What a totally and utter disappointment this food was tonight!! I've been a loyal supporter and customer of your restaurant for years even when others didn't have great things to say about here. . I am well aware that what I receive wouldn't be exactly as it appear online but this wasn't it all. The shrimp in my Rasta pasta was mushy indicating that it was not fresh at all and the pasta was way overcooked. The party platter was a disaster since all the food was squashed into one tray and burn. The food wasn't enjoyable at all as it has been in the past. I know this isn't Basil's cooking because he takes pride in the food he serves to his customers. I really enjoyed this restaurant. I've heard a lot of good things and I finally decided to take the trip to Brooklyn for it. I had the bbq salmon, Mac an cheese and cabbage and it was great. I was indecisive between that and the seafood roti but I definitely think I made the right decision. Also, the portions are really big. My boyfriend and I both needed to go boxes for our meals. Besides the food, I love the vibe of it. Jamaican music playing, everyone talking and enjoying themselves. Definitely, a nice place to go to with a partner, friends and even family. The drinks were kind of pricey but very strong. I ordered a Jameson with coke and I barely could finish it. My boyfriend had to drink some for me. First time ordering and purchasing food from Footprints Cafe on Clarendon Road.  The ordering process was easy via telephone and food pick-up was seamless.  We ordered curry chicken, rasta pasta with red snapper  /  shrimp, and grilled salmon with breadfruit  /  plantain. The curry chicken tasted good and did not deviate from other curry's tasted in other West Indian restaurants.  In addition, Footprints Cafe's salmon with breadfruit tasted good and was not too spicy.  However, this was the first time tasting any form  /  type of "rasta pasta" with fish  /  shrimp was something less than disappointing.  The fish had scales on it, which did not taste good and made it difficult to eat.  This rasta pasta reminded me of and tasted like pasta with Alfredo sauce cooked with bell (red  /  green) peppers.  We were not impressed with the food received and there is no need to revisit a purchase of rasta pasta. read more

Don't get me wrong if you want good music and a turn up time with fashion show this is the place. I like their food it's a little pricey but the food is worth is. I went here with close friends. We were all dissapointed that because we were seated outside our food was served on to go plates. Tonight is was windy and some of the plates flew off the table with some our our appetizers in it. Atmosphere it good outside in side seems very loud and would have to yell across the table. The outside decor is pretty and pleasant. They have a photo picture section where you can take your pictures with your own phone. If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. The service was terrible. The waiters kept passing our table for over 20 minutes before taking out order, didn't give any utensils or water, and only put in half our order which we waited over 40 minutes for. When the waiter brought water, which I had to request, he brought a pitcher of water with no glasses. When the orders finally came, the goat was pure bone. What is most upsetting is this restaurant has the nerve to automatically add on a 17% gratuity. Tips are for service. I should not have to pay gratuity for terrible service. read more

Came in yesterday for happy hour with some friends. Ordered saltfish fritters and 2 drinks, the drinks were nothing to write home about but the food... TERRIBLE. The saltfish fritters were cold, 98% dough and 2% saltfish. Considering the price point of saltfish, Im sure they can afford to put more. The sauced wings my friends ordered were slimey in texture. We asked to speak with a manager, however she was too busy on the phone to address the issue. Our server was super nice and did his best in spite of the circumstances. You're not from Brooklyn if you haven't eaten from footprints! Footprints has literally been around for years, because of their famous Rasta pasta. Rasta pasta is carribean alfredo. You pick your protein! They have so many choices, jerk shrimp, bbq shrimp, fried shrimp, honey garlic shrimp, salmon all the same way, chicken, oxtails. Soooo much more! This is one of the reasons I really enjoy footprints, so many options to choose from. The food is well seasoned, and I've never experienced it overly salty. I also avoid sitting in, to avoid the crowd and tiny space. So I call ahead about 15 minutes and do pick up. Cucumber juice is good. Love the salmon steaks! read more

