"' was your never gone to see out of them" At the same time contacts were to be ordered its been months still no contacts. Thanks Insurance for making me use such a incompent comapny. First off, I have to say Dr. Gilligan is awesome I have been going to him for over 14 years and he is very thorough and have never had a problem with a prescription. I can say up to this year I have had very good luck with foreyes frames and lenses. I would come out of the office seeing perfectly. Unfortunately, that is not the case this year. The size frame i need was very limited (I had a choice of two frames that would fit correctly on my face) and ended up selecting a very cheap frame which I'm not sure will even hold up a year. It took two attempts by the lab to cut the lenses correctly and the the lenses that I ended up with I have problems reading and I cannot see to drive at night. It was suggested I give it some time to get use to the new glasses. I waited three months to see if it was me trying to adjust to the glasses but there is still a problem. Dr. Gilligan checked my prescription today and I could see perfectly in his office, so there is no problem with the prescription, but the staff at foreyes said the prescription was filled correctly so there is nothing they can do. There is definitely a problem - it is as though the lenses are cut in a manner that I am looking through the wrong part of the lenses. Glasses are way to expensive and far too important to person's daily life. I will continue to see Dr. Gilligan to have my eyes checked but I will definitely not use foreyes in the future for my glasses. They have lost my business! read more

As my eye prescription had changed, I went to Pearle Vision in Frederick to get a pair of glasses and contact lenses. Pearle was terrible: short-staffed and incompetent. After nearly 3 weeks and they still hadn't filled my order, I went to For Eyes in Frederick. As bad as Pearle was is how good For Eyes was. Joshua waited on me and was fantastic. He took his time with me and was very helpful and patient. I ended up ordering 2 pairs of glasses, a pair of prescription sunglasses, and a year's supply of blue-colored contact lenses. They take Eye Med insurance, which really saved me a lot of money, plus Joshua offered me discounts, which helped even more. They also take CareCredit. I placed my order on a Monday, and by Friday my complete order was ready. Sean made sure everything fit properly. The entire staff was friendly, polite, helpful, and extremely competent.
