Great place for some family fun! The manager and staff were amazing. They really worked with us to ensure that our young son would have the best time. We stopped in on a Friday night while staying at the Foothill Motel. It was 8pm so I was a bit worried the vibe would be too adult for our 6 year old, but not at all! The music was great, glow lights were super cool, and everyone down the lanes were enjoying themselves. Again, the manager was very friendly and professional. I really wanted to take my daughter bowling and when we went in we were told we could only reserve a lane on the website. We tried on two different devises and couldn't get to the checkout page. I called the bowling alley to setup a reservation and was told once again that I needed to do it on the website. I let the person know on the phone the issues that we had. He was aware that for some reason iPhones were having issues but he let me know that he couldn't do anything for us. What a joke!!! This has to be the nicest little bowling alley in California! Exceptionally clean, comfortable, very friendly and accommodating staff, comfortable leather bench seating and tables at every lane. Bowling alley is okay...their is a female bartender/manager who is so rude and shouldnt be in the service business. When we walked in she was busy with voiding something on the cash register. We were not greeted our acknowledged at the counter for at least five minutes. Later I went to the bar and had the same customer service experience...not only was she unwelcoming she was also cold and had an angry look on her face the entire time she was serving me. I don't like giving bad reviews; in fact, this is my first. I'm generally easy to please as a customer; all I ask is to be treated fairly or be tolerated with general good humor. I'm not a regular patron here and don't know the rules of business. I was meeting a friend for a couple of games, and felt I should get a lane started so she could just pick up her shoes when she showed up. Their counter was not manned, which appears to be the rule of thumb for bowling alleys during the business week - no big deal. I waited patiently and watched a few other bowlers enjoying themselves. An older gentleman eventually showed up, where I proceeded to make the mistake of talking to him because this was obviously not on his agenda. Since I wanted to pay by the hour and not the game, and since I didn't know my friend's shoe size, he must have thought I was not very smart, because he expressed it in no uncertain terms. He explained that the hour would start as soon as I paid and maybe I should just wait for my friend to show? By this time I was definitely wanting to get away from him, so I nodded, too dumbstruck by his contempt to say anything. And then he said, "Thank you!" like dealing with me was so difficult. I was so tempted to lash out and express some things that I may, or may NOT, have regretted, but I didn't believe that would help. If it hadn't been for the fact that this is the only alley in Auburn, I love bowling and I hadn't seen my friend in such a long time and had really been looking forward to this, I would have left. As it was, when she came in, I let her deal with him. He was barely civil with her, but instead of letting his attitude wreck our outing, we laughed it off and ended up having a good time anyway. We walked in to the great atmosphere of a bowling alley. Then it all shifted when an employee began urging my family of five and I to go to the bar. I'm sure he was intoxicated. Not a bad place to bowl, but kind of awkward when there's nobody else bowling. When we came in there were a bunch of people in the bar and at the counter eating but essentially we had the lanes to ourselves for a time. About 30 minutes later a huge group of seniors came in and then more people filtered in afterwards so it was a little bit livelier. For the two of us it cost $26 for one hour, which wasn't bad because we managed to get in three games with a 20 minute average per game. I've been going to this place since I was a young child and now I'm 32. This place has never changed and I don't mean that in a positive way. The staff doesn't seem to know what's going on and seem annoyed when you ask them anything. On top of that NOTHING HAS BEEN UPDATED! We went to bowl and watch the football game and it took about 20 minutes to get the staff member to change the Channel to our specific game. On top of that the TVs are from the 90s. Spent the first 10 minutes of my hour trying to enter initials, not names, just initials in the keyboard but the buttons are so old half of them don't work and they are slow to respond. The bowling alley looks ok from the outside, but it is cramp inside. The lanes SUCK. I've never bowled so bad in any tournaments until I bowled on these lanes. I've tried everything, but every shot was completely different for me. The only time the lanes are consistent is after the first set. read more

I am giving foothills bowl two stars because I use to have a fantastic time here in my younger years... however the past couple experiences I have had here have been quite poor. In my most recent experience I drove up from Sacramento to celebrate my birthday. Before coming up, I called to ask if I needed to make a reservation because I had a large group of my family and friends coming. I spoke to Ty (Tye) hours prior and he told me that there was no need to make a reservation and that there would be plenty of lanes available and not to worry. I showed up around 7 with my party of 12 and upon arriving I was told that we could not be accommodated. However, the guy at the counter said if we felt like waiting 2 and a half hours we were more than welcome to but we were not guaranteed our lanes as promised. "Ty" stood in the background and basically said that it was too bad for us that they got so busy. It was an absolutely horrible experience. I will from now on avoid coming here at all costs. If I were you I would make the extra effort to go to Roseville or Rocklin where there are nicer facilities and will not turn you away. Worthless establishment. Save your time and money and drive down the hill (Folsom lake bowl or Strikes). From the minute we walked we received zero customer service. The teenagers working the front desk said we couldn't use the bowling assistant because it was resevered for disabled people only, when I said we had a kid with a disability they asked what his disability is violating ADA law( a 4 year old with a broken arm isn't a disability according to him). This was followed by the previously mentioned "bartender" horrific display of services it's shocking she has the intellect to work a cash register. I am amazed she is still working here after the amount of negative reviews. The alley itself could use a real cleaning and updating. The tables haven't been wiped down this year. The only positive thing I can say the lady working the grill was nice and attentive. We'll gladly spend the time driving a couple dollars more to have a good time. read more