Just ordered the chicken and shrimp Rasta Pasta and fried plantains on Uber eats. This place fell off it seems, wish I read the reviews first but since I've been there before and it was good I didn't think I needed to. I was expecting jerk chicken and jerk shrimp on top of Rasta Pasta, but nope, I got grilled chicken and grilled shrimp on top of Rasta Pasta with jerk sauce squirted on top of everything. First off that sauce is mad potent and salty to be squirting all over the whole dish. I didn't want mad jerk sauce mixed into my pasta, I enjoy the creamy Rasta Pasta sauce on its own. Second, that's the laziest way to make this meal. Even just tossing the meats in the sauce and then putting it on the pasta would have been better but still not what I wanted. Jerked meats that are smoked properly just have a nice smoky flavor, that was missing from this. Very disappointing from the supposed birthplace of Rasta Pasta. You would think they would care about upholding that reputation and put effort into each plate. Also the plantains were greasy. The 3 stars is because I know that they have good drinks when you go in person. But actually, who knows since it seems there's been a change in chefs or leadership. read more

This is a solid spot. The food is get enough to keep your interest but the drinks and music are what you should be coming here for. The space isn't small but the layout is packed tight so be sure that you're in the mood to make friends with the people at the tables around you. It's pretty good vibes though so that shouldn't be a problem. Everybody talks about the Rasta pasta here so on my first visit, I gave it a try with chicken and shrimp. The shrimp was on point but the chicken was a bit over cooked or something that didn't make it taste bad just annoying to eat after a while. The portion size is worthwhile for the price. The 2 Hennessy laden drinks I had were quite enough to feel nice on a cold evening. I'll be back again for drinks for sure. My first time at this location. I have heard about Footprints from many people about the Rasta Pasta. My friend and I decided to do indoor seating because of it was hot and humid outside. Our waiter introduced himself and we ordered the jerk chicken spring rolls to start off. I ordered the " Lay on it me" drink, it's a mixture of cranberry, pineapple juice with pineapple... the drink was excellent. I ordered the red snapper with rice and peas. My friend ordered the Rasta Pasta with curry goat. The snapper was stewed in a brown gravy with cabbage and carrots. The food was edible, but very bland. I have had better juicy and tastier red snapper. This place has a great ambience to it, but nothing to rave about. It's your typical Caribbean place for a quick lunch or dinner. read more

The best thing about Footprints is that they are always CONSISTENT with the food ! Since I don't live as close anymore I order on Uber eats from time to time. Macaroni Pie- Looks Oily but it's very tasty and seasoned Curry Chicken - spice level about 3 out of 5 (I love it ) it's not that watery based curry. "Meals are served with choice of one side and complimentary cabbage and plantains" is what the menu say.. The menu also has a "premium veggie option (no cabbage)" ... I ordered a large shrimp meal, that comes with rice and complimentary cabbage and plantains.. But when I got my meal, there was no rice. The store said because I chose the premium veggie option that replaces the cabbage, I don't get rice now.. which is a scam because I'm paying extra money to substitute the cabbage with the veggies, and with choosing that option, they expect you to pay extra for rice (WHICH SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN INCLUDED IN THE MEAL).. I called the store and told them about the discrepancy in their menu, but was given so much attitude over the phone and they hung up on me. I paid more money for less food AND IM PISSED OFF... I've eaten from here many times but never visited any of the actual locations in person. Today I was fortunate enough to come check them out and was quite pleased. They had a nice ambiance, cool music and the staff was very pleasant. We got seated quickly and our waitress was very professional. I didn't have any but I noticed they make fresh carrot juice, and it seemed to be flying off the shelf as every other customer that came in seemed to be ordering it. Bathroom was small, but clean most importantly!! We got here a little after 12 noon and they were already bumping wit customers, which is always a good sign. Today I just went with the Rasta Pasta, one order with the grilled chicken and another with jerk chicken. So glad I took the ride to BK today, totally worth it and can't wait to come back. The WORST!!! I'm always astonished at how this business continues to seemingly thrive in comparison to its mediocre staff and food. Long gone are the days where food came out fresh and the staff were courteous and prompt. You now have to deal with subpar food and same staff. I only Went here because we had gift cards to use here so I doubt I would go back. We waited over an hour to be seated and it seemed like the hosted staff needed some training in seating 101. I mean I've done better seating on my phone in the diner dash game. Stop putting parties of three at a table for six. My party of 4 was seated at a table for 7. We were sent to a table that wasn't fully clean and then were handed paper towel to clean it ourselves since they were busy. The food that came out after waiting so long was cold and my waiter seemed to be familiar with this as he stood over me and waited for me to taste it so he could be assured he wouldn't have to bring it back, it's like he knew the food was frequent sent out cold. We had a wings platter that came with cold fries and when the manager was called we were given a 12.00 dollars of the bill which then we couldn't use the gift card because the food had already been discounted. Ordered with UberEats. Delivery was on time. My Order: Large Chicken Soup Jerk Chicken w Rice & Peas Rasta Pasta w Oxtail Everything was good especially the sauce in the Rasta Pasta. I was in Brooklyn late on a Wednesday night in a hooters tank, bikini top and shorts starving and in search of something magically delicious to go along with a stiff drink. Due to my beach attire many places we're nt going to let me in at this hour and surely would have deemed my 22 year old I.d a fake based on my baby face and child like fashion. This little tropical paradise welcomed me with open arms. The dread bouncer/doorman did take a double glance at me and my I.D. But he let me in just fine. What I noticed the minute I walked in was how tight the space is. After hearing about it so many times I envisioned some big carribbean themed spot with plenty of space to bruk out and skin out.. not so much.The wait was 20 to 30 minutes. The adorable guy at the desk placed us on the list. He would let us know when our table for three would be ready. In the mean time we could jam to the reggae and dancehall tunes and casually people watch by the bar. By people watch I mean stare in astonishment at all the attractive male employees! Truthfully, I was in shock. All very well mannered, helpful, and flirty enough to make me wanna tip each and every last one. At the bar we ordered drinks from the very attentive (did I mention attractive?) Livey! The drinks are decently priced ranging from 8$ to $13. Not bad at all and the three I tasted were yummy and strong. I had a Bend Me Over And F*k Me... Not until just now as I write this did I realize how awkward it would be to write my review with drink titles such as that one. I also tasted a Lay On Me and an I've Fallen And Can't Get the F*k Up. All very tasty and questionably named. Right amount of sweet and liquor and all on the lower sides or the price range. We chatted at the bar... They did us a favor and got our table early (the guy had a little crush on my friend. She had us getting major amounts of what I assumed was special treatment up in there ). Our waitress took a while to come over and we asked her to give us a minute after ordering. She disappeared for maybe 10 mins. Didn't need that much time but we were in good spirits as another angel male worker brought us a bowl of peanuts to keep us occupied which were delicious. We ordered the Cajun shrimp rasta pasta and a order of fish fingers to split between two of us. I was beyond satisfied. The food came out in a timely fashion and they had no problem fetching us a plate to share. 6 delicious Cajun shrimp (tails on of course). 4 or 5 fish fingers that were deliciously crisp and succulent on the inside with some tartar sauce. Of course I dipped mine in my rasta pasta sauce. Yummy! There was no rush for us to get out of there and the tunes and videos kept us entertained. I will say the rasta past dishes are kind of expensive for what they are. A good amount of pasta but six shrimp?? Come on man. Do better. It is very tasty though so I guess they up the price for all the flavor. The music in there is pretty loud. I took a phone call and had to shout the entire time. The only suggestions I have is to expand! Make some more space in there. A lot of people come to this spot and the wait would be less if they had a bit more space. And also lowered those rasta pasta dishes. I know they are famous for that but knock off 2 or 3 dollars and I'm sure you'd get even more business. Also let me say that I usually prefer to NOT be around a whole bunch of Jamaicans (i'm Jamaican so I can say this lol) But the vibe in here is actually pretty cool and not aggressive as many Jamaican or carribbean establishments tend to be. My party and I was LITERALLY in the process of paying our bill and getting ready to leave. Not one but two employees, including the manager came to our table to rush us out . We got the message very clear the first time, as a seat was added to the table and your employee lets us know why he's putting it there. However, instead of the manager asking what parameters could have caused us to go over the seated time limit, (i.e food definitely came out late) they proceed to state that we have a time limit and other guests are waiting. I have been craving Caribbean food for some time now. A visit to Footprints was definitely satisfying and reminds me how much I appreciate food from the islands. We ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer, which was mouth watering and delicious. For dinner, I had their curried chicken with white rice and cabbage. Yummy! Their serving portion was filling and just right to cure one's craving. Not on the pricey side, but the quality of food was excellent. The servers were friendly and came by frequently to check on us. Hadn't been to Footprints in yrs. About 2.5 yrs ago Suede opened up and it wasn't that I didn't have loyalty but it was nice to have options. Truth be told Footprints was always my spot but the space is tight and I never cared for the elbow to elbow table setup. Sometimes-especially on date night I just want me and my dude not folks I don't know in the business. Was leaving the neighborhood the other night and noticed the crowd at Footprints and got curious. Boy was I glad I went. Turns out Chef Basil is back. He is king of the kitchen. That man throws down with his eyes closed. The food was on point and the vibes wss on 10. We got there around 9 and we didn't have to wait. Marco our server was cute and attended to us right away. I had the Bob Marley... uhm, I was def buzzed when I left. We had cod fish cakes for appetizer and the Rasta Pasta with Jerk Shrimp for entree. The codfish cakes were late so they sent us a platter of shrimp to munch on while we wait. Codfish fritters ending up coming out with entree but everything was finger licking good. Overall: Ambiance :10 Service: 9.5 Meal:10 D.J : 10 They have won be back and I'm not going anywhere. Man o man. We went here last night and I would have to say I had one of the best meals of my life. I had the rasta pasta with jerk chicken - AMAZING. Not only was STUPID FULL, I got drunk too! For those of you that haven't been here, it gets crowded and please plan on waiting at least an hour to get seated (we were weekend warriors). Along with that, it takes a while to get your meal. BE PATIENT, there is good music, a good vibe, and good people. I wish I lived here, this would definitely be one of my "go to" spots and the people of Brooklyn should be proud to have this establishment in their neighborhood. This review is long over due... I recently went to Footprints and I have been here a few times but this time I feel like both the food and service was lacking. Leslie came and took our drink and appetizer order. He was the first and last server we had. But we also had our entree order taken by a woman who appeared out of nowhere. We had to wait 25 minutes for 2 cocktails and an appetizer. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our entrees to come out. We ordered the Mango Caipirinha and a Coconut Margarita they were tasty but light on the alcohol. We started with the Ackee and saltfish spring rolls (which cost $7 for two rolls cut in half) and it came with a Thai chili dipping sauce. The filling was a bit dry and I did not understand the sauce. It gave me duck sauce vibes. For the main course we had the Jerk Snapper and Shrimp with Rasta Pasta and the Jerk Salmon and Shrimp with Rasta Pasta. My salmon and shrimp was slightly over cooked. The jerk bbq sauce lacked the punch of spice and flavor that Jerk sauce usually has. The dining experience was a sight to see. If you are sitting in an aisle seat you have to constantly move your chair in because they are having deliveries with the restaurant open. We were super annoyed with the continuous movement of hand trucks, bags of ice, rice and boxes of groceries being moved. We witnessed other customers playing music chairs while trying to enjoy an afternoon out. They really need a side entrance or basement to accept the deliveries especially if they are receiving packages when they are open to the public. As we are trying to leave and gather the check we had to ask the busboy if he could call our server. This way we can leave which took at least 10 minutes. The table next to us had a similar issue trying to locate the server they had as well. We eventually handled the check and were able to leave the restaurant. I am in no hurry to go back to this restaurant. But, if I am ever in the mood for Rasta Pasta I just might give them another chance. read more
